    Cloud bread

Finally17, Thanks for making it. I've been looking at the recipe and wasn't sure if it would taste good. I think I'm going to try it. I'm on the Keto diet so any fat that's in it isn't a problem. I might cut back on the sweetener though. This is what I read about storing it: Store cloud bread refrigerated or freeze it for later use. Reheat refrigerated cloud breads in the oven.

    Solids sitting in my throat

Be careful adding foods. Make sure. No sugar. Coffee you can use stevia drops and sugar free creamer. Or keto creamer. Lots of Very soft. Scrambled eggs. If you can get a ver small food processor. You can make a small amount of chicken salad If you grind your foods it makes life much easier
  3. That is great! I've always struggled to keep my Vitamin D level above minimum. I did Keto before and olive oil and coconut oil were considered as "healthy fats". I also used to take one 1 tablespoon of MCT oil with my bullet-proof coffee (once daily). Maybe do some research on that.
  4. I am 5'2" and have a BMI of 32, an I am scheduled for surgery 11.17.17. I am insulin resistant, suffer from metabolic syndrome, PCOS, and pre-diabetic. I did not come to this decision lightly, but I have yo-yo'd for many years (Phen-Fen, HCG, Weight Watchers, Keto) you name it, I've tried it, and the weight always comes back. I personally think that this is going to be much less detrimental to my health in the long run than some of the past options I've tried, and not to mention the constant ups & downs. My husband does not think that I need it, but is 100% supportive of my decision. I am ready to take charge of my life.

    Coconut Milk

Coconut milk is relatively high in fat and is a staple in the keto diet. Not sure you want to drink it regularly during the initial weight loss phase when your ability to take in food is low...
  6. I have been on the Ketogenic Diet since April and have lost 25 lbs. My surgery is Tuesday July 17, once I am back to solid foods I am going back on the Keto diet. My surgeon recommended it to me.

    Bang Keto Coffee

depends on the person. I had RNY, and I could handle that... P.S. I just googled "Bang Keto" - it's just a brand name
  8. I saw on a YouTube video someone saying they included Bang Keto coffee in their post-surgery diet. I’m unfamiliar with this product. Does anyone else include it in their daily eating plan?

    Bang Keto Coffee

I was referring to OP and keto coffee in general. I had sleeve, but was still told not to do Keto. I do eat some high fat foods like cheese, and as a treat I'll have the sugar free peanut butter cups, which are essentially Keto, but I try to keep fat and sugar both low.

High Protein Alternatives - Cereal, Chips, etc.

Most of the "protein infused keto friendly" alternatives to that sort of thing taste awful and have a weird texture. No joke I would rather slowly nibble on one regular Dorito than eat an entire bag of those Quest chips.
  11. Good morning everyone. I am nearing 6 years post VSG I have never made it to goal. I have many regrets in life but my children are not one of them. My starting weight was 488.5 and I managed to make it down to 350lbs my first year. the second year post op I found out I was pregnant and gained 83lbs. I lost a little weight after pregnancy, but 10 months after having my first child I was pregnant again and gained 15 pounds. and 6 months later was pregnant again but lost that pregnancy. I was dealing with a rough time, 5 months after my miscarriage my second child was diagnose with type 1 diabetes and the weight has just been pouring on from there. I tried keto the past month and gained 10 lbs and now I am adding more activity in my day with a 30 day fitness challenge. I am on day 2 and feeling like wanting to give up. maybe I wasn't meant to be smaller?. I have never known a day where I weighed a normal weight for someone my height or age. ok enough with the pity party, I guess I am just curious to know if there are others like me who have a high BMI and have more than 150lbs to lose? Or a High BMI that has never made it goal and having some regain issues? Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Liquid diet

That's cool. I've also seen videos of people being sleeved via scope as well. To @RickM my RD put me on a 3 month liquid preop diet consisting of almost entirely Glucerna and water. Each bottle of that crap not only tastes like s**t making me regurgitate the stuff but has 26g of carbs. My RD wanted me on 6 of those a day - over 150g of carbs a day on a liver shrinking diet. It costs 8 dollars a six pack for this so over the span of 3 months that's 700 to 800 dollars in food for us, not counting food my wife and daughter need as well. This is why I researched (not Google as its full of the fad diet garbage sites) the keto diet and the fact that it's premise aligns directly with liver shrinking and thus weight loss. The liquid diet is, I suspect, more a general safety net measure by RDs to gauge "compliance" by the patient. It's very clear with my RDs comments in the Canadian NetCare system that she's been pissed with my lack of compliance despite all my positive results. Which is why the surgery is moving forward without her being happy.
  16. I love this post. I paid for the surgery myself and I'll do it again in a heartbeat. Money well spent. Some of the savings that comes to my mind are: - Buying clothes is much more fun now and maybe cheaper now. Finding clothes that fits without being too baggy was a real struggle. So I opted for having custom-made shirts and that cost a lot over here. Here is a photo of the custom-made shirt I wore when I was admitted to the hospital and the one I wore on my 1 year surgery anniversary I say maybe because I now can't resist buying new clothes every time we go to the mall - I'm saving a lot of the money that I used to spend on junk food, chocolate, cookies etc. I now focus on buying quality and nutritious ingredients to cook with. The cost of food after WLS is also much less than KETO diet (all that butter and olive oil haha) - I'm off of all the medications that I used to take before the WLS. Now I only have to take my multi-vitamin and supplements.

