I can have plain yogurt but that sounds pretty boring as well. I feel like I need a change and I still have a ways to go before I start the purée stage

U r right kitklass Greek yogurt and cottage are great protein sources. For snacks I eat mozzarella cheese sticks by weight watchers. It goes down good and I enjoy the taste. I am almost 11 weeks out and these foods are def main staples of my diet.

Greek yogurt and cottage cheese are great for protein. I still can't eat eggs or spicy foods, they do not set well with me. Take your time when eating, it really makes a difference.

To snack in between meals or not to snack
MarkLewis replied to Kris77's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, when I say I "snack", it is a cup of yogurt or cottage cheese to get my protein in for the day. I would consider, in my terminology, a protein shake in between meals a snack. I eat my breakfast at 6:30, have a "snack" (<100 cals) at 9:30, eat lunch about 1:00, have another "snack" at 4:00 and eat dinner at 7-7:30 after the gym. This is the only way i could ever get in enough calories or protein. having said that, I agree with the point that we are all different. I also plan out every crumb of food that goes into my body the night before, so I know exactly how much I am eating, etc. -
Going out to eat...
GreenTealael replied to karlee0206's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Soft phase I found a lot of places had cottage cheese hummus or yogurt on their menus. Soup, coffee and tea. If nothing else Good Luck 💙 -
Hello Soft Foods! Started Wk 3 diet today and per my doctor's diet I can introduce the soft foods like loose grits, yogurt, cottage cheese. All I can say is GLORIOUS after several weeks of a liquid diet. I was feeling so incredible weak and was wiped out after walking around with the kids trick/treating. Although I am still on the protein shake, I had plain greek yogurt this morning for breakfast, some cottage cheese with a sprinkle of pepper for lunch, and grits tonight. I feel like I cheated last night as we made pork butt in the pressure cooker with chicken broth as the base and I siphoned off some of the liquid for dinner. I had to take an extra step to skim the fat and remove the chunks with a sieve and towel, but it was a naughty pleasure. Mrs made beef vegetable soup tonight so I plan on using some of the broth as the base for my grits that will be dinner. As a home chef, I gotta have some flavor and using all kinds of stock to cook things is a great way while staying healthy since I can't add in butter, cheese, or the like. I opted for grits to keep things gluten free and am using the stone ground organic from Bob's Red Mill organic grits (aka polenta) since the instant tend to get a little bland and gelatinous. Should be yummy if only a teaspoon worth. Anxious to see what happens with the weight loss after reintroducing solids. Walked three miles with the Mrs. this morning to try and compensate for reintroducing solids but shooting for at least another 20 gone by xmas. That might be a little ambitious and I'm not rushing it. Love the fact I am 30lbs down coming out of liquids. I do feel like I loss some muscle and I'll be anxious to start resistance training after week 4 (bands at first). To everyone out there in bariatric land, you can do this and I'm so excited for everyone who decided to take the initiative to begin the path towards a healthier and longer life. Hang in there.

I had something that sounds sort of similar to this yesterday. I’ve consistently been eating my yogurt and a protein shake in the morning to wake my stomach up slowly, but I had a small bit of an omelette instead and it felt so strange right after. Last time I do that. I got back on my normal routine today.

June 2022 surgery buddies
Mariann812 replied to Jessica1024's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi all: I’m hanging out in June SB because I am hoping against hope that my surgery date is mid June. My Results visit is 5/16 and I hope to get the date at that visit. Cigna has had my insurance packet for 1 week. Doctor’s office says they take 2 weeks to study it. I began the liver shrinking diet on Tuesday, 5/3 (per doctors office) and I’m down 6 lbs which is nothing short of a miracle for me. A typical eating plan in a day is 2 Atkins Plus shakes, 1 or 2 Oikos yogurts, an Aldi Shrimp meal (140 calories), 64oz water and sugar free ice pops. I WAS hungry on Day 4-yesterday- but I dropped 2 lbs overnight which explains that. I’m using vitamin patches because they are easy and convenient. My nutritionist said they are not effective but drinking all that water makes the thought of swallowing pills impossible. I get blood drawn in one month and any positive change in my levels means the patches are okay. We’ll see. Good luck to all…I am having RNY LAP with hiatal hernia repair. Oh, yeah, endoscopy scheduled tentatively for 5/20. Keep your surgery and recovery stories coming. I learn so much from them. -

