    1st fill

Had my 1st fill yesterday at 10am. I can tell no differents yet. I'm on liquids till Friday. Hope on Friday I fine some differents on how much I can eat. I did lose only 1.4 lbs since my last visit to the doctor. That is really a little depressing, but I knew I was not losing and I knew I could eat way to much. I need to make better choices. I still getting many carbs. I not a great meat eater. I love cheese, but have never been able to lose weight when I eat to much cheese. I can eat beans but they are high in carbs. I don't eat eggs, I cant stand the smell or the taste of eggs. Besides I tried to eat scrambled eggs at the resturant last week and the didn't go down very good. I cant eat tuna but with the mayo and pickle relish that not to heathy either. I just have to start excerising I have no excuse now. I'm feeling much better and I'm getting my engery back. I just have to do this. The fill was the really really easy yesterday, I was really nervous, but it was a breeze.

    8 More Days

Hi, don't worry, it works, I am like you started out at 270, and I am 5 ft 4 in. Lost 50 since Jan 2010. This surgery is great and it works, plus one thing to remember is it's long term meaning that you will loose but not all in one month. I average 5.6 #s loss a month. No problem eating just eat smaller portions--stick to the lap band diet. You should not get stuck on liquids or musshies. Only solids get stuck if you do not chew, chew, chew. I have had a few experiences--I tested the limits of my band--yes there are limits and you will know--it will come back up. When something gets stuck it does hurt for a while-10 to 30 min. YOU WILL LOOSE WEIGHT. Oh the procedure for lapband surgery in Korea costs, about 7, 000.00 dollars or a little less. People for Canada come to Korea for this surgery too. Pass the word, take a vacation to South Korea and have the surgery, spend a few weeks in the Land of the Morning Calm. Read my blogs and you will see what the benefits are of the surgery. There are many others on this site who are doing well. Some loose more #s than others during the journey, just be PATIENT AND ENJOY THE RIDE.

    Happy Birthday to Me1

Posted 5th June 2009 Well, giving nuff thanks and praises, I've made it to 50. It seems really weird saying that. 50 use to seem such an old age. I'm optimistic about the future, I'm grateful to have made it thus far, and would now like to improve my health and quality of life. Later this evening I'll be celebrating with family and close friends. I've choosen an Italian restaurant located at Canary Wharf (Amerigo Vespucci). Tomorrow I'm hoping I can get a pedicure a spa treatments. Update: Today I have an appointment with the bariatric team, will I get my date today? Lets hope my blood pressure has gone down a bit. I really am excited that this could be the day, what a wonderful birthday present that would be. I've waited so long. I recently had an appointment at the hypertenstion clinic and saw for the first time Prof. Jackson, the consultation was fantastic, I left there for the first time hopeful and confident that he had a grasp on what needed to be done. My medications have been changed yet again. I've also been given treatment for anemia (iron tablets) if this causes me any complications such as constipation, they will do an infusion of iron. On another note my daughter and gran daughter are off on holiday for 3 weeks on Monday. Dajah is just 14 months and spends a lot of time with me. Oh boy,I'm going to miss her sooooo much, I'm already worrying about her - but I've not communicated that to my daugher, I just pray that they enjoy themselves and get back safe. Hyacinth.
  4. I find it interesting how different my body is in only four months....almost to the day. Now, I know I've lost A LOT of weight. I am smart enough to know that with the amount of weight I have lost I will see changes in my body. However, there are times I look at myself in the mirror, shower, get dressed, or just touch my arm that I think, "Who is this person, and why am I touching her body?" Let me explain. Last night I was showering. As I was washing my body, I swear it felt like a different person was in the shower and I was in her head. I didn't feel like "ME"...well the really fat 330lb me. I then tried on clothes I bought before surgery that were WAY to tight on me. Both things are now big on me. The shirt is less big, but I remember when I tried them on and laughed at the fact they didn't fit. The thought that they would ever fit seemed so far fetched to me. Again, I knew I would loss weight....I just wasn't ready for the psychological changes that would have to come with the weight loss. I still wear clothes that are baggy. When I do wear clothes that fit properly, I am so self conscience at first and it takes me hearing from many people that I look fine before I can actually leave the house. I have actually begun to get a little perturbed that my new favorite lounge around shirts are getting way to big for me. I've only had them for a month and a half and I thought they would at least fit until October. To be honest, I would be happy to have them for years and years due to how comfy they are. Now with that all said, I love seeing my body change and shape into the person I always felt like under all the extra weight. I never thought I was depressed but now that I've lost weight, I can say that I wasn't as happy as I could have been. I am so much happier now. I love seeing men take a double take or have them smile and flirt. That hasn't happened in years. Now before people start going off about how I'm married and I shouldn't look for that....relax. First, I love my husband with all my heart. Second, everyone flirts and everyone likes to be admired. If you say you don't...you're full of crap. And trust me, if you read my blog from a few days I go, you will know that being full of crap can be very painful!!!! The good thing is that even though the scale is moving at a snails pace these past five weeks....my body is still surprising me. I can't wait to see what it looks like around Christmas time. To be honest, I am REALLY looking forward to the day I see my parents out and about and they don't recognize me. This happens to my sister ALL THE TIME. For those of you who don't know, my sister had by-pass surgery around three or four years ago. There are sometimes I go to her house and am still in shock that the little tiny person I am talking to is her...hopefully one day I will get the same response. But for now, I am going to keep being surprised in the shower....maybe I should have said in the mirror...the other one sounds really, really bad.
  5. I'm in a stall, but I wouldn't say it's hell. I've only lost about 6 pounds post-op. while it is a bit disappointing, i get it. I lost 30+ pounds in the 3 month pre-op diet. I know my body and it has always fought me at 210(ish.). Seems to be it's resting point. I know that it will start to lose again. Nobody on here has not lost the weight (or regained it all) unless not on program. And i'm learning how to eat. So i'm happy. And of course I'll be happier when the scale moves again. Sleeved 8/21 Current weight 212 Date in May: 253
  6. I would have been fine to sit in a theatre at two weeks out, but some people do have diarrhea, so be aware of that. Constipation is much more common. Make sure you bring a bottle of water so you don't get dehydrated. Maybe allow yourself extra time for getting to the train and getting from the train to the theatre in case walking makes you tired, or your incisions are sore. It sounds wonderful!

