Confused and bummed about apnea
Froggie D replied to Froggie D's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The machine they gave me is a self adjusting machine that records what you need to prevent the apnea episode each night. You wear it for 2-3 weeks. I slept really good with it. They picked it up Thursdayand said my average was almost 13. I was at a 10 before. I did not have a full sleep study. I will insist on one when I lose all my weight. I was able to do this through my PCP. About a month or so ago I started having multiple times at night where air would come into my mouth from the pressure in my nose. I would wake up doing little puffs to expell the air from my mouth. I was waking up a lot and started having headaches, yawning, feeling generally lousy. Getting up in the morning was becoming harder and harder. My mask with the little pillows in my nose does not seem to work any more with this machine, although I used the same mask with their machine and had no trouble. I also had sore throat and very dried out mouth upon awakening, so I must have been breathing with my mouth open. For the weeks on the machine, I slept good and felt good. I also lost excellent weight. Since they took it away, I am sleeping horrible again and feeling worse each day. I also have not lost weight since they took it back. Also feel mildly depressed. I am waiting for them to come out and adjust my machine so I can sleep again. I just can't figure it out as my husband says I am not snoring much at all. -

My surgery is scheduled for the 4th also. I actually started my pre-op diet last Sunday in preparation for my appointment with the surgeon. Figured it couldn't hurt being ahead of the game. I had a headache for the first 2 days, and absolutely NO energy. But then it got better, until yesterday. I thought I would chew my arm off before dinner last night. But I made it and when I stepped on the scale this morning I was 10 pounds lighter than on Sunday. I can't believe it. It get's better. I promise.

Here's a question that I've never seen posted on here...how do you STOP losing weight
Jachut replied to Losing_It_In_Texas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are a few threads on this. Some people have a slight unfill, however I found my weight loss just petered out and eventually stopped and I began to maintain instead. I didnt change my food intake or exercise habits, its just kind of evened out. Thankfully that happened at a reasonable weight and not at 20lb overweight still! I went way past my original goal of 79kg (about 180lb) but that didnt worry me, at 5ft 10, I was still pretty fat at that weight and knew I didnt want to stop there. I always wanted to be about 150lb and its pure coincidence that that's where I stopped. -
Frustrated: Light-headed and constant stalls - what could be wrong?
TvlGrl712 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im 10 weeks out - only lost 29 lbs total (yes, I know thats alot more than I would without the surgery, but its still not alot considering I had surgery). I feel lightheaded many times throughout the day, everyday. Water is still hard for me - I get about 55 oz of my 64 required oz a day I get about 70g of protrein on average Calories are around 800 - food goes down easily, but I stick to 5 - 4oz meals a day I take a 30 min walk about every other day or so So yes, more water, more Protein, more exercise, but could that small of a deficit be causing my constant stalls and lightheadedness? Has anyone else had these issues? Help and advice please, no ridiculing - Im having a hard enough time keeping my head up right now. Thanks! -
What is Bandster hell? Ive been banded before but am getting a replacement. I had the 4cc band and now I'm going to the 10 cc. I always needed fills....is it possible to feel restriction with no fill??

Question about energy
pattimomof3nj replied to mp8btpc's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I like you, never worked out, besides chasing kids and running errands. Then in February my work offered a Zumba class. That was it, i was hooked. I started 1 day a week, then in March they added another day. I joined a gym to get more classes, I am now up to 4 times a week. I burn the average of 600 calories per session, but the best part is I LOVE IT! It is not like you are working out, you are dancing around and having fun. I think the key to sticking to anything is doing something you LOVE and that you have fun. Before Zumba, I hadn't worked out since I was a cheerleader in HS (20 years ago). At first it was HARD, having twins 3 years ago, the bladder left a lot to be desired, but now 4 months later, no problem. My dr said I am building muscle and the bladder is is fixing itself! If you can, find a class in your area that you can do a drop in, they are usually $10, try it! Go slow at your pace, and feel the fun! Ok off my Zumba soapbox! Patti -

First fast food since surgery
LilaNicole20 replied to liveaboard15's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm obsessed with the egg white and roasted red pepper bites from Starbucks as my fast food fix. My husband is in love with the Spinach and Feta wrap they have there. I really wish other fast food places would get on board with making a meal with eggs as the protein vs. chicken or beef. Last night, I went to a Mexican joint with my husband and I am happy to report that the scale still went down this morning. I only ate a total of about 10 chips, some guac, salsa, and 3 nachos (marinated chicken with cheese on top of 3 tortilla chips). I was satisfied and not overstuffed. I'm really enjoying this process! And as busy people, fast food is sometimes inevitable - it's nice that there ARE options! -
I don't weigh myself at all. I wait until I go to my visits to see my doctor. I can't say I don't worry about if I am loosing weight but the scale scars me. I had my surgery 12/10/12.

