Question About Diet
SoccerMomma73 replied to Mama2girls's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was private pay and as long as I had medical records showing I'd been obese for a while, that's all that was needed. Went to my first seminar late October, had surgery 6 weeks later...but the doc did require some weight loss in the mean time. -
I Got A Surgery Date, September 18Th!
chunkypudding replied to chunkypudding's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks! It has already started to blur together- sleep study, weight checks, psych visits, etc... Will be nice to get to go a few weeks with no doctors at all. After all, life keeps going on around me. Isn't that why I'm doing this? If all goes well, I should lose most of my weight by spring next year. I can't wait for swimming, fishing, hiking, and camping again! -
I Have A Date For My Gastric Sleeve Surgery - February 22 !
indi1 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't see a February 2012 sub-folder in the "monthly" topics...I was approved Dec 13 and finally got a date yesterday of 2/22 !!. Boy was that a loooooong road. They are supposed to email my pre op diet instructions next week. -
It should last about a week

Once you have clearance for raw veggies you can eat anything. With my doctor that's 6 weeks. i have some leftover protein bars from my pre-op diet and will supplement with those as snacks when I get to 6 weeks. The KetogenX bars are pretty good and Ideal Protein has a few that are pretty amazing too.

It will get better! It will get better! It will get better. The first week everything is slow going. Just try to stay hydrated, don't worry about anything else. Week two things will start going a little faster. It won't take half an hour to take the two tablespoons of Tylenol liquid. I burp constantly when trying to eat even two months out. I did Especially in the beginning though. It is a sign you are trying to fit too much in. I like the gas x pills better than the strips. I also had a lot of acid. Maalox helped a LOT! It will get better. Just make sure you stay hydrated. Super cold stuff went down better for me than warm stuff. You just have to test stuff out and be prepared to vomit, don't push yourself or your pouch. It'll tell you when you're full. Listen to it!! Pain and vomiting follows if you don't listen. It will get better!

Pain in my side
Stacy_Renee replied to Beach Lover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had the same pain, I am almost 3 weeks out. Called my doctor and they said that it is the internal stitch that is dissolving and can cause discomfort. I think I overdid it today, bending and squatting while painting a room, because the pain is a little worse, but feels like a pulled muscle, sort of. If it gets worse, I will call the doctor, but they said almost everyone feels this pain when that one stitch inside begins to dissolve. Hope this was a little helpful! -
Hello! :) Getting Banded Tomorrow Nov 29. Feeling Really Nervous :(
vanessa1215 replied to Bel1014's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 2 weeks out from surgery... The first 7 I didn't lift much at all, however I just went for a check today and have no restrictions on lifting my kids. Don't back out!!! Being on this side of the band, I wouldn't change it for anything! I'm down 32 lbs since starting my process and don't regret it one bit! I have 5 kids ges 14, 10, 7, 3 and 1... I needed to do this so I'm still around to pick up my grandbabies! Small sacrifice now for great rewards later! Don't put it off, where there's a will, there's a way! Prayers for you and good luck! -
Crazy Burping
healthy and happy replied to Jatoya Termon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jatoya, That is perfectly normal. It will go away! My first week after surgery, I was thinking "OMG, what have I done? Is this gonna be like this forever?" But it all went away and I feel absolutely wonderful. I walked a lot during my recovery period and I think that helped a lot. I have seen other ppl post on here that they used Gas-x strips to help relieve the gas as well. I didnt use them myself but other ppl swear by them. Good luck with your journey! Remember the first couple of weeks are the hardest; you will get through it. Keep the big picture in mind! -
I'm 7 weeks out and I still burp constantly.

Insomnia cause - B vitamins?
FluffyChix replied to Sosewsue61's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Oh gosh girl! The damn stalls from hell!!! I wish mine would too. *sob* *sob* I take my multi #1+Ca#1 after breakfast with my thiamine and b12. Then I take my multi#2 with lunch + Ca#2. Then take my Ca#3 with dinner. Then take my Iron at night. I used to take Ca/Mag at night and still do on the days I don't take iron. Presently I do 18mg of Iron + c every other day at night so it doesn't interfere with anything. -
Im hungry :( :( :(
wrightstuff12 replied to donaboss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a little over 2 weeks out and I am hungry two. Still on liquids until Jan 9th. I am allowed yogurt & farina & strained Soups. It was tough over the holidays with company, sweets, good food, and now snowbound. But I thought the hunger monster would have been surgically removed, lol. -
Thanks chris54, that seems like the list I heard before at doctors office in a group sign up after aproval, I speak to him one on one again next week. Also I'll consider what every else seems to like best, like gummies too and maybe not so much the bartiatric Vites.

