Hi hun , why not try some warm clear apple juice. You will feel the warmth of it going through. Are you still taking meds as they will make you that way. The longest I went was 10 weeks. Xx

Wow getting close! Good luck just keep positive and follow guidelines and you'll be fine. It's overwhelming at first figuring out what to eat the first few weeks but then gets easier. -
I take Nexium once a day and haven't had any reflux symptoms. I experienced some intense nausea and discomfort on occasion around week 3 post-op. The doc in the ER and my surgeon both told me to start taking my Nexium twice a day. I did for a few days, but then stopped (I have to pay out of pocket for Nexium, and it's not cheap, so that was a bit of a deterrent, as was continuing to feel icky regardless). I haven't had problems since. I don't think acid had anything to do with it, as my symptoms weren't typical heartburn stuff. Also, just a note, bile has nothing to do with acid. Bile is released for fat absorption, and it goes into the small intestine, not stomach. The stomach itself secretes acid. When you take a PPI, you kill off the acid pumps temporarily, but new ones are reinserted quite quickly, which is why you have to continue taking a PPI for a while. I sure am looking forward to going off of mine, as it costs a pretty penny!

It will go faster than you think and gives you good time to prepare and make plans! I started a bucket list of things I want to do when I'm a normal size. My friends have added things on my list that all of us will do. I'm 4 weeks post op, feel great , and striving for my list everyday! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Scared as hell of weight loss
cookienmax replied to KamalSalem's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi! I'm new to this site and I am still pre surgery. My RNY is scheduled for 9/22. I was a chubby little girl who was constantly told she was fat. As life moved through the years no matter what I tried the weight came back plus. At one point I weighed 299 and I started a plan I was very successful and lost 99 pounds. I just never could break that 100 pound mark. Now three years latter and fast approaching 59 years of age with many health issues have decided to embark on yes a life changing adventure to let out the thin person who has always been trapped inside. I think everyone has times where they become apprehensive about the decision to undertake this process. I agree with the others the core person you are doesn't change. I am talking about your morals, values, way of seeing right and wrong that person will always be there. However, your about to undertake an adventure you've never had. Your going to experience a whole new world of NSV's (non scale victories) i.e. being able to walk into any store and buy whatever you like, being able to tie your shoes without putting your leg up on the couch or bed, no seat belt extenders just to name a few. Embrace the adventure and enjoy the ride. This is how I have come to see all of what is involved. I belong to another Gastric Bypass forum on a site called Daily Strength, if you have the time to visit that site look for a post that is titled what newbie's need to know. I really got quite a bite from that posting. It's long but so worth the read! Good Luck on your journey! -
Total Appetite Loss
Threetimesacharm replied to ReeseDarling's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I hear you Reese I am only 17 days out and struggle everyday to have my shakes I can barely take two down but I am supposed to have three. I think we should look at this as a blessing as one day I am sure our desires for food will come back and then we may struggle with that for the rest of our lives. So........................I am grateful right now!!!!! Congrats on your weight loss!!! -
hi everyone, a lot has happened in the last 2 months. First, i was put on a two month trial by my doctor. I had to lose a total of 10 lbs, five the first month and five the second month. So, i get a call from my doctors office which happens to be Dr. Horgan in la jolla, ca. They told me that my insurance denied me. Due to the fact that my doctor not being in the network of my insurance. So, it all came down to this, i believe that my doctor should have known that he was not within my network instead of wasting 2 months of my time and his time, right?!?!? I had to pay over 300 dlls already to him. And they wait for the last minute to ask for an approval and i was turned down. I had to cancel my appt that i had this monday for my final weigh in. After that i was suppose to get a surgery date. Now im back to square one!!!! Bummer! On the lighter note i already lost 20 lbs while all this madness was going on. Pass the 10 lbs i was suppose to lose and i did it all on my own  now, where do i go from here??? Do i start a whole new process with another doc? Oh and by the way i appealed it (Dr. Horgan) I'm suppose to know like in 2 weeks what the outcome is....but i kinda feel like i cant trust this doc no more, i feel ive been cheated. Maybe the doctor is not even aware of whats going on and its his staff not him. Who knows, im so confused now. Any suggestions??? On another brighter note, today was the first day i woke up at 4 am to work out!!! Wow! I surprised myself....hope u all have a wonderful day today. Im at work now! God bless you all!!!

Persistant Diarrhea?--Help
Flowerpurr replied to 2nd2none1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand what you are going through right now. But I had mine about 5 days after surgery. The pain medicine was making me not go. So I took Milk of Magensia and went like crazy for three days. Finally the nurse told me to eat some apple sauce. But you are not far enough out to do that. You really need to call the Dr. That is not normal to have diarreah. Plus are you drinking clear protein or full liquid protein? That makes a huge difference to. -
Hi Jojo! Welcome to the forum and to Bandlandia! Be sure to be really good to yourself during the next few weeks; healing is hard work!! :P
-
Hi JoJo, Congratulations on being "banded". I know what you mean about the soreness. I still don't feel 100% back to normal, but it gets better every day. This week I have far less aches and pains. Get as much rest as you can and just remember you are still healing and deserve to "baby" yourself. Take Care,

