    Anyone for August 2020

I am doing a revision from the sleeve to the bypass. Sort of nervous but everyone tells me I'll be just fine. Best of luck on yours. And whatever you do....stay away from sugary and starchy foods. That was my wrongdoing. Sent from my SM-N975U using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. I'm getting worried. I started at 229lbs. My gastric bypass was 2 years ago June 21st. I lost weight pretty fast and am still losing. I am now at 103 lbs. I did not want to lose this much at all. I eat all the time trying to gain now. I am in a size 3 jeans and wearing a small shirt. I have no boobs at all. None! When I eat I feel so tired. I have had blood work done and its all good. About 3 months ago I had a celtic ulcer and had to have some emergency surgery but other than that I have been fine, just continuing to lose. I keep hoping it will taper off and I will eventually gain some back. I look bad. Does anyone have any advice on how to gain? I know that's a terrible question when we all go through so much to lose but I'm going to look like a skeleton before long. Thanks so much!
  3. if you don't have dumping now, you won't dump with the DS. The DS has a sleeved stomach and a bypassed small intestine. Since you already have a sleeved stomach, they don't have to do that piece of it - they'd just do the intestinal part. They're not going to have to do anything to your stomach since the VSG is phase 1 of the DS.

    Sleeve revision (re-sleeving)

You're right the DS is extreme but the happy medium is the RNY bypass it's better than sleeve but not as extreme as DS
  5. Hey everyone!! I am new here and am SO glad I found you all. I had my sleeve done in Mexico (I know... ) back in 2011. I have no complaints, except there was no after surgery care. So, long story short... i have gained almost all my weight back and would really like to hear from some of you about re-sleeving or another surgery that would help me. I am looking to lose, atleast, 80lbs. I don't think I want the DS, simply for the malabsorbtion and dumping issues it comes with, however, I would still like to hear from someone having gone thru each of the surgeries. Thanks in advance!

  8. Hi! I am 10 days post gastric bypass surgery, but I am really scared because I am able to eat a lot of yogurt and I’m scared I stretched my pouch! Is this possible or am I spiraling?

    Wellbutrin

I was on Wellbutrin XL prior to surgery and no change after surgery. I was not required to crush any of my pills after surgery. I had VSG. This may be different if Bypass done. Sent from my SM-T580 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Weight gain.....

So true !! I also put on weight. From Feb to May 1st I gained 15 or 16 lbs. Then on May 1st I decided it was enough and went back to eating the way we are taught. About 2 weeks later I got the call that my revision to bypass was scheduled. In 3 weeks I lost 6 lbs and have taken the rest off since the bypass. It is much better to get on the horse with a 10 to 20 lb gain then that 50 lbs like you said.
  11. I really need some help and advice on what I can do. I have lumbar stenosis and have to get injections to be able to walk like normal people, otherwise I get stuck and cant move my left leg and have awful pain trying to do so. I also have bad neck that gives me horrible headaches which go on day and night sometimes and need injections for those. I truly cant handle all of this pain. I am so overwhelmed at the moment. I was told today by the bariatric team that if I must have them to space them out and stay on my Dexilant ( I dont know if I will ever be able to get off of it) Now I am scared. She didnt tell me what can happen by doing these injections. Any advice would be greatly appreciated . FYI I was revised to Bypass 2 months ago and had been able to have the injections with the sleeve with no issues.

    Gastric Band Revision To Sleeve

guess i'm just one of the lucky people that didn't have acid reflux with the band. Banded in 2009, removal 2017 due to a slip from a stomach virus. Sleeve 11 months ago tomorrow. Sleeve was the easiest sx i ever had. SW w/sleeve 173lbs. today 121 You guys have to know that there are other WLS: Gastric Sleeve Surgery Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy – VSG Gastric Bypass – Roux-en-Y Mini Gastric Bypass Duodenal Switch – DS Gastric Plication – Gastric Sleeve Plication and others..... I was wanting the MGB, but my SX didn't do them and didn't want to go to Mex to have it done. I paid 14k out of pocket for the sleeve.
  13. Hi! In one week, I am undergoing a revision from VSG to RNY due to reflux and esophagitis. I had my VSG in 2017 and lost 100 pounds in nine months. Then, whoops, I got pregnant. After years of being told my ovaries didn't function, I hadn't worried enough about protection after surgery 😂 however, right before finding out I was expecting, I'd gone through lots of testing because of persistent reflux, including a test where you keep a probe in your throat and stomach for several days to measure your acid levels. Mine were high enough that my surgeon immediately started planning for a revision. Then life got in the way and brought me a beautiful baby girl, and before I knew it, she was over a year old and I was still constantly fighting reflux despite lots of meds. I finally went back and saw my surgeon again and was scheduled asap! It is very surreal to be back on the liver shrink diet and doing everything I did several years ago. I am also nervous; I purposely chose the VSG hoping to avoid long term vitamin or nutrition issues from malabsorption. I know so many choose RNY and love it, but it was definitely not my first choice....but here I am! I'd like to stay on track after surgery and the forum I used to belong to has very little activity now. I'm enjoying getting to read up on what's happening here!

