    Menstruation after VSG

Idk. I even told him that I didn’t use it for BC (husbands had vasectomy) so technically I COULD go off it but would rather not and he said it wasn’t necessary.

    Menstruation after VSG

Totally agree. And by effectiveness, I meant that it doesn't keep your period regular. I use by BC continuously and was so bummed when I had to stop it. Periods after stopping BC are no joke.

    Menstruation after VSG

I had to stop by BC pill a month before surgery per my surgeon. The pill is not as effective post surgery due to hormone fluctuation, and rapid weight loss. So your cycle will be irregular.

    Menstruation after VSG

I am five weeks out and on the BC pill to regulate my period. I have been having breakthrough bleeding daily ever since surgery. Not enough to need any products, just enough to notice on the tissue every time I go pee. I am glad to know that it’s probably surgery related cause I was beginning to wonder.
  5. I am 5 weeks PO and having “hunger” feelings in my mouth which I believe are bc of stomach acid. Does anyone else have these- and what did you take? I’m confused if I should be taking Pepcid or Prilosec? I know they have different main ingredients!

    Any March Surgeries?

So now I’m almost 2 weeks post op on Wednesday, feeling a little soreness in my belly area kinda near my belly button. It’s annoying, anyone else experiencing this annoying pain and what it could be? Wanna reach out to y’all before asking my doctor bc I feel like I’ve asked him a million question since my surgery lol. Any feedback would be appreciated 🤗

    Increased Anxiety since surgery

Hi All! I’m 7 days post op. I had extreme anxiety and restless leg syndrome for the first few days. I literally got up day zero after surgery and walked the halls bc I couldn’t stay still. When I came home every hour on the hour for the first few days I was waking all around my house driving my family insane. Thankfully it went away. Now my struggle is I can’t drink anything cold it has to be room temperature or warmer all cold makes me feel like I have little cramps. Is anyone else having problems with cold things?

Girl.....hes still ur man, he loves u and loved u when u were extra curvy til now....but men also like what they see too, it's pretty basic. My man called me fat in a arguement once (I said a few low blows too) and I cried bc he was mean, the scale said 285 (ummm yeah! Lol I'm fat!) Men say and do stupid **** all the time (so do we) but if it bothers u that much, talk to him! He may have not even thought in depth about the comment and was just appreciating how hot u are now [emoji91] good luck girly [emoji177] Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Hungry hungry hungry

Goals shouldn’t be based on pounds lost bc our bodies are unpredictable. Goals should be activity-based. Also, your doctor sounds abusive and I think you know that. No one is going to make you see him and he cannot reverse your operation as punishment. Find a new doctor but in the meantime, drop this guy.

    Hungry hungry hungry

I’m 4 weeks out and some days I can eat n other days I can’t bc I get so full. I am sticking to the plan and I am losing but really super slow. The first two weeks postop I lost only 5 pounds. Now I’m only losing like a pound a week I don’t think he cut up enough of my stomach either. I don’t know when week five comes I don’t know how I’m going to stay 1200 cal or less. It’s all about the food not about the exercise or the water it’s mostly about your food. So change it up
  12. Hi, I'm sure this has been asked already but I am now 9 days post op and 3 days ago I started running a low temp 99 to 100 out of nowhere in the middle of the afternoon. I feel fine and haven't had any issues but am worried bc it has happened every day since from early afternoon to evening. The highest has been 100.2 and if I take tylenol it goes away. My surgeon said if it goes between 101 and 101.5 to go to an urgent care for bloodwork and CT but if no other sypmtoms then he thinks it isn't something to be too worried about. I have my post op follow up in 4 days and am hoping it goes away by then. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Thanks

How many people do you have on "Ignore" here?

I only had the one know-it-all who couldn’t let a post go by without bragging about his success and flat out fat shamed people here. I didn’t ignore him because I wanted to be vocal against his bs. Reported every time he crossed the line and he’s gone now or lurking under yet another new name. I personally find it hard to pick the right balance of positive support vs “you need to get your shit together” type advice to give. Some people need one vs the other and its not really possible to always know who needs what to get through the issues they (sometimes) create for themselves. This is a wonderful forum and overall it’s got a great balance of people willing to offer real help, real advice. I don’t use Facebook but my wife shows me the crap-show on some of those gastric groups and it’s simply absurd compared to this place…. for the most part….