I was tired of the Protein shakes the day after discharge. I have tried yogurt, cheese and eggs, Soup and today a little tuna, the jury is still out on the tuna. I also ate some Peanut Butter with half a banana. It gets old quick. My concern is that I am eating right at 4oz but haven't pushed it to see how much I can tolerate. I'm full after one bite of anything so it's hard to read my body as far as being full. Best of luck to you!! -
Surgery on November 2, had minimal pain (the IV helped), Slept for hours post surgery, had to stay an extra day to adjust insulin and medications. I am feeling great, no pain, sipping warm tea, decaf coffee, and water all day. Protein shakes, cottage cheese (small bites at a time)' yogurt. Staying moving as much as I can. This is going well for me. I feel like the weight of the world has lifted off my shoulders. Been a long time coming and prepping, and now it's real. My decision for surgery was for health, with diabetes, high blood pressure, and arthritis in my hips. My hope for the future is to get mobility back and get healthy.

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!
boardlady@netptc.net replied to Ylime's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just learned of this app. Exactly what I’ve been looking for. I am one week post-op from RnY. So far, so good. Minimal pain, minimal gas. Had my first “meal” after one week of solid liquids. I slowly ate 3 ounces of nonfat plain Greek yogurt. It was awesome to have something other than broth and sugar-free popsicles. Good luck to all of you who are still waiting for your surgery. I am 65 years young and anxious to be healthy. Down 12 pounds. -

Good Morning All! Congratulations and good luck to everyone that's on/heading to the Loser's Bench this week! Day 2 of pre-op diet today. I'm full liquids, so that's 5 protein shakes, 50 calories of clear liquid, 1 cup of strained soup/yogurt/pudding. I'm very tired and have a headache. I'm hoping the fog clears soon. -
Post Adjustment Tightness
Kari D replied to Kari D's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the feedback ya'll! I just got off the phone with the doc. He did not seemed concerned at all. He said what I was experiencing was normal sensation and actually the restriction I'm feeling is what they're looking for. He said if I'm not happy with the feeling they can always take some out. The challenge is that being new to this, I am not yet keen to the different post fill sensations. So far, I've had a Protein shake and a yogurt and I'm not feeling hungry at all. Who am I!? -
I would definitely say no, not at this point however I want to point out that week 3 is not always pureed foods. Every surgeon is different. I started soft foods on day 3-14 which includes things like yogurt, cottage cheese, tuna, eggs and even ground turkey as long as it's chewed very well. I am on day 10 post op and doing very well with all of these items. Day 14 I get to move into regular textured foods in 2-3 ounce portions and I'm so happy to have more options. Again, everyone is on a different plan, but I think the biggest thing is don't push yourself into anything that could cause you harm or discomfort. It's not worth it. Patience will pay off in the end.

I am absolutely being tortured. My pre-op diet is: Meal 1-eggs, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit, ect. any two. Meal 2-Protien Shake Meal 3-Lean meat, and green vegetable Meal 4-Protien Shake I am at work, this week they are ordering food in all week. I have to smell their food for two hours before I take my lunch break. I am drinking a ton of water and am still starving. It sucks. By lunch time I am so hungry I could eat anything. Yes I know I am a big whiner and I know in the end it will all be worth it. But right now my stomach doesnt understand or care about all of that. If I had this much willpower I wouldnt be in this situation to begin with. Sorry, I needed to have a pitty party.
