I'm 3 weeks post op and yes I took my birth control with me and took it there. They never said anything to me about my pills being less effective after surgery if I got preg right now I would be pretty upset, being preg and trying to lose weight don't go we'll together plus I don't wanna deplete a child of nutrition cuz I'm unable to absorb food.

Stomach pains
Isabelmonster replied to Isabelmonster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did on Friday he said protein shakes and some acid reflux medicine. He said if it continues through the week then he will send me to the hospital to get some lab work and stuff done. I do have to be persistent but I’m also scared of like hospitals at the moment but if it has to get done it has to get done! 👍🏻 -
I could drink water right after surgery. In my docs office this is the norm. With a new stomach I feel we all cautious at first . Over time you will drink more and more. After a couple of weeks I could chug water to a certain extent. You will also find your diebets will receed fast. Get ready and hold on tight its a crazy ride at times but worth it.

March 9th sleevers
blacktee92675 replied to jnc102012's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was also sleeved Monday. The first two days were tough. Couldn't get down more than about 100 calories, and couldn't poop. I think I've got a decent routine now. - 7am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm - Protein shake mixed with 4oz Water and 4oz skim milk. - Sip mixture of three parts water and one part juice or Gatorade throughout the day. - 4oz prune juice before bed. Still not easy, but I getting the protein I need without much discomfort. Guilty pleasure for the day, I opened a jar or Peanut Butter just for a smell. :-) -
A few weeks before surgery I had to remove my nuva ring and I ended up getting my period twice in a month. I havent gotten my period yet and I'm 6 days late - so naturally I'm freaking out!! Hubby and I have been extremely safe- actually using condoms - something we haven't done in God knows how long !! Lol - I'm just freaking and needed to vent !

You've come to the right place. I'm 11.5 weeks out, doing well. How have things been for you so far? -
Oh man, I can relate. Four months post-op and I feel nauseated more than half of the time that I eat anything. It's totally hit or miss. I can eat a particular food and feel OK afterwards, and the next time I eat it I feel like I'm going to hurl. I also feel like there's a rock in my esophagus almost all the time. Talked to my surgeon's office and my nutritionist this week, and I'm going to start taking Pepcid to see if it helps. They had me on Omeprazole for three months post-op, and these problems really didn't start until I was done with that. I think my entire digestive tract is just a lot more sensitive than it used to be. @LisaMc47, if you feel like you can't handle solid food, try some protein shakes or drinks, if you can handle them. Sometimes I just have to resort to that, especially since eating solid protein seems to be one of my worst triggers. Also it's true, your relationship to food changes a lot. For me, I don't really take any joy in eating, even the things that I really like, and I think it's because feeling sick after eating more than half the time has conditioned me not to want to eat. Good luck, and I hope you feel better.

I’m having a bit of an episode tonight. This hasn’t been an easy journey so far. I got revised 5/27 and was in the hospital another 3 nights this week. One for a huge hematoma, it happens. 2 nights to repair some scar tissue, a very fast healer the doc said as it was twisting and I was vomitting bile and had a sour stomach. He went and repaired it. I feel gassy today being home. Trying to drink as much as I can but I just can’t do it. Even with the sleeve I had an issue with liquids. Especially water. Tonight I took two gas pills and within an hour now I vomited them right up. Omg! So scary. Here we go again. I’m so afraid. Did I make a mistake by getting the RNY. Will this be my life now moving forward. I recall the sleeve being easier. I’m so anxious tonight so excuse me if I’m rambling. I’m so sad. Why did i do this. Was it worth it. Should I have lived with the constant daily nausea and heartburn :-(( I

First of all, the depression is TOTALLY normal right now - your hormones are still all out-of-whack from the surgery and you are adjusting to a radically different lifestyle. Second of all, just work your plan and keep track of everything you eat - as long as you are doing all the right things, you are just in the 3 week stall - it will eventually end and the weight will start coming off again! It happens to everyone at some point in their sleeve journey - keep the faith!

Gosh I'm so glad we have this website. I'm right there with ou as well. I'm 5 weeks post op and find I'm stuck at 228. I've been 228 then 229 then 228 for almost 2 weeks now. Very frustrating but wait........I just incredibly lost all this weight I'd never dream of losing before over the last 5weeks and it wasn't even an effort, so who's really "winning" now over losing weight? We ALL are......my life doesn't even remotely revolve around food other than trying to keep my Protein up. I'm not obsessing over food, not craving food and not planning my life around it. I'm the winner and not the scale! Try to remember that It's not just a numbers game in this battle, but a new life's journey. Enjoy your time and be patient. I can't believe I'm writing this as I was just as frustrated as you about ten minutes ago until I read everyone's post. Heres the deal....when you feel frustrated at the numbers, measure yourself. I've measured 3 body parts: boobs, waist and hips. After about 3 weeks, I lost 5" overall. This past week, while my weigh plateaued for a bit, I come to find I've lost 9" overall. That's awesome...my face and neck really show the loss as well as my now baggy shorts. I even sat on the floor this past week and was able to cross my legs comfortably. I was able to hook the ankle straps on my dress shoes without unbuttoning my pants. These are all accomplishments of our commitment . It's to change our lives forever vs. just for now. Don't think of it as sacrificing....it isn't any longer as Sacrifice, its a lifestyle change. It's defeating the enemy which is food. I love what johnlatte said....it's full of wisdom! Good luck and remember, we're all on the scale with you, each of us defeating it together, it's not just you being alone. I'll finish my coffee, get on the scale and be pissed off again....oh well. My theory......increase my Water. That's what I'll do this week and let's see if I find a loss. -