HELPPPP ME :( I cant stop itching

Oh wow - I've never heard of Keto Rash before so I looked it up - here is a quick YouTube to watch...totally makes sense! Thanks!
  18. If you have the money, the Optifast liquid diet is the easiest to follow. Everything you need, right there. But, it is expensive, so you might be better off doing 3-4 protein shakes a day, plus low sodium v8 or salad with fat free dressing. You can expect to lose 10-15lbs a month on the liquid diet. Alternatively, you can just do a ketogenic diet (moderate protein, high fat, low carb). It will have the same results. There are some websites that have lots of info and "how to's". Ultimately, for most of us, when we try to just tweak our normal diet, it just doesn't work very well. We have to throw it all away, and start with a clean slate. Going liquid or keto will do just that. Both diets have severely strict "rules".. so you follow the rules, and you'll have results. You'll do it this time, I know it!! Good luck!!
  19. Ok, I just got my date, Tuesday, June 5. I've been doing a lazy version of Keto as my pre-op diet until now and have not been tracking my food, but I certainly will starting doing so the day after surgery. I know that Bariastic and MyFitness Pal are two of the most popular apps for food and activity tracking. However, are there any apps that store your information on the web and also have websites that allow you to enter all of your information as well? I love my phone, but I spend most of my time on a computer and it would be much easier for me (and my eyes) to be able to enter everything through a website as well as a phone?

    Intermittent Fasting

They are in my fluids (tea or coffee) traditional keto styled fasting some people can have MCT oil in coffee and it won't break the fast for them, since I add so much water oz in the morning it does not appear to break it for me, but I limit the tea/coffee with protein to one serving then all the water happens, the other servings of tea/coffee with protein happens during my non fasting hours.
  21. am starting my pre op eating habits early (no surgery date yet - late sept or early oct) and am trying to do less than 50 total carbs a day (keto) but not strict (been 75 carbs - 2 days and under 50 - 5 days this past week) … and it has worked well this last week! down 6 lbs in one week!! I am now down to 389.8 (8/23/2022)from my high weight last year of 452. (426 in April 2022) woo hoo yay me

    How Do You “Eat Out?”

I pick restaurants that have items I can eat. I check menus online before going. I usually order some sort of seafood appetizer. If that isn't an option a salad with grilled meat. If that isn't an option and it is a nice dinner restaurant, steak is now an option. So many people keto, low carb, eat paleo that there are lots of options on most menus especially at newer trendier resturants. I also always keep a Quest bar with me for dates and if I drive I keep a premier Protein shake in my car so if I end up not eating much, I can get my protein later. Eating at restaurants is really easy if you have control over your eating. For people still struggling I think all the options will be too much temptation.
  23. I can't believe it. As of today, 7 months and 1 week since my surgery, I have officially lost 100 pounds!!!! I was 388 the day of my surgery. I cried this morning when I weighed myself. My next goal is to hit 270, which is what I weighed when I met my husband. After that, my last goal is to get to 200. Once I do that, I'll have to maintain it for a while and then SKIN SURGERY!!!!! There's no magic cure, no pill or food or drink that just magically makes the weight melt off. This is the result of the sleeve surgery, keto, working out 5-6 days per week (and alternating between cardio and weight training), and staying on track with what, and how much, I eat. No one thing works for me, it all has to be combined into a partnership for my mind and body. Surgery alone isn't enough. Keto alone won't work (at least it didn't for me). Working out by itself helps a little, but not enough. It ALL has to work together, and the key is to stay motivated and dedicated. Stalls suck, and they get frustrating. But as long as I keep my eyes on the prize, I'm actually gonna get there!!!! I never thought this was possible, but here I am
  24. I really don't, and that's because it's a very slippery slope for me. I have found so many alternative foods that taste good and don't leave me feeling deprived that it's not worth the inevitable guilt, the possible weight gain, and extra work it'll take to get me back to where I am now. I'm 2 years out from my original surgery and a year out (at the end of this month) from my revision surgery. I'm so use to how I eat that I can't imagine trying to eat any of the stuff I use to eat. There's keto bread, keto bagels, keto English muffins, keto brownies, keto blueberry muffins, Legendary pop tarts and cinnamon buns, mashed cauliflower (works beautifully in place of mashed potatoes), crustless pizza, pizza with cauliflower crust, riced cauliflower instead of regular rice, monk fruit sweetener instead of sugar, sugar free tropical popsicles, Real Good Foods keto protein chicken nuggets, Atkins 1 person meals, Real Good Foods 1 person meals, the list goes on and on. We get creative with what we cook (still have steak and chicken and stir-fry), chocolate milk has now become almond milk, 1 tbsp cacao powder, and 2-3 packets of monk fruit sweetener. Use a frother and it's AMAZING. There's chips you can get at Whole Foods that are made with soy flower or almond flower and tastes EXACTLY like regular chips (I love the BBQ and the sour cream cheddar ones). For ice cream, I get Rebel ice-cream. Low to no carbs, nearly no sugar at all, low calorie, lactose free. Tastes AMAZING. I just have no need for any cheat meals.
  25. You already said that emotional/stress eating seems to be the real culprit. Why not working from there? Sooner or later you will give in into the real yummy stuff instead of snacking on the lowcarb/lowfat/highprotein/keto/lowcalorie/whatever godawful substitutes that are available nowadays. What deems a healthy snack depends on the one who's recommending it. However, all the healthy snacks and food and back-to-basics in the world won't keep you from regaining in the long run if you can't stop the stress eating because "life will happen" again... and again... and again.
