Should have waited for Fecal Transplant
New&Improved replied to over65's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've watched documentaries where they are treating serious bowel issues with fecal transplant in humans and it has helped... I feel the bypass has totally changed my metabolism and the way my body now processes food like now I'm in maintenance in eating more calories and still staying the same weight where before surgery I would put on weight so easily... It's like I have a thin persons body and mind now -
It is still major surgery and your stomach/bypass will be new so I suggest starting slowly on a liquid diet for even a week plz don't rush into solids

Welcome, Travis! I'm Bypass too. June 9th. Onward!

MAY-JUNE-JULY 2020 BYPASSERS UNITE!! Veterans Welcome too!
MaybeMeow replied to MaybeMeow's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
PS: The prep portion of my day today was reading old Bypass posts. Today's posts were largely positive and have filled me with more peace about this decision than I've had so far. There are people who have minimal pain including little gas, are home less than 24 hours later, can take their fluids, meds, and protein with ease, and feel downright good in a few days post surgery. Then you can click on their later posts and see their successful numbers. That is the goal. I'm going to meditate on it. For all of us!! -
There is no universal RNY or WLS or VSG diet, as doctors and diets vary all over the map. If the surgeon who did your bypass is the same as the one who did your sleeve, then most likely the diets will be the same as most doctors do the same thing for all of their patients. Some might be more restrictive than others for their bypass patients, fearing something getting stuck in the stoma (but again, they usually apply the same instructions to their VSG patients as well, even though they don't have a stoma.) You may find diet guidelines from another practice online, but no guarantees as to whether is fits with your doctor's instructions (some surgeons would have an absolute fit if their patients used our surgeon's diet progression!) If you keep things on the liquidy side this first week or two, that will be consistent with most surgeons' instructions

I am 7 days out now from a revision bypass. I am feeling pretty good. Out of shape it seems but I know it’s major surgery. I had a umbilical hernia repair on top of it. Caffeine withdrawal headache was a killer but it has pretty much subsided. My thing is, is my diet protocol the same as the sleeve. Can you recommend a site or a possibly printable friendly list. It seems I have to be more careful this time around. One the hernia heals I think I’ll be doing a lot better. My nutritionist wasn’t this helpful this time around and I go back to the surgeon on Monday and also the 25th. Thanks.

Obsessing about Plastic Surgery!!
Darktowerdream replied to ChubRub's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
@2Bsmaller18 thank you for the information I’ve been searching Amazon but get overwhelmed. I had this in my cart but wasn’t sure. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OV3M3AW/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_1?smid=A7H37HS2706TH&psc=1 the links and tips help a lot! I didn’t think to skin test it first. Perhaps I will try doing paper tape, then silicone tape, then gel or cream ... at least on the areas that need it most or get the most tug from movement. I never used anything on any of my incisions before. But these are a lot more. I only have one from my gastric bypass that has a large hard lump underneath. I might ask the plastic surgeon if he can address it. when I feel in control, when I know what is happening ... I know what to do and I deal well with pain and things like this. I’ve had to do a lot of post op self care over the years ... But when things are chaos or questions without answers that’s when I lose it ... -
This may sound nuts but if your problem is that you have no room because too much was removed, how about a bypass ? Everything will slide through except proteins and I haven't gotten to those yet to know but I do know I am 2 weeks post revision from sleeve to bypass and everything just flows right through so far. I have not felt restriction. I am taking in 700 calories 2 weeks out and could take in more without much problem. Just a thought Good luck to you

Did you see big changes after 3 months?
2Bsmaller18 posted a topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I am at 3 months post brachio and revised tummy tuck (skin only not muscle). I had a 3 month follow up and he pointed to a few areas like by my elbows and on one side on my stomach and said it still a little swollen. I know it takes a year to see more of a final result but I kind of assumed that once the initial swelling was gone after 2-3 months any changes after would be very subtle. My waist is measuring 31 inches. I don't feel swollen but has anyone else really seen a big difference this far out. Could I go down a whole inch from here? I think he will need to go back in another 6 months to fix some bagginess and skin laxity still near my armpit and he agreed. I also have 2 areas with a tiny fold or pucker of the skin at the incision line. I asked about my scars that are still red and was given the 1 year answer but I am hopeful that in the next few months it will start to fade some. He wanted me to continue silicone tape or cream or even coconut cream but said to NOT use Bio oil. He said it is not good for post surgical scars. -

Dr. Francisco Gonzalez and/or Oasis of Hope - Any Feedback?

Did you have your surgery on 3/27?? I'm scheduled for 6/20... I'm having a revision from the sleeve to the DS... how did things go for you? -
My research suggests that revisions from sleeve tend to be either to DS or to bypass, with a very few being a resleeve done in certain cases, such as if the sleeve was oversized or defective in some way. At your current weight (assuming it is still less than 35 BMI?) I don’t know what the requirements might be unless you have serious Gerd or other issues? I know regain is a legit reason but I don’t know if they make you wait or what. Do you know why you have regained?

When researching my revision, I remember seeing a 5 year period was required by my carrier between WLS.

