  1. Thank you so much. How much should I be losing by week 7? I lost 29.9 pounds so far since surgery
  2. Today is my six week mark— I have officially lost half of the weight i need to lose to get me to a healthier weight— 12 lbs pre op, the rest since surgery date of 3/3. I am really pleased with my progress so far, still focusing on fluids and protein, and trying to cut down to one protein shake a day vs two. Feeling good and enjoying shopping my closet and resisting buying anything new— goal is to get to 158 be end of April, and 148 by end of May. Fingers crossed the trend continues! Black tee is a day or two before surgery, white tee is today.
  3. I had my first bypass in November 2019. I did the dieting for 6 mos pre op and lost 50lb. Then I Lost another 18 during 2 week liquid diet. I started at 365. I assume everyone get lots of liquids pushed IV while at the hospital. When they weighed me after surgery I had gained 14 lbs. I’m freaking out going what did you do to me. Thank goodness my Doctor and nurses were great. Calmed me down quickly explaining why the gain. This week I had to have revision surgery as my pouch staples came undone. I didn’t lose near what I needed. Or thought I should of, but am reminding myself that it is a journey. I got a 2nd chance to finish what I started. Love yourself for being brave enough to take this step. I’m 250 now.
  4. Hi all, I am week 2 into my full liquid diet. I am feeling hungry almost every 1 or 1.5 hour. I can eat yogurt or drink a protein shake in 30-40 minutes, but sometimes still hungry. I’m averaging 72g of protein this week. I’m not sure if I’m having fathom hunger or I need to sip/eat more often. someone please help ease my mind.
  5. 3 weeks post op. I don't remember ever getting car sick before. Today I left right after eating and got sick waiting to pick up my grocery order and again at a red light on the way back. My car idles rough. Has this happened to anyone else and does it go away? I know, in the future wait a bit before getting in the car, but I have a long trip coming up in June and I'll be eating in the car or driving all night.
  6. Sleeved 01/06/2023 and as of today I'm 200 lbs even. I'm supppppper close to ONEderland! I eat between 800-1200 calories a day (usually about 1000 calories a day). I attend aqua aerobics 1x a week and try to walk at least 5 days a week. With a desk job, I have to make a conscious effort to move because I sit so much. Overall I feel great, I still deal with fatigue but I'm anemic so that's to be expected... and still less tired then I was pre-surgery. My post-op bloodwork all came back great (with the exception of my iron which has always been an issue). Type-2 diabetes in remission. 5'5 SW 265 LBS, CW 200 LBS, GW 150 LBS

    frustrated, stalled, and lost

I was stalled for a solid 2 months, I ate carbs for a weekend... then hit the gym hard and I am back on track. Its the worst when you feel like you are doing everything you can and you see no movement, but you will. Also, try doing band workouts from a chair, they are great and really work.
  8. hello - I have been stalled since 3/23. My dietician wants me to up my calories. I am currently getting between 800-100 and she wants me at 1200-1500 a day. I have no idea how to add in another 300+/- calories that are not junk food. I eat 5x a day, plus one shake. I keep my carbs under 75 a day (under 20 per meal), fat under 60 (under 10 per meal), and sugar less than 25 for whole day, and avoid unneeded sugar (eg, sugar in milk or yogurt okay, but not sugar in skittles) I also get well over 100 g of protien a day. I am not working out because I am having positional lightheadedness, where my vision whites out when I go from sitting to standing randomly. I am getting 80+ ounces of fluid a day. yesterdays food: pure protien bar protien shake greek yogurt tuna (bumble bee quick catch, had tuna and pasta) a fake sushi roll (avocado carrots butter lettuce crab meat and lobster chucks wrapped in a rice paper) grilled ribs without sauce + lima beans. todays meal plan: quest cheddar crisps protien shake yogurt legendary pop tart artisan traders 2 egg omlet cups ribs and lima beans my restriction is still super strong, and i can barely get half a cup in per meal/. 6 months out from surgery. bouncing between 184-188 since 3/23

    One Year Post Op

I'm 8 weeks out and I'm still not focused at all calories. Just protein and water. My program said nothing of counting calories
  10. I’m on second week of liquids only. Pre liquid diet I lost 15lbs with some changes my dietician said would be beneficial. But am down a total of 21 lbs in two months. My surgery is April 20th. Excited and nervous at the same time
  11. I had my surgery on 2/22/23 as well. I’m stuck at 29 lbs weight loss. I had a stall at 3 weeks and another stall at 6 weeks. It seems like I’m having stalls every 3 weeks. I’m starting to feel a little frustrated. I was considering trying to do the liquid diet for the next week to see what happens

    Any April Surgery Dates?

Same day, same feeling! Although I'm also stressed about this liquid diet and not losing enough weight pre-op - I need to step away from the scale, as it only shows 2 lbs lost in a week. I was hoping to lose 10 in pre-op stage.

