How can I get a revision gastric sleeve approved? Had my surgery August 2018 started at 248 lowest at 170 and now I’m up at 195. I can’t seem to loose any more weight. But I don’t know how I would be able to get a revision. Any suggestions?

Obsessing about Plastic Surgery!!
Darktowerdream replied to ChubRub's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
@ms.sss I just wanted to answer since you so kindly wrote this. You are very right. And people don’t quite think how different people are. Ie. Some people can tolerate carbs others can’t, etc. I had someone tell me to exercise it off, most people can’t understand that a medical condition could exist that exercise can be damaging. Because the world sees it as healthy. It is, so I walk a fine line because I need to try to stay on my feet, mobile not bed bound at the same time exertion that most people take for granted is extremely taxing. Honestly this is compelling my pursuit of plastics now vs later. While I still can. Before my health declines too much that surgery isn’t an option anymore. It will be a challenge. But I will eat healthy, take supplements, and do everything I can. There isn’t any cure for what I have it’s not getting better. I want to see a body I never had and maybe even feel some small amount of confidence in it that this bullied autistic girl with chronic illness never got to have growing up. on a lighter note. It’s weird I’ve avoided mirrors for so long especially out shopping. Not that I can go shopping these days but caught glimpse and still kind of don’t look and it’s like is that me? 🤣 ugh you are right though it’s hilarious they don’t talk about fat but skinny omg you are too skinny. I haven’t gotten that yet except my mom keeps saying I’m skinnier than her I’m like Mom you have muscles I don’t 😂 and an actual butt. She has always been thin. We ate basically the same foods, I gained weight she stayed the same ... actually I ate less carbs and calories and still gained. So I’m grateful for gastric bypass surgery for finally helping my efforts work. -
Bypass - How Far Will I Be Able to Walk?
catwoman7 replied to cowgirlcullen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the recovery on bypass isn't any different than recovery on sleeve. You'll be fine. I was walking right away and driving at a week out. I could have easily gone back to work at that point if I wanted to, too. -
Bypass - How Far Will I Be Able to Walk?
ChubRub replied to cowgirlcullen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 10 days out you will be fine to do all of that walking!! You would probably be fine 3 days after! The biggest part of bypass recovery for me was the fatigue. I wasn't in pain, could walk around, I just needed 2 naps a day! LOL!! For peace of mind you could always book the wheelchair service, and then cancel it if you don't need it! -
Bypass - How Far Will I Be Able to Walk?

Hey ya'll, my big day is coming on Monday! I am flying to Las Vegas from Montana to do my surgery, a 2 hour direct flight, but I am concerned with when I will be able to come home. Right now I am scheduled to fly back 10 days after surgery, but I would like to make it sooner if possible. I know there are follow-up appointments and such, but I am doing all of that in Montana. The biggest challenge is getting from the Uber car to my airplane seat. I am not sure how long that walk through the airport will be, but how soon will it be doable do you think? I am getting the bypass by the way, which can be a more challenging recovery compared to the sleeve, from what I understand. Thanks so much! -
I'm no expert cuz I'm pre-op but I've been doing a lot of reading about Stalls and that you should be measuring your body during those times instead of weighing. Are you post menopausal? I've also read that could make the loss slower. Having said all that... think 35 pounds in 3 months is INCREDIBLE! I hope you feel accomplished. In closing... having researched Bypass like it's my PHD dissertation I would say most people experience the rush of loss and then a sudden crawl and most people say it picks back up again. Good luck, keep plowing ahead and keep us updated!!

