    Sleeve to DS

I am 4 weeks out from revision to DS. For me things in that department got more normal at the 2ish week mark after starting mushy food/ purée.

Touchy subject.... stinky poo and gas :(

You're very welcome, these cost a little more but I finally found the link to them. You do take less and these are Whole Foods based and are utilized better Post gastric bypass. You reminded me I will need to order more myself. I'm waiting for Vitacost to send me a coupon 🤣 Sign up for emails and and account and out thins in your cart. Sometimes I get coupon for Thirty off a hundred or twenty off etc. my tablet numerical keypad isn't working at the moment weird. https://www.vitacost.com/garden-of-life-dr-formulated-enzymes-organic-digest-tropical-fruit some things I can't do without and one is digestive enzymes. I also eat yogurt every day for dinner. I mix in protein powder, a bit of powdered peanut butter, a little low carb granola called Sola (didn't add that until I hit maintenance) Now I add some fine golden flax. And maybe some pepitas sprinkled on top.

Suffering from ulcers and chronic pain, help!

Welcome to the forums. Wow, aren't you having a rough time. First of all, don't give up. You can't give up. It's up to you to take care of you and advocate for you. You need to be the squeaky wheel. Stop going to the Docs telling you to live with it. I can't believe any doctor would say this. It seems they are more focused on not being blamed than fixing the problem(s). Find new Docs that will work to figure this out. In fact, I would get a set of Docs that can review what has been done and how your surgeries may have contributed. A lot of new information has come out about ulcers in recent years. Make sure you get a Doc that is up on it. I am not a Doc. I believe there is a solution out there. You need to believe it too. You may not be getting good results from the Dilaudid. It is time released and those don't always work so well for Bypass folks. It's a MAYBE thing, so if you feel it's working ignore this. Did you have any of these issues before you had surgery? Where are the ulcers? Are they in the bypassed stomach? In the pouch? In the intestines? Educate yourself so you can challenge your Docs. Look at any over the counter drugs you may be taking. Some OTC drugs contain things that might be problematic for Bypass folks. Such as NSAIDs. Look at OTC things that contain multiple ingredients, check each active ingredient. Check the side effects. If you haven't started already, log your food and drink. Time, quantity, location, company, mental attitude. There may be a connection the Docs can make between your log and your symptoms. Again, if you give up you can't find a solution. You must keep going, keep working at it, keep advocating for you. If you don't do it, who will? Good luck, Tek

    Sleeve to DS

@GottaBeBlair and everyone Hello everyone, I am new to this forum. It seems that GottaBeBlair and I had the same surgery about the same time, so I wanted to see if you are having the same symptoms as I am having. I am 1 week post op sleeve revision to sadi/sips/mini ds. I have just started full liquids, protien shake, yogurt +water. I take multi vit from bariatric advantage 2x day. I have been experiencing strong intestinal gurgling with explosive mini diarrhea with little black stool that smells terrible. in addition to the very smelly flatuence the only way I have found to calm everything down is to take liquid pain medicine. have you been experiencing similar side effects? and did your Dr. tell you how long this will last?
  6. Hi all, so glad they added this forum! I was sleeved in 2017 and lost 90lbs. Unfortunately I experienced great loss and trauma in 2019 to recent and find myself meeting the criteria for weight loss surgery again. I’ve done a lot of work on myself since and learned how to cope without using food. I’m starting the approval process for a revision on 11/19/20. Anyone on here get a second surgery due to weight gain? I know they do revisions for GERD and other issues but I want to hear from anyone who had a revision for gain. Did you sleeve to bypass? Resleeve? Sleeve to DS? Bypass to...? Did insurance cover it? Make you do a diet program first? Did it take months? tell me all the things!

    Super new to this group

I had the sleeve, not the bypass but I was discharged with a prescription for both a stool softener and a laxative. They told me that constipation is super common after weight loss surgery. I would check in with your surgeon's office. They can probably tell you what they recommend for you to take.
  8. Recently had a bypass, so when did you start bms like 5days for me now and no BM what did you do ? What did you take? Sent from my LM-Q730 using BariatricPal mobile app

    HELP!

What I found was that my insurance didn’t care one way or the other about the previous surgery. The reason was that it was longer than a year since, so it was not considered to be a revision in their view. I suggest you call them yourself to be sure. Also highly suggest you go for bulky clothing and wear your heavy boots 😂

