**** edited to include some pics! Hi there friends! I hope this post finds you well. Last time I posted I showed a pic of me in that gorgeous Alfred Angelo size 8 wedding dress. Sigh. I couldn't afford that dress. BUT I ENDED UP WITH SOMETHING BETTER!!!! hehe Here is our wedding fusion video PREVIEW! (make sure to play the sound with it!!) I can't believe this is only a sample of the one we will receive.. it's awesome!!! Standard pics can be viewed on my photog's website. Barb is amazing! All photos are courtesy of Y Studio Photography up close details union square photo shoot Papparazzi! I felt like a movie star To date, I have lost 95 lbs, which just absolutely blows my mind. Seriously... holy guac! I am down to a size 8 or 10 depending. Also, we leave for our honeymoon on Monday and we will be headed to Hawaii! This is the first time in about 12 years that I will be comfortable wearing a bikini. I have some yucky skin, but nothing too crazy. I bought a "mom bikini" and my husband told me he liked the skimpy one better! I was shocked bc I figured more coverage was better. I wrote a blog post today with pics from my day of surgery v. me now.... if you are interested, please feel free to check it out! I had a lot of fun writing it My Long Sleeved Story xoxo

To those with young children...
workingmotherofthree replied to elli'smommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have three children and I explained it to each of them and let them ask me any questions they wanted. Their ages are 10, 8 and 5. Honestly I spoke to them on the phone but they are very supportive and we gave them each jobs to do while their grandmother, my mother, was here from out of state when I was in the hospital. All three I them helped me for several weeks after surgery and know what I can and can't have. My son who is almost 11 now actually orders a Side with his dinner for me to eat so that I am able to eat out with them. They all give me a piece of something but are very caring because I walked through everything with them. My surgery was 1-23-2013 and they were in school so I didn't keep them with me. Good luck. I find being open with them is good so when you say No thanks I don't want that they completely understand. We also explained to them that they don't need to broadcast it to everyone as its a family matter and they are really good about it. -
No weightloss in one month
20zmom replied to amartyn1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just posted a similar topic just about an hour ago. I was banded 10/15/09 and seem to be stuck at a 36 lb. loss. I am eating healthy and working out at least 3 days a week. I understand about muscle being more dense that fat, I understand about weight loss plateaus, and I understand the band is just a tool, but my "inner child" is frustrated because the scale isn't moving. I understand your frustration completely. We just need to understnad that this too shall pass. Let's agree to not weigh more than once a week? Deal????? Maybe that will help out mental outlook enough to get us over the hump. -
Just approved but not excited anymore
SunnySkip replied to Fiskgyrl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on your place two weeks ago. My main goal for the surgery is to get healthy. Had the surgery 6/4/2018. Rough first week but feeling better each day. Pain is gone. Everything functioning well. No hunger. Weight dropping like crazy. So happy with my decision. It is a life changing decision but with this decision I am off diabetic meds and blood pressure meds and it's not even 2 weeks. Would do it again. Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app -
POST SURGERY - FEBRUARY SLEEVERS
TimJones replied to Slightly86's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my surgery on February 14th 2017 and in six weeks I'm down 78 pounds. I too had a 10 day stall in weight loss but it has started back. I'm eating between 700-1000 calories a day. I'm walking 10000-15000 steps most days. I started last week going to the gym working with a trainer once a week to help with muscle toning and building plus trying to keep from having a huge skin removal surgery. I know I'm going to have to get some kind of skin removal surgery but I hope to reduce the amount of skin removed. If I can! -
Pittsburgh Shrinking Woman--My Journey Begins!
MistyLyn posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi. I'm new here to the forum and wanted to jump in and introduce myself! Im a 52 year old fluffy gal from Just south of Pittsburgh. My surgery was Feb. 5, 2015--lap RNY. This past week has certainly been a learning curve for me. I'm not sure exactly what I expected ( which, incidentally, I think would be a great thing for those awaiting surgery--to actually WRITE what they expect week 1), but it wasn't this! The surgery itself wasn't awful. I think the worst pain is from a hernia my surgeon fixed while he was in there. The part that I wasn't anticipating was AFTER the surgery. See, my drs. office has been amazing. The girls in the office have cheered me through the six months (10 months in my case, but that's another story) prep period and been right behind me. In the hospital, however, when I woke I felt like I'd been thrown to the wolves. Suddenly, full trays of food appeared at my beside (am I supposed to EAT that or photograph it for future reference?); the compression apparatus on my legs was at once vaguely titillating and cutting off my circulation; my IV kept setting off an alarm that would just miraculously stop (am I dying? Have they just given up on me?); my foley was....well, doing what a foley does; I knew I needed to walk, but the call button for the nurse was about three inches from my stretched fingertips (while the Salisbury steak was inches from my nose). I was...alone. I guess at that point I wanted coddled a bit (not that I'm spoiled or anything), but a "poor dear, what can I do?" would have been more than enough. At any rate, that is just the start of my already too long introduction. This week has included numerous calls to the dr; a high-drama trip to the local ER; and more meds than Carter had liver pills (what? I'm old!). So...if I haven't lost you yet, I hope to become a part of this community--even if you only let me sit outside with my ear to the door. Although--it's like -10 here today! -
I had one. It's really nothing to worry about. They put you under and it lasts like 10 minutes. I was home in under 2 hours. No pain.

My doctor suggested the sleeve last december. My husband, nor anyone in my family or closest friends were on board with me, so I discarded the idea. Then in July, with more health issues creeping up on me, I decided to do it. I told my husband exactly that. He then was on board. I made him go with me to my Drs appts. The DR flat out told him that it would add 10 - 15 years to my life. From that point on, my husband has been such a dear, helping me 100% Good Luck....you have to take care of yourself first - only you can do that!!!

