June 2012 Sleevers Post Op Check In
Gene1970 replied to robin33's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sleeved on the 13th and doing great. Like Karen74 I was losing a couple pounds a day up front but that has slowed as I expected it would. I'm still losing although slower which is fine for me. I know i'm dropping weight and that's what's important. I didn't gain 2lbs a day so I don't expect to keep up that pace in losing it. Between pre-op and post op I'm down 46lbs which is a ton more than I could have done on my own in this period of time. I'm seeing plenty of NSV's and couldn't be happier. -
While I appreciate your input, it was not a reward. I no longer have "rewards" or "cheats" as per my eating disorder therapist and my own resolve. I have LIFE. I plan to go to the same restaurants I've always gone to, just to eat less and count every calorie. So, I am incorporating the foods I like into my life in a healthy way. Some days will be better than others but I REFUSE to beat myself up for living it or to say I'll never have another margarita. I have lived the "never have anything high calorie again" lifestyle, got down to a size 4, and it's not sustainable long term. Frankly, I'm a little disappointed at the negative feedback, when I specifically posted a NSV. Margarita 400 calories. I was at 1050 for the day and exercised 200.

Things I won't/don't miss about being Obese
Lizalee replied to MissWilde's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Southerngirl: "Not being able to tie my shoes without an act of Congress" I hear you there --- my shoelaces ALWAYS seem to come open when I go for walks - and I'd look for something to prop my foot up to retie. NSV noted last week: I can bend over and tie my shoe now, without feeling like I'm going to pass out! :-) -
Congratulations to you! It's great that you set some NSVs as your goals and that you kept track of when you met them. What a great idea! Nancy

Anyone From Buffalo, Ny Out There?
chilihot59 replied to chilihot59's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Another NSV for me. I sang with my workshop choir again, in concert yesterday for the first time in four years! It felt so good!!! I'm still trying to get use to people not recognizing me, lol!!! I guess that's a good thing. -
I'm a slow loser too. But I know I am doing everything that needs to be done. During stalls I concentrate on NSV's to celebrate. DEE http://deekajungumbo.blogspot.com/2014/05/friday-weigh-in.html

I weigh less than my boyfriend and I never thought I would weigh less than a significant other. LOL. Love it! Congrats on the NSV.

I'm almost choked up here reading your WONDERFUL NSV! I hope that someday I am also able to do that. You are one of the people here that I find most inspiring and I am so happy for you that you've gotten to this point. CONGRATS!!! -
March 2014 Sleevers
sleevie.wonder replied to kimpossible80's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You're definitely right about the "getting into is not the same as fitting in to" that's for sure. Great job on your NSV! -
Very strange week. I'm down 8 lbs since the previous Thursday "thanks" to food poisoning from tasty, but bad seafood the weekend before T-giving. As of Sunday, I'm actually feeling normal but Thanksgiving goodies were not an issue. One great NSV, one of my nieces saw me and "as only a child can" said "Aunt Susie, You look great". That was truly the best part of my holiday. Still sick, but I look and feel SO much better than this time last year. Hope y'all's holidays are going well!!!!

How long does port pain last???
kphoping replied to asho_26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well they released me from the hospital and the doctor is still standing by his decision that where the port was stitched on the muscle, that muscle is having spasms. I am going to my surgeons office tomorrow to see if he can provide anymore information. One good NSV occurred I was removed off of my high blood pressure medication. I will keep you posted. -
Down a little more this week. Slow but still down and I had an awesome NSV this week. I was doing some much needed clothes shopping for an upcoming business trip and found a shirt I loved but no large. So, on a total whim, I tried on the medium... IT FIT!! SW - 183.2 CW - 181.2 GW - 173.2

Congrats on your NSV!!! Sadly I'm having a hard time accepting the shrinking. Before surgery I was a 40DDD. Today I was professionally measured for the first time since surgery at a 38B or C depending on the bra. I cried. I knew they would shrink but at 5 weeks post op I wasn't thinking it would be this fast. Honestly my chest was the ONE thing I liked about myself when I was overweight. It was the one thing I knew I had that I could flaunt and made me feel sexy. Regardless of all the fat. But today felt like someone ripped my "sexy security blanket" from me. I know I'll get over it. I'm grateful for my weight loss and being healthy but it's hard to let go of the one part of me that I loved and made me feel good about myself for so long. Learning to love my new body has been a lot harder than I thought. It's so foreign to me.