FedUpwithBeingFat replied to Sha0717's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@Embrace Hi! Thank you so much for checking in on me. Your note before my surgery gave me great peace and comfort. I have told NO ONE but my husband, so having you and others checking on me in INVALUABLE! I have had a tough 1st week of recovery, but am beginning to feel better. My 1 week check up is tomorrow. Because I was converting a "plication" to a sleeve, my procedure lasted 5.5 hours. I think this may be the reason the Anesthesia was particularly difficult to rid from my system. Not sure if this is the cause of my blurry vision for the last 6 days, but reading online, I have found that this can be a result of anesthesia and will improve in 9-10 days. (I have been unable to read the newspaper, emails, or any of the 3 new books I bought to enjoy during my recovery phase.) Additionally, I have had severe headaches that I cannot treat with my regular migraine meds, due to the complicated revision-----my doc's fear that the strong meds (even crushed) would cause damage to my new sleeve. ENOUGH COMPLAINING THOUGH!!! I'm grateful for my supportive husband who paid the 17,500. fee to have this done and my steady improvement. I actually feel myself getting stronger each day. Remembering what you said about walking the anesthesia off, I made sure to walk a little each day but honestly I only made it to my mailbox and back, walked from one end of my house to the other.....etc. (I was quite wimpy this week) I tried to balance what you said about walking and resting my body. I have a goal of walking 30 minutes (all at one time) by Saturday of this week. I hope I am able. Your 3rd piece of invaluable advice was very helpful and something I HAD NOT considered. As soon as I can get out, I'm going to purchase tiny bowls and small plates. Thank you so much for this tip!! Something I had not expected was the weight gain in the hospital from fluids. ( I probably should have done better research and made myself aware of this bc it SHOCKED me!) I gained 11 lbs and after 6 days that was finally gone. I hope I begin steady "losing" from this point on. I practiced "going out to dinner" last night with my husband. This is a little scary at first! We went to a Tai restaurant where I was able to order a bowl of simple broth. It was divine. (After eating broth from a box all week.) Since today is 1 week out, I'm going to weigh, take measurements, etc. I'm hoping I'm on the right path and will continue to improve. Enough about me! Are you doing o.k.? Still losing? Adding new foods to your diet? Feeling good? I think your surgery was this summer so we are just a few months apart. Your wisdom and compassion came through so clearly in your message to me and I want you to know how very much I appreciate the time it took to send it. Please continue to send your valuable tips and please let me know how you are progressing. -

I'm 57, once I thought I was too old for this wls. But then I had a women in the first meeting ( welcome to wls) who was 60. So I know if she is going for it then so can I! Anyone having problems telling their adult kids? I have a controlling daughter who I believe will b against me getting this done. My son is easy going and say what ever makes you happy mom. My fiancé of 10 years said it was to drastic. He is the only one that knows, my family doesn't understand since I'm the smallest of 5 girls and 2 brothers one who is overweight. I have been taking my fiancé with me to meetings, dr visits, all that I can get him in. So he is getting info first hand, were both retired so he can do this with me. I just wish my ins didn't have a 6 mth PCP for weight loss. I also have had 1/2 of the list of requirements done and the rest scheduled for Aug. sure hope time flies! -
I really want to cheat!
VSGAnn2014 replied to Luann919's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, you sure picked the wrong time to think you can eat a biscuit. You could've tried that 10 days ago with little damage, but it ain't smart to try it two days before the doctor starts to cut on you. You can do this. You just have to DO this. -
My insurance required 6 months of weigh ins, nutrition evaluation, psychologist eval and blood test for stomach bacteria. I recommend you continually stay in touch with both dr office and insurance. I found out after doing all the requirements and dr submitting surgery date that my insurance required I enroll in the Bariatric Resource Services program they had! I had no idea about this requirement. It delayed my surgery almost 4 weeks. . I am happy to say I had my sleeve surgery on 10/20 and doing fine so far. Stay on top of your insurance company!! Best of luck!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

there are a lot of veteran bandsters on here.. your decision to have a lapband is one of the best you will ever make. I had diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure. my knees and feet hurt every day. I could hardly make it around the grocery store. Forget going to a mall. today after lapband I have no diabetes, no cholesterol, no high blood pressure and I can walk rings around anyone in the stores. I lost 60 lbs and I have about 10 more to go. at 5'0 200 lbs I was obese. There are many here who have lost 100 lbs or more. Best of Luck to you and keep us posted on your progress.

Stomach binder
Sassy Little Redhead replied to Quest4TheNewMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't wear one immediately post op but I'm a RN and went back to work 10 days post op. It saved me while working! I only wore it at work for about 2 weeks after going back. -
Me me. Walking and waiting it out. Not much helps. It's like after 2 baby bites my throat closes. Thick liquids are better for me than thin or solids. Since week 5 I'm on week 10 now Sent from my 5054N using the BariatricPal App