NSV I finally see myself as changing!

Thanks guys it's so exciting!! I'm amidst a rough patch in life my Aunt was very sick and I was able to fly up from VA to NH to spend some awesome time with her a few weeks ago and she was doing great, getting around, I even got to color her hair, my Mom left a few days later than me and she was doing even better then, but sadly 5 days later she took a bad turn and she passed away last Saturday! We are back in Nh for the services(yesterday and today) and ironically I was taking the pic to show a friend that figures my hair came out good amidst a blizzard which would kill it for sure lol! But anywho it's been an emotional and physically exhausting month, I'm looking forward to getting back home and putting my concentration back into things and actually just got released to go to the gym again(I had an enlarged spleen, still do) I wouldn't trade this craziness for the world tho, I got spend time with someone who meant the world to me and I know she was proud of my weight loss when she saw me last! Thanks again for the kind words I can't wait for the belly fat to go, bc I am sick of IT!

    NSV!

No, the crossing legs doesn't help with the stall, the stall helped with the crossing legs. Stalls are when our bodies reshape to catch up to the weight loss. And crossing your legs is definitely a victory. Can't wait until I can do the same. Good work.
  10. Oh gee thanks! That settles alot! I just see alot of people taking three weeks off and such. My bf takes alot of the same classes so he will help alot..i hope everything goes well.

    Post op lag

At day 5 I was pretty miserable. At day 7 I tried to check my work emails and had to quit after 30 minutes - the brain fog was real! At two weeks I was ready to work again (desk job) but I needed breaks to clear my head. I'm a month out today and I'm back to mostly full speed now, although eating has it's challenges. You're only 5 days out from MAJOR surgery. Yes, you need a support system, but I had a great support system and I still needed two weeks to be able to work a desk job again. You'll get there!
  12. Maybe you should talk to someone about it if you can like a therapist or counselor or get in tune with yourself or Higher Power if you believe in one and try to work through the situation that way. Maybe just write about it in a journal or a blog and try to get the feelings that keep haunting you out of your head and put them into perspective. I start the liquid diet next week so I don't know what you're going through yet but it sounds like you're going through a test. Just stay strong and don't give in. You can do this!
  13. I think my hernia repair was more painful than the band. It hurt everytime I would take a breath. I think it lasted about 10 days for me. It did get better each day though. I think 9 lbs is ok for the first week. I wouldn't worry about it. The pulling pain maybe your port. Just give it all some time. it is just a little fragment compared to the rest of your life.
  14. My doc says no acid foods including tomato soup for 8 weeks! And NO tomato juice or sauce, oranges, peppers, pineapple, grapefruit, hot sauce. ...also no skin or seeds, such as in strawberry or other berries.

