Buddies Group - Surgery Dec 4 to 15, 2017

I tried about 12 days out (purée) and it did not go well. I'm having lots of luck with Greek yogurt or puréed lentil soup and vegetable beef soup, good flavor and it's very liquid. I'll try tuna again later this week, I knew after one tiny bite it was a no go last time. -

Hi Morgan! I was sleeved on 12/4 so about same timeline. Does milk bother you? I drink Fairlife ultra filtered, 13g protein per cup and lactose free (I was having issues with lactose post-surgery). Also Oikos triple zero Greek yogurt has worked well for me-15g of protein, sometimes I will blend with unflavored protein powder, milk and ice to make a shake. Good luck! Hello all... New here and sleeved on April 8th. Many of you are before me so it's inspiring and informative to read how you are doing, what your going through and how you've made out. Today i'm 10 day's out and noticed I can take a few bigger sips of liquid. Hopefully I can get a some more liquid in during the day. I find it very difficult to keep a cup in my hand and sip every few minutes. The post surgery pain has subsided substantially after day 6. The first 4 days were terrible for me. I still had to use pain meds and spent 1 extra day in the hospital. I think the walking has helped eliminate it. I did attempt to cheat and have a bit of pizza yesterday. Why did i do that??? (StupidMcNupid) It hurt like crazy and I had to call the Doc. Won't go into what he told me... The pain was so bad I had to pray. Had a "#2 blowout" and felt a little better. 4 hours later i started to normalize and feel better. PLEASE, PLEASE don't follow my lead on that one. I was weak and paid the price so that you guys don't have to. Other than that, my energy levels are quite good. I'm sleeping earlier than normal and waking up a bit early as well. Thats good to get an early morning walk in. I'm unsure who's tracking calorie intake but each day (2 shakes / 2 soups / 3 tsp of yogurt) i'm averaging a little less than 500 calories a day. Scary for me. Doc say's don't worry but wondered how and how you guys that are close in dates to me are doing. D

I'm not a yogurt fan but I bet I'll be willing to eat it since I have limited choice post-op. My nutritionist also says Oikos Triple Zero is really good. Can't wait to try it. Height 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: - 71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). My profile picture is not me. It's my "FitSpiration" body.

My new favorite yogurt

I must have the exact opposite taste buds as the rest of you lol I can't STAND greek yogurt of ANY kind or brand... it's so THICK and makes my throat feel, like, STICKY for some reason. Plus one tiny teaspoon and I feel full enough to gag. It's the texture... I just can't get past it :-( Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App -
My Snack Fairy Likes Cheese, Yogurt, Strawberries, Grapes, Cherries, Bananas and loves Peanut Butter (which I've deamed Evil) - she's pretty much a Dairy/Fruit Fairy. I wish I could find one that brings veggies I like - sigh. Since I've fired the last one (she was prone to naughty things like Doritos, Dark Chocolate, Popcorn and Cheetos), the Scale Fairy has been a little more tolerant. I think the Gas Fairy Queen lives at my house. She has an awful since of humor and decides to strike at the most inappropriate times.

I hate it when people post just to post.....

Yumm... out of the jar! Make them tiny pieces. It adds a zing and a tiny bit of texture/crunch to your Lemon yogurt. It doesn't take much, just a bit. I used to get the ladies at the coffee shop at a hospital to do this for me and they would gag the whole time they were cutting up pickles. But they did it for me. :scared: I couldn't help but to laugh. Losingjusme... I don't like 'em either. But in yogurt? YUMMY! Any other way, they are gross. And yes, dearie! The world revolves around me. My friend was banned last week and she's very happy. Well, she was until her Grandmother died the day after we got home. :fish: -
Better luck next time Beth. I am not sure at what point my body decided that 4:30 was an excellent time to get up, but I really hate it on days when I don't have to work. I am sitting here attempting to eat some Greek yogurt. I made the mistake of tasting a piece of meat this morning well before my body was ready for solid food. I didn't PB or anything like that, but it still feels like the meat is sitting in my throat. Yucky feeling. It made my coffee go down slow. This yogurt is causing some strange noises going down. This does not bode well for my dinner plans.

