Normally you would do weights 3 days a week, with rest day between workouts. My doctor wants at least 30 minutes cardio 7 days a week.

My weight has been stalled for the last few weeks. I have reviewed my food journal just to make certain nothing is out of the ordinary, and every thing is good and on target. I'm exercising several days a week, and get more than enough Water. What have any of you done when your weight loss stalled? Thanks, P

:help: Hi all. I need some advice. I have a Vanguard 9cm band (holds 8cc total). Surgery was the end of June. I just had my 3rd fill and am now up to 7ccs! and I feel no restriction!!! (Nothing has ever gotten stuck, no acid reflux/ heartburn, never pb’d- nothing). My doc has confirmed all three times that the saline is all there and nothing has leaked. I have given it almost 4 months now and have tried to be very patient. But it’s just not working. I was self-pay, and obviously have a lot of money and time invested into this and I feel like I’m getting nowhere. Weight loss has been very minimal (15 lbs. in all) and almost all of it was lost in the two weeks following surgery. My doctor is baffled. All three fills were done with fluro and this last one looked like the band was tight (the liquid I was drinking was moving down pretty slowly). Has anyone had this problem? I’m scared to death because I only have the capacity of one more cc, then I’m done! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

It is frustrating! I haven't budged in the last month. I need to loose 40 pounds, and my body is fighting me every step of the way! I figure, at least I'm not gaining , so the battle continues. It was definitely easy at first, but now, I know I must be diligent about what, and how much , I eat. Meals are a breeze, its that damn urge to snack/graze that's a killer!!

..I enjoyed your post mistysj...that is such great news about your diabetes. You have given yourself many more year of life and avoided the painstakingly curse of this terrible disease. I did not have diabetes pre op.. However I was so scared that if I don't drop the weighting was carrying, I would get it. I had a family member who had diabetes and to see what it did to his body was saddening. Anyhow.. Thanks for posting and sharing your new found joy in life.

Hi All, I was sleeved on 11/8/18 and my husband was sleeved on 11/29/18. As of today he is down from 280 (260 day of surgery) to 205 and he is concerned that he’s loosing too quickly. He’s also been struggling with nausea for most of the day. The surgeon’s office had him start Zantac 75 and peptobismal chewables to rule out just a stomach bug. (In addition to protonix for reflux since the surgery) He has an appointment with his general doctor and he’s going to bring his concerns up to her as well, but I wanted to see if anyone had a similar experience here. Thanks!

Loosing weight too quickly/chronic nausea
Geodude replied to rch1286's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had surgery 11/13/18 and I'm down 78lbs since surgery and feeling great. I started at roughly the same weight, so I don't think him nor I are loosing too quickly. Just like Jazzy said, so long as he is hitting his protein and water targets, I think he is doing fine. I know as a guy I always lost faster than the women in my life. So it is probably just that. Loosing weight too quickly/chronic nausea
SteveT74 replied to rch1286's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It doesn't sound like he's losing too fast to me. In fact, it sounds pretty reasonable for someone that is complying with their post-op diet and is hopefully getting exercise. However, the nausea is definitely not cool and not typical. The fact that he is not feeling well would concern me. No one wants to lose weight because they are nauseous all the time. If all the antacids aren't helping, I would be concerned at this point about a potential stricture or GERD. He might need an endoscopy just to check out what's going on in there. -
Clothing choices are so much better in regular sizes!
Jolanda replied to mb20mom's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wowee, yes! I can afford to pick and choose now... In a store the other day I was trying on a sweater and asked a complete stranger (woman in her fifties) if it looked good or not (I need some shopping support still, it seems). What did she answer? "Yes, it looks great because you're so thin." Never saw her before in my life. She had no idea I used to be vastly overweight - perhaps the maintaining this weight idea and not losing any more is the right thing to do I felt like giving her a hug, she had no idea what that random comment meant to me. -
What kinds of things can or cant you eat?
Nmomy replied to Dreamjeans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, Not realy I don't get hungry I just don't want to loose my hair due to lack of protein. I drink carrot and yogurt juice, I mainly drink instead of eating. I am getting disappointed, and questioning my decision about the surgery. I have paid so much to get my desire weight and you are probably right may be I don't have too much to loose. I do not excersice due to my back problem. Thanks again -