I'm at 9 weeks post op and dealing with the same 2 pounds up and down for the past 2 weeks. I just remind myself that it will keep going and that I wouldn't have lost the other 41 pounds otherwise. I can only hope to step on the scale and have a few pounds down like some people report. I'm exercising, eating my Protein, low carbs, getting my Water .... it's bound to come off eventually. Hang in there! You have still lost an awesome amount of weight -

If you look at the numbers, though, it's 4 pounds a week! That's incredible! With stalls and what-not I'm averaging about 4 pounds week as well. I'm losing last in my stomach so it's making pants difficult My back fat is slimming down, my legs are, my butt is .... but my pant size only went down 2 even with 45 pounds down. -

I'll chime in with my thanks too. I'm 3 1/2 weeks out and the scale this weeks shows that I gained 4 pounds, and I am freaking out a bit. I really hoped for significant losses in the first month. I'm trying to stay positive ... it helps to see that I am not the only one that is frustrated. -
Hi Pookybear. No you are definitely not alone. I had the problem just a lil bit before surgery due to a hysterectomy (ovaries remain though for right now). BUT now it is a big problem. It hurts just to walk around and I also have extremely hard Water at home. I haven't really looked into something for it, but I may need to. I have been using Vagisil, but it is such a pain to have to keep applying though the day. I see a gynecologist in a few weeks for ovary problems and I am going to ask her what can be done about the severe dryness. I will let you know. I have other health issues and sometimes don't remember to follow up, so shoot me a message or something if I forget to let you know. Tell your man it's not him. My husband thought this at first, when I initially started changing after the hysterectomy, but now we just keep our room fully stocked up on lube (lol). And, please know that it is NOT your fault and don't let this stop you from reaching your goal. You are doing great!

Hey Ladies, So I have had PCOS for about 10 years... I haven't had a period in about that long..the only time i would get one is when my dr would have me take progesterone to force on on. But it wasn't a regular one on my own. I am a little over 2 1/2 months out and Monday I got my first real period on my own... this probably explains the sever moodiness the past few weeks that I couldn't figure out before. The last time I dealt with this was long I forgot what it was like. My only problem and question is how horribly bad it is! I know this is going to be TMI so i apologize ahead of time. I have to change my tampon less than once an hour.. and I"m using the strongest they come in.. I am even extra protecting and wearing a pad.. and am thankful cause its that bad. My boobs had been so sore to the touch the past week that even wearing a bra was uncomfortable. That has now passed. I am having such bad cramps and can't do anything becuase I don't want to be too far from home or the bathroom... My question is I know this is becuase of the PCOS and my body adjusting to being normal again. Does it get any better after a few cycles? I can't even remember what my periods were like when I use to get them, I know they were not this bad.. I called my Dr and they said there isn't anything they can do for me..I'm just so weak and worried about losing too much blood. Any advice from fellow PCOS er's or non that have eperienced this would be greatly appreciated. I'm at a lost.. my husband obviously can't understand and I feel bad that I have banned him from our bathroom and he has to use the guest one for now. LoL.

Hello All, I have decided that I want to have the surgery. My issues are I do not know where to begin. I still have a lot of unanswered questions and was hoping this site would help with that. I want to know how does this process start? I am going to my primary doctor next month and wish for her to recommend me getting this surgery with hopes that United Healthcare will cover it. My issue is do I wait or do I contact a surgeon. I think I found a good surgeon but I wonder about how long is the time span between the time you have your first appointment to how soon the surgery takes place after? I guess I am wondering will I be waiting a few days, weeks , months or years help......

Not loosing weight :(
thedivinemsQ replied to musiclover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you tried cortisone shot for the knee? I had to have that last week as I couldn't get the swelling under control and it worked like magic! In my regular vitamin rotation I take Turmeric supplements by New Chapter to control inflammation (I have Rheumatoid arthritis) and for the most part this a enough to keep joints under control. Also If your knee started acting up did you up what you take for pain or did you start taking something for pain because pain meds can stall weight loss. Make sure you're getting more than 60g protein, and up your water- that helped me. Good luck and try to keep your chin up, your weight will move -
Last week, I had my pre surgery endoscopy. It was a breeze. That being said, my surgeon found everything to be normal, with the exception of a white thing in my esophagus. It was biopsied, along with some other areas and was not found to be cancerous or infected. He wants me to see a certain dermatologist for this?? Not quite understanding this... Anyone else experience this strange thing? I sure hope this doesn't disqualify me.....

Hi Jazziej I like your story and you are looking good. I like you have read and researched so much on gastric surgery mostly on youtube but l found some was helpful others scared me a little. I like you am worried about surgery but l know its worth it. The lsd l did was shakes of 200 cals which l purchased from the hospital called Optifast. I could have 4 sachets per day with veg x 2 daily. It started to get hard the last few days of the 2nd week trying to find different ways of making veg look and taste different and not boring. I only drink half cup coffee in the mornings l mostly drink herbal tea as l dont seem to want to drink coffee. I have not found a good protein shake yet my hospital has given me a list so l will look around as they are expensive for a quality protein shake. I hope this has helped.

Acne after surgery?
Pretty_In_Purple replied to beachgurl84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never had any huge acne problems until after surgery. The doctor said it was not related to the surgery. Maybe not from the surgery itself but the change in diet and exercise, hormones, stress, etc., I had the worse acne i'd ever had about a month after surgery. My advice is, After working out and sweating, wash your face with antibacterial soap or a cleanser that has benzoid peroxide in it. Also, if you are taking biotin, lower your dose. I was taking 5000iu a day. I've halved that to 2,500iu. My face is much better. I always make sure to take the time to wash my face after a workout or if my skin just feels oily. I'm 15 weeks out Monday.
