My surgeon gave me permission to take nsaids after two years but only on rare occasions & never consecutively. I’d certainly contact your surgeon & question the ibuprofen advice just to be sure. Most find they don’t need pain meds at all by day 4+/- so maybe your surgeon said yes to ibuprofen because it’s only for a couple of days???🤷🏻♀️ But the concern for your healing & sensitive tummy to bleed & develop ulcers would worry me. As for how long the gas pains last, just take as long as they need to escape your body. Pain meds won’t alleviate that pain at all. Walk, try gas X, heating pads, marching on the spot, raising your arms up & down can help. I had no gas pain after my sleeve, but after he took my gall oh boy. It took a good week to completely disappear. -

I’m currently taking THC gummies to help with insomnia. I researched the effects of THC and CBD on Bariatric patients before I started and studies show it has no negative effects on weight loss. I originally tried CBD gummies and they made me feel super alert, like I drank coffee. I was up until 5:00am! The THC gummies are Delta 8 strain, 20 mg per gummy. I take one and it works within one hour and helps me relax and sleep deeply. I don’t like how I feel afterwards, kinda zombie brained. I only take it about twice per week. -

It’s just one of those frustrating things that are part of the weight loss journey. Mine started at around 4 months. Most people notice the hair loss persists for about three months +/- regardless of taking supplements like biotin. The hair on your head is already dead & you can’t save dead hair. The thing to remember is the hair you are losing is hair you would have lost anyway as part of your natural shedding cycle - it was destined to fall out. It’s just that this cycle has been temporarily accelerated. You still have new hair growing but it’s at it’s usual rate. Supplements may benefit this new growth. Best thing to do is not stress, take your recommended vitamins & meet your protein goals. I remember my surgeon told me my body had better things to do with the nutrients I was eating then save my hair. A bit harsh but true. When I hit my goal & was eating more & a wider variety of food the rate of the hair loss slowed until it was like it was pre surgery so at about month 7. I took no additional supplements. A lot of us cut our hair so the loss isn’t as noticeable & it takes less time for the new growth to catch up & be the same length. I cut mine from almost my waist to just above my shoulders. The shorter length of hair doesn’t look as bad in the bottom of the shower either 😁😁. -

I’m on week 11 and average about 32 ounces daily (counting ALL fluids). I can only drink about 8 ounces at a time and then I feel full for an hour. I hardly drank water before surgery (about 24 ounces daily) so I think my body is just used to consuming less water. I have never been dehydrated or felt weird. If I try to drink too much, my throat starts to burn and it feels like the water is coming back up, so I stop drinking and walk around. Every day I try to increase my intake. The most I have ever drank was 40 ounces total. -

@Sleeve me alone! is correct. Stalls are just part of the journey. Your body becomes stressed from all the changes, weight loss, diet, activity, etc. It’s the equivalent of how you may shut the door & pull the covers over your head when you’re stressed or anxious. Let your body take the time it needs to come to terms with the changes & face the world again. It may need a week or even 3 or 4 weeks. There are no rules just averages or ‘generally’ with stalls just as with your rate of loss. There’s no right or wrong just how your body works & reacts. Stick to your plan & you’ll notice the scales moving again. -
Up your protein and make sure you're hitting your water target. Stalls are expected.

I have never read, written or talked about my bowel movements as much as I have since my surgery 😆😆. Don’t know what is worse the constipation post surgery or the hideous, absolutely no warning diarrhoea, which I had. Took a couple of steps & … well you get the picture. I added a soluble non swelling fibre to my diet. If I hadn’t gone for three days, I’d take a stool softener so there would be action the next day & so I’d keep on top of it. But certainly, you’re not consuming much & your body will be absorbing every bit of nutrition from it it can at the moment. Don’t be surprised that when you do start to go more regularly that it’s small & regular might be every two days. It does get better as you are able to eat more & are eating a wider variety of foods & food types.

No I wasn’t able to. Took me a few weeks to get to or about goal. But my surgeon was okay because I was making an effort. Plus I had a lot of swelling for the first few days so swallowing was very painful. Once that improved, I did things like diluted my shakes, soups & yoghurt smoothie, made my rolled oats extra milky & my scrambled eggs extra sloppy. I also sipped during the night (& still do.) I found drinking from a glass or mug easier than a bottle & I kept one beside me at all times. I also got into routines while doing chores. Like get in the car, drink. Park the car, drink. Red light, drink. Sipped every two pages when reading. Try warm or room temperature drinks as they are often more soothing & easier to swallow. Some people find setting an alarm on their phone helpful. As with all things, it gets easier. -
Stalls happen. They’re part of the weight loss journey. I wish surgeons & medical teams would explain this to people so they don’t think they’re failing like you are. You’re not! The first stall (yes first - you can experience a couple) often occurs around the third week but you can have them at any time. They usually last 1-3 weeks. I always thought of them as my body needing to take a breath to get used to all the changes, weight loss, diet, activity, etc., that have been stressing your body. Just like when you’re stressed & you may just want to shut the door & hide under the covers. Generally you don’t have to do anything. Why stress your body more?? If the stall persists 4 weeks or more, you may benefit from talking with your dietician. A small tweak to your diet or activity may be needed. But you won’t be in maintenance consuming 800-1000 calories. Some are encouraged to eat a lot more that that while losing. Your weight loss is never a straight line. It goes up & down, zig zagging about & plateauing. As long as the general trend is downwards, you’re golden. Congrats on your weight loss so far.

