Gastric Sleeve Reverse or Revision?
Foxbins replied to Green1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your sleeve can't be reversed, the excess portion of your stomach was removed and discarded after your sleeve surgery, but there are other revision surgeries that can work with the stomach that remains. RNY, Mini-Bypass, and DS or SIPS are all possible with a sleeved stomach. Look in the Revision forum for people's stories. -
RNY because of GERD, not weight loss?

There are a number of threads, including mine, about having RNY for GERD in the Revision forum. -
What to tell work during co-vid??
jami.1992 replied to TrueNorth1's topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
I told my work that I was having gallbladder removal surgery (which I did, it was just while I was also having gastric bypass) but I had to tell our Human Resources office everything for me to qualify for FMLA bc the hospital fills out the paperwork. But legally they are not allowed to tell anyone about you or your medical history. -
Gastric Sleeve Reverse or Revision?

not sure about making it smaller. As far as revision to bypass, yes - several people have had that done. -
Sleeve to Bypass & hungry?
Coexister replied to Christina760's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had revision surgery October 7th and it took awhile before my hunger went away. I am now on soft foods and definitely do not feel the restrictions I did when I had the sleeve but I have also not eaten anywhere close to the amount I was eating pre-surgery. I am being cautious in my intake. Normally with sleeve I would feel some resistance with liquids but now they go down easier than ever which worries me. So I pray with regular food I will some kind of restrictions ? -
I had Gastric sleeve for about 5 years. I was wondering if the pouch can be fixed to the point that it can go back to its original stomach size (as in being reversed) or being revised to a different procedure? Like Gastric Bypass, Mini Gastric Bypass, etc. Anyone know this info?

I am going for mini gastric bypass surgery and don't want to tell work. Any suggestions of surgeries I can say I am having? Keeping in mind that it is during co-vid so it needs to be something that I NEED to get done as hospitals I dont think are doing surgeries that can wait? Suggestions?

I'm almost 13 years out and absolutely love my band! I've had my band since March 2008. I lost the majority of my weight in the first 6-9 months (from 200lbs down to 140lbs, i'm only 5'2") and managed to stay within a maintenance range for the past 12+ years, which included 2 pregnancies and a my fair share of fluctuations along the way. In the past year i have made some more habit changes that led me to drop another 20ish pounds leaving me at about 120-125lbs at 5'2". It's hard to see so many people suffering from complications with their bands, but i know that that has been the reality for many. I worry sometimes that even after 13 great years complication-free, that something could just go wrong! Honestly my biggest worry is that if something went wrong, i would no longer qualify for a revision surgery because i am at goal. I don't want to think about what it would be like without this tool! I used to post a lot in the beginning of my journey, but recently came back. So often it feels like i'm on this journey all alone, but being here makes me realize that's not the case. It makes me so happy to hear from some veterans (and to actually be one this time around). Please keep posting and i will try to do the same!

Sleeve to Bypass & hungry?
Christina760 replied to Christina760's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Ah okay yes my hunger is starting to go away now. So odd but my surgeon said I will lose weight bcuz it’s the bypass. My sleeve was a little stretched which he said happens w all sleeves over time. I’ve lost 7 pounds since surgery on liquids. I start my soft foods this Thursday or next Tuesday not sure what way I want to try it yet but I can do between those dates. -
Is there a reason why you don't have to be on a liquid diet? And if you don't mind sharing, why are you getting the sleeve after bypass?

Sleeve to Bypass & hungry?
mae7365 replied to Christina760's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had a bypass on October 29, 2020. I had the sleeve in November 2014 and definitely felt restriction AND loss of hunger. Since my bypass surgery, I'm hungry. Still in the Stage 2 liquid phase, but I'm anxiously waiting for week 3 - soft food! I didn't have the bypass for weight loss (although I'm hoping weight loss is a side effect). My surgeon told me that I may not see the severe weight drop like I did after the sleeve. I'm just hoping that I will notice the restriction once I start on real food 11/13/20. Until then.........I'm hungry!!!!! -
Worried that doctor made my pouch too big?
Starwarsandcupcakes replied to Coexister's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I was the same way after my revision. When I hit solid foods though, oh man there was a huge difference. I still have days 3 months out where even a 1/4 cup of things like pumpkin seeds (thoroughly chewed) or a couple bites of chicken make me hurt. Lots of people notice more restrictions when they get to solid foods and dense protein so try and just wait and see. -
I was so worried about this too as I can drink water like there is no tomorrow and got scared when someone told me it could stretch my stomach. I did some research and found out otherwise and oh so relieved! They want you to go slow at first because it can cause pain and nausea and then you can slowly increase with comfort. Eventually you should be able to drink 8 ozs in 5 to 15 minutes (to my relief) according to this article: https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/bariatrics/_documents/nutrition-hydration-nutrition-after-bariatrics-surgery.pdf . Here is another that says water will not stretch the pouch: https://primesurgicare.com/can-drinking-water-stretch-stomach-after-gastric-bypass/

