I was banded in Nov 07 and lost about 30lbs in the beginning, I went to get a second fill in Jan 08 and was told my port tilt. I had revision in Feb 08. I lost an additional @20lbs. In May 08 I experieced sharp pains in my lower left side. I was not able to have a bowel movement and I found to mention my incision would never close. I was hospitalized for bowel obstruction. The doctors didn't know if it was related to the band or not. I am experiencing the same pain and constipation is back. Could anyone tell me if this has happened to them? I made an appt with my doctor who performed the surgury but it seems like the staff is being very invasive about me coming in to get check. The doctor is also 1hr from my hometown and the place he administers the surgury is 2 1/2 hours away. PLEASE HELP

It has been awhile since I have been on the site but once again I forgot my password. I'm doing really good thus far. My preop weight: 317 pounds Now: 284.3. I just received my first fill a week ago. I had to be taken back into surgery for a revision due to my ports kept flipping when my surgeon tried to give a fill.

Thanks Xavier. It's been a wild experience to say the least. I feel good. Need to go in for a port revision Monday. I can't believe that I've lost so much weight that the port is sticking out of my belly. Should be a simple procedure.( I hope).
Don't compare......Your pace is your pace which is good. As long as you are losing, so what. We always tell each other this is not a diet but a journey. The journey is shorter or longer for each person. Still a great journey !!

Hi There, I just read your thread on port revision. Thanks for sharing! I am looking at having it done next week. I am interested in knowing if the weight has been coming off easier now that you have the port replaced, I read how you know have restriction so I guess that will be a yes to my question. Hey is it okay if I stay in touch with you? Thanks, Cheryl

Hi there! I agree, the whole group there are absolutely wonderful. I revised to the sleeve because after about the first year and a half, my body just seemed to become intolerant of it. I did everything right, it just wasn't working for me. I was always too tight and pb'ing, even when I hardly had any fill.

Hi Mac;
Sorry I have been away from home a long time and didn't see your reply when I was on line (not so comp. savy). I live in Vancouver. Who is your surgeon? It sounds like he's very good. I am seriously considering going to sleeve from lap. I just can't afford it yet after all the money for the lap. Do you know roughly what the revision might cost with your doctor. Your help is so valued thanks Vinnieboomba

Hi there! I had lots of problems with my band, too. I just had my revision on Monday and I am so thankful to have that thing out! I was having trouble swallowing recently and amazingly after surgery that issue was gone (along with many others). I have just begun the weight loss journey with the sleeve, but I will say I feel so much better already. Feel free to ask any questions!

Hi All, I had Lap Band Surgery July 2007 with great success for 12 months, loosing 34kilos. Since then I have had ongoing problems with my band and and had to have a revision last August. Over the past two years I have gradually put on 20 of the 34 kilos in which I had lost. Not happy! I have now decided to go for the sleeve can anyone give me any advise on the transition of this journey I am about to take. I would love to know the pro's and con's before I go in to have the Surgery. Thanks for your help.
Regards
Janet

Going for my revision to bypass tomorrow. Feeling a little nervous but also laidback at the same time. Pre-op diet was different to what I did three years ago, but I guess there is no one right way to do things. Here’s hoping all goes well!