Going on 4 weeks post op and I have been good to follow all directions thus far. Not advancing my diet yet, still staying off caffeine, etc. I've been a good girl. Really. But today, I was offered a piece of gum and I nonchalantly accepted without even thinking. As a matter of fact, it never once crossed my mind until an hour later when I accidentally sucked that bad boy down! Damnit. So, I'm a little over an hour out and still drinking Water with no problem. I absolutely refuse to contact my surgeon's after hour coverage unless I begin to vomit or feel discomfort. Just curious...anyone else experienced this little mishap? How did you rid yourself of the gum? Run its course or surgical removal? (Lesson learned....NO more gum so please no lectures) Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

Idiot alert...
Sophie74656 replied to sassyfrass23's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Chewing gum post op is frowned upon by most surgeon's. At least as early as I am. Those that don't condone it forever, still require you to wait around 12+ weeks. It can cause blockages and require surgical removal depending on the situation. Can cause you to swallow more air than usual. And a few other things.. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App Most surgeon's what? This is the first i am EVER hearing about not having gum. Is swallowing gum really that common? I chew a lot of gum, never even stopped when i had my sleeve. Was chewing a few days post op -
I had diarrhea at about a week out, it lasted 3 days then I couldn't go again for a week!!! I'm 3 weeks out now and am still not regular. My surgeon said it's normal because our bodies are trying to figure out what's going on, and not much food in equals not much out, same for liquids in, liquids out! I feel like im never going to feel normal again..
Leesa in MD posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi everyone. I am 25 days post op and it has been the worst 25 days my life. I'm not able to keep anything in my system. Everything runs right through me. I've done everything my nutritionist and surgeon have said to do but I still can't make it 20 minutes without running to the restroom. I feel like I always have a lump of something stuck in my throat even if I haven't had anything to eat. I'm tired all the time. I cannot tolerate protein shakes anymore, they make me gag. I don't even know what to eat anymore. I've tried everything I'm allowed. I haven't had much of anything but water in the last 3 days. I returned to work on Monday and Tuesday but had diarrhea so bad the rest of the week I couldn't make it in. I feel like I have made the wrong decision. I haven't even been focused on my weight because I can't move past everything else. I'm so discouraged and depressed. I see my doctor today but I'm not sure what she is going to tell me that she hasn't already said. Am I ever going to feel normal again? ???? -
Oh yes, I LOVE Zumba! Wasn't sure if it was to early for Zumba. How many weeks post op are you? I will send a message to my doctor to see if I can start that now. I hope so! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I had my VSG 8 days ago. I was very active before surgery, and attribute that, at least partly, to my quick recovery. I knew I would not get a lot of calories from the time I started my liquid diet (3 days pre-op) and for weeks post-op. But it is really hitting me how little my body is getting! I struggle to get more than 200-300 calories a day, even with Protein drinks. The past couple days I have been feeling really weak! My doctor said I shouldn't be getting more than 500 calories/day for the first 2 months. I have 3 young children, a part-time job, and love being active, but I don't know how to do it all with such low energy. I am taking my Vitamins, drinking about 50 oz of Water, and getting in about 45 grams of protein (That's all I can fit in my stomach at this point in recovery), and getting enough sleep. I just want to sit/lie down all day. How do you all do it?

Such low calories, such low energy
JamieLogical replied to 24601's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The fatigue is a real issue the first few weeks. You are healing and recovering from major surgery, which obviously consumes a lot of energy, and you aren't getting many calories in. I promise you that it WILL get better. Once I was up around the 600-800 calorie mark once I was back on solid foods, I felt pretty human again. Once you can get up above 1000, you should be able to be active and work out intensely and still have energy to live your life. -

Trouble in paradise...may need to call surgeon
lf1227 posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi there! I need advise on what to tell my doctor, if I need to call him. So I'm 70lbs down, 55 from surgery which was April 5th 2017...3.5 months ago. Everything has been great, I can eat meat and veggies and usually have no problem unless I eat too fast or drink water too soon which has only been a couple of times. I've inky been bad with my vitamins and water which I know is major, but I am trying very hard to get my **** together when it comes to that. I haven't been to a check up with my surgeon since May. Problem: I had my period this week and with that I get bloat, cramps, gas and constipation- it's real fun! Not lol. On Friday or Saturday I noticed my tummy kinda hurt or felt full really fast so I took it easy. I did have a medium glass of champagne because after 3 months you can have carbonated beverages but I don't do it on the regular. Then on Sunday I noticed that feel was lingering and now Monday and it's still lingering although I haven't eaten yet. Is it possible that maybe I am partially backed up (BM seems reg)? It's almost like on the other end it feels like I am backed up and my stomach is kind of full although like I said I haven't eaten. I am very nervous to tell my Dr. And have to do more tests or x rays and I'm even more scared that I've hurt my ouch jn some way because I do my best to respect It! I don't think I am allowed to take real laxatives anymore but colace seems to do nothing, any suggestions please? Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app -
I did the same thing. Want to eat everything in sight with the thinking I won't be able to have that again. What I did to get through it was make a list of the foods I wanted most before I had my surgery. Then I would diet all week and have one of those foods on the weekend. I did it every weekend up until the date of surgery and still managed to lose 27 lbs. I had fried chicken, ice cream, Chinese food, fried seafood, pizza, etc and to be completely honest after a while they didn't even taste that good. Some were a major disappointment. Now I'm not hungry enough or too scared to dump to eat any of those foods. I don't really miss them.
