My bmi was 53.1 and I've lost 86 pounds i had rny gastric bypass dec 2014. At first I was bummed it was slow but now I'm extremely happy bc it gives my skin the chance to shrink with it as it goes so I don't have alot of issues with that thankful and I hope I can keep it up i have 110 left to go till my goal.. Dr said as long as I get to 200 he would be happy but I'm pushing for 145. I'm currently at 253. Good luck and congrats on your journey

I had surgery 3-18-15, I have lost since February 1st, I was originally going to have surgery 2-1115, but had gotten bronchitis . Anyway I have lost 52lbs. But for some reason I feel like I am at a stand still . I went to surgeon last week and got first fill 2cc's. I had only lost 3lbs. In Aprox 5 weeks . I am not going to quit , but I actually feel like I can eat more now then before the fill, only the 2nd day it was hard to get things down. I eat a lot of soft foods ,eggs, yougurt, oatmeal I do eat chicken like every night vegetables salad . What am I doing wrong ? ?? And if I can just help 1 person , don't tell anyone that u are getting banded. All I hear how much did you lose now ? Do you exercise ? Ect.big mistake , only should have told spouse andchild. Everyone else is just nosy . The biggest mouth of anyone , is my mom. It's to late for me not to mention it . I feel like a failure losing 3lbs. Certainly not saying that . I get frustrated trying to explain how it works , that it's up to me,the band is :(a tool. They are all under the impression that you will drop it because of the band. Getting fed up !

Received my call today saying Cigna (great west) denied. I finished the 3 month weigh-ins and all my drs appointments. The coordinator told me they denied bc cigna requires 3 months that total 89 days and they sent my papers in too early. So now I have to go back in for another weigh in and they will send a second time. Anyone else have this happen? Should I be worried that they have to submit it again?? Thanks!

Great West through Cigna PPO insurance
kdtaylor replied to AllisonK1986's topic in Insurance & Financing
I do! I just had all my paperwork sent into Cigna and it was denied bc they sent it too early. I did the 3 month check-ins but you have to also make sure it equals 89+ days or they will deny you. -
Does anyone's insurance pay for a tummy tuck. I think the 2 areas that will concern me the most are my upper thighs and my stomach due to rashes and chafing. My boobs don't worry me too much bc hell just put a bra on. But thanks for all the advice!

SURGEON'S AIRHEAD OFFICE STAFF
jane13 replied to LousPeachy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I see and endocrinologist and if it wasn't for the fact that I like him, I would never go back. The staffing at the front desk is incompetent and I get irritated every time I go. I have BCBS and I pay more for each visit (30) than my hubby does (25). I have asked about why I get charged an extra 5 and got some BS story. Then hubby got charged 30, once, and he asked why now he understands why I complain about them. hubby says its because the girls like him better I have seen the doctor for about 3 years and cant get them to correct my home phone number. I gave up after the 3rd time. -
Great West Insurance thru Cigna PPO

Thanks daisee! I have arthritis and sjogrens since I was 15 and pcos so I have documentation from many Drs regarding my morbid obesity. I don't have a specific letter, but my pcp sent over the last 3 years of my medical records and I will get Obgyn and rheumatologist to do as well. My first appt with the dr is on July 2. So I'm hoping everything goes smoothly and these 3 months fly by. I'm also praying my copay isn't too high. Bc anything more than 2k I can't do the surgery since I'm already in debt ????. -
First visit with the PCP today, a month out from surgery. Off BS meds immediately after surgery and she is reducing my HBP meds. Did bloodwork to check cholesterol...will see when results come in. Feeling great!

Just made decision!
SleeveandRNYchica replied to PinkieD's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have FEPBlue aka Fed BC/BS basic. There is a 3 month nutrition requirement, 2 year weight history, psychological exam, and letter of necessity. Your surgeon may also require other test such as EKG, endoscopy, labs, sleep study. It is best if you have it a blue distinction center, they pay more. -
I made a call to my insurance carrier Federal BC/ BS...oh so very much information. Seems like all hospitals farther away.

Sad about missing food
DreamWeaver44 replied to Mcgann320's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I so relate to this... I always inhaled my food, and NEVER left food behind. I'm almost a month post-op and that's been the hardest part! I tried to eat a whole egg mashed with mustard and got painfully sick. It's frustrating because it's like you want to say to your stomach, "Are you kidding?" I used to feed you 3 big macs and fries and now you won't let me eat a single egg in one sitting? And you start to get down, and think, "If I could just eat like regular skinny people - I would be happy to do THAT now!" But we are here bc (or I am) bc I had no self-control. The surgery is a drastic measure, but I shouldn't fool myself, it took that to stop me from eating myself to death. It's hard to accept... but it's getting easier every day. I have to learn to say, "That tasted amazing... and I can have some more at my next meal maybe or tomorrow." (one day at a time) -
Hey guys, I have gotten the weirdest thing. I got a sebaceous cyst under my boob in my bra line and it became infected too, so they put me on antibiotics. They had to partially drain it this morning and it HURT so badly! Omg. So it actually had breast tissue in there with melted fat. WTF? Sorry that this is too much info, but for goodness sakes, the cyst is almost like the only boob I have. Ugh! When I lay down, my boobs are like 2 puddles of wrinkled skin. I'm DEF getting a breast lift/ enhancement this winter. I've gone from a 40DD to a 36C and that would be fine if they didn't keep trying to fall out of the bottom of my bra bc they are so saggy. Good grief- can I just change my underwear size instead?!