Mine was 3 weeks and I lost an amazing 15 pounds

    Calories 1 year post op

My weight loss is slow now. I am trying to expand my menu so lots of different foods with different calorific values. So it may be up and down on any given day but my average is about 1300 this week.
  15. Hello and welcome. You do sound as if you have this sorted. You have to do a week more than me, Cruelty overload. It will fly by though. I did a lot of house cleaning and it was useful because I was so busy after fitting in my water and protein into the new days. Onwards and downwards
  16. How is your calorie intake looking? I can't imagine you're able to eat too much early on but are you eating calorie dense foods? But this is most likley a stall. You absolutely want to stick to your plan from here on out as you will break it as long as you're staying commited. Remember, calories in, calories out will ALWAYS be true! & no, you did not ruin your surgery! A few off days will not cause you to stop losing forever. Just get back on track & take advantage of this honeymoon stage. Stay consistent!

    7 weeks post op

Oh yes, my longest stall was nearly 4 weeks & it happened early on in my journey. Its very much normal!
  18. I'm also 3 weeks out today and stalled on the first day of Phase 3 on day 17 after losing a total of 7.2lbs since surgery. I hope I'm lucky and it ends as quickly as yours. Reading your post and the support you got is helping.

    New here!

I think you’re doing okay too. As for the exhaustion & lack of energy remember you’ve just had pretty major surgery. Imagine a 12 inch deep wound on your arm or leg & all the sutures & staples holding it together. Consider how you’d treat that wound gently & give it time to fully heal before doing too much. It’s the sane with this surgery. It’s going to take time to heal & your body is going to be putting energy into your healing & recovery. Listen to your body. If you have little energy or feel tired rest & take it easy. Pushing yourself too much may slow your recovery. We all recover in our own time. Some are back at work after a week. I took four weeks & then started a part time contract. I needed all those four weeks & more but I always seem to take longer to recover & heal from everything so it was expected. Maybe give your work a call & see if you can initially come back on reduced hours until you’re stronger.

    Elevated heart rate?

Yes, my resting heart rate went up at least 10 bpm the week or so after surgery and my Garmin watch showed I was highly stressed. But with the exception of a bad 24 hour stretch I had a good recovery and wasn't really in pain. Just my body doing its thing I guess. It's lower now at 5 weeks post-op than it was before surgery.
  21. I had a hard time too after RNY and hernia repair. My team just had me focus on water and jello the first two weeks and do the protein shake as much as possible but don’t worry about it. Staying hydrated was their main concern. Early on, the protein shakes count as liquid too! Warm chicken bone broth was very comforting and a nice savory flavor. I put decaffeinated coffee in my chocolate shake to warm it and feel more normal in the morning.

    Food FOMO

I honestly had a good round of food funerals so when my pre-op diet started, I was more or less ready for it. 😂 Something that helped me is knowing that nothing is permanently off limits. Sure, the first couple months requires specific eating to help the stomach heal, but after that anything goes so long as you can keep it down. This is where the mental stuff comes in. Just because you can have it doesn’t mean you should or that it will help you achieve your goals. Im 4 weeks post op VSG today and my physical hunger is back. It’s not as crazy as it was, but I do feel hungry about 2x a day. It usually happens right when I’m due to eat. I envy people that never feel hungry again, but I’m learning what real hunger feels like vs mental and I’m thankful it’s not like it was (I’d get the shakes and feel like I was going to pass out). Good luck!! The days fly by and before you know it, you’ll be here on the other side 🌈

    New here!

Hello and welcome. You are very wise not to weigh yourself everyday. The rate of weight lost is so stop start and stop again. If you have to go back to work then rest as much as you can around the work times. Snooze if you can, whenever you can. Leave the housework until next month, ignore it. Your first week back will be hard. Pack lots of little snack packs and lots of drinks.

    7 weeks post op

Stalls happen. I would stall out for 2-4 weeks. Since Nov, I've only lost 4 pounds (but I'm on steroids, so lucky to lose any!) Just stick with the program and like someone said, trust the process. Don't weight yourself as often. Mindful eating. You got this!

    Food FOMO

I think the hardest "diet" part of this whole experience was the first several days of my preop diet (I was full liquids for 1 week and then clear fluids for 1 week). It was hard psychologically because, like you, I was thinking too much about what I was missing. My surgery was right during the holidays so I was extra in my head about "treats". There was also the emotion of "this is really happening" and it was a little scary for me. Physically, my first few preop diet days were punctuated by headache and anger (hangry). After that, I got used to it and the rest was mostly smooth sailing. My advice is to take it day by day, hour by hour, or minute by minute, if you have to. Know that it does get better and that after surgery, you most likely will not want the things you are thinking you will miss, at least for a while. Do be prepared for the weirdness of not being hungry, ever, after surgery. One of the strangest things I've ever experienced. So, take the pre-op time to establish a better eating schedule that follows your post op plan, if you can. I am still trying to get this part down 3.5 months post surgery. I know you will do well! You are here asking questions, and participating. This shows me that that you want to do well and will do what it takes!