August 3rd, revision from VSG to RNY due to reflux and esophagitis. Feels so weird going through all my pre-op steps again!
  15. you are not going to die. Gastric bypass has a 0.3% mortality rate, VSG is even less. So that means you have a 99.7% chance or better that you're going to get through it just fine. And you will. Those odds are excellent. My surgeon has been doing these surgeries for 30+ years and has never lost a patient. They'll put you through all sorts of medical clearances (if they haven't already) to make sure you're healthy enough for surgery. YOU WILL BE FINE! on the continuum of surgeries, VSG and RNY are among the safest surgeries there are. They're much safer than hip replacement surgeries, for example, and you know they do hip replacements every day, so... for that matter, people have died during tonsillectomies or wisdom tooth extractions. How often does that happen? Almost never. Same with weight loss surgeries. It's not going to happen. as for horror stories, quit reading them. Now. Major complications are very rare. Almost all of us have had either no complications at all, or very minor ones that are easy fixable (like a stricture). You will be fine. I know it's hard not to be afraid, but these are very safe surgeries with very little chance of major complications.

YoouniqueNY I only have a liquid diet for the day before. I was sleeved 3 years ago and they will fix my hernia and do a gastric bypass on 8/3. I drink a protein shake everyday so as soon as I can I will continue that it’s delicious and filling
  17. I wasn't scared of the surgery or being put under but mostly because I'd had brain surgery in 2017 so this was like a walk in the park by comparison... Your mind makes things out to be worse than they actually are. I think it's just human nature to stress about the worst possible outcome. Your chances of not making it through the surgery are 1 in 1000. Chances of major complications are like 4%. It's slim. Just trust that you're in good hands and try not to stress yourself out more by reading about the worst things that can happen or you'll just stress yourself out more! In my own experience when I went into the operating room I was talking to the anesthesiologist after they got me situated and he asked me a few questions and the next thing I know I'm being wheeled into a room. I'm going to be honest... when I woke up I felt like I got hit by a bus! But they gave me pain meds when I mentioned that and then I was good. My worst experience about my surgery is that I vomited old blood for the first two days... and it HURT! It scared my mom, but the nurse said that sometimes that happens and it's normal. I had those blue puke bags on hand just in case lol. But I had the Loop DS and that's different then Gastric Bypass so you likely won't have that issue. Just try and stay away from reading about the worst possible outcomes and just think positive. Think about how much better you'll feel as you hit each milestone! I wish you the best in your upcoming surgery!

    Gas or heartburn?

I don't think it's reflux, reflux doesn't happen when you're eating. Pressure means that you are getting full or are full, and burping means you are swallowing air with your food. Can you slow down? Put down the fork and chew until your food is mush and well-mixed with saliva? Then wait a minute or two until your next bite. My bypass was 6/29 and I'm still learning about what works and doesn't.
  19. Hello! I had gastric bypass on 7/6 and just started my purée phase on 7/22. Things seem to be going pretty well however when I’m eating purée chicken or tuna I get pressure in my chest and upper back and find myself burping a lot. Could this mean I’m eating too fast or taking big bites or is this something like acid reflux?
  20. I am not even getting 24-30 oz in. Plain water, which I used to drink a gallon of a day, feels like it burns my pouch, so I have started doing electrolyte fluids to stay hydrated. I get 2-3 small sips in and fee like it is all going to come up, but it doesn’t. Then it is another 45 min before I can get anymore sips in. As for food/protein, it is a total struggle. I did ok my first week, then as I started drinking protein shakes again, I found my pouch cannot tolerate it. So, I took your suggestion of the Gene-Pro tasteless protein powder and am going to start trying to make my own shakes with a non-dairy milk. I noticed people talking about a ticker on here. I have never posted on forums before, so how do I get my updated info into the profile? Hi everyone! I am grannyliz, a young granny of 8. My gastric bypass was on May 7th and boy has it been a life changer, Mentally and physically. So far I have lost roughly 60 lbs. I didn't think I really needed a support group until now. I have been struggling with trying to get fluids in me and literally no appetite whatsoever. Like, I literally am NEVER hungry. Just getting 2-3 oz of greek yogurt in me is a struggle. I have been reading through the posts on here and have taken several of the suggestions to heart, so a very big thank you to those who have been posting suggestions. I pray those that are recovering from their surgery are doing well.

    Cialis/viagra after sleeve

People in UK are lucky because they can get pills like that easily. In USA it is a little bit harder and that is annoying. I managed to bypass this by buying high quality kamagra for ED online. When you buy it online you don't need prescription and you can get it for better price. It is really good for ED and sexual drive and whenever I use it I have no problems with anything. A lot of people have problems with ED and it is not something to be ashamed of, good thing is that there is a solution.
  23. Why did you have a revision done? Just curious I wonder sometimes if I need to have one done. 17 years out. Sent from my LG-G710 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Vsg/bypass in Ohio anyone ? 7/28

I’ve lost about 45lbs in 7 months but overall since being with my surgeon I’ve lost a little over 100lbs. I haven’t had the revision yet but I’m hoping soon because the GERD from the hernia is no joke. Try not to be scared. It’s an amazing tool and gateway to a healthier life. Also, I asked for medicine cups to get in my water while in the hospital which helped. Having water at different temperatures also helped find one I tolerated best. And walking does help with any pain you might have. Wear a binder if they offer you one.