The issue is that space in my tummy is valuable real estate now and it seems to be an all Protein neighborhood! I picked up some vegan Protein shakes today which ima try to sandwich my day with so I can at least fill one meal with veggies. I'm a vegetarian and the whey protein, cheese, yogurt, eggs and tofu diet is starting to make me sick! I'm only 2.5 months out.

Amount of food...Kinda freaking out!
Jordan861 replied to snowkitten's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 4 days from being 2 mths post op. Basically I eat what ever I want - the thicker the food the less I eat. Yogurt - about 4 oz... Fish about 2 oz and a little less than one egg. On the average between 1/4 and 1/2 cup is max. -
Full liquids

I have tried just about all flavors. I do both the powder and the liquid. I have been told NOT to drink the orange cream because it's nasty and that was from the staff. When drinking the powder I use 1 scoop of powder, add 1 spoon of greek yogurt, 1 spoon of powder Peanut Butter, 4 pieces of fruit, ice, sprinkle some ginger on it (for digestive), and 1 cup of almond milk. Blend and it's awesome. If you happen to do 2 scoops of Protein then I double the milk. I even take the GNC mega Vitamins for women in the powder form and I put a scoop of that in there too. I have a video that I created which goes step by step on how I do everything. The liquid I like to drink cold or almost in a slushy form! I drink those when I am on the go. They taste waaayyyy better than the whey powders and better than the Atkins drinks to me. I don't add (too) sugary fruits such as peaches and pineapples, etc. I use anything with a berry at the end because it gives it a hint of sweetness (which it really doesn't need). I also may add banana when I need that potassium. My favorite powder from the collection is Cinnamon Bun and Pina Colada. My favorite from the liquid is strawberry, chocolate and then Vanilla! Hopes this helps -
...just got real!

Update: I have a cold no bueno. I haven't really wanted to eat anything the past couple of days but I know I need to force it down. So far I've added chowder, eggs, chili, lunch meat and Greek yogurt to my allowed foods. Next week - the 29th - I go to all foods. Slowly. I do think I might stay here for a while with these foods because I haven't been able to consistently get in my Protein and Water. When I can do that for at least 5 days straight, I think I'll be good. Hopefully I can do that this week. I'll weigh in tomorrow. Hoping for at least under 260 this time. Haven't started working out really, just light weights. But i will start cardio this Friday when I return from Palm Springs. Hubby is going with me to make sure I'm good. Lol! He's so overprotective these days... -
Of course! 8oz ricotta 1/2 cup cheese-- I used cheddar jack 1 large egg, beaten 1/4 cup fat free Greek yogurt 1/2 small can diced green chilies (mild) Salt and pepper to taste 1/2 cup shredded cheddar jack Lightly beat egg, add to all ingredients (except cheese for topping), mix well. Divide evenly into mini muffin tins. Top with remaining cheese. Bake at 450 for 20 mins. Serve topped with a dollop of ff Greek yogurt. I did not find chiles too spicy or upsetting in any way--everyone is different I'm sure. I did freak out a little with the skins on the green chiles, but they really are already so mushy. This recipe was very much based on Eggface's recipe, which I also enjoy: http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/08/pureed-foods.html?m=1 Though I used a sweet potato tomato sauce instead of marinara because I thought something less acidic would be a good idea (plus I just really enjoy the sauce): http://nataliaskitchen.net/sweet_potato_sauce/ Let me know how you like it!

Janie- Perks of Being a Wallflower, is the book they compared it to. I am about halfway into the curious dog, I don't see the resemblance, but it's a good book too. Well my weirdo dream for last night.. one of my gay buddies from high school was visiting me with his friends that I didn't know. I was really tired, so I went to bed and told them to let themselves out. They were, and I saw them sneaking back in. So I went to look, they were raiding my clothes (which were in the kitchen some reason) and stealing a bunch of PINK SWEATERS. uh huh.. I don't think I own any pink sweaters! Then we got into a fight, and then instantly I was on a road trip with my family & Russell. Russell jumps out of the van at a gas station--while we're still moving, to go to the bathroom. I kept thinking, how is he going to get back up here? And we kept right along.. so I finally made my dad turn around so we could go get him (I was convinced Russell did not think that through). And there was a bridge with a lot of water.. something scary happened that made me wake up in the middle of the night (with really bad arm cramps, I slept on it wrong) freaked out.. but I don't remember what! Finally remembered to bring my yogurt for breakfast, so enjoying that right now. Hope everyone has a good Friday!! TGIF! Oh and I must be oblivious, I don't remember a green shirt boob lady..I did notice a lot of the B&A are named Laura, which I figured had to do with Cookies, they fill in the blank with whatever your name is.

