Waiting for approval in GA

Thanks for the reply - I'm in North Central Ga - near Athens. Great area! I'm a total KETO failure, but I think that a lot of that has to do with me being a vegetarian for 28 years. It's hard to be veggie keto when every model of the program is telling you to eat bacon, and pork rinds for treats. I still can't help but be worried. I am going to call tomorrow and see if there is any news or the like regarding my case. I honestly thought six months would drag by slowly, but It's almost February already - March will be here soon! Fingers crossed for the approval news! -

Hey! I’m in Georgia too... Near Augusta. My insurance required all that and I am finally having my surgery a week from today. During my 6 month observation I went up and down, finally ending up right where I started. I only really started losing weight after the first of the year. I went on Keto to lesson the effects of the Keto flu when on liquid diet- it worked! As as far as your question- no I wasn’t turned down. But as my doctor explained it’s prob because they try to rush everybody through at the end of the year so they can leave for the holidays. This isn’t helpful to you in your situation, I know, but stick with it. Pray about it. And most of all, love yourself. You didn’t get here overnight. -

There is a bariatric recipe group on Facebook but so much of them are "keto" which isn't healthy for me personally (I can't do high fat, I don't handle it well). I do intend to remain low carb so some posts and recipe ideas are helpful. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk -

I’m sure that’s part of the case too, but I know I’m very restricted to fats (utilize my Nuts minimum) and not a keto diet. Perhaps, many of us don’t have enough fats in our program -

I’ve been trying to keep busy so that I’m not aware of my hunger. One saving grace for me was that I did Keto diet since Jan 2 (had to have my pork, greens, and cornbread on the 1st- I am from Georgia afterall!!) Anywho- Keto makes you less hungry. Unfortunately only consuming 900 calories a day counteracts that. Hahaha Overall it was a good visit- but I have two questions so I’m calling Monday. Am I supposed to keep the hospital band they gave me on and the paperwork from the surgeon says I’m supposed to bring a breathing thing they were to give me but I didn’t get one.... questions only for the hospital!! I’ll be around tho- you know I can’t stay away!! Just know when I’m on here I’m prob stuffing my face with either sugar free jello or sugar free popsicles. Hahaha -

I use Carb Manager. I use to use MFP but i didnt like the set up. Even though Carb Manager is more for someone who is on the Keto diet, i think it works well for the average person too.

Wednesday, Jan 15 Maintenance : 5'2" / 1yr PO Sleeve / 115.4 lbs ---------------------------------------- Had a couple late night visitors last night and my day's menu went out the window. I had given up halfway into the night logging into MFP cuz I knew it was going to be crazy, but I then I relented later on and logged the rest anyway after the fact. I'm pretty sure I got everything... NOTE 1: I hesitate to post these kinds of days on here cuz I'm not sure how it is going to be received or influence, but it is what it is, so just remember, I am NOT in weight loss mode and eating a menu like the one described below may/will affect you differently than ME. ---------------------------------------- 9:30am - 1 black coffee + 1 skinny chai tea latte 12:30pm - salad w/ vinaigrette + cucumber + carrots + jalapeno + 1 oz apple + 6 green grapes + 2.5 oz avocado + 3.5 oz pan fried chicken 3:30pm - 1 skinny chai tea latte + 1/3 cup cottage cheese + 1/2 oz pumpkin seeds + 1 oz blueberries + 1 oz dark chocolate + 1/3 cup cashews 6:00pm - salad w/ vinaigrette + cucumber + carrots + 6 green grapes + 1oz avocado + 1 oz apple + 2 tbsp Pico De Gallo 9:30pm to 3:30am: salad w/ vinaigrette + 3.5 oz pan fried chicken + 2 tsp spicy crunchy chili oil + 1/2 avocado 1/2 cup cottage cheese + 1 fl oz pumpkin seeds + 1 oz blueberries 3oz deluxe mixed nuts 3oz various cheeses 1 slice prosciutto 1 tbsp fig jam 1/2 tbsp balsamic glaze 2 After Eight chocolate mint wafer 1/2 oz candied ginger 4 KETO chocolate cookies w/ 1 tbsp almond butter & 1/2 tbsp gingerbread cookie butter 3 skinny amaretto sours << I got mild symptoms (slightly racing heart, lethargy, though I was pretty tipsy by then) after the second mixed drink around midnight, went away in about an hour and then drank a 3rd one over a longer period of time with no ill effects...unless you count the small watery-ish poop I had this morning...?) 2.5 glasses of wine ---------------------------------------- Totals: 3573 cals - 161g Protein - 201g NET carbs - 203g fat

