    July/Aug 2010 Banders!?

Well when I hit a stand still its for a few weeks and I start picking up my workout routine, than I have to turn back to the band rules...protein first, chew, chew chew, eat small bites and drink LOTS of water...once I do that for a week or so the scale normally moves again...my weight loss stands still for a few weeks than I may lose 2-3lbs and start the whole cycle again...its really starting to slow down now though ...so I have to work harder and it feels like as time goes on I sway away from the band rules more and more so I have to re focus....your doing a great job....glad you have such a great practice..Im debating on if I should get another fill or not, I have an appt next week. part of me thinks I could use just a little more but than Im scared of being too tight and miserable! its harder than I thought to find just that right spot..I have a feeling I may have to get overfilled in order to really know where I need to be! Good luck!

    Green zone ?

How long are you staying satisfied. You should be able to stay satisfied for 3 to 4 hours. It's not going to help head hunger, that's psychological and you'll have to deal with that separately. As for the feeling in your chest, could be too big a bite, not chewing well or eating too fast and not allowing your pouch to empty properly before putting more in.
  4. I had my first fill on 11/09 and I have 4cc in my 10cc band. I'm not hungry until around 12:30 but when I do eat I can have a more than a cup, but still small portions, probably 2 cups. I'm eating slow and if I do eat too fast I feel like I'm going to get stuck ( pain in chest almost like heartburn) so I stop. Is this my "green zone"? Or am I supposed to be eating less than a cup in my green zone. Just trying to make sure I'm doing this right. I've last 3 more lbs since 11/09, yay!
  5. Hello fellow gastric sleeve people, My name is Annika I just had my slleve sugery 11/3/2014. My incision pain is unbearable still after pain meds, Does anyone remember how long this lasts, and what you did to ease the pain...HOT PACKS, LAYING A CERTAIN WAY... ECT. My doc said a couple days but that's not the case. and they are not infected, they are actually healing good... just lots of bruises.

    Is Something Wrong WIth me?

It definitely could be the fat content or eating too fast. During this time you're still healing so you have to remember to take it easy, eat slow. I would get sick as well. Eat jell-o, broths, clear stuff for now and then revisit the creamy stuff like yogurt and cream soups. Eat sugar free Popsicles those will help with dehydration. Some days it was all I could keep down. If it doesn't get better by next week, I would contact your doctor.
  8. Im 2 weeks post op and I'm feeling this sharp pain on my left side right underneath my biggest scar. Every time I sneeze or cough it hurts more and more. There's certain positions in which it doesn't hurt, and there's some in which hurts more. Does anyone relate? Or is it just me and I should go to the doctor. Please help!

    Pain ????

I am 3 weeks our and still have pain on right side where biggest incision is. When I got out of recovery the area was sunken in. Surgeon said it was from the internal sitches and from scarring from gall bladder surgery I had in February. The pain is not as intense now but still hurts when getting up and twisting. Also can't walk very far without pain.

    Monday 2-6-06

Bad day all around following hectic weekend. Very tired this am. Did not take concerta...Also note to self. Been thinking about TT and when to have it. Did I self sabotage myself today. Had 2 icecream cones, little debbie oatmeal pie....4 little tiny cookies, swig of choc milk...just like old days. Haven't done this in months. I have to wonder why. I have been plateaued for a week or two. HMMMMMMM Terrible Golf ball pain after swigging spaghetti with butter left over in daughters plate. PB'd three or four times. UGH Start over tomorrow. :think :nanahump:
  12. I have lost 60+lbs 3 times..... my problem is keeping it off.