a little about me. Newbie with no surgery date (yet!)
rnsamantha posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am a 34 year old mother of 2 busy boys ages 4 and 6. I was a normal size throughout childhood and adolescence, but have been overweight/obese since the age of 18. It seems with each passing year another 5-10 or more pounds get added. I know I can lose weight, but I can't lose the 90 lbs that I need to without help. I feel like I have been gaining and losing the same 10-30 lbs for the last 4 years and with each loss, it seems to come back with an additional 5 lbs. I am worried for the future if I keep in this pattern. Both my parents have diabetes and hypertension and I do not want to end up with the same conditions. It sounds wimpy but I have chronic pain in my left foot that hurts everyday and I am sure it is secondary to my weight. I feel like I own all the products in the arch support aisle, I've had steroid injections, and I take ibuprofen for pain at least 1-2x daily for this pain. I feel overwhelmed by the amount of weight I need to lose to achieve a healthy weight which is why I am seeking a permanent weight loss solution with a gastric sleeve. Although I am apprehensive about surgery (I've never had any type of surgery), I am more afraid of chronic illness, living with chronic pain, and seeing the number on the scale rise with each passing year. I know it won't be easy, and I realize that I will be permanently changing my dietary habits. I feel ready for this change, and more optimistic about my future if I can have the surgery. I am currently in month 5 or a 6 month supervised diet and exercise program and hoping that my insurance company will approve me ASAP! -

Anyone had a Band fitted on NHS with BMI below 40
Maincat replied to donnape's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You qualify for a lapband on the NHS with a BMI of over 40, or a BMI over 35 with co-morbities. You should talk to your GP and get him/her to refer you. You should also have shown that you have tried to lose the weight by other means - diets, slimming pills etc. Your GP writes to the hospital confirming this. I had my operation on the NHS - who were wonderful - and I had to show that I satisfied the criteria above. I had a six month waiting list, which is now down to three months. Hope that helps. -
When you lost a lot of weight or when you reched your goal weight did you breasts get smaller? I know that everyone is different. To be perfectly honest I dont think I am vain I have just always had large breasts since i was like 9 so I dont know what it would be like to be small chested.

Starting weight: 249 Surgery weight: 233 Today's weight: 162 Today is my 4 month surgiversary. I can finally say it was all worth it. First few weeks/months I had a ton of buyer's remorse. Nausea, mourning the loss of eating, an ulcer, etc. I am happy now. I have a great husband, 2 beautiful boys, a beautiful home, and a job I love. Yet I wasn't happy because I hated myself before. RNY has helped me lose 87 lbs, 13 until I hit my goal, and I am HAPPY again. I'm comfortable in my own skin, which I never imagined I could be. To people in the real early stages, I promise it gets easier. I promise. It will always be a struggle, I struggle daily with Water and Protein, and I'm losing hair (and I'm a hairstylist! Yuck!) but it is so worth it! Thank you RNY. It's the single best thing I've ever done for myself.

