  1. Morning.... I start off with a glass of water while i'm getting ready for work and add my Vitamins... b-12, multi, Omega 3, Biotin, thyroid, Vitamin D (take Calcium and multi later in the day) about 10am I have my 30 gram Protein drink. I buy them at costco Premium brand. 160 cals. at noon I usually eat at work with some of the other gals. I eat things like boca burger, Tuna salad, meat loaf, meat balls, grilled chicken. It doesn't take much to fill me up. Some times I just eat the meat out of a Lean Cuisine. Like the Meat balls and Pasta minus the pasta... I leave work at 3pm to pick my son up from school. If I'm having a energy crash i will snack on pre-packaged beef Jerky. 120 cals. around 5-6 pm I have another snack of pistachios if needed to hold me over till dinner. Dinner will be another round of meat. Fish, Shrimp, chicken, beaf, Turkey, ground taco meat, etc.... I only add carbs if i'm out to eat. If we go to eat Mexican i will allow myself 2 chips with salsa. My husband and I share Fajita's minus the tortillas, & cheese etc. I drink at least 100 once's of water a day.... i'm always drinking something. The more i drink the more i want to drink. It is key... not only does our skin need it, it helps flush out our bodies. i also make sure the plumbing is clean... if i'm having problems by Friday I take a mild laxative like Delcolax and let it do its work overnight. I think what helps me is... i don't have issues with Protein drinks. I like water, and i'm not a sugar addict. If you want to know if you body is burning fat Ketosis strips help. The strips let You will know when you are in Ketosis (burning fat). I buy my strips at Target so i'm sure you can get them an any store that has diabetic supplies. I hope this helps.... Let me know if you need me to elaborate....
  2. I weigh every few days, I hit a platue after loosing 30 pounds that lasted over two weeks....I just got discouraged. Then after not weighing for a couple of days, I stepped on and sha-zam! Down four pounds. Soooo now It is every few days. Sometimes I can feel it, that I'm a little lighter...and that is when I'll weigh!
  3. Definitely, it is normal. Like others have said, you are only taking in liquids, so your body isn't producing much solid waste right now. If you are getting in all of your liquids, then your stools will most likely be pretty loose as well.
  4. Last year I went through the process and at the end got turned down by my insurance who said that although I met all the critiria they felt I could loose the weight on my own? I'm trying again now and was wondering if anyone had a similar experience or any ideas. I have united Healthcare choiceplus in Florida. Thanks

I have BCBS too. Hopefully your process is as painless as mine. I'm only 5 weeks out from surgery. I'm losing slooooow, but I just tell myself my extra skin will have an easier time going back to normal. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. The "wait a year or two" advice is outdated; now, surgeons simply want your weight to be stable, and for you to be at a good BMI (though some will operate well before most should consider surgery). I think wearing compression garments (I like UnderArmour) is really helpful--it provides good support so that redundant skin and an otherwise pendulous abdomen does not strain the back. But it does not do anything structurally.
  7. I weight myself every day. Sometimes i do not feel like I am loosing at all when I miss a day or two. Then I get on the scale and it is a great surprise - I loose pound by pound. Sometimes I stay on the same number for a couple of days which does make me feel like I am doing something wrong and I know that is not the case but eventually my numbers go down. So, every day...

    DON'T Give up!!

