I had to go for an unfill and he took 8 cc's to punish me for taking a whole cc. Now, I am hungry a lot so I am going back next Monday to get at least 4 cc's back in. A shake in the morning is good and I wish that is all I want but I have been wanting more. Good luck to you and hope that you can still loose the weight with the unfill. We sure went thru a lot just to get banded. Please don't take offense to this. Just wanted you to think about it. Judy

Yesterday, I just had someone ask me this. And actually, I do know she meant well, and was nice. But I still don't think it's anyone's business. I replied with simply, " more than I have to admit, and I'm still loosing". She did say I look great too! And that's how I will respond with any more inquiries.

LOL, not sure if you are talking to me? But you did quote me, so I'm going to assume "yes". Sorry if you weren't! I definitely have excess skin in my upper arms and my side boob area, which I am actually getting addressed next week with an arm lift and boob lift revision! (so excited). They aren't so very bad and I can hide them pretty well, but I hate them so they have to go! My butt is also very deflated and I've got a bit of wrinkly skin above my belly button, but i can live with them .

Has anyone had insurance cover plastics?
QueenOfTheTamazons posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have heard that insurance will cover some skin removal procedures if there were medical complications due to the excess skin, but havent actually known anyone with first hand knowledge. Has anyone else see insurance cover it? HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/16 -
I finally found out not eating enough protein makes you hair go thin. If you start eating your protein in the amounts you should, does it come back or get thicker again? I sure hope so....:phanvan

I am much older than you so my skin is loose. I apply more crap on my face in one day than most people do in a week to try to look better. You are very lucky not to have the excess saggy skin.

Has anyone had lipo to get rid of the double chin? I'm just wondering how effective it is and if bariatric patients have had success with lipo alone in this area (i.e. would most weight loss patients have loose skin in this area after lipo). I'm planning to have abdominoplasty and brachioplasty next month, and I'm considering asking my surgeon about liposuction in my neck as well. Thanks for your help.

September surgeries, how are you doing almost a month out?
gzhottie replied to lovingme4me's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello y'all, my surgery date was on 09/09/2013 and I am down 50 pounds and hate to exercise but I started two weeks ago on treadmill only. I tried Zumba but I couldn't keep up with them because of my left knee. Ugh, but oh well, I will keep on trying the treadmill at least 3x a week. So I still have problems throwing up and now I can't stomach tomatoes and spicy food. I used to love spicy food. Not no more!!! But I am still thankful to Our God for loosing fifty pounds. bandded replied to BrendaLH's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
how do you feel about not using floral when getting ur fills? i heard the garden grove office doesnt have floral. just got my first fill on the 15th of july, cant imagine a doctor or nurse feeling and pocking around for a port. I went to my surgery place TJ. they have floral and the fill process was precise, with floral they were sure not to fill me too tight or to loose. wondering how fill centers without floral operate. -

What Are Some On Your Mini Goals?
SKCUNNINGHAM replied to Luisa4ever21's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had some of the same goals already listed - fit into an airplane seat when I traveled - be able to shop for nicer looking clothes. Here are some that were mine that haven't been listed yet: - Weigh less than my husband - DONE - Wear my wedding rings again - DONE - they are now loose! - Be smaller than my husband's ex wife the next time I had to see her at an extended family gathering. - DONE - Be able to select from a wide variety of positions to put my body in with ease and grace - I'm really enjoying this one - Not be the "Fat" sister at the Christmas celebration - DONE - Have formal portraits taken with my husband, son, daughter in law and two grandkids - DONE - Not have anything in my closet that is too little to wear - Almost there - still have a few to go - Get rid of any clothes that don't look terrific on me - I am no longer settling for "it fits, it's OK" - this is a continuous process during the weight loss phase for me. I need to do another sweep of my closet and get rid of more things. I want to live in two closets - one in season, one out of season. No more clothes of every size squirrelled away all over the place. -
Youre gonna be just fine Warmmoring sun. And youre going to embark on a journey of a lifetime, better than any vacation...with every pound you loose you will feel beter and beter. You wont fail after surgery. I wondered about that too. I remember thinking "supose I'm one of those who dosent loose" but you will. Good luck to you !

You can't tighten skin with any exercise, so there's no point in worrying about that. If you want to do arm exercises that will help burn calories but it won't affect your skin situation one way or the other.

Hey there @Skinnycows. I just turned 30, but had my RNY when I was 23 and 300 lbs. At 25 I was at my thinnest, and had lost about 175 pounds. The extra skin wasn’t bad at all...then I gained about 65 lbs. back, lost some again, and am now at 180. I do have extra skin, mostly around my upper inner arms, upper inner thighs, and stomach around my belly button. Also, my boobs have completely deflated. You can’t really tell I have extra skin with clothes on, unless I’m wearing a sleeveless shirt and lift my arms up (“wings”), but you can definitely see it without clothes on. I am not trying to discourage you or anything, just keepin’ It real. I’m a very self conscious, insecure person, so I think I’m hyper aware of my extra skin. My boyfriend doesn’t seem to mind at all! Also, I must admit that I didn’t work out and tone my body like I should have. My unsolicited advice to you... Please Don’t let this aspect of WLS be what makes you decide to to get or not get the surgery. When I got it, I was under the spell of wanting to LOOK better rather than FEEL better, and I was not ready to make the lifestyle changes I was I supposed to. Now I wish I hadn’t gotten it so young. Anyway, the skin should be the least of your worries! Depending on your insurance, cosmetic skin removal surgery might be covered if you keep the weight off for over 2 years. That’s what blue shield told me at the time, anyway. Hope this was helpful for you. Good luck with everything ❤️