I’m curious, why no gummies? I’ve been using calcium gummies to supplement a multi vitamin and I suck on them for about 10 min until they dissolve in my mouth. I didn’t know that I wasn’t supposed to take gummies and don’t understand the downside but have heard no gummies a few times in this thread.

Nexium, Prevacid, Prilosec, other? Are you taking anything post-surgery?
Oregondaisy replied to youknowit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take the generic of Protonix. It's a tiny little pill. I have tried to go off of it and it's no fun.I was on it before surgery, so I see no reason to go off of it now. My co-pay for all generic medications is $10. My pcp prescribes it to take twice a day, but I only take it once a day, so I get 60 for $10. -
Anyone know a good Dr in Westchester, NY?
leepizz replied to lapbandbarb's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi, I was banded on 6/3 by Dr. Tom Cerabona from Westchester Medical Center. He is he chief of Bariatric Surgery. He was wonderful. His office is right in the medical building near the Medical Center. His office staff treats you like you are VIP. Every 2 weeks there is a support group you can attend at 6pm for $10. There is one this Thursday. Dr. Cerabona also did my 16 1/2 yr old daughter on 7/8. We are both doing this journey together. When you find out how to change your ticker please let me know. I am getting very fustrated. Maybe I will see you at a support group. Lisa -
I have a story similar to most on here.. at age 6 I started gaining weight rapidly... I was adopted so my adoptive parents couldn't exactly figure out why. At the time, all I knew was that my birth mother had thyroid conditions. I've been tested over and over again for that, and nothing was found. Now I know my birth father, in fact live with him here in San Antonio texas. He's 400lbs, but that's after losing 100lbs. His family also has a history of being overweight. My whole life I have felt trapped. like my personality didn't match my body. At 8 years old I weighed in at 180lbs... at 10, 200lbs, at 13, 270lbs, then at 16 I was 320, lost down to 269 on the atkins diet, and then the next year at 17 in college went back up to 300lbs, and now I weigh 340lbs at 20 years old.. I'm 5'7 and look very proportionate. This weight has caused MANY years of pain because I can't even do simple things girls my age enjoy... like wearing heels or going to amusment parks. I'm at the point of desperation. I work at citibank and the insurance here is wonderful, the surgery is almost fully covered, and lots of my coworkers have gotten it. I am more than ready. My seminar is scheduled for January 26th going under the company of "New Dimensions" formerly "Weight Wise." I'm amazingly excited, and scared. More scared that for some reason it won't happen. I really need a support system, I guess at this time, because I feel this is my only chance, or really second chance at life. Please keep in touch! Write back on here, or here is my myspace link: MySpace.com - Gabrielle - 19 - Female - San Antonio, Texas - www.myspace.com/gabriellewilliams thank you and God bless you! sincerly, Gabrielle

YEAH! Onederland Today!
carolyn24seven replied to Ky.hen's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Helen, White castles are a very small hamburger or cheeze burger. The buns are like a dinner roll. Very soft white bread. The meat patties are square like a large postage stamp. they put chopped onions, grilled if you want on and that is it. No sauces of any kind. there are little packets of ketchup and pickles and mayo you can add your own. The whole thing is steam cooked. All very soft and wonderful. Horrible for you I am sure! It is a chain of fast food places in the Mid west and Eastern part of the US. I do not thave them in California. I have relatives in Michigan. Hence my knowledge. White castles were the cure for a hangover when I was of that inclination. We can get them here frozen from costco, but, they are NOT the same. All the restruants out here are making "sliders" little tiny hamburgers, but, really good ingredients. Excellant for sleevers. Only, three of us need to go eat one plate of them. hahaha. It's all good. Ky-Hen: congrats to you! I will be joining you by Christmas. (I am a"teener" today~218~) missed 19! Happy happy happy us. -
Halfway to goal, and only 10 more pounds until I am in a normal weight range for my height!

I'd do the landscaping. last time before my huge bowel resection, I got ny hair done, my toenails done, a new set of acrylic nails - french tips because they had to be clear, lol, legs, underarms waxed and a brazillian as well. Ok, so I knew my bits were going to be seen - they were going to be up my rear end and also used my caesar scar again and I didnt want to deal with the hatchet razor job they usually do - a good wax means the hair wont be growing back a day later when that dressing is on - I'll never ever make that mistake again after having to rip off a huge dressing after a caesaren with grown back pubes - OUCH. Plus mine have gone white, lol, and very patchy since I had the pelvic radiation last year - it all fell out and that's how it grew back. I'm more embarrassed about having the nether regions of an 80 year old than I am about being as bare as a 10 year old. Anyhow, I think going in to have an op, being in hospital for a few days, being a bit insecure about being looked at when you're anaesthetised and on the table, if it makes you feel better then get the works done. I like to go in feeling good - people are goning to be touching me, looking at my incisions, checking things out, and you have visitors too - I dont think its silly to have a day of grooming so that you're feeling tip top. I know nobody's looking and judging but its not really about that, its just about feeling good about yourself.

19 pounds in 5 days!!!
samomom replied to anatomycat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You probably lost a lot of Fluid even if you are properly hydrated. It would be impossible to lose 19 pounds of fat in 5 days! That is 66,500 calories burned. I lost 10 in the first 7 days, but I also knew that it was mostly Water. I then went 5 weeks and only lost 3 1/2 pounds. Now I am losing a bunch rapidly and it is fat because my pants are falling off my butt. You will lose in waves so don't get frustrated if you don't see consistant weight loss. It will happen! Keep up the good work. -
