    Protein Powder

I just posted a thread on this topic as well. I'm on Unjury protein power as well.. nasty stuff. but they all are. But 1 scoopful = 28 grams of protein and you'll need it. I mixed Unjury non flavored with chicken broth the first week I was home. I went to Jamba Juice today and got one of their lite (150 cal mixes) and dropped a scoopful in it, and it was drinkable (I did not gag as much). Also, I have problems with milk and milk is an important source of proteine. I can't wait to go to foods so i can have my cottage cheese instead . If I ever even think about cheating in 4 months time, i will remember the taste of my Unjury protein and that will keep me on track!!! ha ha.. like Pavlov's dog.. instead of salvating, i'll remember how horrible drinking the stuff was. good luck to you. its only for 4 weeks anyway. so suck it up!)

    Wedding Story Fun Thread

My soon to be sisters-in-law were absoulutely terrified that a Water fight was going to break out at my wedding. You see, at my neice's wedding, that is exactly what we did. had a giant water fight. 'Cause I suppose that is the sort of people we are. I don't think my sisters-in-law have ever had a water fight in their entire lives. More the pitty. We had about 250 people at our wedding. We had our cerimony at my in-law's rec center just south of Seattle, in Normandy Park. It was a beautiful late August day. I'm firmly convinced that August is our reward for the rest of the year. It's always just the most beautiful month here... The limo was a vintage Bently. My dress was a cream Renaissance inspired dress, and DH and Spudboy were both wearing tail coats. Our groomsmen (I think we had 8 of them) wore traditional tuxes, but my ladies were all in Renaissance dresses. Thier colors were from a pale pink to a deep burgundy, depending on their color. (I bought their dresses...) DH had arranged a harpist. .... A small stream demarked the area where the cerimony was from our guests. After DH and I exchanged our vows, DH and Spud exchanged their vows to be dad and boy. The three of us lit the Unity Candle. To greet our guests we met them at the bridge. the reception was in the rec hall, with a big buffet of cold-cuts and cheeses and stuff like that. All the left-overs went to the one of the local soup-kitchens. (We sort of doubled our food budget so that there would be plenty of extra.) the next week we went to another wedding, and all anyone could talk about was my wedding. I was soo embarrased for the other woman. ... My dad had died a little more than a month before my wedding, after a long bout with cancer. My younger sister thought I should cancel the wedding, and didn't speak to me for years because I didn't cancel. My dad would have had a gi-normous fit if we'd canceled and lost our deposit money. He was funny that way!

    Wedding Story Fun Thread

My wedding day was so fantastic! Great weather (a bit windy) and sunny day in March in Arizona. I had my best friends fly all the way to Arizona from Illinois and I had my Bachelorette party in Las Vegas!! Hubby unfortunately got a kidney infection from his weekend of boozing in Flagstaff at a cabin with "da boyz". He isn't much of a big liquor drinker, more of a beer kinda guy. I was applied and was chosen to be on "A Wedding Story" on TLC channel on TV. I was sooooooo excited! But, everyone in the wedding party had to sign a release to be on TV and because the best man was doing undercover work for Homeland Security we couldn't. I had to cancel. The day after I cancelled the best man called to say he had to miss the wedding all together. I was PISSED. I called her back and she had already told the alternate they were chosen. I was married before but never had a wedding. I have a son from a previous marriage he adopted and we announced in our ceremony. We secretly surprised our son with a three circle medallian in our ceremony. Our wedding was full of tears one minute, laughter the next. It was great! Instead of a unity candle we had a "rememberence candle" with pictures of loved ones that had passed on. We lit the candle in rememberence of them and hopes they were with us on our special day. The day itself was a FAIRYTALE with a fairytale theme. We had "dancing fairies" playing as I walked down the aisle and flowers and ambience abound! We were married in a Gazebo on a golf course at sunset and had our wedding reception overlooking the golf course at full moon! We had the BEST dj's ever and they played 80's music galore! We rocked out to the Go-Go's and Men Without Hats and Billy Idol all night long. And this is the best part.... I planned my wedding full time for a year. I made it a game to find out how much I could save by wheeling/dealing/etc on EVERYTHING yet not scrimp on style. Some things I paid full price, some I got a SMOKING deal!!! I ebayed A LOT. I bartered. I begged. I flashed cleavage even one time. I kept careful track of everything down to the penny. I even kept a cost comparison to show what "regular" price would have been. My total wedding (and I mean everything including the b-parties, honeymoon cruise, food, dress, bridesmaid dresses, decorations, all rentals, photography, cake, flowers, the WORKS) WOULD have been $17,279 and I paid.... ready? ..... $7,197!! I saved over 10k with my efforts! It was VERY hard work though and I worked constantly for a year on it. I have always been into photography but have always done surreal type photos. Since all the work on my wedding, I took up wedding photography for friends and family. I cry at EVERY wedding. Even if I don't know them and came there to photograph it on a referral from a friend. Here are some pics of my wedding day.......

