They fed you in the hospital? Real food? The day after surgery, i was given 1 oz of strawberry Protein shake. Thats it. And water. had to be on a liquid diet for 4 weeks. Thought I would eat my arm AND my leg! U definitely need to look at your post op directions a little more thoroughly. I've never heard of anyone having a regular diet right after surgery. So i just saw my md for my 4 month post op check, he told me i have to eat what ever i can in 15 min and thats it then eat again in 4 hrs. Bc stomachs do stretch anyone else heard that Sent from my DROID4 using RNYTalk

I am lucky I guess. I have been working with my Dr. for losing weight for a long time. I finally said F-IT and went to see the WLS Dr. Mid Sept because I was fed up! I had all my appointments done within two weeks. I had to wait 2 more weeks (about) for my Insurance to say okay. So I only had one month from deciding I wanted this surgery to Approval. I think that is one reason I am a bit freaked out. I had done my 6 months of dieting before I even thought about WLS. they are saying that the surgery is about 3 weeks out. -
I was sleeved 8/21. I pretty much stalled right away. Was 218 surgery day and am 212 now. However, i lost 30+ pre-op and am currently losing inches. (The reflection in the mirror is so sad...everything is deflating. My ass is going to drop to my ankles!) I'm 51 and I'm sure my body is just refusing to let go of the pounds i've been carrying around forever. I weigh myself once a week although this week it will be 2x bcs i go for my 2 month postop visit to the surgeon and nutritionist.

TY. My surgeon told me that hairloss is inevitable, which is y I started the AA thread bc on the other forums, a lot of Caucasians are sayn hairloss happened to them all. The few Latinos I read had no hl, which is y I asked any of us had we had any problems postop. And it doesnt seem to b as big of an issue for us, at least I've not read much. He said biotin wudn work. Idk if its bc of his experience w more Caucasian people telling him that or what. Idk, just speculating. But as I've read their post, some use biotin nd day that it helps w regrowth, not stoppage but to make sure ms take ur vitamins nd mostly get allll of ur daily allowed protein. So gl to us all;)) -

Kind of the whole reason I didn't tell anyone I was banded!! Didn't need any of that bs! These people drive me nuts! The first person I thought I could tell started the conversation out with...I am so happy you didn't do what those wacked out crazy axx people do that get cut up do! So from then on I was convinced that just my husband and my parents (besides my doctors) needed to know!!! -
I have BCBS-Fed n Ca and I was approved on the first try!!! It took only 3days for them to approve me with a BMI of 41.7

I can also work my stomach and get the stuck item out, I dont mean to sound negative, I guess I am, my only issue is i wish someone had been honest with me before surgery, I read and read and read , talked to my doctor and I was told, "sliming from getting stuck rarely happens"....BS!!!! I just feel like I was cheated on facts, whatever you choose you have the knowledge you need

I would ask your nut about this bc my plan includes everything from liquids to purees. I can't imagine what would be wrong with sugar free jello . I can't eat it but I can make my own with plain gellitain , stevia and true lime or lemon!! I haven't tried to yet but plan to! Anyways, if you love jello and it's not on the menu, definitely ask! -

I was on Coumadin for a month with the last blood clot. Aspirin for the rest of my life. I was taken off if hormonal BC and I'm never allowed to take estrogen for anything ever again. And if I ever decide to get pregnant I'll be high risk. -
High fructose corn syrup is MUCH sweeter than sugar and that is no accident. It also creates more craving for more corn syrup. Of the 2 poisons, sugar is the lesser of evils. Read your ingredient labels before you feel weak. At least you will have a slight head start. The american public did not request that food manufacturers add large quantities of high fructose corn syrup to so many of our foods. And when I think of it this way I get angry enough to avoid corn syrup just on the principle of the thing. Remember back to when the tobacco industry conspired against the public saying cigarettes were not ADDICTING? I hope one day corn syrup will exposed as a way the public has been manipulated for food industry profit. Sorry for the soap box. I too am a sugar addict. A private theory of mine is that if someone suffers from a candida yeast overgrowth, the yeast cry out to be fed sugar. And every other day I find myself back slipping back to sugar and feel temporary relief. On other boards, I notice some people's cravings are lessened by taking L-Glutamine and Selenium.