Good Morning fellow bandsters!! Just felt like i needed to beep in this morning and say a little something about being banded. I was banded 10 months ago. The first 8 months of being banded I was ''stuck'' in the fear mode because a lot of the time when i ate I started that horrible sliming that we all have once in a while. I knew I was eating too much although it was way over 1/2 less of what i would normally had eaten prior to being banded. That fear kept me stuck for 8 months without getting the proper fill-thus, weight loss was really low for being 8 months out. 30 lbs to be exact. I was afraid to go back to my doc because i didint want to hear how bad i was doing so i just keep doing what wasnt working----i finally gave up the fight and went to my doc and got another fill and last week got another fill again. i was down 16.7 lbs inbetween fills which was only 4 weeks. I can't tell you how grateful I am to be loosing weight and to be finally ''working'' the band the way it was intended to be worked. Sure, I still occasionally get that sliming deal if i eat too fast or something that doesnt agree w/ my band, but I'm loosing and that's what i signed up for----so, I guess what i'm saying is don't be afraid of fills-talk to your doctor and let him know what is going on.....I'm so grafteful I did .....i'm 10 months out and down almost 60lbs with another 50 to go, but as long as i'm honest with myself i know without a doubt that i will make it!!!! PCOS/Endometriosis

Fellow PCOS’er here too... I’m only 6 weeks post op but I’ve had two periods so far. I had not had one in 18 months, then one week into my pre op diet I started. It wasn’t too bad. Then 36 days later I started again. This time, holy hell...it was like a damn broke loose. TMI. I called the doctor it freaked me out. I bled less/clots after having multiple kids! They said it was totally normal and it’s just the crazy hormones. I am hoping for more symptom relief as time goes on!
  12. For me it is very dangerous territory to set a timeline on the number of pounds lost. That can lead to some really destructive and counterproductive behavior. Are you tracking your food? Are you getting in all of your protein and fluids? What is your protein target? Are you avoiding starches, added sugars, and fried foods? Are you taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed? Are you exercising? It sounds to me like you are doing fine, especially if you have noticed that you are losing inches. Please resist the urge to restrict your protein, it won't help you lose the weight your surgeon expects and will slow things down even more. Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall I'm meeting a minimum of 64 oz water, 65 g protein, and have been tracking my food. I take Snacks of a cheese stick and deli meat to work and have a 4oz meal prepared for lunch or dinner and am lucky to get get half of it down before I'm full. (Experienced that "one bite too much" too often now)... I refuse to eat anything fried and no bread. The only starch I'll have are these protein enriched mashed potatoes which my NUT gave me the recipe for and I do keep track of everything. Even the accidental bite of ranch dressing yesterday at my second job as I filled the salad dressings. (Immediately felt awful and knew it was a bad habit that had to be broken) Vitamins, Calcium, and hair-skin-nails, all of them are being taken as they should daily. Getting to the gym isn't always easy but I do go at least 4 times per week and walk another 7 miles a day. (4 at work, 3 at home). It's driving me nuts that I'm at this stall and the scale is going up even just a little. Sent from my iPhone
  13. Happy Wednesday my fellow sleevers!! So I am 6 months post op as of 10/10 and down 92 lbs!!! I am so happy with my results and I am in completely bliss with my sleeve!! Anyhow! So please hear me out, lately I have been feeling so unmotivated to work out. I am still watching what I eat, but have noticed I can eat more. This scares me, I put myself on a liquid diet to try and "shrink" my pouch and kind of reset. This helped, I lost 5 lbs in 2 days and I was ecstatic, but now I'm back to my regular diet and I gained a pound. I'm not worried over the pound I know i will loose it, my concern is how easy it was to gain it and how slow my weight loss has been now. I still have about 100 lbs to loose to be at my goal weight, and at this point this seems almost impossible. If you all could share some words of encouragement, tips, rants anything! Lol I would appreciate it. Thank you all!!!
  14. That's great you are finally going to a psychiatrist. The know much more about issues like bipolar than your family doc. I take 2 meds for bipolar. One possibly causes weight gain but it didn't for me. I lost steadily on it. I would take the meds prescribed for a couple weeks and see how it goes. If you are doing all the right things and still don't loose than you can decide what to do. For me, I'd rather stall in weight loss for a bit than suffer with deppression/anxiety. Good luck!
  15. I'm 32 and I was just approved by insurance yesturday! I will be sleeved in December they are calling me tomorrow to set the date. I'm hoping for the first week of december so I don't loose holiday pay but hey whatever I'm just happy this is finally happening! What's up fellow 30 somethings! Excited can you tell?