    The waiting game

I think it depends on your insurance. After I had my consult with my surgeon, I then met with their financial person and she told me that my insurance requires 6 months of nutrition visits. I did that, they submitted the paperwork and I was scheduled for surgery 2 weeks after the approval came in.
  14. I actually stall out when I am off my birth control for whatever reason. Most people I've met actually have better results while on birth control. Then again, I and many of these women have PCOS just like @@SweetPotato so it may be different for you if you do not have any hormone issues.
  15. Maybe it's me but I find this pre-op just a little overwhelming and more involved then I thought. Keeping track of protein shakes - how many how often, grams of protein in everything plus adding the protein powder grams, then in my case bloodsugars 2-3 times a day and trying not to screw that up. My doc gave me sample menus for stage 3 and 4 . Why cant someone make a preop sample menu, I guess cause everyoones is so different. Feel like I need to keep a running journal of my day.
  16. Hun you are singing the same toon as i am. I wasn't always this way but it's been hell trying to get it off!. I've got a 2 year old and a 3 year old. I like you, gained 100lbs with first pregancy , and 20 with my second. 3 months after i had my daughter i was preggers again... My body wasn't able to "bounce back" like most peoples do. I'm still waiting on word from my doc atm. I dont think i'll hear from him til march. But who's your main insurance. Different people with different insruances have to go through different things. I myself have BCBSOK, -BlueChoice, i called ahead of my doctor and spoke with them before i even made my doctors appointment. They said i would be approved i just had to find a doctor in the area that was in the network with my insurance... i was like a yo yo through school due to being on ritlin during the school year and then being taken off of it during the summer. I would lose weight in the school year and then gain it when i was off . I was never "super skinny" but i had a lil meat in all the right places. Least that 's what i like to think but ever since i got married my ex husband used to say you are losing too much weight, i want more weight on u.... Secretly i think he was trying to trap me so that no one else would want me but that's a whole different story and now i'm getting sidetracked LOL. In other post below you will find great information about the procedures, doctors, hospitals and insurances. We're all here for you and good luck hun! *hugs*

    How Long?

I think I was up to about 3 oz at 4 months out . . . now I can eat 5-6 oz total at about 7 months out (depending on how dense my protein is). It still doesn't look like much food. When I go out to eat with people (like work clients that don't know about my surgery), I usually order a salad with grilled chicken on it. I can usually eat most of the chicken and some of the veggies, and I just push the rest of it around until we're done. It works pretty well!

    How Long?

I always loved subway, I'm 3 months out and still can't eat the bread. Hope that changes eventually!
  19. I didn't trust my doctors staff enough to fax over my sonogram results or letter if necessity..I gave them a week to write it and get the results...called them and had them make copies..I drove the papers down to my surgeon myself so I know they got it

    Getting Banded Dec 4th 2013!

I had mine on a Wednesday and went back to work on the following Monday. My surgery was 7 hours due to revision but I do have a desk job. Was just feeling tired and still feeling effects of anesthesia. Take as much time off as you can. A week is pretty good.

    Will it work?

I used to be able to yo yo diet successfully. but about 3 years ago I couldn't lose wt. no matter what diet or exercise I tried. I did nutria-system, ww,south beach diet, calorie counting, no carbs. etc. I wasn't losing wt. instead my wt. went up and up. I was close to 300 lbs and had a heart attack when I said enough is enough. I have a band. it's a lot of work but without it I would be well over 300 lbs by now. and as said above it's amazing how little food you need to survive on. no wonder none of the diets I mentioned above worked. before you have surgery you really need to ask yourself do I really want this and am I willing to put the work needed to be successful. this advice is for whatever surgery you decide is best for you. its a lifestyle change for life.
  22. Me to ! Mine is tomorrow and I'm more hungry than ever I been on a two week diet and I'm just ready to be off it !

    Tentative Date Set

Yes a two week liquid pre op diet. I thought of that also. It takes me through Christmas. I'm thinking if I'm really, really good, maybe I can have a little Christmas dinner.

    Tentative Date Set

I went last week to see the dietitian and the psychologist. They both seemed to think I had done my homework and was ready for surgery. When I dropped off my paperwork at my surgeons office, I asked if I could schedule in the 2 week period that the school district is off for Christmas. That way I wouldn't have to take any time off of work. She penciled me in for Dec. 27th! That works out perfect for me. I have the family over to my house for Christmas and I won't have to worry about recovering while planning for a big family holiday. I also plan on only telling 2 people at work, so this way I won't have to lie about why I need a couple of days off. I will just play it all off as another New Years Diet. Now I just pray the insurance approval comes through and they can write my name in ink for the 27th of December. Merry Christmas to me!
