I am two weeks out and of course, nothing yet, but fingers crossed. I'm taking hair skin and nail vitamins (biotin) every day plus getting 65 g of protein each day and I'm also using biotin and collagen enhanced shampoo and conditioner. Here's hoping!!! My hair is pretty thick and curly so I am prayerful that even if I lose a little bit, it won't be terribly noticeable! Good luck ladies!

^^ What she said. P.S. I was cleared for everything at 4 weeks.

Since surgery I'm not an everyday pooper anymore. I go every other day now. I found this on another site and thought it might help you out... Constipation (con-stuh-PAY-shun) means that a person has three bowel movements or fewer in a week. The stool is hard and dry. Sometimes it is painful to pass. You may feel "draggy" and full. Some people think they should have a bowel movement every day. That is not really true. There is no "right" number of bowel movements. Each person's body finds its own normal number of bowel movements. It depends on the food you eat, how much you exercise, and other things. Try eatting High-Fiber Foods like: Apples Peaches Raspberries Tangerines Acorn squash Broccoli, raw Brussels sprouts Cabbage Carrots, raw Cauliflower, raw Spinach Zucchini Black-eyed peas Kidney beans Lima beans Whole-grain cereal, hot (oatmeal, Wheatena) Drink plenty of water and other liquids such as fruit and vegetable juices and clear soup. Liquid helps keep the stool soft and easy to pass, so it's important to drink enough fluids. Try not to drink liquids with caffeine or alcohol in them. Caffeine and alcohol tend to dry out your system. Get enough exercise. Doctors are not sure why, but regular exercise helps your system stay active and healthy. You don't need to become a great athlete. A 20- to 30-minute walk every day should do the trick.

In Need Of A Little Support...
bamagirl2012 replied to sarahgee23's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I thought during the 2 week pre op it was the longest 2 weeks of my life. Lol. The weekends were the worst. But you will survive and you will be so proud of yourself. After I had my surgery my dr had given me a binder with each week what to eat and not eat. Every week when I would get to the next week and was like I am kicking this. I am now a little over 2 months out I've lost 45 pounds and am eating normal. I thought in the beginning i would not make it this far some days. Good luck! -
Taking Tylenol in pill form

Three weeks out I was allowed to transition back to pills, not chewies or crushed. -
Hi, I’m 6 weeks post op with the sleeve. My last visit was at 2 weeks post op and I remember back then he still told me to take my medicine crushed/open capsule and drink pellets. I forgot to ask him when I can start taking regular pills again. I have a MAJOR headache and really don’t wanna take children’s Tylenol it’s so sweet and makes me even more nauseous. When did everyone start taking pills Tylenol tablets specifically post surgery? And please give me the doctors recommendation. Like when was it okay by the doctor. Doctors office is closed right now and I can’t call. Thanks in advance.

Taking Tylenol in pill form

If you are getting a lot of headaches make sure you’re drinking enough fluids, double check that you’re getting enough . Being dehydrated can cause headaches. I had surgery one week ago and was having headaches which I never ever have anymore, probably due to the fact that I wasn’t drinking large amounts as I normally did pre-surgery. -
Depends on how good you're feeling. I waited a week.

Hi All, Wow! Can you believe 3 years have flown by. How is everyone doing? How has life with the band been now that we are into year three? I have been maintaining now for the past year. I would still like to get off the last 5 pounds but my body seems to like it at 140. I am so grateful for my band and having made this decision. I am now healthier than I have ever been in my life. I run, bike and go to bootcamp and it feels great to see/feel my body getting stronger. Living with the band has it's ups and downs ie: fills, too tight, or not enough, dealing with the emotional process around food and body image but i guess thats all part of the journey. Would love to hear others thoughts on life with the band. Barb

I've started to gain weight and getting my cravings back after 9wks!
Chaser replied to changingme's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You're doing well. We all fluctuate up and down. Heck, month-long stalls are normal too. Maybe it's related to that time of the month? Or some junkfood? I'm 9 months out and still loves me those potato chips. Try not to get down because of the numbers on the scale. They don't define you. You've already succeeded by taking the courageous step to have bypass surgery and change your life for the better. -

My insurance doesn't cover therapy. My regular Dr. put me on Imeprimine (sp?) and banned me from counting carbs or weighing for a week hehe. So today I'm going to do nothing weight wise. For 7 days I'm going to eat when I'm hungry... I'm going to enjoy a baked potato with cheese and sour cream.. I may even have a few M&Ms!