    I am a lying liar

Hello all, I usually don't post but lurk and I have enjoyed reading this forum, but now I need some advise please. I feel like such a liar and here is my problem, I was banded 2 years ago and weighed 325 pounds I now weigh 150 pounds and am 5 pounds away from goal. I work out at the gym everyday and eat healthy as well. I have 5cc's in my 10cc band. Lately I have had some people who see me at the gym everyday and say way to go you look great and I always say thank you but recently I have had 2 women come up to me and tell me that they have been watching me and that they remember how big I was when I started and that I motivate them and then they ask me what are you doing? Here is where I become a liar, I don't tell them about the band I always wanted to be private about it. Big mistake I feel. The only people who know about my band are my husband, (who is banded) my kids, and my side of the family (who live out of town). When people walk by and say way to go I didn't feel the need to say I'm banded. But with these 2 ladies it feels different they are heavier and really seem like they are looking for answers on how they can loose weight. I told them how I eat and how much I workout but I feel so wrong! I remember when I was looking for answers. So I need advise on how do I come clean with people I meet at the gym and have talked to without having to switch to a new gym lol?
  17. They r for hair nails and skin. U take 5 drops in am and 5 drops in pm with a little bit of juice. They don't taste too great so that's why I use juice to hide the taste. surgery date: 7/30/12
  18. It's completely normal to have post surgery fears. Just keep urself and ur mind busy it helps a lot. Also make a list of all the things u wanna do once u loose weight and anytime you face a challenge pull that list out and read it for a reminder of why ur doing this for urself. Best wishes!!! Struggling After Gallbladder Removal :(

Unfortunately loose stool is a side effect of the gallbladder surgery. I had mine removed in June and even still sometimes can have them. It does get a little better over time...the urge to 'go' has not changed and in fact i have to go almost immediately. :-( don't think that will change. Sorry for the gross ness of the info

    Pre band jitters

Sultana ~ I can totally understand what you are saying. I will be banded on November 25th and there are a lot of things that are running through my mind........a lot of what - if's. But then I think of all the diets that I have tried and failed and then I realize by being banded I have nothing to loose trying this......but weight. For every one person that you hear that isn't loosing weight there are 5 more that are. Granted, the weight loss is slow but I would rather loose it slow and HEALTHY then to do it fast and become sick. I am 5'5 and weight 303 and if I loose 5 pounds in a month then that is 5 lbs that I don't have and are gone forever!!! As long as you follow the rules you too will loose weight!!! Don't worry about that part cause it WILL work for you. But if you aren't sure of it then I would say (and this is my opinion) don't do it until YOU feel confident in your decision.

    A throwback day

I know what you mean Jennye. I I just enjoy days I can eat more, because sometimes it's hard getting enough down.. Lately I have been snacking a lot on snicker ice cream bars, but I dont feel bad at all There is still plenty of time to loose the remaining 30 or 40 pounds, I am just giving my body the time to adjust to the weightloss....
  23. I'm really sorry to hear about this. I need to hear these types of things because I think people get so caught up in this idea that this will save them from everything and you're still the same person in the end... now with a tool under your skin that you can use or not. I guess a good way to look at this would be, that if you mentally got set to challenge your relationship with food, you'd have something already inside (literally) to help you do it. I'm really afraid of this being a problem for me. I have such a strong relationship with food and tastes and it's such a part of my life. I'm really going to have a struggle with this.

    Four month post op pic.

Thanks ladies! I feel good (physically). I have days that I'm tired and lethargic... Then I realize I've missed my vitamins or skipped out on protein (easy fixes! Lol)... Mentally, I still feel like the fat girl in the room. I know I've lost 76lbs, but I still feel just as fat. My mind hasn't caught up with my body yet, I guess. My skin is getting so loose. I can pull my tummy skin out so far. It's weirdddddd. Lol