Do You Ever Feel Like Ripping Someone's Head Off and Throwing at Them

Sometimes I just want to scream, and cry, and kill my ex. He and I have always been friends, and we dated for a long time. Now he has started being sooooooo stupid that I broke up with him a little over a month ago, and he is driving me nuts. I used to have a friend and he used to be friends with her too, well he didnt like her anymore, but she was okay with me. I heard both of them talk so much bs about one another I was sick of it. All of a sudden the weekend that my RECENTLY widowed gma got married, I was emotional distressed and still dating him, well he took my friend to a club to go have fun and dance and stuff and told me I was not invited, and she (claiming to be a "friend") never asked once "would Jodie like to come?" NO! Everytime I am friends with this girl, she takes what I have, my clothes, aspirations, dreams, and men. I LOVE this guy (I know teen love, all the same tho), we were going to go to college together and get an apartment and everything, but ever since I was supposed to have this surgery, he has been proud of me, but pulling away too. Like he always brags about these girls being his friend and wanting him to go to parties with him and stuff. I know he's trying to make me jealous, but it just makes me feel like crap because I can't be that for him. Lately (last 3 weeks) he has went crazy wanting to party, but not invite me to go, and hang out with my ex-friend. I wish I could have an hour to beat the mess outta her! Anyways, I am gonna go crazy because this guy has lost his mind!?!?!? -

Congrats ......Im still in the beginning process of this whole thing and this process seems to take foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I know you must be excited to actually have a date set. Im trying to eat healthier too just so I can start preparing myself bc I have a big fear that im still going to crave the same foods. So keep up the good work so I can stay inspired.

I use the unflavored isopure. Early out I put it in oatmeal and soups. Now I mix it with a vegan protein shake I like bc it isn't as high on protein as I like.

Taking measurements is an awesome way to track. I am waiting on insurance approval but started back at the gym 2 months ago.. had someone take my measurements Jan 23... had them taken again March 24 I had lost 2.5 in in my chest 1.5 in my waist and 2.25 in my hips which i was thrilled about bc the scale had only gone down about 8 lbs... So definatly track in more than one way... pics, measurements, etc... You are doing wonderful 20 Lbs is a big deal! keep it up

Not only did I spend months, not Weeks, stalking this site before I became a member, I also directly messaged no less than 10 of each Drs past patients BC I wanted 1st hand answers to my questions. Then I flat out asked Almanza's coordinator,I believe her name is Louise, who confirmed every single thing I just posted. So I guess Ur right. I don't know 1st hand. And I won't either BC those situations are not something I want to deal with. ME, personally. I'm thankful and happy that you were ok with it and had an amazing experience. Kudos to u. So many people say "well what do u expect for that kinda money"or "what do u expect your going to Mexico"... What I expect is the same or better care and situations that I'd have in the USA. No less. -
Right now is what people like to call "bandster hell" which is when you have healed from surgery, swelling has gone down and you have little to no restriction from your band. I had the same thing and right now is all based on your own will power.....you have to stop thinking I can eat like I did and keep the pre op/post op diet fresh in your mind....I can only eat this much and stop yourself. Don't let the "I can eat again food monster invade your thoughts" bc he will and I think that monster is the cause of a lot of post op weight gain. My loss since surgery has been SLOOOOOOWWW and I just had my first fill Friday. Are you scheduled for your first fill?

Hi, I've yet to be sleeved, still jumping through hoops:/ congrats to all who have been nd gl to those still waiting. My question...has any1 had problems with hair loss? Ive read many forums and people are freaking out about major hair loss. A lady asked in one of the forums and they told her to go to the African American forum and ask. So I went there to get an answer as well for myself. But only one person answered, I guess bc it was asked in a general title of over a thousand posts. So I started this one. Any post ops willing to answer? I'd greatly appreciate it:)) Dee Dee

They submitted my file on Tuesday the 22nd and I heard back from my surgeon's office yesterday. My BMI was under 40, so I think thats why it took as long as it did. I've heard that others with BCBS-Fed hear back in 3 days, but like I said, I think its maybe because my BMI was under 40 and they had to review all the other tests/info. Good luck to you. Keep me posted!