Where is my port? Advice please...
TXSassyGal posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello! I was banded a little less than 2 weeks ago. I have a larger incision on my left side, and with the large knot under my skin, I was SURE this was my port, until tonight... All of a sudden, I feel a knot about 2-3 inches higher on the same side. Which one do you think is my port? Why do I have two knots? What could the other one be? I have an appointment on Tuesday, but in the meantime, I'm stressed all of a sudden! Thanks for the help! -

Hi! Thanks for a reply! I am really excited about this surgery. I am hoping to loose around 60-70lbs. I started at 257lbs. two weeks ago and I am starting my third week at 238lbs. I am 5'5 and 34 years old. I am a mother of two a 6 month old girl and a 2 year old boy. I need the energy to keep up with them Ha-Ha. I have been heavy my whole life, so I am really looking forward to next summer in a bathing suit. How far out are you? Did your weight come off easy? They, the Dr. said I would not get a fill until my 8 week visit. Is this normal? I don't read much on exercise? Is anyone really committed to exercising. I have been walking with my kids in the neighborhood, but I am still not 100% feeling up to it yet. Ya! I am following my Dr. advise and reading all my books. These few weeks are going to be the hardest, I think. Are you eating soild food, if so what?

I hear ya, Little Miss Band-Aid! Why is it the boobs and butt go first? NSVS: I've gone from a 26/28 to a 22 in jeans. Some 22's are even loose. Can't wait to get into a 20. I can't remember the last time I wore that size! My stomach doesn't touch the steering wheel in the car anymore. I finally put the sleep apnea machine in the closet. Don't think I'll be needing it anymore! Before surgery, I had heartburn almost daily. I ate Zantac or Tums like candy. I don't remember the last time I had heartburn! I'm so glad to be rid of that!!

Let's see... 1. I have way more energy. 2. My clothes are fitting loose. Can't wait to get into smaller ones. 3. My co-workers notice and compliment my weight loss. 4. I have wayyyy more time on my hands now. Never realized how much my life centered around food. 5. I have inspired my children to exercise and eat a little healthier.

Well although there are a lot of articles and things out there that talk about average weight loss. Well what is average weight loss considering we are all different and unique people. I my self started out at 402 lbs on 8/28/03, that was 3 and a half months ago. I have been eating solid food for about 2of those months. I now weigh 340 lbs, that is 62 lbs in 3 months with noooooooooooo fill. My friend has lost 100 lbs in 3 months with no fill although she has had some complications, a different friend has only lost 35 lbs in 5 months with 2 fills and that is ok. Everyone is different, even if we all ate the same food, exercised the same it doesn't mean we will al loose the same. You may loose 36 lbs but you could also loose all of the weight you need to to get to your goal weight. SO GOOD LUCK!! Don't let anyone bring you down. I haven't even scheduled a fill yet because I don't need one yet. you will do great.

Should I ask the doc for Metformin/Glucophage?
bookaddict replied to AppleSmith1226's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I could have written the exact same thing as above! Although my hair growth is more than minimal...but I have taken Met for abt. 2 years and if anything, my PCOS has gotten much worse. More and more hair, more skin tags, more weight, hair is beginning to thin on head, still not ovulating. With that being said, you should try it because it works great for some PCOS'ers. Good luck! -
I havent been on since posting "just wanna kick myself in the arse". I have done some serious self evaluation and feel on top of the world! I was discouraged due to low self esteem, no support system, couldn't get a fill, finding out I had 2- 1cm seromas (like what the hell is that? right! my thoughts exactly. lol) and poor communication between surgeon and true results. Now 45 days post op I wouldn't do it over again but it made me stronger. When I went to my first fill I found out I lost 8 lbs more than where they expected me to be. 281 before, 260 on the 6/27th and 257 today-(5inches and 2 sizes down). I was told to slow down because loosing it too fast will cause my skin to sag. I was going 5 days a week from 5/27-6/20 for about an hour. I drink 2-4 liters of water OR crystal light a day. I would be lying if I said I eat right every single day so I will not lie I will not say what I eat or ate unless asked for everyone is different but I will say I ONLY DRINK WATER OR CRYSTAL LIGHT NOTHING ELSE! I eat lots and lots of fish. I decreased my gym activity before I was told to because my work load increased so I am still active. Since being told to go 2-3 times a week it seems like my motivation is leaving but the weight is still falling off. The few things I try to do are park far from stores (regardless of the heat) and I take the steps (no mater how long it takes me). So I strongly suggest being more active. Get a pedometer and challenge yourself. I still have trouble with my diet but Im starting to think if I did everything by the book I probaly would have lost double the weight, Oh well! I'm not perfect but I'm striving just to be better. I forgot to mention I had 2.2cc already in my 10cc band and 2cc was added. I don't feel any difference but I will be pateint.