I am not misunderstanding. at my weight i can burn 600-800 for an hour of high intensity working out. I also work in a profession on set where I am up and moving around for easily 14- 16 hours a day, sometimes 20 hours. if your resting metabolic burn- as in sitting on a couch all day is say 2400 and then ontop of that you Burn another 2000 between workouts and moving around all day your full calories burned over the course of a 24 hr period is 4400. It is absolutely possible. and then subtract what you eat and thats your deficit. But here's a story for you. i worked several season on the B1ggest Loser show. They often worked out 8 hours a day. Everything they ate was controlled down the the precise calories macros you name it. On average they would hit a Minimum 5000 calorie deficit burn from exercise a day many would burn way more 6000-7000 A DAY- and they would get on the scale (especially the women) and lose 0 lbs or 2 lbs or 3 lbs... all of the time. their calories in and out in no way on earth reflected 3500= 1 lbs. And the women (and men) who had always been overweight lost much slower than the ones who had once been thin but then gained weight. The fact is Drs are learning moe and more all of the time about the microbiome and how a 100 of spinach isn't the same was as 100 cals of a candy bar and the way you body processes it is different. It is why people who eat all raw or Keto can eat a TON of calories and still lose. They dont even count calories and they lose weight hand over fist. So Dont tell me what You know when most drs are only still figuring it out and there is tons of research talking about the microbiome now. Ion fact studies were done on people who were on the Biggest loser and how afterwards their metabolisms change so significantly that even eating 1200 cals a day they gained weight.... because their bodies were fighting like hell to go back to their set point of weight. because your body has a set point. Any other person would lose on that amount but they gained... and they couldn't work out enough to maintain because they were having to do 2 or more hours every days and eat 1200 cals or less just to maintain their weight. Never underestimate the power of the human body to do what ever the heck it wants... -

I hear you. I think the best advice - knowing everyones body is very different of course - I have seen /used to break a stall is Intermittent Fasting, Upping my water and protein, lowering carbs below 30 (sometimes even KETO so more healthy fats) and if say you have been really low on calories I just upped mine and the scale moved again. Which really messes with your head. Or at least it did mine. I have PCOS, I am insulin resistant, I have endometriosis AND I am hypothyroid all four which just make me a slower loser. Its hard to wrap your head around the fact that sometimes you need more CARBS or Calories to get the scale to move... I just keep ploughing forward and then if I stall- which is ALOT- i try to mix it up. And I am here for encouragement and i hope others are too vs casting blame or suspicions on others. Life is too short for the BS and negativity. Some people get dealt a crappier hand and its okay to get bummed out by that because you are human and have good days and bad days and thats OK. I tend to be very glass half full but every once in a blue moon I get frustrated and its okay to feel that way because thats how you move through the emotion to a better place. At the end of the day i am still going to wake up and try. I ran into my old trainer the other day at the gym (she left to go to law school) and she was blown away with how much I have lost and how I look and she texted me after and said I am so proud of you for never giving up because i know all of your health issues and how hard you work but you never ever give up and you should be proud of yourself. I say this because its a good reminder that waking up every day and trying sometimes is the biggest win of all. And there is no crime in encouraging people... That said i know for a fact I have stalled more than a week and it had nothing to do with calories. My surgeon and my Drs all attribute that to the above mentioned medical issues I have. But I can only speak to my body as you can only speak to yours. And to other we should speak with the kindness we wish to get in return. Life is too short for anything else. -
hey , you already said it yourself.. this is the honeymoon phase and the reese's peanut butter cups can wait till you reach your goal... Keto is fine , nothing against it but I say work your sleeve plan protein and water and( vegetable carbs )only. No rice, no pasta,no bread for now . I was told until at least six months.. you got this .. We did not go through ALL this to cheat ourselves out of the maximum loss possible this six months.... I have been losing inches , not so much pounds . gone from size 22 to size 16 but was 232 day of surgery and 218 now so it's not always the pounds we should be proud of... are you using a tracker? Bariastic tracker is so easy I like it better than fitnesspal . Consider your official kick in the ASS..... now do better...…………...

Thank you for sharing. I'm wondering where everyone else is at now that our diet is "regular?" I have been doing my best to follow a certain diet, but gave up on the keto diet about 2 weeks ago. Since adding carbs back into my diet I have absolutely no problem getting at least 1000 calories per day, sometimes I may eat more. Of course my weight loss has slowed to a snails pace. Last week was only 0.8 pounds and this week seems like it will be less. I need to get myself back into gear. I need to log my foods and stop "cheating" with Recese's peanut butter cups. I'm just being honest, and I'm wondering if anyone else has fallen off the band wagon as horribly as I have? If not, someone please give me some kick in the ass words of encouragement, and I am going to switch gears before the time passes and I am out of this initial 6 month honeymoon phase. Sincerely, Week #6 post op And 35 lbs lost since surgery (Not enough weight lost for me to give up after everything I've been through)