Hey there September sleevers! Any one out there?
jobillandjosh replied to notforthefaint's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I should go in Sept as well. I have BC/BS with no supervised diet window or weight loss required prior to surgery. I do have some work and family obligations though so Sept made the most sense with back to school and a big work commit out of the way. My doctor didn't think the timeframe would be a problem. -
Any one from Texas?
Erato Calliope replied to Sarah Harrison's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
As far as feeling normal again it took me just a bit over a month to feel normal. And I never walked hunched over after my surgery so I'm not sure about that one. I concur. It's been 4 weeks from my surgery today. I just went back to work. It really took 2.4-3 weeks before I felt semi-normal. I was pretty shocked and disappointed initially bc it seems that many people have an easy recovery. I normally bounce back quickly but this was not the case with the sleeve. I never regret doing it, and I was very prepared for what could happen, I just always thought what could happen would not happen to me. Again, I had no major leaks but I did pull an internal stitch (worst pain I've ever had), had hibernation syndrome, and hit the annoying "3 week stall" in the middle of week 2 for a out 10 days. Stay positive. It will get so much better and easier. Just listen to what your body needs because your body will speak to you in a language only you can understand. Hope all is well! -
I have a friend who is set to have the endoscopic procedure in July. We are in boston and there is only one surgeon who performs this procedure and her insurance has denied coverage bc they say the procedure is still experimental. She had rny about 13 yrs ago and had success but weight regain after two pregnancies. The dr explained that the outlet (stoma?) was significantly enlarged and food was just washing through leaving her always hungry.

Garden Of Life protein powder
jess9395 replied to jess9395's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I haven't found single serving sizes yet but maybe I will try a few more places looking for them! I like to flavor Greek Yogert with my Protein powder as well. Interesting on the texture/suspension thing! I think I could handle that. I often drink my Protein shake in a Blender Bottle and shake before drinking with my Matrix ones bc they can be sandy, so I get what you are saying. Appreciate the feedback! Thanks haven't heard of Lifetime, I will look for it! -
Diabetes and the Sleeve
ShrinkingPeach replied to GossipGirlxoxo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
With pre-op dieting I lost a bit of weight before surgery and I was off my Victoza and down to one 10mg pill of Glipizide. The day of surgery I was told to stop all BS meds. My BS has not been above 123 since. the lowest it has been is 89. I will contonue to check it as I lose to see how it is affected but I am off those pills. I was sleeved on May 15, 2015 -
IN PROCESS OF REVISION?
lillyD replied to lillyD's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I apologize RICKYT? 4years ago True Results the staff was what was wrong. The nurses who have me fill an unfill were always pokin at me blind tryin to act like they knew my situation. I was always too restricted or toooo loose.. After the first year I couldn't afford all the fills and Unfills and trips back n forth. Honestly the band just wasn't for me. I do know one lady on my FB group whom had a tremendous amount of wt loss w the lapband but out of 64 of us about 5 ppl already had a revision or in the process. I have no self control when it comes to food unless I'm on some form of pill or shot helping my cravings go away. I BELEIVE the sleeve will be better for me. I'm type 2 diabetic so I get all Godzilla when I'm hungry or start getting irritable plus my hormones... Stick to the instructions and wt your food a week in advance no bs. Either you "fail to plan or you plan to fail" Be ahead start measuring and freeze, strength train 7days just so u get in the mental habit. Make this work for you. BEAST MODE BRO ur not like me u can do this regardless who u went through for the lap band. Got any pics ? -

Tacoma/Federal Way St Francis Hospital ANYONE?
AggieSleever posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Has anyone had any experience with St Francis Hospital Federal Way Weight Management program? Drs Haroon Anwar or Troy Houseworthy?? I have BCBS Fed and need to use a "Center of Excellence". There's not a lot of chat about sleeve in this area. I'm a little worried, and would be so grateful for ANY feedback! Thanks! -
I was sleeved March 10. Started period early (day before surgery which I know is common bc of stress). Then in April and May I was normal (30-32 day cycles) but now for June it still hasn't came. I'm not pregnant but a week late. Normal? Going to ask my surgeon in Wednesday but wanted others thoughts.

Repeatedly overeating
stefanie324 replied to NoBsVs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
nobsvs you're so right! I say it all the time even healthy food like produce is more expensive than processed food. Things really need to change in this world. prettygal27 Everything else I will reheat and sometimes my family look at me bc I'll eat the same thing for Breakfast lunch and dinner. For instance scrambled eggs. My thing is making it simple for me and that's the easiest. Or I'll make ground chicken and reheat it when I want some and add some bruschetta to make it moist. -
Repeatedly overeating
stefanie324 replied to NoBsVs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5 weeks post op and I sometimes find myself eating more than I should. It's weird because part of me will sit there and be so thankful I'm eating a lot less than I used to and then the other part of me is feeling guilty because I think I ate too much. My biggest issue is the Protein Drinks. I basically stopped doing them. I only lost 2lbs in the past two weeks so I am thinking I may have to start having them again. My doctor said right now the Protein Shakes are the nutrition. The food is only so I don't feel like I'm going crazy from not eating. I have tried a lot of food that I shouldn't try yet because I really thought I was passed the leaking point but I found out on Friday that I am not ????. Of course I now worry about leakage and wonder if I did any damage but I am hoping for the best. I definitely need to start meal prepping and measure and only stick to that specific amount. Another thing I find is if you do go out to eat the waiter/waitress always think you didn't like your food bc "you barely touched it". I know places have a kids menu but that is usually filled with burgers, grilled cheese, spaghetti, or Mac and cheese. I wish restaurants had something on their menu for people who are "not so hungry" lol. I would love to order a smaller portion of a fish meal and not have to spend $16.