3 weeks out...at a stall!
ASKSARAH - Sleeve replied to baseballbaby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can't possibly be a stall. A stall is no movement of pounds or inches in over 4 weeks. Your fine. Relax and live your life. -

Thanks so much ladies for helping me out. I have been doing my protein first and counting my calories. I made a appointment to go see my LapBand Dr Next Wednesday the 23 of this month. He said that I need a adjustment some saline added. So I have a week to go! While I continue to do as he and you all instructed me to do.. Much love everyone -
So I'm 10 weeks and 6 days out and well this week I'm gaining weight!!!!!!!! So I'm frustrated.... But I know why I'm gaining but the point is I can eat any and everything with no problem. Ugh so I had some chocolates of course I did it goes down, it goes down really well. Although I have to say it again everything goes down really well. I guess I'm starting to panic this AM when the scale read up a few pounds. I was sick for a week and a half so I haven't worked out either. Ugh... I need to get back on the loosing track. It's just so hard. I know I need to plan my meals but I haven't all week I clearly know what the problem is but I wish my band could kick in to gear with me and stop me from being able to eat so much. Oh and this darn TOM that just won't go away I have been spotting since like a week after surgery and this AKA period was the worst ever it was heavy and I would have bleed threw situations all weekend. WOW as I'm rambiling on here and I'm seeing issues. I wonder if the PMS is making me crave chocolate. AM I a wide open TOM girl, because last months AKA TOM I was tighter then all get out!!!!! ugh My madness is complete MADNESS!!! Let me finish this blog on a good note: I do know that before the band I probably wouldn't have lost these 25 pounds I would have gained them so I'm greatful I was able to have willpower the first 10 weeks. I will try and continue from today to go back to my band rules and not eat other then Protien first, Veggies, Fruits, starches and sweets if I'm still hungry. AND DRINK MY WATER... AND WAIT THE WHOLE 1 HOUR AFTER MEALS to drink... PEACE!!!!!!

For the last couple of days, I am starving within an hour of eating. I'm about 7 weeks post op. I am allowed a regular diet. I don't understand why I feel so ravenous. I tried upping my liquids, and that didn't help.

Anticipation Nation For all of us who are anticipating everything from our sleeve surgery date to becoming our goal weight, let us join forces and stand together! I have been researching this option since early 2011 and never made the move to activily pursue it .... till recently. I had my consultation with the surgeon this week and have more appointments in a couple weeks. I have my mandatory appointments set up with the nutritionist, psychologist and support group meetings, and believe it or not, my surgery date is scheduled for September 4th 2012! It's completely set up, all I need to do is stay determined and follow all the necessary things (medical tests, appointments, meetings etc) and I will be 100% ready to start my new life! Yes, I have some anxiety, but its the good kind. I feel excited and happy to come to a solid decision and know I will be physically and emotionally ready for a healthier new me. Who is with me? Who wants to gain control of their weight and go down this path together with me? We can help each other, and it will be great! :-)

Liquid Consumption After Lap Band Surgery
Poodlelover56 replied to legnarevocrednu's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I was one week post op, I called the dietician because I was concerned that I wasn't taking in enough liquids. She said that since I was urinating normally and not vomiting or sick to my stomach, then I was ok. She reassured me that I was still fresh post op. So, your appetite will come back. Give it time. Dont worry. Happy Thanksgiving! And welcome to bandster land!! -
Hello, I am new to this forum. I was banded 12/20/06. I have lost about 30 pounds. I have been stuck at the same weight for 2 months. I just started working out(last week). I have not been dealing with stress well lately either-wanting to overeat Any suggestions on how to break this plateau or replace stress eating/habit?

Should I start pureed food tomorrow?
AE09 replied to stars94's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know the answer for you. I've noticed that every doctor is different. My surgeon recommends, one week liquids post op, then one week mushies, the one week soft, then regular foods.