    Still Gobbling Food

I use an app called "Eat Slower"... you can set the timer for any amount of time up to three minutes. It starts a countdown and will vibrate or ding every three minutes (or whatever you set it to). I just sit it by my plate and it vibrates, I take a bite, chew, chew, chew then wait for the next ding. You still need small bites but it does help you learn just how slow you should be eating. Ginger

    Muscle pain - any opinions?

Darla Preband, I had a sore neck and shoulders occasionally, but hey, I'm 60 years old. My body isn't what it used to be and I accept a few aches and pains. I had my first fill about 2 weeks ago and the pains started two months ago. It doesn't seem related to me, but I'll keep it in mind. Thanks for your thoughts.

  7. My girls are 6, 4, and 22m. I'm 7 weeks out now, and if I what I'm making for them for dinner is not a good choice for me, I find something that is and still share the dinner table with my girls and husband. They are handfuls let me tell ya, but I'm working on better health so this summer we can rock the bikes, beach, amusement parks, etc!!!!!

    You women with small children

I have a hubby and two step children age 28 and 18 (disabled, but very capable) and I have been so lucky Hubby or daughter have pretty much feed each other in cooking and shopping and left me to my own little ounces here and there of what i eat. I might suggest something for hubby to fix for them or tell him how to make it but he has done great. At first the smells of some foods he was cooking bout sent me over the edge, But I am dong better. We had three grandchildren over the other night and daughter made their whole dinner so that was great. Not sure how I would feel if I had to do all the cooking and no eating. But hopefully I will get back into the swing of it and we will all eat healthier.
  9. I started my 6 month journey in June and have been gaining and losing the same 6 lbs since I started. I am trying to commit and my surgery center told me that as long as I try, I should be fine. I also have three more visits, so it sounds like our surgery dates will be quite similar.

    Love my Watkins Products

Thanks so much ladies! When you sign up as a customer, does Watkins say they'll send you a catalog directly? If so, that's nice! They haven't sent me a catalog request, so they must be sending them for me. If any of you haven't gotten them in week's time, please let me know!

    "No go" foods

Last time I tried refried beans, they hurt. That was nearly two months ago. Last week had a sesame grilled chicken salad at BJs Brewhouse. The napa cabbage sat like a brick in my stomach. I can eat coleslaw without a problem or any other raw salad. Pork is hit or miss. So is beef.

    Clothing After Surgery

Starting at 265, my 22/24 and 1 or 2X clothes were fitting me "tightly" in places. Then I lost 15 pounds on the pre-op diet, which I could always lose in the past but never get past on the scale. By then my clothes were fitting me the way they should have fit me. I remember cleaning out my closet 6 weeks after surgery and got rid of half my closet. I still have a pile of nice clothes I need to take pictures of and sell, including a nice black interview suit worn once. I was about 235-240 then and was wearing some 18's a little snug. By 8 weeks out, the 18's fit like they should and I went down in bra size. By 11 weeks out, the 18's were sad and people I barely knew told me to stop wearing the 1X tops because it looked like I was "wearing another person's wardrobe." Now, at almost 13 weeks I'm wearing a solid 16 pants (even some 14 stretch work pants) and either a size M-L top. The first 6 weeks seeing the weight come off but not truly dropping in clothes was frustrating, it just take a little longer to catch up. It's funny now how I'll buy a pair of pants and remember them as "tighter than I'd like" to only find two weeks later already becoming looser than I'd like!!!

