What ya eating tonight?
Lisa Collom replied to OleHippieGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, I didn't manage both. However, that's only 1/4 cup of tuna, 1 Tb light mayo, 1 tsp Greek yogurt and onions on top of two small tomato slices, topped with a total of 1 Tb of reduced fat cheese. The lettuce leaves were about 4-5 inches in diameter. All total it was about 1/2 cup of food. I ate 1 and 1/2. It's 166 calories, totally yummy and satisfying. -

I just wanted to update for those who are headed to surgery soon. I am one week and a day since sleeve surgery and I’m pretty much feeling 100%. I didn’t really ever have pain from the wounds. I did experience gas, I wouldn’t call it pain but it was very uncomfortable. It lasted about 24 hours and got better with walking. I had minor pain when I left the hospital but Im a single mom with a one year old and it was hard not to pick him up. I had to lift him onto the changing table, give him baths, etc you know regular mom stuff. That pain subsided pretty quickly too and I didn’t have to use pain meds much. Being on liquids again for another 2 weeks is the worst part but it’s not unbearable. It was difficult for me to get a protein shake down this first week. They just felt heavy and sweet and weren’t setting right but I kept trying different ones and found ones that I could tolerate. Protein water has been a life saver. I found some sipping soups yesterday that have been helping me feel more satisfied. I also talked to my surgeon’s office and they told me I could try some Greek yogurt and that went well today. I went back to work day 6. I’m a teacher and all my student are virtual for now so I’m basically just sitting in front of a computer all day. I was feeling really tired like I needed a nap midday and then super exhausted when I got home from work but not today. Today I felt great. You feel better every day. I’m just so excited to start seeing results. I have lost 11 lbs since surgery. -

Some ground beef with a sprinkle of cheese, greek yogurt, and taco sauce. I can't seem to figure out how much makes my pouch happy. If I eat more than a tablespoon at a time, I feel so stuffed forever. Surely this isn't all I should be able to eat. -

The only way I get mine in is if I do 2 protein shakes a day with 20g+ of protein each. I always have a greek yogurt which is another 12 to 16 depending on the brand and then my other 2 meals are usually refried beans and salsa or canned chili with beans/turkey, sometimes beef. I also sometimes will have an egg with a sprinkle of cheese on it for a meal. I hope this helps some....but I have to still do the shakes to get it all in since my meals are so small. -

Thanks Nicole. Doc said to keep protein between 40-60 because I am so short and don't have so much to lose as others. I'm doing that and fluids are good too. I don't do startches very often and then mashed potatoes to help chicken go down. He said to move away from protein drinks and yogurt and more to solid protein like chicken, egg, etc. I question getting all protein if i do but we'll see. Haven't been watching sodium. I have eaten salad and veggies with no issues and am hungry a lot so not losing and fighting hunger aren't helping. I asked the dr if he was sure he did bypass! -

Thursday!! Today is Sunday. OMG! It has been a long, hard road with many hoops to jump through, and now, "suddenly", it's here! I am nearly there. I am nearly sleeved. I'm nearly having a difficult time with pain from a drain, and not able to drink a bottle of Water at one sitting. I'm nearly barely able to eat a tablespoon of greek yogurt at a sitting. My life is nearly changed for the better. One day soon I will be searching my closets for smaller clothes which I saved back from when I was smaller. I'm so excited to begin this journey to health and happiness, I am nearly able to polish my own toenails, to lace up my shoes. Nearly able to run up a flight of stairs and not be winded and keep up with my grand kids. It's Sunday...I'm nearly there!

I can't get my protein down and I'm 3 days post op.
JamieLogical replied to aprilsleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Are you allowed drinkable yogurt in this phase? That might help you get a little more Protein in. And definitely try different types of Protein shakes and powders. If you have a GNC or Vitamin Shoppe in your area, you should be able to buy individual packets to try out. -
Tried cottage cheese for the first time - help me jazz it up
trekker954 posted a topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I don't like it, but I like it better than greek yogurt (BTW, I like Dannon regular or lite yogurt). Both are basically pretty gross to me. Phase 3. No veggies or fruit yet. What can I do with this cottage cheese since I seem to tolerate it. Anything to make it more bearable? -
I am being open, that's why I'm asking for help. I'm too tired to go for a walk. Not making excuses because last week I was walking a half mile. I just talked to the nutritionist and apparently I need 3 shakes a day! I was drinking 1 in addition to my meals. I eat Greek yogurt, quinoa, meats, eggs, cottage cheese, Beans, sugar free oatmeal, etc. I have been trying! She did say a few sugar free hard candies would be okay and to put away the baked chips. I need to get out the XBOX games! ???? I am a stress eater, a boredom eater, and this is very difficult! I find I don't miss sweets as much as I thought I would, just can't wait till the Protein bars to take their place. I want to sew more, but SO TIRED. I have things I need to do as well.... Hopefully I will get there. Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App

asking the december and january post-op groups: have any of you had trouble with bloody noses? i got one last night while getting sick and i've neever had one before. i'd opened a can of low fat hormel turkey chili, added a little greek yogurt and cheese to it, took about three bites and was immediately sick. i know i took the 1st two bites too quickly (i'd waited too long to eat and was hungry), i didn't chew it enough and paid for it. not much more than phlem, air and bubbles came up, but the runny nose started in instantly and so did the blood. it took a little longer to stop and i still have the runny nose. not sure if i'm fighting a cold or it's a sign of something else. i've had turkey since surgery, beef and cheese as well. the only thing different was the greek yogurt. i'm not really questioning the food, it's more the bloody and runny nose. -oh, it also started me on a stupid crying jag. felt like a big baby -

Hippie gal, Dr Roller is more strict than most. We are not to have anything other than protein shakes, water, and broth for the first two weeks. And milk or flavored waters. At two weeks they'll tell you to start with yogurt, cottage cheese, string cheese, and then if those sit well, progress to soft foods. I specifically called his nut during week 2 to ask about creamy soups and she said no. -

A days diet after VSG- Can anyone give examples?
livvsmum replied to SleevesUp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The answer to this question really depends on where you are in the post op cycle. I'll give you my typical day from the 2 years post op view, but you may be looking for something more immediate. Not sure.... Breakfast - Protein oatmeal most mornings from bariwise, and of course coffee. OR iced caramel latte (small) with skim milk and sugar free syrup (but not both the oatmeal and the latte....that would be way too many carbs) Nothing between breakfast and lunch Lunch - Usually a version of a salad with grilled chicken, maybe a hard boiled egg chopped up with it for extra protein,, and a fat free dressing. I always eat the chicken off first and then have just a little room for salad after that. Something else that I like, depending on whether our cafe at work is open or not, is a scoop of chicken salad, a tiny salad, and 2 saltine crackers to scoop the chicken salad up with. Afternoon - I usually have a snack of some sort - either a snack sized protein shake, a greek yogurt, a fat free cheese stick, peanuts, etc. dinner - Usually whatever I make for my family, just in smaller portion and I eat the protein part of the meal first. If they are having Pasta, I avoid that altogether (or pizza) and saute up some shrimp with lite soy sauce. That's a quick and easy go-to single serving meal for me. I throw in a few pieces of frozen broccoli and it's delicious. Evening Snack - I try to avoid this altogether, but sometimes my family is snacking and I just can't resist. I keep sugar free popsicles, protein pudding from bariwise, peanuts, fat-free cheese stick, or sugar free Jello on hand for these kinds of cravings.
