I'm done telling folks. They don't get it
jersey_girl_86 replied to wannaBthinsoon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To be honest my husband doesn't even know, the only one that knows is my mother. My husband knows I will be having surgery on my stomach in a couple months, that's it bc he would not be supportive and I don't need negativity. I have 2 ulcers so he thinks it's for that. I have never lied about it I just haven't gone into detail. And I would never tell my friends or other family bc they wouldn't understand. -
So for my 2 week pre op diet.. I can have 2 - 3 protein shakes and one small meal a day that consist of 3 oz of protein, some veggies and starch. What do most of you eat?? Im guessing alot of grilled chicken, maybe some tuna and brothy soups and salads? Tomorrow starts my diet and im nervous!!! Im a stay at home mom with 3 kids so i eat alot bc im bored and its in front of me!!!

Surg is today! Have to be at hosp by 7. Just wanted to tell you guys that I was clear liquid and protein until day before. All clear liquids yesterday and I thought my stomach going to eat a hole through my back bone! STAY BUSY! Take a nap, shower, walk, whatever but distract yourself and drunk water or broth and it will subside. Hang in there bc tomorrow morning for you, you will wake up and be so glad you stuck to it 24 hrs longer and it will be THE day! Good luck to you all!!!! -

Well yall, I'm ready! Hubby is out getting him some breakfast (bc I made him) & then we will be headed to hosp by 7. Eeekkk! It's finally here! Hope everyone does well, will be praying for all my 29thers and will post as soon as possible. -
I have BC/BS Federal and I have all the comorbidities. My BMI is 39. I was told that BC/BS would cover the RNY but not the sleeve. I have no pre dieting to do to qualify.

Try Level, it's made for diabetic ppl, 1 g of sugar and 15 g of protein, it's 11 oz, a great supplement to the three meals a day... Also you can get it at walmart, in the diabetic section, chocolate and vanilla, Both taste good to me... I also suggests getting a lot of differnt kinds, try then out, dont invest in a large quantity bc If you can't stand the taste or texture then you'd have wasted money and have a bunch of drink you don't want. Isopure vanilla powder, is my go to protein shake, I use 8oz of Kirkland (costco brand) original soymilk (9g protein), 1 scoop of isopure (25g protein) 1 teaspoon of cocoa powder and a splash of sugar free hazelnut coffee creamer, it's delicious, almost like a cold coffee, minus the coffee, and it's 34g of protein!

bobby88 replied to mtrapp's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Yes! I had RNY on 12/22 and I have some burning. My surgeon said it probably bc I pulled a muscle too much on my right side and it's nothing to worry about. -
Lying about what type of surgery..
Stephie76 replied to Bubsen's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
And told them it's bc of Bariatric surgery. -
I was just catching up on everyone's progress and I'm so impressed! You all look wonderful! I have not lost as much weight as some others, but it am now in onederland. I am still having issues with finding something to drink. I can take sips of orange or apple juice or unsweetened tea with some truvia, but water wants to be my enemy. It sticks in my throat and then in my chest. Terrible heartburn with water. I have tried adding the flavors and ice, all kinds of tricks but no good. Anyway, I am so happy for us all. Losing pounds and getting rid of all of these aches and pains! I have to confess that I haven't used my CPAP since the first week of surgery though, and my daughter was getting on me the other day bc she heard me snoring and said I still need it. Blah! She's right I guess, but I can't wait until I lose enough to be rid of it! Good riddance! Keep up the good work everybody! We all deserve to be healthy and happy and active.

Abuse of wls..when it's not needed
jersey_girl_86 replied to Momma_D's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
For example I need to loose about 120lbs but I don't look it. I feel every single one of those lbs in my knees and back. So I wouldn't judge anyone bc you never know what someone is going threw or story is. -
Required 3 years of medical records
Elode replied to darby0375's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My insurance co required 2 years BCBS fed. And I only had two documents both with a BMI of around 32! I have no co-morbids and they approved me. I was suppose to show two years at a BMI of 40. I was 40 at my first weigh-in though. -
i'am really fed up with the vegetables soup i'am on it for w week and a half plus without any spices i wanna know pleaseeeeeeee after when u eat food with spices ?
-
Spices are tricky. Your belly is producing the same amount of gas on a smaller stomach. It can cause irritations and heartburn, neither of which is good on a healing belly. You don't want to upset your stitches or cause ulcers. I took it easy for at least the first 6 weeks. Then I slowly introduced spices back in.

Maybe buyers remorse is a bit strong but I'm laying here and I'm head hungry. For Mexican in fact. I'm thinking I want chips and salsa and guacamole dip. Then my emotions are sad bc I can't have those things. Will I ever have them again? Just struggling right now with the huge change and "there's no going back now" thoughts.

Me and Artificial Protein are NOT Getting Along
blondebomb replied to MyssJones's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I ended buying a can of unflavored isolate whey protein (vegan type) I would put a teasp in my coffee, in my hot teas, in my small soups, in sf pudding cup..it took me a few wks to get my required in. I couldnt sip on water much bc of the esophagus spasms I had for 2 wks...there are also protein shots you can get. cvs carries them...you'll get there. by my 6 wks I was gagging on shakes as well..I did also drink the pure protein shakes I did well with those but I did try the adkins an it was gross! it made my tummy cramp so I thru them out! I am 5 months out an I still eat on the pure protein bars an a few other brands when Its just me an dont feel like cooking. -
In a previous post I mentioned that I don't have a scale in my house. I plan to keep it that way. I had my surgical follow up yesterday and I know that I've lost weight but I didn't know how much. Of course, my family decided to "weigh in" and guess my loss: Me - 15lbs Daughter - 17lbs Sis in Law - 19lbs Husband - 22.5lbs Mom - 23lbs It was actually 28lbs! I lost 28.bs in 19 days. Praise the Lord! Things have been going very well. Still no pain or nausea and I'm healing well. I look forward to being able to add swimming to my walking. I'm still in the puree foods until next week but even that's been fine. I keep praying that this process stays as it is. I'm loving it!

Pain in stomach when I sip water
Serra Cherub replied to krisstep's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get the same thing and I am about 3 months out. My NUT also said that it tends to happen with plain water bc it fills you up much more quickly. Not sure how it makes sense but whenever I drink milk (same amount and same pace) I don't get the same sensation. Weird. -
I had surgery Oct 27. Extremely excited about my process. Dating a new man, down to size 22 (I have never been a size 22), happy. I'm losing some friends and that's fine. I've always been the type of girl that didn't put up with much bs when it came to jealousy and all that. I have a group of friends that we called ourselves the fat girls. Now that I've had surgery, and my other friend had the sleeve, we're both finding out how rude people are. I wish we had a support group around the Joplin, or Missouri area. Or friends who are going through the same thing. People to meet up for lunch, or a movie.

I haven't had sex since surgery, mainly bc I went through a bad break up the week of my surgery. However I'm dating a new guy and taking it very slow. But excited about when it does happen. Its good to know you ladies didn't have a problem. It gives me hope!

Any December Sleevers
DgotSleeved replied to Pepper123's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
wow congrats @@WRIGHTLE!!! good for you. honestly I don't feel the restriction when I'm drinking. I can take the 4oz in an hour. I'm not sure if mine is just a little bigger or I tolerate it better. when I go to postop tomorrow I'm gonna ask bc I don't like that I don't have restriction lol but yes. plenty of nectar protein, water, sugar free koolaid drops... I live with a water bottle in my hand -
I had my bypass Nov 3rd. Tonight I went out with a few people for dinner. We went to buffalo wild wings. I had a grilled chicken wrap. Took 2 bites of the insides and I have this horrible pain in my left should. My nurse said it's normal, bc I eat too much, too fast, or not chewing enough. It hurts to the point where I'm starting to tear up. Does anyone else have these pains.

I am really pushing it.
nikeisha932 replied to tfarr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was in the same situation as mnmlst. I had help for the first 2 weeks then I was on my own with my 11 month old daughter. My husband is military and went on a field op for 2 weeks. You just have to be very cognizant of finding alternatives to not lifting. We put my daugther's crib mattress in on the floor next to our bed so I wouldn't have to lift her in and out of the crib. I fed her sitting on the floor so I didn't have to use the high chair. I held her hands while she climbed up and down the stairs. Anything I could do to not lift her. That said, there were times I had to lift her and I did pay the price. I was sore and in pain on those days I did too much. Thankfully nothing more serious. Just take your time and use your legs if you have to lift, but avoid it as much as you can. Good luck!! -
I'm hungry... Help!
Shannon Piper replied to lexx1209's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the sleeve on Dec 17th. From the moment I woke up in recovery I have been hungry. I am craving meat like crazy. I was told over and over by former patients that you never crave food again. What a bunch of BS. I experience gurgling in my stomach that is acid reflux and I feel tortured seeing food commercials on TV. Worst time of the year for this around the holidays. Can only hope this gets better. And those boring Protein shakes do NOT make you feel full. Total myth.