    NSV!

I am 1 month out, my stall has just broken but I experienced that as well. I never really was a leg crosser but one night while siting watching tv, I realized I had my leg up in my chair with me, like where your foot is by your butt and knee by your face. Use to sit like that a lot but haven't in years. It was neat to do it and not even realize! Another NSV just experienced is I got out of the shower and wrapped the towel around me, the edges actually overlapped a little, woo hoo! Forget the scale, the NSV's rock!

    Cant sleep on my back!

You'll be able to go back to sleeping as you like once you heal up. I spent my first two weeks in a recliner, personally, because being flat in the bed made it harder to get up and the acid reflux was icky. Pillows are great for support, though, once you start sleeping more normally. I am a side/stomach sleeper and used a pillow for support and it made all the difference

    An Introduction and a Question

Hi: My experience has been that if a fill is too much it only gets worse, not better. If you're sliming alot you're going to irritate things and you've only been banded about six weeks. I recommend a call to your doctor to make sure that you're not harming your tummy or your band. Good luck. Sue

    And So My Journey Begins

I started out at almost the exact weight you did...232. In just over 1 month, between the liquid diet before and after the surgery, and of course the surgery itself, I am already at 206. Tomorrow I will be a week post op. You will definitely reach your goal by the end of the year...and I think much more! Congratulations on what you have accomplished so far and blessings going forward!

    Burps

Hi All! I am one week post op today! I feel good! Recovery has been pretty smooth. I have a weird question. Every time I eat or drink anything I burp. Probably a burp after every spoonful. It doesn't hurt, it's not uncomfortable..its just weird. Has anyone experienced the same? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Confused about fills

I am a little confused about when you get the 1st fill. Do you get a fill at time of surgery? Or is the band inserted only at time of surgery and your 1st fill is 4-6 weeks from surgery? Thanks, Crystal

Penni! Wow! Thats excellent! :clap2: And here you were posting about how you dont think you'll lose weight this week. Heck, that probably burned off 10 pounds! Now.. just dont eat until after next Sat's weigh in! LOL
  22. So many positives from my surgery. My outlook on life, energy, and overall happiness and relationships are better. I just went for my 6 month checkup and my blood work has come back better than I ever imagined it would! Seriously, it hasn't been this good so many years. I am so thankful. Plus, I was sitting in an assembly last week and realized I could sit and cross my legs, forgot where I was and kept crossing one then the other! Had to tell my friend to look at what I could do after many years! Then we had the office party this weekend (where I had a great time as I sipped Water and had no food, I might add!) and when it came time to play LCR I sat at the table, noticed some were sharing chairs, so I said, "Hey someone can share my chair"! I couldn't have said that a couple of months ago. AND in less than 7 months, I am down 90 lbs! So yes, I am happy.......I am much more healthy day by day.........I have met amazingly supportive people on this site.........and I am thankful!

    Burps

I am in my 4th week post RNY ... I burp a lot too .. often when my stomach is empty first thing in the morning. Once I have eaten it seems to settle down a bit. Also tea makes it really bad especially if I have it on an empty stomach. I guess it is our system adjusting to the new way of life.

    Sipping water?

i am a gulper...started off sipping, but now at 3 weeks i can drink 250ml in 1 swallow, then i wait a few minutes and try to sip the rest...i dunno if i am hurting anything or not?????????????i can feel the cold go down to the bottom part of my stomach so i am guessing that i don't have any real restriction when it comes to water...but after i get a fill that may all change

4 weeks post op, not getting full

Hi all, hate to be asking so many questions but I don't get full. No matter what I eat or drink, I can keep going. I haven't of course but last night I just couldn't be satisfied. I'm starting to miss eating pretzels and Snacks. I only lost 9 lbs since surgery. I thought it would come off quicker. Also, what is the green zone? Thanks for helping this newbie out!