I am 3 weeks post op and I have lost 12 kilos so far, but I am hungry. I am eating less than before, but my weight loss has stopped and I am worried I have lost focus:sad: I have had a hard couple of weeks. My son was in hospital for 2 weeks and I stayed with him. he seems on the mend, but its been so hard seeing him so sick. I was only 7 days post op when he got sick, so in some way all my plans went out the window. I have an appointment on Feb 26th for my first fill, does that help? Help

Hi Cherry The same thing with the weightloss happened to me, I lost 9kg's in the first 3 weeks, then nothing else until I had my first fill. I then lost another 4kg's between my 1st and 2nd fill (nearly an 8 week gap) - I found it extremely frustrating and disappointing. Willpower can be a b***h. On Thursday last week I went for my 2nd fill and have lost another 1.5 kg's in 5 days - so things are beginning to turn around for me - I now have a small amount of restriction, where as before I had none. Hang in there through bandsters hell, things will start happening for you soon. Take care and big hugs to your little boy. Amy

Two weeks post op and gaining?
MowryRocks replied to barrel racer again's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In the beginning, I lost like 18lbs and then I gained 5 and hit the 3 week stall. It all came off. Head down, nose to the grind stone, it will all be ok. -
Two weeks post op and gaining?
kzoojason76 replied to barrel racer again's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Give your self a break, and put away the scale. Your body is still healing so it is going to be out of wack for a while. You'll gain, you'll lose, you'll stall. Embrace the stall!! It will break. You'll drive yourself insane if you weigh every day. Put it away, and let yourself heal. Then after that, start to weigh yourself again. -
One month post-op today!
dsferfeargregrhgttrhht posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 1 month out today and I'm feeling great. I do feel some restriction and will go for my first fill in 2 weeks. I'm down 25 lbs so far! I've already put together 2 big bags of clothes to donate because they no longer fit. More importantly, I'm down to half of the Metformin I was on pre-op and my morning fasting number is down by ~40 points! I'm looking forward to seeing where this journey takes me. I may not post a lot here, but I read your posts all the time. Thank you for the indirect encouragement and advice!! -
I have been banded for 6 weeks and I do have random pain around my port area. I attribute it to the healing process. I am going for my first fill on Saturday and am going to talk with my doctor.....sorry no advice...

Considering lap band, but I have concerns~
AllieKat35 replied to Shauna80's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello! I just wanted to share that since my last post, I am officially BANDED and have already lost 19.6lbs since starting Medifast one week prior to surgery! I have been doing wonderfully! When I started Medifast on March 2nd, I weighed 229.8lbs. On surgery day, I weighed 218.0lbs. Today, 5 days post-op, I weigh 210.4lbs.! Woo Hoo for the band! I have gone from a BMI of 37.1 on March 2, 2009 to a BMI of 34 on March 14th! Crazy....and wonderful... Nothing is going to hold me back now...not the PCOS...not anything. Tonight was my first time "eating out". I did really well...only eating small bits of the soft foods. But I will tell you, I definitely felt the band doing its' job. When my stomach was full - IT WAS FULL! There are no two ways about it. I COULD NOT take another bite. It seemed crazy, since I had only eaten only a little over 1/2 cup of food!!! Finally, I feel as though my hard work, discipline and perserverance will not be for nothing. Anyway...My prayers to all, that you will be able to find the tools that you are looking for. I am so, so blessed to have been able to be banded... -
Hi there! I had my surgery on August 15th and so far I have had a complication free, speedy and very lucky recovery. I have lost 47 pounds including a one week pre-op which I am pretty excited for! Well I have an interesting story (I'll make it short, I promise) that I want to share with you. [below talks about lots of junk food - don't read if you are sensitive to that kinda thing, heh] Before getting the gastric sleeve I was an emotional eater. I binged multiple times a week and the only person who knows is my mom and a good friend of mine. Food was my best friend. I used to eat huge quantities, well over 10,000 calories at a time and end my day with a big thing of ice-cream. I still get disgusted thinking about eating everything that I did. And I did this multiple times a week for years. Anyway~ Besides deep fried cheesy foods, sweets was my number one go-to food. You know those, "Oops, we baked too much!" 50% off carts they have at super markets? Yeah, I attacked that. Sometimes getting two dozen donuts, 24 count Cookies, etc that would sit in my stomach after a day and a half (not including all the chips, Pasta, cheese sticks, hot pockets, etc I would eat prior) I was a wreck. [end junk food] Anyway, now that I had the sleeve I have had no cravings other than fresh fruit. I am allowed SF/FF pudding (I got dark chocolate, my favorite) and I took one bite and it was far too rich! It went down smoothly and I had no problems but it was just disgusting. Pre-surgery the richer the better! But no, I just can't tolerate it now. I tried again a week later (the other day) and took one small spoon. Nope, not happening. I just don't want it and I gave it to my mother and said she can eat them. ISN'T IT CRAZY HOW MUCH YOU CAN CHANGE AFTER SURGERY? This super-super-sweet girl doesn't like sweets! I get great satisfaction by adding a strawberry to my crystal lite lemonade or eating two small blackberries but nothing more. I think this is a big fat NSV!!!!!!!! Does anyone have a story similar to mine?
-
I think a lot of us have some similarities. I didn't purge, but I was a huge fried food, fast food, sweets girl myself. After surgery (I'm 13 weeks out) food just doesn't have the same appeal. It's hard to explain how, but my hunger feels different too. I have all I can do to get my 2-3 oz of Protein in each meal, never mind the extra veggies or carbs I should be trying to add. Best of luck to you!