    Surgery 10/5

My surgeon asked me how I was feeling about the surgery in my Pre-op exam a week before my surgery. I said 'anxious, nervous. And a bit scared.'. He said that was good. It's the cocky people who have no fears that he gets concerned about. And as a side note he said that those people are the ones who usually have the bumpier ride bcs they aren't prepared. So, embrace your fears! They will help guide & educate you towards a wonderful, healthier you! :-)
  16. I haven been on VST in a while because I am really enjoying the new me. I have been very active since my surgery on May 3rd 2013. I have lost a total of 83 lbs and this is the best i have felt in a very long time. I work out an 1 hour usually 3 to 4 times a week. I can really see the changes. I have went down from a 26/28 (some 30's) to wearing a size 18w pants. It used to be ashamed to try on clothes in the stores but, now take my own sweet time in the dressing room. When I was younger, I loved roller coasters. I stopped getting on them because i was too afraid that I would not fit and they would ask to get off. This summer I rode so many rides. I had the time of my life. I thank God that I have not had any complications. I usually do a protein shake in the morning, a lean cuisine for lunch, another protein shake, and a hearty protein for dinner. My appetite seems to go with the weather. Not for sure why. The only bad habit I have is I weigh myself too much and ooh I forgot the chocolate lol. My Dr and nutritionist have been there for the much needed support. My husband got the lap band 2 years ago so it makes it nice that we both can support each other. I have 70 more lbs to loose to be a my idea weight. I am not anxious to reach my goal. I have always told myself that when i got the surgery I would be the creator of my own success. Therefore, Im taking one day at time. Right now, I am just enjoying the new me.

    saw the surgeon

Your the second person in the last couple of weeks that has said that a surgeon wouldn't do your band because of a BMI>45. When I questioned my surgeon wondering why a surgeon would say that, he was surprised. We have done patients with BMI's in the 60's and they have been very successful. Makes you wonder if they really believe in the band or not??

    saw the surgeon

Sue, I'm kind of stuck into it now. All of my appointments are set for next week and I assume I'll have a surgery date as soon as the test results are faxed over. I meet the actual doctor tomorrow and I'm sure it's not a problem, since the resident told me that he does lapbands for 50BMI. I feel pretty good about the choice of surgeon. We'll see if I feel the same tomorrow. Thanks for the input, Sue and everyone. I'll keep you updated. Laura

    Weight loss avg

I’d say I’m a fairly slow loser. I lost 16 pounds in first month and 1/2 of it was in the first week. I stalled at weeks 2-3 but since then I’ve lost 2-4 pound per week. I’m about 10 weeks out and have lost 32 lbs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

@@willstride and others having surgery..... you're gonna rock this..... it's normal to be nervous, but look how far you've come already just to get to this day!!! You're gonna do great, and every day will be better than the one before! I am a week post-op and every day I feel a little stronger and better. Will be awaiting news from you after your surgery. Good luck and God bless Will say general prayers for all who are at this point. Hugs, Jodi
  21. Congrats to both of you. It is an exciting journey. Looking forward to start my journey in under 2 weeks.
  22. Hi everyone! I was banded one week ago. This past week has been great (except for pain in chest with deep breathes) until today. My pain is the worst it's been and my tummy is rumbling like crazy. It's seems to be gas pain but nothing is doing to trick. I have a md appointment in 8 hours and am just trying to hold out and not take myself to the hospital. Please tell me I'm not alone in this?! Has anyone else experienced this pain an entire week out of surgery?

    Stomach Muscles

I'm 2 weeks post-op and tummy bloating is getting better but still there. I've been wearing dresses to work. Today I wore pants but unbuttoned them and folded it in, luckily they stayed up with the zipper!
  24. I have four kids, and they are older, but I am still wondering what to say to them about my surgery: before/after/during. For the most part, they haven't asked a lot. I have 3 girls ages 17, 15 and 14 and a 12 year old boy. They are all in the healthy weight range. My 15 year old was with me during the initial seminar and my doctor's appointment and endoscopy, so she knows the most. The 14 year old has been at camp this last week and has some questions and concerns. I think she is a bit worried about me having a surgery. The other two haven't talked about it very much, but I expect more questions. So far, the talking has been about what I will eat and family meals -- will they need to eat like I do, for instance. Today, my 14-year-old was telling me that hospital food is bad, and she'd bring me some McDonald's when I was in there for my surgery. I had to explain that I couldn't eat McDonald's because my stomach would be healing. I didn't talk long term about no McDonald's. I figured baby steps for that discussion. Any advice from those that are doing this and/or have been there? Thanks!
  25. Ok I am going to confess. I barley tracked what I ate this week, I went out to dinner 3 times, and I am eating carbs more. I normally weigh in on Fridays but I am ashamed and don't want to step on the scale tomorrow. I don't want to get discouraged if I gained... My first adjustment is May 12th. I feel like I am slowly converting to my old ways...
