Hi everyone, does anyone know how many weeks after surgery i will have to wait before having any non-carbonated alcoholic beverage ???
-
Ok, so, I know that alcohol can irritate the stomach, and is full of calories, but that aside, I'm sure lots of people still drink with the band. Right? I'm not talking a glass of wine or 2 at dinner... but you know, going out to a party/pub/bar or wherever you do your recreational drinking, and actually getting drunk... purposely. If someone were to do this, to the point of feeling nauseous... is there anything that can be done? What about a bad hangover with the potential for puking? Probably just some Gravol, right? I'm not a huge drinker, and I actually haven't had a drink in months, but I know that it's gonna happen again (and I'm looking forward to it!), so I just want to be prepared so that if I drink too much, and start feeling sick, I know what kind of things might help. Thanks guys, Mandi

Seven weeks until my surgery...so may questions. I enjoy a glass of wine occasionally, say 1 or 2 glasses a month. Is drinking alcohol any different post banding?

Do any of you drink wine or anything else? I am still on mushies right now, but when I start on solids, I would eventually love to have a glass (or a few sips!) of wine. Can we tolerate it? You know, to an extent?

It's a funny thing! So I learned last night that the 6 weeks of not drinking before and after my surgery apparently brought my tolerance DOWN! I was toast after 1 1/2 drinks - I mean you would not have wanted to be in public with me! Next time I go out I'll try 1/2 a drink at tops!

I am sure my relationship with beer will change as I won’t quite have the space to put away much of the substance and that is okay. I already cut my consumption way back the last time I started packing on more pounds. I just couldn’t afford the calories. I wonder though, since beer feels so giant in your stomach will I be able to have it once I am in the groove with my band? One beer? Two beers? I figured a glass of wine would still be safe, but beer had me perplexed? Anyone out there have experience here? Thanks!

I have two weeks till my band is put in. I am on a low carb diet to shrink my liver (my surgeon's standard diet...nothing in particular wrong with my liver) We are already obligated to a cocktail party this weekend. I know I could just drink Water or diet soda, but...LOL I know that alcohol is empty calories and not ideal for weight loss....but will one or two low carb drinks (say rum & diet coke which is OK for low carb such as Adtkins) affect my liver in any negative way? I will call and ask my doctor if I have to. Was hoping to get input here though. Just hate to sound like a lush...LOL! Nita

Ok, so I thought I found the perfect sugar free snack, SnackWell's fudge brownies...I get them home and go to eat one thinking, lets see how good these are, and I take a bite and find, wow not bad. Then I read the box again, and see that indeed it had 0g of sugar, but 9g of Sugar Alcohol??? What is this??? Is it good for you, do you need to count it??? If anybody out there knows what this is can you please, please let me know. Thank you in advanced for your time.. :nervous Tara

I am in the process of having the lap band procedure done and I had a question. Once or twice a month I like to go out with my friends and have a beer or two. I know the beer has cabination in it so I was wondering if a fruit juice with a liquor would be okay to have (Malibu rum and pineapple, screwdriver)? I am aware that the liquor has high sugar in it, but if I do it in moderations will it be okay. Has anybody tried this?

I was banded 2 1/2 weeks ago, and sure wouldn't mind having a cocktail or two. Can this hurt the band? What are some of your experiences with being banded and drinking? I would be sticking to the liquid diet!