Hopeful for PCOS Relief and sharing with friends!
Theresaxxx posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi......I am going for my initial consultation for surgery this Saturday. I can't wait, been battling weight ever since I was diagnosed with PCOS 15 years ago. I am also insulin resistant. A somewhat unrelated question but how open have you been with people about having your surgery? I am open about my PCOS etc, I suppose it's kind of an excuse for my weight etc but I am not sure if I want to share about my surgery with friends etc. I don't want to lie to people but I am not sure if I can cope with the negativity etc.........any advise would be greatly received! -
banded in '05, back to the pre-surgery weight...
brittanyinohio posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Heyyy. I'm in need of some help. Ready for my story? ..I was banded by Dr. Ortiz in TJ, Mexico when I was 15 (2005). I did good. I remember the excitement when I was finally below 200lbs. I got in the scale, hopped off, and immediately called my mom and told her. It was the greatest feeling ever. She had it done too, so me making it below 200 was helping her. Anyway, that was in probably 2007. Rewind. When I was banded, I weighed probably 275#. It took me about two years to lose 75#s. So, in December of 2007 I got a boyfriend. We got serious, and (not to use it as an excuse) I got comfortable. Here I am, July 2010, I am back to 275#, maybe more. I refuse to get on the scale. I'm 20 years old. I need a buddy. I do not want someone who wants to tell me to go get a fill or to go get my liquid taken out. Be my friend, not my mother please. Every night I lay in bed and I think, "I'm going to get up early and work out before work." ..I hit snooze. I have so much motivation at 11pm, but I have nothing from the time I wake up to the time I get ready for bed in the evening. I'm looking for someone my age (20s) who I can talk to and relate with. Someone who is or has been in my situation, please. -
banded in '05, back to the pre-surgery weight...
scootergooser replied to brittanyinohio's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yeah, I pretty much eat whatever I want. I have a MAJOR sweet tooth. If I could stay away from chocolate I'd probably be a stick figure lol A taco sald isn't necessaraly bad. It just depends on how much of it you can eat. Does your band give you any restriction or does it feel like its stretched out? I've only had mine filled twice. The initial fill and one this past year. I can't even remember how much liquid is in my band. I still have a problem with guaging how much I should be able to eat. Some things, like chips, I can go to town on. Other things like bread and Pasta can make me feel like i'm choking when I eat them. I guess it's all in how the food breaks down and sits in out stomachs. What is a typical portion and meal for you? I guess in terms of what I can eat... If I had a hot dog, I could eat maybe one or two bites of the bun but demolish the dog lol and possibly have a couple of bites of a side item. *Sidney* url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/weight-loss/wM4qZ08/] [/url] -
Gaining weight???
Supersweetums replied to SFOTraveler's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just at a support group meeting in my area and learned that we can gain up to 10lbs in water weight! Yikes! And it can be for varying reasons, hormones, stress, sodium. Your body has just been through a lot and still recovering too! It happened to me too...I lost 2lbs and then gained back 1.5lbs. But it came back off and then some. I know it is hard, I have been struggling too, but it will come back off! -
Wow. Hang in there and don't give up. Maybe it's time for a professional second opinion. Are there other doctors in your area who might weigh in on this? I know doctors like to stick together sometimes. You might have to go OUT of your area, but this seems like a questionable deal to me. If you are dealing with the doctor who did the surgery, that person had to know what a catastrophe this is for you. I;d be in that doctor's office saying we need to DEAL with this so you can lose the weight that operation was intended to help you lose. Until that happens, this surgery is a failure. If it was any other kind of surgery, you BET the doctor would be back in there trying to create a success of his work. I don't want to overlook the expanded esophogus. Were you eating too much too fast and throwing up at all? If so, that would seem to correct itself over time if you also corrected your eating. This doctor needs to work with you. If he doesn't, find another one. And, as for $250 a fill...WOW... I pay nothing except $80 for the x-ray. I've had one fill and one unfill. I've gained weight after the unfill but I needed to. Now I need to just figure out how to maintain. Best of luck to you.

Thanks for sharing I'm supposed to have my first fill in a few weeks and I'm nervous. I've been losing weight and haven't had issues with hunger... at least not physical hunger!

only 20 pounds lost since surgery!!!!!
ccbcdeke replied to mbridgeman27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Consider the percentages...at 20 lbs you have lost more than 10% of your body weight. If I were to lose 20 lbs it would only be less than 6% of my body weight. :nonod:
