  1. Doing pretty well here, too. My diet has been a little screwed up b/c it seems that there's just one thing after another going wrong. First, I had thrush....so I had to start yogurt early. Then I had severe constipation, so the docs told me to go ahead with the mushies to get things moving along...almost wish I hadn't. Had to go to the ER at 3:45 yesterday morning - the most painful thing I've ever experienced, including 3 natural childbirths. Now I'm not eating anything at all - not b/c I can't - but because I'm just scared to. lol...I've lost a total of 30 lbs from pre-surgery till now, but haven't lost anything since the 5th day post-op. It could be the mushies that I started, but they were low-fat/low-cal and I was only consuming a little over 300 cals a day. I hope this is not what I can expect from here on. I need more than 300 calories to function properly! I go back to my surgeon on the 25th for my 2 week follow up appt. I was really excited, and now....not so much.

  2. Today was my first day that I felt something remotely normal. Had more energy and felt good for most of the day. Maybe tomorrow you'll feel good. I too, am supposed to be on the liquid diet, but I had a bit of oatmeal for breakfast - it went down no problem but I had an upset stomach later on in the day - not sure if its related or not. To date, pre-surg diet and after being banded, I've lost 15 pounds. I had hoped for more, but its a good start. I make a point of drinking three protein shakes a day and the ones I chose seems to have a lot of carbs, calories, and sugar - may have to rethink those. I am getting bored though, I even have food fantasies and that is bad. I know I need to get a grip. Like you I am trying to get to know the site. I pretty much respond to threads in our group, reply to recent blog postings and respond to messages like yours. I'm hoping in time I get better with this because I really enjoy the conversations. I hope you start getting back to normal really soon.

  3. Oh, I thought you meant you never stopped smoking...sorry! You and your girls look really fun...I still like to eat and drink but I concentrate more on the drinking these days!!I live in CA and its generally always Margarita weather here!(Bad empty calories I know)

    I am getting mine done at NorthWest Weight Loss Surgery Center in Everett. All they do for weight loss is Lap Band. Hearing that you are going to Swedish for yours makes me wonder if I have made a mistake. Just because Swedish is such a wonderful hospital. NWWLS has been wonderful. They have support meetings twice a month and open appointments for counseling so that part is nice.

    I read about your infection... best of luck with that! Hope you are making a quick recovery and getting on top of it. I am on my post op diet. Three 110 calorie protein shakes and one 400 calorie meal a day. It is crazy. However, important because it shrinks the liver to make the surgery easier.

    Thursday is my surgery. Should take four hours and then I can go home.

    I will let you know how things were for me.

    I am more nervous than I thought I would be. About the journey after the surgery and not the surgery itself.

    Just wondering how your weightloss is going? Mine stopped about a week ago! I've upped my calories to 8-900 per day and it's still not moving. It's just not logical is it?

    I'm able to eat everything now and have never pb'd.....have you? I am really careful though.

    I'm having my fill on the 24th but I can't see that helping as I'm not overeating!

    Hi Susan, how are you doing? I haven't lost any more weight in the past week and I'm really peed off about it. I'm having about 8-900 calories now so logically I SHOULD be losing it shouldn't I?

    I should just not weigh myself really but I always do!

    What's happening with your weight?

    I lost 12lbs in the first 10 days, then it took 5 more days to lose another pound, then nothing! I don't think anything will change when I have my fill on the 24th as I'm not overeating at all. I can eat anything now, including bread, which is great! I'm really careful though as I'm not all that hungry.

    Hope you are feeling better.I hear walking helps.I walked all night the night of the surgery.I'm lucky the gas didn't last long & I'm feeling good.Not so sure if I'm enjoying the band yet. I go for my first fill on 4/10.Already saw the Dr. for follow up on Mon.I lost 19 pounds since the pre-op but have gained 1 1/2 since starting the mushies. I hear that's pretty common. Your body was being starved, now that you are giving it a few hundred calories more, it's holding on tight. I'm eating pretty much what you are. I'm trying to get in a protein shake for the protein (not because I love it, which I don't) I also get soup once in a while. Other than that, I'm feeling pretty good. I'm trying to go to the gym every other day. I have a torn meniscus in my knee. I'm dealing with the knee with PT. Hopefully I can avoid surgery on the knee. What are you doing about Easter?