Revision not enough weight loss.
Laura Deleon Reyes replied to Laura Deleon Reyes's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Yes, I did go through the stages again. I was losing a good amount in the beginning. I dropped 60 lbs with the revision. Ive just put a little back on since 8 months ago. I put back on 10 of those. Ive been told it could be from me having 2 more surgeries since then, but am worried so trying to make sure i stay on track. I went through the stages however, i want to say not to get discouraged for there isnt huge changes like there was with the first one. It also took a bit more of a toll on me for i have gotten older since the last one. One great thing this time was no drain hoses. Dont know if you experienced those , but they are terrible. -
Anyone November 2020
mocha2871@yahoo.com replied to mgilbert's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am scheduled for a revision surgery on 11/19/20, I am on my 14 day pre-diet. I dont have to do the liquid diet but just a low carb, high protein diet. I am mentally ready to get this over with in order to feel better. I have started prepping for my pureed diet once I get home from the hospital. I am freezing pureed food so that I can be ready to have meals on hand. Its been 7 yrs since my sleeve so I have to get my mind wrapped around how it was when i got home from the hospital. Good look to everyone on this journey -

Hi there, When you had your revision, did you go back through the post-op stages (liquids, purees, soft food, regular food, etc.) and did you go back to the basic diet you used for weight loss the first time? -
Revision not enough weight loss.

I am new here as well and I am considering revising to the bypass from having the sleeve last year in May. I have vertigo and very much confined to my bed accept for when I am working, which is quite difficult. However, I have been stalled for quite some time and have picked back up 30 of the pounds I lost. I started at 326 and the scales 279 now, I am seriously considering the bypass. Some days I can eat more than I should and other days I don't eat nothing.I do a lot of bored snacking sine I work from home. I wold love to follow your journey and perhaps be each others support. -
Sleeve to Bypass & hungry?
Christina760 posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hi all! I went from sleeve to bypass. Didn’t have hunger with the sleeve. Had bypass on 11/2 and I’m starving. Anyone experience this? Is it just because it hard to get enough protein or will I feel this hungry once I’m on soft foods on the 16th? -
Risks Concerns
Laura Deleon Reyes replied to NJTeacher2772's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Im older, 51years, and had the gastric bypass for I gained so much weight from illnesses and injuries. I went up to 550 lbs and everything in my body hurt. I couldnt hardly walk and forget about setting down in a tub. My degenerative disc disease in my back was causing severe pain everyday. The doctors told me of the risk, but for me it was about lessing the pain i felt. I needed help after recovering from heart failure from the flu. I decided to do it. I lost 278 lbs after my bypass. I will tell you that i did have some pain afterwards from the drain they had to leave in, but that was not for to long. Before I knew it I was dropping weight so fast that i was in disbelief. It was a wonderful feeling. I could walk around again, dance with my husband, play with my grandkids. All those things are the exact reason i got mine. Also it takes commitment, i started to gain back and am working to get back on path. However, i wouldnt have changed my choice ever. Good luck. -
Revision not enough weight loss.

Im new here , but feel like i need to find a pal to chat with to maybe went through some things like me. Go first gastric bypass 2011 after having heart failure. Went from 550 lbs down to 254 lbs. I was so happy . Became a teacher ect. Then from 2013 to 2018, i ended up needing 3 surgeries. Weight started to come back. Then in 2018 got injured at work, needed two surgeries on my knee. One being total knee replacement. I got revision for i had put weight back on from being down from leg. However, i didnt lose that much from revision and fill like ive lost myself again. Im at 295 and really want to at least loose 40 to 50 more but have plateaued and kind given up . Had my revision done 8 months ago. -
Hello! It’s been about 11 weeks since I had my gastric bypass. I’ve the last 4 weeks I consistently feel sick after eating. No matter what I eat I don’t feel well after. I get tired, nauseous, and have very bad phlegm in the back of my throat. Has anyone had this happen?

I had weight loss surgery on May 22, 2019, starting weight was 326 and I only got down to 266. During this process my body took on hormonal changes such as menopause. Right now I have sugar cravings that are seemingly out of control, I feel like a failure and that I will never lose the weight. Due to the pandemicI have actually gained weight, so I am now 285. My question to you guys, have there ever been anyone in the same predicament as myself and how did you pick yourself up to accomplish your weight loss goal? Can someone please offer some advice? I am thinking about having the bypass as I feel the sleeve was not beneficial for me.