Moving to Norway right after surgery, scared of doing post-op diet in a foreign country
California Guy replied to MoominMan's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I'm a picky eater too. I got through the pre/post op diet just fine, twice. Once for the Sleeve and once for the bypass. My first two weeks post op included 3 protein shakes a day, water, chicken or beef broth, non-fat yogurt, sugar free popsicles, sugar free pudding prepared from a powder mix, and sugar free sports drinks like gatorade. Since you only follow this diet for two weeks, you could pack a box of supplies and bring them with you. My second two weeks include eggs, string cheese, applesauce, bananas, mashed potatoes, yogurt, creamy peanut butter. I also make home made turkey chili and puree it. During this phase you can have everything from the Liquids only phase, but I was ready for new food. I was told if you can get protein from natural sources, it is better than getting it from protein shakes. The last phase will be soft foods which allow more meats, cereals, toast, pasta, vegetables, and cheeses. You should get a list from your nutritionist, but there are several informative lists online. Search for a Post Op bariatric surgery diet. You'll want to purchase a large supply of bariatric vitamins online as those are usually difficult to fine in stores. My Doctor asked me to wait two weeks post OP to start vitamins to avoid nausea. I wish you good luck with your surgery, travels and studies. Sounds like you are really getting a new start this year. -
Obsessing about Plastic Surgery!!

Have you been on the RealSelf site or app? I’m only 2 1/2 weeks out after having gastric bypass, but a mommy makeover is on my list of to-do’s and I’m obsessed with that app. -
Moving to Norway right after surgery, scared of doing post-op diet in a foreign country
MoominMan posted a topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Was hoping to have bypass surgery in July (in Estonia!) but travel restrictions are making that difficult. August seems more likely now. I am an extremely fussy eater. It's not just not liking certain foods, its fear - I'm genuinely scared of that feeling when you first try something new. Putting unknown things in my mouth, strange textures, it's horrible. That's a battle I'm going to have to finally fight in the first 8-10 weeks of the post-op diet. I had hoped to do those stages in the UK where I am more familiar with the foods available, and where there are a couple of WLS-friendly foods which I can tolerate. But I'm moving to Norway in late August for a year to do a university course. Moving abroad so soon after WLS is bad enough, but I am particularly nervous about doing the post-op diet in a foreign country, in a small town with limited food shops, where I don't know any of the brands. What can I do to make it easier? Am I overthinking how difficult the early stages of the post-op diet are? And... on the off-chance anyone here is from Norway, what foods did you eat after surgery? -

Revision completed
GG926 replied to Tracyringo's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Why did you have a revision to bypass when you weigh so little, just curious -
You need to get back on the wagon. I honestly don't see how a revision could help anyone lose weight if they aren't following a program to begin with. You can do this please try and go back to clean eating. Have you tried the 5 day reset ?
-
About the only way you can get revision is serious GERD. But weight gain that soon after sleeve may indicate to some surgeons you aren't ready to undergo another procedure. Check with your bariatric center and see if what you are eating is contributing to weight gain. (are you back to old habits like soda, fast food, junk food, snacking, grazing, etc,). Also be aware that some medications can cause weight gain. Check any meds you take for weight gain as side effect. You need to figure out what is really going on before considering surgery again. With the restriction gone from sleeve, your weight now depends on you and see what you can do to fix problem. Getting regular exercise? Sent from my SM-T580 using BariatricPal mobile app

Weight Loss Journey Challenges--HELP
MISTY_CEE035 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello Group! Today is my first day here onsite. I started my lifestyle change on 3/9/2009 when I had my WLS-Lapband. I went through some immediate results but 6 years later I developed an erosion in the mouth of the stomach that caused my tool to be removed. I experienced a rapid weight gain! On April 19 2016, my surgeon revisited my case and I was approved for a revision. We agreed on the Gastric Bypass. The surgery went well. I take my vitamins, eat right etc. On august 16, 2019 I underwent the Panniculectomy surgery which went very well. The recovery process was about a month. I am very happy with the results. Now, what I am currently experiencing is the UPs and Downs of weight loss and weight gain due to the unprecedented times we are experiencing and the challenges we faces each day. In March 2020, I was required to work from home which was great but the exercising has been limited. OMG how I miss the gym... I visited my nutritionist and she recommended I join this website for some guidance, support or even a fruitful tip that can keep me motivated. I do not wish to go backwards, I want to continue losing and I just seem to have lost sight. HELP -
How can I get a revision gastric sleeve approved? Had my surgery August 2018 started at 248 lowest at 170 and now I’m up at 195. I can’t seem to loose any more weight. But I don’t know how I would be able to get a revision. Any suggestions?

Obsessing about Plastic Surgery!!
Darktowerdream replied to ChubRub's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
@ms.sss I just wanted to answer since you so kindly wrote this. You are very right. And people don’t quite think how different people are. Ie. Some people can tolerate carbs others can’t, etc. I had someone tell me to exercise it off, most people can’t understand that a medical condition could exist that exercise can be damaging. Because the world sees it as healthy. It is, so I walk a fine line because I need to try to stay on my feet, mobile not bed bound at the same time exertion that most people take for granted is extremely taxing. Honestly this is compelling my pursuit of plastics now vs later. While I still can. Before my health declines too much that surgery isn’t an option anymore. It will be a challenge. But I will eat healthy, take supplements, and do everything I can. There isn’t any cure for what I have it’s not getting better. I want to see a body I never had and maybe even feel some small amount of confidence in it that this bullied autistic girl with chronic illness never got to have growing up. on a lighter note. It’s weird I’ve avoided mirrors for so long especially out shopping. Not that I can go shopping these days but caught glimpse and still kind of don’t look and it’s like is that me? 🤣 ugh you are right though it’s hilarious they don’t talk about fat but skinny omg you are too skinny. I haven’t gotten that yet except my mom keeps saying I’m skinnier than her I’m like Mom you have muscles I don’t 😂 and an actual butt. She has always been thin. We ate basically the same foods, I gained weight she stayed the same ... actually I ate less carbs and calories and still gained. So I’m grateful for gastric bypass surgery for finally helping my efforts work.