PJTP...I'm back! Weekends are MADE for enjoying! Agreed! When I was researching a new car, I looked at the Toyota Prius - but it was SO much more expensive, I just couldn't afford it. I did get something more efficient than my old car, but I wish I'd been able to go the full distance so to speak... NSV...sitting at my desk with my legs crossed at the knee and my leg isn't going to sleep. It's actually COMFORTABLE to sit like this... Never thought I'd be able to say that...I do my band!:w00t:

I don't sign in here very often, but since it had been awhile, I thought I'd check in. It's a year ago this month, that I had my last fill. That last one was so restrictive, I have not wanted to get another. Maybe I should go for a check, but I don't know that I want more added. I only managed to lose about 20lbs since that fill. I wonder if this happens to others. I lose 2-3lbs, then gain a little back at "that time of the month", after that, I may lose a little but then it remains the same weight for several days, before starting to lose again. It is very, slow. It's like two steps forward, one step back (that kind of thing). It is frustrating, but, as long as I keep heading in the right direction, I'm okay. The good news is, that I have been buying smaller clothes. Medium tops and smaller pants/jeans/skirts. Bottoms are mostly 10s, but I have at least one or two 8s, one size 9/10 and some just say Medium. I even have one pair of jeans I got at a yard sale, that I'd had hanging as my inspirational jeans, that I fit into!!!! I just about fell over, when they zipped up, because they're size 6. That brand's sizing has to be off. I've got other size 8s that I can't get even closed to zipped. It has also been nice that people have obviously noticed that I'd lost more weight, because they comment on it. I've heard 'skinny', 'thin' and 'svelte'. That last one gave me a good laugh, as nobody has ever called me svelte. So, as of right now, I am 23lbs from my official goal. As I've always said though, we'll see how it goes. If I feel great and am happy with a little bit higher, I'll be good. I do not want to be wafer thin. I think we should have 'some meat on our bones'. Stick thin is just not cute. If you're frustrated like me, just hang in there and work for it. Don't give up. It is hard, but I would've never gotten as far I as have, without the band. It's one of the best decisions I've ever made.

It's weigh-in day! All those participating get your updates in today and I'll update the board tomorrow. The following is the correct update format (and, as usual, is my update for the week) C 236 (-71 lbs total, -1.5 this week) I've switched back to weighing in on Wednesdays again. I just couldnt stand weighing on Sunday and posting that weight the following Wednesday.. just knowing that I might have lost more! *laughs* It's so exciting to see everyone's NSVs and Kathy! Your scales finally budged? Yay! I know you have to be seeing the changes in your clothes and body. With all the exercise you're doing and no weight change you must be putting on some nice lean muscle and THAT is awesome! Funny!! EIGHT POUNDS?! AMEN SISTER! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

ok...total NSV!! I went to Torrid to look at a new bra, and picked up two new corsets and a cold shoulder shirt and they are A SIZE 3 (20-22)!!!!! OMG OMG OMG Now in pants I still wear a 32, but I think that is going to change majorly when I have the apron removal. OMG OMG And I look hot in the corset! And even hotter in the red cold shoulder top! I am so happy. I can't wait for this weekend!

Thanks everyone! Clothes do not lie. The scale can be discouraging at times, and I've heard so many people say they don't FEEL any different, but we can't deny the way our clothes are fitting - or rather, NOT fitting! DeAnn - I'm so sorry to hear that the gas is bothering you so much. I remember going through that and it really does suck. I also couldn't get down 1/2 cup of any liquid in one sitting for about a week. The swelling will go down soon. Just keep sipping all you can, and move around a lot to help with the gas. Grats on your NSV Kristin! Love y'all!

Aww Heathergurl:clap2: You are doing fantabulous hon. I personally can't wait to see your new do. I love pictures. I love reading success stories, NSV's and your "shampoo knocking" story reminded me that last night as I got out of the shower.......the towel actually wrapped around me now. :heh: It was a normal large towel. Before the weight loss.. I had to use the towel to only cover the front of me b/c it wouldn't completely wrap around. My butt would always be exposed (ewww):speechles The towel is not completely closed.. in the front, there's a lil opening still... but it wraps around my waist and chest. God it feels good. **Seeing changes here and there makes the drive even less painful for me**

Skye, you have put the BIGGEST smile on my face, my friend! This is exactly the kind of thing I've been waiting to hear from you and the very thing I've been praying for. Peace for your family. What a wonderful little oasis for you, your hubby and your boys to take a breather from all of the stress you guys have been under. I'm so so happy for you. And your NSV - Wow! 12s and 14s! OMG! I can hardly wait to experience that again! Your doctor is right, you ARE doing a great job. In fact, considering what you're going through at the same time, you're doing above and beyond great - you're do an amazing job hun. *big hugs* To all in the Challenge - It's fine by me if you keep score cards offline and update every few days. I think that's a great idea! Mystjin - I'm so happy about your surgery date girl! Have a wonderful time in Orlando! Put all of this out of your mind and just have a blast! *hugs* Maggie - w00t! Almost 60 pounds! You go girl!! :clap2: By the way, how are the "Twins"? Skbishop - No worries hun, do what you can but family certainly comes first. Try the printed card and update when you have some free time. Sammari - I'm happy you joined the Challenge! I'll get you added to the members page (first post on page one of this thread).