    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

My surgery is scheduled for November 5th. It is getting so close! I had a lap Band for 12 years and did really well with it but it slipped and I had to have it removed in January. My doctor immediately suggested bypass. I thought no way, I can do this on my own. I have been doing so well for the last 12 years! Ha! My doctor was right. I have gained 40 lbs since having the band removed. I am not required to do a pre op diet. Just clear liquids the day before. Seems odd, but I wasn’t going to argue! I would love to have a group to follow through this and talk to about our progress, challenges and successes!
  11. At the suggestion of my PCP, I am considering WLS. In 2005, I had lap band surgery. In 2015, I had a colectomy due to diverticulitis and bowel microperforations, and the lap band was removed when the colectomy was done. NOW, I have a very large incisional hernia in my abdomen from the colectomy surgery, and a hiatal hernia, both of which need to be repaired. The first surgeon I saw would not operate until I lost weight; my BMI is around 40-41. I am also older than many people posting here (68 on Medicare). So my PCP has referred me to a WLS surgeon. Has anyone here had gastric bypass or sleeve after having had a colectomy? I have only had my initial telemedicine appointment, and am looking for comments from anyone with similar experiences. Appreciate your comments in advance! Thanks.
  12. I’m glad someone has addressed this issue as I am 3 weeks post op RNY revision and having the worst smelling poo and farts of my life. The smell drifts through out the whole house and is quite embarrassing! Poopori and sprays don’t cover it. This with a liquid diet and now moving into soft purée only foods. Could it be intolerance to the bariatric protein powder I am using? But then it wouldn’t make sense as I didn’t have this problem during pre-op diet and drinking this powder with no fat milk. Gosh, I pray it’s something that passes but now that I read comments I see others suffering 5 & 6 months post op. Going to try digestive enzymes if I can find chewables? I already take probiotics and eat yogurt. Anybody out there with any other ideas? Please help!

sure ! SIPS= Stomach Intestinal Pylorus Sparing It's a modification and similar to the duodenal switch. I will be a revision surgery from a gastric plication
  15. The tummy tuck part was probably the easiest part, after I got my drains out at 3 1/2 weeks. I didn't need muscle tightening otherwise my dr would have done it. The back part of the "360" was hard to get used to. It took at least a month to be able to bend over and not feel like my butt incision was going to split open. The arms were a hard recovery and the most painful. My incisions opened on both arms. The right one has healed, the left has a little more to go. It will need a revision with my next surgery. One thing I didn't realize...I'll probably never have to shave my armpits again! The skin that is there now doesn't have hair! I measured 73 inches of incision between my 360 lower body lift and extended brachioplasty! I'm 9 weeks post op and my body is still spitting out some stitches that didn't absorb. I'm ready for round 2...breast lift and back lift. Hopefully that happens early next year. It depends on when I can get time off from work and the sale of a house to have the money to pay for it!

    Re-sleeve to Bypas

Hello... I have had your same journey original surgery was gastric sleeve and then re-sleeve in 2016 and now conversion to bypass on 10/07/20. The GERD was terrible and my weight loss was stalled and actually gaining. Plus i had a stricture. I am feeling so much better.
  19. I just had a tummy tuck, butt lift and brachioplasty Aug 25. My next step is breast lift and back lift early next year. It probably won't be Jan but hopefully soon. I still have an open wound on one arm and I need that to heal so I can get that scar revised. The arms were the hardest recovery I've had so far. I'm so happy I chose to have this surgery. I can say that now that I'm 9 weeks post op!

    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

No I haven’t start the pre op diet yet. Though I’m trying to make some changes to my food intake now. I will start my required shakes 2 weeks before surgery day. Have you started your pre op diet yet? I actually had the sleeve surgery in 2016, however due to some weight regain and severe GERD my surgeon has recommended to bypass for me. Hoping for a smoother journey this time around. I’m excited for myself and also for others going through this journey such as yourself 🙂 Hoping this community will be beneficial in support, advice and encouragement from like-minded people :)

    November 2020 sleevers

It’s perfectly acceptable to be scared and anxious as you are preparing for a really big surgery and life change. But if it’s any reassurance I’ve had the band, I had a lap band repair and 12 years later had the band removed and all of those surgeries went just fine. I’m having gastric bypass surgery next week and at times I get a bit anxious and that’s okay. It’s a big deal. But if you look at percentages you have a waaaaay bigger percentage of doing just fine than having a complication. Feelings are valid and okay, good or bad. But rest assured you are much more likely to be okay than not. Stop reading horror stories about surgeries that haven’t gone well and spend time thinking about what size spring clothes you are going to need. Go through a Romans catalog with your daughter and pick out fun outfits. Think about what life is going to be like in the months ahead...there is a lot of lovely new things that will be happening for you. 🥰

    HELP!

Welcome to the forums. Don't think of whatever you do until you get your revision as a diet. You and I know that diets don't work. Think of it as your new eating plan that you will do for the rest of your life. Your band restricted portion size. Presumably you also had an eating plan to go with the smaller portion size. Return to the plan and return to portion size as best you can. Your plan was supposed to be for the rest of your life so get back on board. Your insurance is as likely to pay for your revision as it would if you never had surgery in the first place. Do the best you can. If you give up on your plan until you have surgery, well, then you very well may gain your weight back. Good luck, Tek

    HELP!

I had my Lap Band removed three years ago. Now, my weight is starting to come back. I couldn't have a revision done at the time of the removal because I was not overweight. I weighed 143 lbs. Now, I'm up to 162. I have an appointment with my surgeon about, hopefully, a revision surgery. My BMI is now 33. Has anyone had a revision years later? Did you insurance pay for it. I'm scared. I can't go back to 230 lbs. Thank you.