Yesterday, Friday, Jan. 10 Maintenance : 5'2" / 1yr PO Sleeve / 115.4 lbs ---------------------------------------- Purposefully ate little during the day as we had planned to go out for dinner at one of my fave french restaurants. Sadly, for various unremarkable reasons, we ended up at an Italian restaurant, which was ok, but I was looking forward to something else, so it was kinda a letdown. I ended up drinking more than I ate. Yesterday, Wednesday, Jan. 8 Maintenance : 5'2" / 1yr PO Sleeve / 116.5 lbs ---------------------------------------- Am having a low-key pity party for myself this AM. First, I found the the 6-ish lbs I lost after surgery, ... and I think I have these effing sugar-free chocolates to thank. What was once what I thought a cool treat and thanked Mr for, I now think is my kryptonite and curse the day Mr. brought them home! Though I don't think its actually possible for me to put on 6 lbs of actual fat weight on in a week (just like it was unlikely that I could lose 6 lbs of actual weight in 2 weeks, given my current size) , it still sorta messes with my mind. I counted just now and I have 6 Russel Stovers and 8 Reese's left. I am having internal arguments with myself to just chuck em. Part of me says just get rid of them cuz if they are around I'll just keep eating them, but another part of me says its a waste. The really stupid thing is there is a whole bunch of regular, NON-sugar free chocolate in the pantry (as there always is as the Kid and Mr love REAL chocolate) but I don't seem to go to town on those! WTF. So far, the non-waster in me is winning, but we'll see... Second, I haven't pooped since the unfortunate dumping episode on Sunday, so there's that. And finally, my boob hurts, but I'll write about that in the PS thread... ---------------------------------------- 8:00am - coffee-cayenne w/ stevia 2:00pm - salad w/ vinaigrette + cucumber + 3 naked chicken wings + 1 tbsp blue cheese dip (seriously this one order of chicken wings supplied me for 4 meals!) 7:00pm - salad w/ vinaigrette + cucumber + 5 naked chicken wings + 1 tbsp blue cheese dip + 2.5 oz grilled chicken 10:30pm - 5 Keto Bagel Chips + 1/4 cup coconut curry sauce + 3 sugar-free Russel Stover chocolates + 1 sugar-free Reese's mini Peanut Butter cup + 3oz baked ham + 1 tsp horseradish mustard ---------------------------------------- Totals: 1312 cals - 117g Protein - 30g NET carbs - 80g fat

Dear Lord! That should count for all least 500 calories PER CHILD!!! That is how I do my math...LOL... I can TOTALLY understand wanting to eat 'all the things' when they crash...may be the first time you've been able to actually eat sometimes and I'm recalling that from having only 2 kids....LOL..OMG, I was a sedentary Mom in comparison too..to be honest, I was in decent shaped in my 20's, was never morbidly/super morbidly obese until my late 30's and wow did it take a toll on this poor body. I have made myself one rule for late night eating that...sigh....I have not enforced the past 3 weeks and that is anything I eat late at night (ok, for me this is like 11 PM...I work globally so I can be up as early as 7 AM CST and work sometimes until 2 or 3 AM depending on what we are working on - this does NOT help my overall health - lots of shift work disorder issues. Oh, back to rules: 1) It needed to be less than 20% of my overall calories for the day. I then made it really simple and stuck to sugar free jello, sugar free popsicles..basically anything under 100 calories 2) It needed to NOT be in my bedroom, on the couch or in a recliner. If I was hungry enough to eat, I needed to eat it at my dining table even if the lights were completely off (husband has normal job) I had to make these rules because as I was watching my 600 lb life I realized I was slowly trapping myself into exactly what I was watching - ppl who had to struggle so hard to do anything, losing the ability to get out of bed, ONLY being able to eat on a bed...and reminded myself at 390...I was SO CLOSE to being on that show. Not that there is any shame in that but things were hard enough, embarrassing enough, and with the knee injury from working out ironically, I finally had a true physical limitation where I had never had one before..not even at 390 - I could walk across entire warehouses with no issue. ONLY 1/2 of my weight loss that is shown came from 'after WLS' - the first half took me 15 mos of TRULY dedicated keto and moving some..until I tore left meniscus on right knee running down stairs (BAD idea for working out, by the way)...then 4 mos later, I tore the right meniscus (same knee) walking down a hill. I knew when I struggled to walk, to do grocery shopping..that I had to make a major change and that for me was WLS. I had considered it for 3+ years and prepped for it - mentally and physically....obviously mental is an ongoing work in process. -

OK, I feel compelled to be honest....I did try drinking on the cruise...and honestly..it gave me no issues (pouch-wise, i mean)..however in hindsight..and I had determined this by day 3 or 4 of the 7 day cruise, it just doesn't do anything for me that makes it worth the calories. No soda means no 'keto/low carb' drinks with just diet coke. Honestly, not a big deal in my mind to eliminate soda from my life anyways - never was a huge soda drinker. I DID try drinks that had VERY high calories as they were mainly fruit juice based (Hurricanes, Rum Punch). HONESTLY, NOT WORTH IT for me. If I had not done this, I feel I likely would have shown a weight loss when I got back. Not interested in switching addictions around...no plans to go back to even my..what was maybe a once monthly drink or glass of wine. All I generally felt in the end when I drank was feeling tired, draggy...and a bit disappointed that I had had the drink..I'm sure my blood sugar had to be through the roof (no am not diabetic but am not interested in retaining anything that is high in sugar in my life so this includes 'fruity drinks'). In the end, I got more of a "buzz" out of being able to WALK! To fit in ONE AIRPLANE SEAT! NOT NEEDING A SEATBELT EXTENDER!! WOOT WOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
