Just saw your message, I was banded 3/12 and I am down just about 20 lbs so far. I stopped and hovered between 16-18 for the last week and in the last 2 days lost 4 lbs so I am pretty happy, eating the right stuff is hard, my hubby is on the bandwagon with me here so its a win win situation for us.

Hello,
I am 5 '1, 248 lbs, just got banded 02-24-09. I just wanted to know. I know it's common sense, but I think I just need a little nudge in my behind from someone other than my boyfriend. I lost 10 lbs and have not lose any more for the last 3 weeks now. My first fill is in 2 weeks. I have only been working out about 1-2x a week on my Wii Fit and my boyfriend keeps telling me I have to work out more than that to lose.
Is it true that you lose more once you have your fill? Should I start really kicking ass and working out hard already 4 weeks out? Well 5 weeks on tuesday? Thank you.

hi all, considering going with the band and have questions of course regarding the procedure. I had gastoric surgery 3 years ago and was cut from the bottom of my chest to pass my belly button. I had nine inches of colon removed and stitched back up. all was well until I went back to work and did heavy lifting. I developed 16 hernias and had to be reopened and have fabric placed across my stomach area. I now have gained alot of weight and worry about tearing muscle from my drooping stomach. Does this sound like insurance would pay for this? thanks Dean

Hey my twin!! I'm so sorry to hear that you've stalled in your weightloss, that first fill will get you off that plateau. I don't understand why everyone elses doc's are making ya'll wait so long. Thats way too long to be in bandster hell. I wish you luck though and keep in touch. *Hugs*

Well my updates are as follows...I saw my primary care doc, did my phychological evaluation, saw a nutritionist and pulmonologist all during my 1 hour lunch breaks in 1 week. My surgery is paid and scheduled for May 4th, 2009! I am scared yet happy......this has all been since my last post. But it is much different when they are taking a lump sum of cash than begging your insurance (I wish they would cover at least a portion but they dont)....I am still happyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

I am doing well too! I came home on Saturday and day 3 and 4 were definitely turning points in recovery. Still sore at the port area and feeling gas pains under my shoulder for the first time today so hoping that goes away soon. I was so hungry yesterday so today, I tried some yogurt and a cream soup and boy do I feel so much better. I really needed that. Hope everyone else is doing well!

Anya,
Glad to hear that you are doing good! I returned to work today.. I am EXHAUSTED. I am going home and going straight to bed I think. I am still feeling weak/funny with the whole sugar thing. It will take some time I figure out I think. I went out to lunch today with my co-workers. I had a bowl of potato soup and a baked potato (brought back 3/4 of each!). Called the nurses today too.. they said to follow the paperwork and that they were going to have to talk to Dr. Hitchcock about his food stage info! HaHa. SO next week I am on to soft-solids and meats(or whatever I can handle). I am excited. So your husband won't return until next January? OMG. He will be so happy to see you! He probably won't recognize you! My boyfriend wasn't so supportive. His ex had gastric and left him 4 months later. So he thinks Im going to get skinny and leave him. He'll get over it though! How much have you lost so far from the pre-op? Do you plan on going back to work next Monday?

Oh my goodness...that would scare me to death. I have been pbing a bit lately. In the last two years I have only done it about 6 times but I did it twice in the last week..kinda weird. I hope that nothing is wrong. So...you still think that it's twisted? I wonder how that happened.
I'm fighting a pretty bad cold right now and I hope that it goes away pretty quickly. I have to get it checked out because I think I have a sinus infection or something and I know that you can't have any surgery when you're sick.
Well...I hope that you are doing well and that you don't have any major problems with your tube. Let me know how things are going.

Hey Band_Groupie, how's it going? Just thought I'd check in with you. It's been about a week and a half since my surgery and I'm down about 15 lbs. Wish it could keep coming off that fast but I know it won't. I started walking Saturday and have managed to walk every day so far. Good luck to you and keep us posted!

Hey girl, just thought I'd check in with you to see how it's going. It's been about a week and a half for me and I'm down about 15 lbs. I know I won't keep losing at this rate but as long as I'm losing that's ok with me. I've started walking for the past three days so hopefully that will help too! Good Luck!

Hi Lou,
Yep, at the avenue too. Like you, I'm obsessed with the site and checking out all the before and afters, hoping that I'll be one of them too. Will be starting the shakes on Thursday (2 per day) until 2 weeks before it is time to go in and then I'll move to 3 per day. Haven't started the walking yet but am parking my car further away from my office. Will start the nightly ritual of getting a walk in each evening on Thursday too. Keep in touch.

They just don't make enough room for me to talk! ha ha!
Actually, I tore a stitch doing something really stupid. I was on the couch watching TV and I jumped up to go to the bathroom (my husband and I sometimes race to the bathroom during commerical breaks). When I jumped up and began to run, I felt a terrible pain and stopped in my tracks (yes, I realize how dumb this was!). After that, the pain was getting worse every time I sat down, stood up, got in bed, or hardly even moved. I went to the doc and sure enough, tore a stitch. I have been taking it easy since (no more racing!) and feel really good. I am walking for exercise, but not too brisk just yet. I was told to wait 3 weeks for healing! Yes, it's hard sitting still! But I feel great now and am ready to get going!!! Take care and talk to you soon!! **HUGS**

Hi Sommer! You are doing so good girl! 23 lbs.!!! WHOO HOO!! I am down 17 lbs. as of last week (I weight on Wednesdays only), otherwise I get scale obsession! LOL! So, you got your first fill already! Your doctor must fill every 4-6 weeks. Mine is strictly every 6 weeks. I was told I probably had about 2 cc at the time of surgery. I definitely have some restriction now without my fill, but I am still able to eat about 1/2 as much as used to. I can't wait until my fill and more restriction, as I am excited to start losing more weight! Summer is coming and I am excited about that! I found a whole pile of shorts ranging from size 16 to 12! So, I should be covered this summer with clothes! So, you are only eating 2 meals a day? Is that because you are not hungry or is that all you can get down? I have heard that some people get more restriction around their time of the month...