  9. Awe... Chloe is so adorable! Things are wonderful here. I was down 25 lbs but gained back 1 lb when I started soft food... it really hurt my feelings... but whatever. I will definately let you know how the fill goes! I'm a bit anxious about it also. I just found this fantastic protein shake for my late nights at work. It is 25 grams of protein, no carbs, no fat, no sugar and only 110 calories. It's by jayrobb and is whey protein. I didn't care for the strawberry but the chocolate is a dream!! I just ordered a single serving pina colada and tropical dreamscicle online today and can't wait to try them. They keep me full for a good bit of time. They're nice when you don't have enough breaks at work or time to cover all of your meals! I am so glad to hear you're doing great! Piper is doing wonderful, adjusting well. Well have to get back to work but it's great to catch up... I'll talk to you again soon!

  10. Hey Gonna!!!....June 5th is day 1 of my low carb diet....it will consist of a low carb protein shake for breakfast and dinner. Lunch will be 4oz of lean meat or fish and some sort of green vegetable and one low carb/calorie snack during the day and plenty of water and/or crystal light....2weeks straight...no deviations. I also bought a new treadmill and have started a couch to 5K program......Im so excited and happy for you too!!....we can do this!!!...

  11. i am on a medi trim diet 2 shakes a day with a protein medi trim bar . 2 cups of salad and nothing over 5 calories. pickles are 5 calories or so. good and crunchy. they never said nothing about broth but some people are having it my wife did when she was on her pre op diet.

    think i am going to try making a soup veggies in it tomatoes and cabbage onions carrots and see if that will help.

    my work puts me on the road for two days on two days home so will be nice to have something warm to have.

  13. I honestly do not stick to calorie intake. I do however watch my carb intake. But not so much calorie. I eat tofu at least 4 times a week. (I know I hear you all already ewh.... tofu. don't knock it till you try it the right way). I make stir fry dishes using tofu and if we are having chinese at work I order tofu. I love the maximum protein from GNC. However it's expensive. Vitamin shop is cheaper and you can buy any protein, take it home, try it, and if you don't like it you can return it. I also recommend greek yogurt. It is called Fage. It kinda tastes like a sour, sour cream but it has like 18grms of protein in 1cp. I add one sweet and low to it. I have a 4cc band and I am at at least 3.7. I get fills and unfills often, so I can no where my optimal restriction is. I have realized it changes with weight loss.

  14. Hmm..I would be bummed too! BUT let's look at it this way. You lost. Even though it was just a pound. Are you measuring yourself? maybe you lost inches and not pounds. Also, maybe your body just needs MORE calories to lose weight. I read on here all of the time that if you go too low, your body holds on. I read a good article on the home page about weight loss plateus, if you cant find it I posted in on my blog last week I think. Dont give up! You will get there! Drink your water, get your protein, move....it has to happen.

  15. Hey I cant wait till then. I am on 5 Slim Fast High Protein a day and then a 200 calorie meal at night for 2 weeks b4. Let me tell you they are not good all or I dont like them. I got one to try today and its nasty but its only for two weeks I can do it..I am so excited so I think I will b able to handle it..Where are you having yours done..did your dr tell you how much you could lose in a year bc mine was not very informative about that he just said about half ur extra weight but everyone i have seen has lost more so i was just wondering what yours said

  24. Had surgery on August 26, and doing relatively well. We are at the pour off the spoon stage and this seems to satisfy us more than clear liquids :) I am looking forward to something more substantial because our calorie intake is really low. thanks for stopping by! have a wonderful day!