Hmmmm, I never have problems with kettle chips, BUT, that is a problem right there. Just need to stay away from them all together. It turned out to be a gorgeous day here. Spring day and it's beautiful. Went and took lunch to my sis in the hospital and watched tv till she fell asleep. Came home and took the neighborhood kids to the park and walked doggie. We had such a good time. I decided to take them to Sheridan's for some frozen yogurt. Yummmy. Hope you all have had a good day.

Went had my appointment with Malley today. He got his haircut and I didn't get a chance to tell him how much I liked it. He was pretty sympathetic about my not losing any weight. He was just glad I made it thru the holidays without gaining. I'm still upset about it though. I'm a better person than that and I'm bound and determined to not let that happen again. He cranked it down pretty good. I haven't eaten all day and finally had some yogurt for dinner. It's still sitting on my band. Hoping this is the one. Weather is getting ready to turn bad here. It was absolutely beautiful here today. We even took Dogie to the park and walked around. He had a ball. I got called in to work for tomorrow. Will have to see if the sleet starts first, hope all holds off till I can at least get out to vote. Got to do my duty. Judy- A big Thank You to a Guardian Angel. Terri- Still keeping you and your family in my thoughts. Jennifer-?????????? Everyone stay safe and warm evening and talk to you tomorrow.

LOL Jane! I could not have told you her name---but I DO remember Romper Room. We did not get it at home, we were literally in the boonies---but I watched it at my Grandma's. And every now and then, she would say Hi to Kathy, and I remember telling her back, "They call me Kat"!!! I had not thought of that in years!! Last mention I made of Romper Room was to tell a manager at Yellowstone Nat'l. Park, his employees must have all been Romper Room Rejects!!! We had rented a cabin in the park and 3 different times they gave us keys to inhabited cabins. We opened the door---with the key---and there was other peoples things! We could have stolen them blind! So the 2nd time we knocked, sure enough a man answered the door.....when we explained, he too drove back to the office! So everytime we left the cabin we had to load EVERYTHING up because we didn't trust them not to give out OUR key!!! Rotten time!!! It snowed on us, and was the end of June, we took shorts!!! LOL Sitting here letting my hair dry----go to the Dr. this morning to find out about my itching. Woke up less sore this morning tho. Last night I could not even let Kinsey lay on my lap during the debate I was so fricken sore....this morning, with a night of being drugged, and no scratching (well much less) I am better. Eating a piece of peanut butter toast. I am where I want to be weight wise again, and finding it a bit difficult to NOT eat like I did for the week after being put back on food. Since I KNOW I can..... I know peanut butter toast is not the best for me, but it was cold, cereal or yogurt just sounded even colder!!! Terry the dog is a beauty!!! And I can vouch that human thyroid meds are cheap, so I assume dog is the same thing.....dosed accordingly. Mine is in the neighborhood of $3.00 a month. One of my friends on the New Jersey thread (Sherryboberry) has 2 goldens, and she loves them to pieces. They have an older one, then got a fairly young pup---she said the pup was a handful, but has now settled into her routine. She always includes them in her pictures---they are so pretty. Comet needs you!!! TracyKS---will be thinking of you while you are at your Dr. and I am at mine. Of course I might be thinking, I am sure glad I don't have to take my clothes off!!! LOL----good Luck girl!!! Pamela---you a failure? You who has everything going on at once??? When everything is going great, and you have nothing outside of your multiple JOBS to do----it would be difficult to get to your diss and get your chapters finished as quickly as you would like. Now when you add in a relationship, and friends, and lifes ups and downs----and it would seem impossible------but you are doing it! Maybe not as fast as you originally planned, but it IS getting done. Other than the fact we have to call you Dr........is much going to change if it takes a little longer than you hoped? You will still get there---and you won't have ignored yourself, your partner, or your family and friends to the point of alienation. Especially the VIOLETS!!!! LOL You will get there girl, you just have SOOOOO much life going on! You are NOT a failure! Michelle.....quiet? How will you ever take votes if you cannot talk my friend??? Hope you are speaking up soon!!! I get laryngitis like that, feel fine, just have no voice! I feel for ya!! Judy, Haydee, Jane, Suzanne, Laura, TracyK, Jenn, Gina, Denise--------I am thinking about you, but must get ready for the Dr. Kinsey is still sleeping so have to allow for time to deal with the grumpies from waking her up!!! Will check back when I get back home. Oh yeah, when it rains it pours---they screwed Ricks check up--so even if it had deposited it would have had to have been fixed. They paid him for a weeks vacation! For no reason, and we do not want to buy out a week! (deeeeeeeeeep sigh inserted here) hopefully it won't take long...... Kat

