I did not have to go through any pre op diet other than nothing by mouth 12 hours before the surgery. I had my surgery 12 weeks ago at a center of excellence.

Yes it is I am 2 weeks post op I have a cup of cafe latte skinny from Starbucks and I specifically asked my surgeon as well as nut they both said no problem the reason some people drink decaf is because of acidity if u don't have that issue you should go ahead and enjoy a nice cup. So I'm 4 weeks post op and I think I've hit my first stall. Well I think I have...I really don't know?!? I'm down 40lbs since surgery. I've been following my plan and have not lost a single pound this week. Thankfully, I have not gained any but???????????? has anyone else experienced this so early in your WLJ?!?

Worried About My Daughter
AKSleever replied to AKSleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The school lunch is a free program for us! And usually she will have it only once a week! But I got some great ideas, and before surgery I got rid of all junk food in the house! Thank you for the great ideAs! I would never let her know this is a concern that's why I used the forum! I remember being told how fat I was by my grAndparents! I always tell her how beautiful she is! Now I just need ways to motivate her to exercise, cuz she's not really into it! -
So my husband and I both got banded about 5 weeks ago. Pre-surgery to say I had a strong sex drive would be putting it mildly. However, since surgery I just don't really care so much. Has anyone else experienced this? Are my hormones out of whack from the sudden weightloss?

Hello all I am really concerned with my lower extremity edema-right leg/ankle is worse than left. I began Kaiser classes in June 21. The first week I lost 2lbs. Two weeks later I was back 315;the original weight. July 12 weigh-in was a 10lb lost. A week later was a 12lb gain, which puts me at 317. I weigh in again on Monday, so hopefully that digital scale won't fail me. Let me say with doing a food log every day and turning in all logs and weigh-ins, how many minutes I walk a day is wonderful, because it helps. the instructor looked over my food log and mentioned that everything looks good. just go to zero calorie sodas if I have to have one. and my weakness for Pita chips from FreshNEasy. But this darn edema is killing me on weigh-in dates. My doc prescribed Lasix and K-tabs and to drink tonic Water before bed to help with leg cramps. I walk everyday with my co-workers and with hubby on weekends. i feel totally lighter the way I walk and the feel of my clothes. These ankles had me literally crying in class last week. now I have to count on diuretics to help keep water weight off. Are there any members here who have or had this problem?

Wow, it's been a long time since I've been on here. I'm 3 months post op and feeling great. I have my appointment tomorrow. I'm realizing I can pretty much eat anything I want, but I am dying for a salad!!! I don't know why, but salad and roughage scare me. They are off limits for now, but so are many other things I eat. I probably shouldn't eat anything I want, and I'm surprised at how well my stomach handles things. Since I started this journey a year ago with my first (of many) pre-op appointments, I've lost 70 pounds. I lost 35 before surgery and 35 since surgery. I'm loving shopping for new clothes (although spending way too much money), and I love having more energy. I should be happy, but my weight loss has slowed down tremendously! I'm used to seeing the scale drop almost every day, and now a week or two will go by without one pound dropping off. Am I done? This seems to have happened so fast!!! Was my weight melting off that quick and now I'm stuck? Am I just stalling? Hope you are all enjoying the holidays and are having success in eating at all the get togethers.

I just got back from 2 weeks in Paris, where I felt like the most enormous and dumpy thing on the street for wearing too big loose-fit boot cut jeans nearly every day. So before I even left for home I ordered two styles of skinny Levis from Amazon, which were just delivered. And guess whose fat ass fits into a size 12 skinny jeans? Yup. ME! I'm still bigger than all the size 0 Parisians I saw but at least I'm fashionable.

what to bring to hospital
Fixerupper replied to ********'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Someone suggested an eye mask and earplugs so we might actually get some rest in the noisy hospital. I will be there three days so I bought some -
Hi, thanks for the reply, it always helps to talk to someone.....I can honestly say that I was not hungry the first month. I had a fill on June 25 Just 1 cc and I am feeling a little hungry towards the end of the day and I also notice the Slim fast does'nt seem to hold me as long. I go back for another fill on the 25th of this month. I have only lost 2 lbs this week so I guess it will slow down. hey listen 10lbs is nothing to sneeze at.....as long as we are going in right direction hooray for us!!!! I have the same size band as yours. The fills are not bad at all. mine felt no worse than a mosquito bite....Gooooood luck and keep in touch..BEV

How long can I expect my hair to keep falling out for? I am almost 4 months post op and my hair is falling out for the past couple of weeks. I am lucky I suppose as I had thick long hair but it is now beginning to look a lot thinner but I am worried about how much more I can expect to loose.

I am so sorry for all the struggles you are dealing with. To be honest, it all just sucks!. Hopefully things will turn around for you soon. I pray that you don't get too discouraged at the beginning of your lapband journey due to all the changes and stress. I know the first week after surgery, I questioned my actions.... a lot. Now I do not regret or question it at all. With all the hormone changes from the recent hysterectomy and the meds and stress on your body from the upcoming surgery remember to take time for yourself. Hang in there, I wish you the best!

juliegeraci replied to gg2007BandSTAR's topic in The Gals' Room
I would make your appointment with the dentist today and just ride it out. Advil is good and a vicodin or 2 will not hurt. Good luck this week. -
Had the Lapband in September 2008 lost 185lbs over the next 2 years. In oct of 2012 Lapband was removed because it was tearing into my stomach. I lost 8 pints of blood and spent almost 3 weeks in the hospital. Now I have to live without it and its really hard. I'm only up 8lbs from my "normal weight" but I'm starting to slip in old habitats.

I know this has brought up before, but I'm doing again. I had my surgery on April 17, 2018. Maybe 4 days later I started my period, I'm on the pill and was only half way through my pack. Yes, I missed 1 or 2 because of the hospital and the night home but really? My period lasted WELL into May, I think I had it maybe 3 weeks? I should say I'm 38 and my tubes are tied I'm only on the pill because weird crap like this happened before but periods were like 6 weeks 2 weeks off then back on, tested for early menopause nope, so that's why the birth control and it's been good for year and a half. JUST had my period around June 7-10, now it's kinda back like you had it in middle school! Brown and gross! Wtf?; That's not even a month?! I am consistent, and compliant. She'll look up in the books. Anyone have this deal? Ugh, very annoyed!
-
I'm 3 weeks post op and yes I took my birth control with me and took it there. They never said anything to me about my pills being less effective after surgery if I got preg right now I would be pretty upset, being preg and trying to lose weight don't go we'll together plus I don't wanna deplete a child of nutrition cuz I'm unable to absorb food.

Stomach pains
Isabelmonster replied to Isabelmonster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did on Friday he said protein shakes and some acid reflux medicine. He said if it continues through the week then he will send me to the hospital to get some lab work and stuff done. I do have to be persistent but I’m also scared of like hospitals at the moment but if it has to get done it has to get done! 👍🏻 -
I could drink water right after surgery. In my docs office this is the norm. With a new stomach I feel we all cautious at first . Over time you will drink more and more. After a couple of weeks I could chug water to a certain extent. You will also find your diebets will receed fast. Get ready and hold on tight its a crazy ride at times but worth it.

A few weeks before surgery I had to remove my nuva ring and I ended up getting my period twice in a month. I havent gotten my period yet and I'm 6 days late - so naturally I'm freaking out!! Hubby and I have been extremely safe- actually using condoms - something we haven't done in God knows how long !! Lol - I'm just freaking and needed to vent !
