There have been several individuals on this board that had to have a revision from sleeve to gastric bypass because of severe acid reflux (GERD). It is generally recommended that if you have that condition you go with gastric bypass because sleeve will only make the condition worse.

I'm so sorry! Hopefully you get a quick and easy approval By far the insurance and waiting prior to surgery was the most stressful and hardest part for me. Surgery was a breeze compared to that drama. If you do happen to get denied it should be pretty easy to have your doctor revise the paperwork and then resubmit. But fingers crossed you won't have to even think about that!!!

Hi Miss Apple, I’m still feeling a bit delicate. Overdid it a couple of days ago and am now paying with some back pain. Otherwise getting there. I’m in the UK so I travelled to Belgium to see Christian De Bruyne. It was cheaper and he appears to have more experience than the UK surgeons do. I’m pleased so far the proof is definitely in the long term I think. Biggest regret for me is that i left it four years from getting my band out to act. I was only ever going to end up back at my pre band weight. I should have done this years ago! What’s making you consider a revision?

Holy crap...now I am totally nervous tomorrow for my revision. i don’t want to be too nervous that my Blood pressure goes up. So hard to keep calm -
I need to lose 100 more and will be having my revision this summer from sleeve to bypass. Had my sleeve 12/2013. I'm also worried about slower weight loss. Who knew starting at 250 lbs and BMI 41 would be considered starting at a lower weight?!

Can the surgeon leave more of the stomach if requested with VSG surgery
AtlantaRed replied to JR15's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think you would regret that. Your stomach will relax after a while and will be able to hold more. My doctor said it would never get as big as before surgery, though. I'm 4.5 years out and can eat half a sub with no room for anything else know eating and drinking). My nut said she would expect me to be able to eat that much (I thought it was a lot). I'm almost through with my preop for revision to bypass. -
Hello Between May 2014 & April 2018 I lost around 145lbs. My doctors are keen to see me lose another 112lb so yes, you could say I had and still have a lot to lose. In the 3 weeks since my revision I have seen weight loss of 18lbs which to me is falling off, I am very happy with the progress. They always told me it was a 2 stage procedure. 4 years ago I was told I would eventually have a DS, but my surgeon back then has since retired and his replacement is not a fan of the DS, in his words it is 'outdated and barbaric' and it was his preference to perform the Bypass on me. I took his advice as the expert. I haven't regretted a single second since. I wish you the best of luck with your procedure

Hi DJB0888 I wanted to ask you....what is your reason for conversion and do you have a lot of weight to lose? I've never really heard anyone say the the weight "falls off of them" after a revision from sleeve to bypass; the weight loss is generally a lot slower. I am asking because I am currently waiting approval for my revision from sleeve to bypass (for severe GERD) but I only have about 10-13 lbs to lose. Actually I am fine at the weight I am but that amount of weight loss is to get to goal. Thanks

I failed the lap band as well and took me so long to come to terms with it I recently had a revision to the sleeve and could not be happier. Please tell your brother. The Band failed for a lot of people tell him there is hope and the band is the failure not him. -
why the revision if you don't mind me asking?

Am I the only one who loves their band?
michellemybelle replied to michellemybelle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Irma, just like you I would let too much time pass between visits. I have had a big enough scare this time that I will make it a point to watch the way I chew, portions and not eating and drinking water with meals. I was lucky this time but I don't want any more surprises for being to lax in going to my dr. I know this last problem of mine could have been avoided. I'm just glad when I had the food pouch and with my band being open for a month I just need to lose about 11 pounds to be in my normal weight again. For years I stood in that weight range. It will take some time and effort but I think I can do it again by the way how does a port flip? What can cause it to flip.? Anyway good luck with you port revision recovery. I hope all goes smoothly for you -
I am having my revision due to GERD

Am I the only one who loves their band?
Irma replied to michellemybelle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am with you on this. I love my band and have had success with it until about two months ago when I noticed I could eat more and was gaining weight. I had not seen my Dr. in years and finally went to see him when I gained 15 lbs and had no restriction. Guess what? My esophagus was stretched and I had created a new pouch in it to hold my food. The Dr. also discovered that my port had flipped. He was able to empty out the port (after several attempts) and wanted to give my esophagus time to relax and go back to normal. Today I had a port revision. I will start the fill process all over again after my incision heals. At least I only have 20 lbs to go instead of the 80 I had when I first had the surgery. I will never go a long period of time without seeing my Dr. again. -
I just got home from my port revision surgery. It was a easy surgery. I am home now and my stomach is very swollen (not sure if this is normal) and I am in a lot of pain. Dr. said he will refill my band in two weeks. Hopefully the swelling will go down soon.

Wed 5/10 will be 4wks post op, slow moving only 13lbs dwn since 4/11, 11lbs from pre-op so 24kbs in 6wks. Getting in all my water is a struggle, I avg 50-60oz, protein avgs 60gr. Still cannot do soft scramble or hard boiled eggs. Beans are my fav for now still. 1/2 small baked sweet potato, no skin or chopped roasted skinless chicken works wells for me. Tried baked organic salmon & it was delish. Ricotta bake was so-so. I returned to work 8 days post op. I’m still exhausted everyday, low energy big time. Again, I’m a revision from 2011 sleeve to mgb. Any other revisions twins out there & how is your progress?

New here, saying Hi
Bryn910 replied to Briswife15's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi & welcome! Hope you gain lots of information from the folks here, I know I have. i am currently VSG revision to RNY in 4 days due to my GERD. Hope this helps in your decision. I too have 100+ lbs. to lose. welcome again!! -
Tanya, did they ever talk to you about just fixing the hernia and not doing the revision to bypass? I am just curious. I don't really want the Nissen procedure, as it is not a guaranteed fix for the GERD and all the crap that comes with it, plus the hernia could reoccur later, and if it did, I'd need to have the bypass anyway.

Super Nervous for revision surgery

I just completed a mini bypass revision: had the sleeve done in 2011. I’m 12 days post-op. Feeling fantastic. Way better than when I had the sleeve. I believe weight loss is a bit slower after revision? Time will tell . Best of luck with your surgery. -

I'm having bypass. I thought about the sleeve but my doctor says alot of people get revisions to the bypass because they don't lose at much.