Laura - I think that casserole sounds YUMMY! Asparagus is my fave too! Your sister is just plain odd. That's all there is to it. Kat - Have you looked up the patient info for Zyrtec? Might shed some light on the sitcheeayshun. Maybe you're anemic? I know after the CRAP I've been eating that I probably am. What I had today: oatmeal, coffee 1/3 c mashed potatos, small amt of squash, 1/4 c. chili cottage cheese & strawberries, granola on top 1/4 of a turkey wrap (got stuck), potato chips and ranch dressing vanilla froz yogurt cone Gee, I wonder why I'm not losing weight????????????? Gonna try to wean off of my Lexapro over the next few weeks. Wish me luck! It'd be nice to be off of meds. I have NO sex drive. I'm hoping it's the drugs and not a permanent state. Oy. I'm pooped. Nighty-night.

Hi all, I have not been keeping up with this board for quite a while, have been sooo busy! I went last week to the BC and had all of the fill taken out. I was soooooooo sick and tired of the pain with every bite, and the throwing up! I could not even get down yogurt. So, I had it emptied for a few months to give it all a rest! The BC sent me in for an upper GI which I had done this week, dont know the results yet. Have any of yous had this problem? It seems they cannot find the right "fill" for me, a small amount is just too much, and none is not enouf! At this point, I am so tired of it, dont know if I will ever get another fill, it seems like I am doing quite well like it is now. I still have some restriction, but now without the pain. I have been stuck on losing and gaining the same 8 pounds for months. No words can describe how great I felt when all of the "fill" was taken out!!!! It was relaxing for the first time in a long time! I was so upset that I even had the band put in, now I feel better. The band has never been what I thought it would be. I thought that you could eat most things only a small amount and you would be full, and stop eating. That is NEVER how it has been. Most of the year I ate very little food, and most of it always got stuck! Any opinions would be helpful. Thanks.

I had a yogurt for b'fast.. and lots of meds.. and ate 1/2 of an oatmeal packet for lunch.. and I felt like barfing.. was soo much in my wee lil pouch (haha). I'm makin somethin yum tonight to celebrate with DH! I live in Alabama.. Party in 'Bama! Only way to stop crack (CRACK IS WHACK!!) is to flush it!!!

I'm so jealous! I can't wait to eat again! Haha. Today is my last day on clears and tomorrow I'm good for full liquids. I know I can't eat any of it, but everyone's food has been smelling so good and making me miss eating ANYTHING. I'm very excited to have a little yogurt or oatmeal! That incision (where they pull your stomach out) is the worst for me too! All the others seem to be fine. I don't even feel them anymore. I also had a hernia repair during the surgery, so internally I'm super sore. It's not as bad as I expected though. I had a c-section with my son, and I feel like that recovery was agonizing in comparison. I have a post-op appointment tomorrow, so I'm going to mention some of your suggestions to see if I can try them too! All suggestions are definitely appreciated. We're in this together! Meg xoxo

I think alot of it just different doctor preferences. I had surgery on a friday went hom sat night. Doc told.me i could very soft foods monday. I eat chili, eggs, yogurt for a week. My check up he said i could start eatting small bites of any meat just chew very well. Ive had zero complications no sickness and 6 weeks out today and lost 62 lbs. So dont be afraid to eat little things just small bites, chew ALOT, and most importantly dont over eat Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