    Nausea

Long post but I wanted to provide what happened to me to try and help!!! Weeks 4-6 were exactly like that for me. Couldn’t even keep dissolvable zofran down. (Bizarre I know). Was getting like 100-150 calories & 15 g protein a day... if that. I ended up GAINING 6 lbs because my body was starving itself. Also ended up at urgent care with a banana bag 3x bc of it 😕 Basically I was told I had 2 options. Wait it out, or he goes in with the scope. I said no thanks to the scope. I’m at 57 days post-op now, I’m eating (750+ cals/90+ g protein a day) and cooking and smelling things again. That nauseous pit in my stomach and sinking feeling in my throat that was there 24/7 is gone! It just happened. I woke up one morning and my mom was cooking eggs and I asked for some. Wasn’t nauseous like I used to walk through the house holding my breath while there was food being prepared. Ate 1/2 of a medium egg and slowly built up my textures and flavors and added on to my meals from there! It’s tedious and it’s annoying and we have all these goals and rules, and we want to do it right so these things SUCK; but just stay the course, don’t get discouraged (I know that’s hard leaning over a trash can 5+ times a day, been there) but do the best you can with how your body is reacting post op, and hopefully with a little time and trial and error, it’ll get better like mine did. Have either of you tried like swansons sipping bone broth? It sounds weird but is packed with protein, it does have a slight flavor and I add garlic powder and a pinch of Cajun seasoning, but I was able to tolerate little sips of it at a time when I was sick! It REALLY helped. I couldn’t do warm stuff for 6 weeks so I let it cool to room temperature, but some people the warm is really soothing and good for them! Also, bari surgeon, NUT, and the 2 MDs I saw at urgent care all agreed that when you’re in that nauseous can’t keep anything down stage post op, the thing you should be focusing on isn’t protein intake or calories, but rather fluids. I didn’t even think about that. I’d get upset the protein shake made me sick; and quit putting anything near my mouth for hours. Trust me, severe dehydration is TERRIBLE. My lips and face were literally bleeding. My fever was over 102 and my pressure bottomed out. No hyperbole, one of those 3 days I drug myself to urgent care, I thought I was literally dying. I got on Amazon immediately and bought a 32 oz tumbler and I just keep it filled all day long and sip away. Not saying this to scare you, just want you to try and get your fluids in!! Sorry for being longwinded, I know how y’all feel and I just wanted to provide some encouragement!! It gets better!! I didn’t think it would, but the difference between week 6 and week 8 have been light years. AND once I started hitting my calorie, fluid, and protein goals again last week, I dropped 4 of the 6 lbs I gained in caveman mode! If y’all need anything, please feel free to PM me!

    Upcoming Surgery in May!

Hi! I also have PCOS and I am going to go with the sleeve hopefully soon! My surgeon explained that for PCOS the sleeve is a better option for me  bc they remove the stomach hormones and if for some reason the sleeve doesn’t get the desired results then can always do a bypass down the road.  Something I just learned is dairy is not good for PCOS. I thought I was doing good drinking Premier Protein shakes and the dietician said to reduce dairy and do plant based Protein with almond milk fit shakes( Vega Protein Powder is sooo good) bc dairy cause inflammation and other trouble for pcos. Hopefully once you learn more and your test results come back you can make the best decision for yourself! Keep me posted on your journey! Good luck!

Yup!!! For about 2 weeks I had to be VERY careful and within a quick dash (shuffle) of my bathroom It settled down to stools which resemble those of babies fed on breast milk ( If you know you know.!!!) Now I'm on soft/normal foods I have to be careful of constipation But still get what my surgeon classes "overflow diarrhea " but I had troubles with this and ibs-d pre surgery too Be carful of your fluids. If you feel dehydrated get help Take care...it passes

    Clothing Problems! What to do?

i was lucky and had some clothes from when i lost about 70lbs a year before surgery.. but for the "inbetween" times when i just need something that fits, i go to walmart. i found a nice pair of jeans for $5 there. and i agree w/the belt sentiment.. but i know they can be uncomfortable, so anything with drawstrings help too. goodwill is also a good place to try your luck. or even tjmaxx bc they can have some good sales.

I am not the person you were debating with. I just added this because you seemed not to be familiar with the quote she was referencing. And I do find this law enforcement officer's language ("fed up", "at the end of his rope" and "a really bad day") to be minimizing and dismissive of what Robert Long did. Whether that's because he's male is up for debate, but I do find the tone to be excusing.

Just clarifying where the "having a bad day" comment came from: "“He was pretty much fed up and kind of at the end of his rope. Yesterday was a really bad day for him and this is what he did,” Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Jay Baker said Wednesday. He was describing the 21-year-old man accused of killing eight people, mostly Asian and almost all women, in a rampage across three Atlanta-area spas." https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/03/17/jay-baker-bad-day/
  24. I’ve told my boss bc I was just out on a 6 wk leave for shoulder surgery... and I need to take a few hrs off of work here and there for dr appts to get the wls approved thru insurance. I told my mom, (she’s a nurse too) who will help me thru the process... and lastly I told my sister and BIL. My sister is skinny and very weight conscience. She works out, eats healthy, etc. I wouldn’t be able to hide my restricted eating, having surgery, and all that comes with it. We are close so it’s nice to have my sister and mom to support me and talk about it with. Other than that, I’m telling NO ONE. I’m fortunately working from home thru Sept and I should have my surgery (Est July) before. People at work, family I bump into will get the...”I’ve been eating healthy, cut my portions way back, and exercising”... that’s all they need to know. If they want more specifics, “ then add high protein, low carb, no sugar... say it’s Keto”... that’s not even a lie. It’s no ones business. You don’t owe anyone an explanation. It’s your journey!
  25. I had surgery at 7:30 am on the 22 nd and stayed until the 24 th. I had so much swelling my water wouldn’t pass. It was upsetting bc I wanted to be out the night of surgery. But it was something I couldn’t control.