My opinion DS, just going by the Numbers and long term weight loss maintenance. Full disclosure I am considering a sleeve to DS revision myself. -
Hi all June 8th for me! Having the bypass and 9 days into my two week liquid diet. I’m hanging in there.

most people lose more weight with the DS, and it's easier to maintain your loss, but like Superman said, there's a greater chance of vitamin deficiencies with it since A LOT more of your small intestine is bypassed. But other than that, I'm not sure what to tell you. I know some DS'ers have to educate their PCP's and other doctors on the DS when things happen because it's not a common surgery - whereas RNY is very common so doctors are going to be pretty familiar with that (if this is even an issue for you...). I don't know - they're both good surgeries. -

Duo switch should lose quicker bit can have issues with deficiencies more so than a bypass as it is more aggressive. I had the bypass and I've lost over 150lbs already -

Obsessing about Plastic Surgery!!
summerset replied to ChubRub's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
@Darktowerdreamwhat catwoman said. I'm not trying to give someone a guilt trip - why should I? In the end everyone has to to make a decision. If people want to rush it - I can understand. I was in the same place several years ago. I just wanted to be over with this whole sh*t! Now I'm glad I didn't rush it because of weight loss due to revision. Imagine having plastics and then losing more weight. All wrinkly/saggy again and it doesn't need much weight to come off when you're in a normal BMI range to notice the change. -
that's why I try to remember to spell things out (there are lots of acronyms in the bariatric community!) - but GB is gastric bypass (also called RNY) and NUT is nutritionist.

That's why I'm glad now I postponed for so long. It's only 1 BMI point (about 3 kg) I dropped after revision but damn... it shows when it comes to the skin... I would never have imagined. -

Things are still moving along. I never did lose my energy which is great except I am still having pain on right side. I still think it is a pulled muscle from not being still. I am giving it until Thursday which will be a week from when it started to call the Dr. office. I had a scrambled egg for breakfast yesterday and today with no issues. I did have coffee this morning with my fake sugar and creamer and it doesn't appear that I will be a dumper . I have not been sick or nauseated since surgery. Could someone please tell me what are portion sizes this early out for bypass. I still don't have feeling and the few times I had cottage cheese I used 1/4 cup to measure. I did measure with sleeve the first 18 months but even in beginning I didn't eat the whole portion we were allowed because my sleeve said no. My understanding with this pouch is you don't want to eat one bite over so I have been pretty careful. -
Obsessing about Plastic Surgery!!
Darktowerdream replied to ChubRub's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I like part of the op that says having surgery is a way to enforce staying at a healthy weight. I feel that way too not as much to enforce it but to solidify that a goal has been reached that wasn’t before. I lost weight before but metabolic disorders and surgery and life and stress got the best of me. So I’m hoping the combination of gastric bypass surgery and now plastics will solidify that I’ve reached a goal I never could before. I still panic a bit when the scale moves but I have to assure myself that because it went from 102.2 To 103.1 Over the past few days is more likely my working in my maintenance calories, the stress of some problems with my flight, not feeling well, ate something that bloated me, Maybe the peaches 🍑 but I read it’s good for hemoglobin. Or just something minor I did that I should not worry but I do, and I probably should be at a bit higher weight before the procedure anyway? sorry I go off on tangents. I meant to say @Sophie7713 you look awesome and thank you. I will try to keep things updated here. I can’t imagine signing a waiver to share photos with the hospital to share in their social media group. It’s a private group. I’m an even more private person. I have no pictures of myself or very few. None of myself heavy except one I didn’t know and didn’t want taken. It was my birthday right before surgery at my heaviest it was at the zoo, the most unflattering shot the zoo took of me bending over to feed the flamingos while I loved the experience it was sad and painful. And it ended up being more for my mother and her friends. I didn’t know yet if I would even be able to have surgery. im leaving earlier then expected. I fly out June 13th for June 15th surgery and return June 21st. It’s a long flight home ... some small part of me that isn’t exhausted is very excited 😜 about it and I love the cartoon. Some positions it’s like You can try and pretend skin what skin others it’s like where did this shar pei come from 🤣 -
Maybe worth spending six months with a bariatric dietician or nutritionist see how you go? If you don't have any restricition anymore though, maybe worth your while to see a surgeon about your revision options.