Hey Y’all! My Gastric bypass was on may 2nd 2022. I’m down 38 pounds but I’ve stalled! Sitting at around 276-278 (it fluctuates) I’ve been eating salads, nothing fancy but I measure everything out which ends up being around 240 calories with my dressing. And I’ve been obsessed with the no sugar added out shine popsicles. I’m wondering if my calories are too high? I usually am around 800-1000 and I walk and go to the gym so I’m thinking this is my maintenance calories and I’m not enough in a deficit? I’ve decided to switch it up and this week go back to basics of just 2 oz of protein and my serving of veggies. And I’ve cut back popsicles to 1 a day. I actually bought some popsicle holders and plan on taking my crystal light water and freezing it into popsicles to help get my water in also. Just wondering everyone else’s experience with stalling and how you got through it? I’m proud of what I have lost but can’t help feeling like I’m failing at this.l sometimes.

Spinoza sounds like you’ve been doin great! I haven’t done anything differently except i’m not drinking nearly enough liquids. I’m thinking that might be the key to my stall. I’ve slipped up a few times and had a sip of something to drink before I should but my appetite is still the same and i’m still eating very small portions. Hopefully by next week i’ll be writing about how I lost some pounds -

Just do your best. That's all anyone can do. I didn't get near my fluid goals for three weeks. My doc told me what I told you... do your best. What I did or didn't do, what other over or under achievers did or didn't do, is about as important as your pet's view on the subject. I may sound testy on this, but when I have just had surgery and am in reasonable pain, I'm less inclined to put up with this sort of support. Good luck, Tek -

It's so hard to say what is a stall and what is the end of the line for weight loss, isn't it? Are you sticking to your program? If you are I suspect it might be one of those horribly long stalls and I really hope it ends soon. NOW in fact! I have a year in my head too to reach my goal but there are lads of people who keep losing at a lower rate well into the second year. -

Took me a week or two to be able to get the 64oz in and it was very hard. i am over 2 months post op and i struggle mainly with remembering to drink water. I get reminded when i go pee and its very yellow. When i see that i am like SHITTTT i need to drink some water lol -

about a week. Some take longer, Some take less time. BUt walking is all you can really do to help get it out. -
My surgery was June 26,2022. Less than a week out and my mom is arguing with me consistently about not drinking enough water. Were you all able to drink a whole bottle water within the first few days? She’s afraid I’m going to be hospitalized for dehydration.

hi, the procedure was done in Mons, Belgium on May 16th. I lost 2 kg with the pre-op diet. First week was very hard with lots of vomiting, sleeping in sitting position. i have to admit the 2nd day i felt so bad that i was thinking why did i do this to myself? i ate liquid for one week. then one week pureed foods. i got bariatrics vitamins cause i felt weak. Drinking enough is a full day job. i took two weeks off work to recover. After 2 weeks i went back to gym, twice a week. i lost a lot of muscle in my arms and legs despite daily protein included in my meals. when i eat too quickly i get sick. i stuck to my diet, i weigh my proteins. i dont feel hungry and learned hunger is very mental. i lost 12 kg since the surgery, one clothes size and two bra sizes. i feel younger, more active. i have less pain in my joints and arrived to run one minute on treadmill. i started to incorporate daily pilates exercises to tone up. i had the spatz balloon and will keep it for 12 months. for the moment i dont regret at all

It is so, so important to remember that stalls are a completely normal, expected part of WLS. Nobody loses weight at a set pace the ENITRE time and then magically just stop when they reach goal. Weight loss is not linear - it is an up and down, start and stop, stall and restart process. So you need to make peace with the fact that you will not lose weight every week, when you do lose weight it will be variable, and that all of this is normal and healthy. That being said, a true stall is usually considered 3+ weeks, although this definition varies amongst doctors/dietitians. Regardless, a week or two with no movement, or even a slight gain, is NOT a stall. Most people's weight fluctuates 5ish pounds day over day - meaning you may weight 2lbs more today than you did yesterday and in reality, didn't actually gain any weight. I would suggest not weighing everyday. Its not helpful or healthy and can actually lead to some really unhealthy habits. Pick a set day each week to weigh - I weight on Tuesdays because I had surgery on a Tuesday so I'm tracking week over week from my surgery day. Also, take measurements and pictures. While you may (often) not see the scale move, your body WILL be changing. Keeping tangible data helps remind you that there is still progress and gives your brain concrete evidence. Lastly, you just need to give it time and trust the process. WLS is not magic, it takes time and consistency. This isn't just another diet we can give up on, this is the rest of our lives. Hang in there, you are exactly where you are meant to be. -
I haven't tried those. I have to be careful because a lot of the zero sugar things are made with stevia and it tastes terrible if not mixed with other sweeteners. Also, I only like red/purple/blue flavors, so I would probably waste half the bag, not like that would be a bad thing! I tried the SmartSweets Swedish Fish and I didn't care for them, but I might try other flavors of those. I know I got the Welch's at LAX, and I'll be there in a few weeks, so hopefully I can stock up LOL.

Hi, I need some encouragement please. I am into my 2nd stall since WLS. First one came less than two weeks from my surgery date and lasted a week, now I am in this second one but this one is much longer (going on three weeks). To make matters worse I am a slow loser. This is starting to get discouraging and darn annoying. I'm left wondering if I made a big mistake getting WLS and am I going to stay at this weight. Was this it? I'm trying to stay positive about but the bad is starting to outweigh the good. Please tell me it gets better.

Omg TWELVE months pregnant…that would be a sight to behold 😂 Yay on the stall breaking and boo about the hair…but like u said, its all par for the course, so hang in there. P.S. Keep an eye on the fish oil intake it may cause lower blood pressure (among other things in high doses) and with the already lowered blood pressure due to surgery and weight loss, you may get woozy. Good Luck! ❤️
