Screen shot of my Amazon Window shopping. (With my future lotto winnings.). I’ll keep them in my Amazon cart. Just in case ! One more outfit and I’m done. I bought this back in June and it is kind of a little loose now. Got it from express. I’m excited to wear it but hopefully here in Florida it still looks seasonally appropriate...

Pattianne replied to CajunSam's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Renjen... you have and are doing great! follow your docs suggestions and I know your stall will come to an end. Keep up the great work. Well happy to say that my stall ended and I am again loosing about 1 to 2 pounds a week! I did nothing special to start loosing again although I did track food and found I was eating around 1200 calories a day. I guess that is a good amount for me. -
HELP !What color shoes to wear with forest green & white ruffled dress??

I'd go with shoes to match your skin tone. Totally appropriate and you'll get a lot more opportunities to wear them. Have a great time! -
Compression Tights and Loose Skin
ahillig replied to Fitby40icandoit's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'll definitely have some loose skin when all is said and done but certainly not going to rush to plastics. If you like leggings Old Navy has some good compression on a budget, if you're ok spending a little more Fabletics has some really cute things in compression as well. Under Armour also has compression and if you have an outlet by you that's the best way to go. I think Spanx are overkill for day to day wear but great for wearing with a formal dress, suit, or other more formal occasions. Those suckers are TIGHT even when you buy the proper size. -
Had my DEXA scan last weekend. It has been a crazy week, so sorry for the delay! I'm overall really pleased with the results, especially from a health perspective! Summary My body fat is 25.4%, about the 19th percentile for my age (40's) My fat is well distributed, again especially important from the health perspective. I have 0.4 lbs visceral fat (around the organs, correlates to a lot of negative health conditions), under 1 lb is considered healthy, according to the DEXA tech. Also have a majority of my trunk fat in my Gynoid region vs. Android 9lower torso vs. upper torso). That type of ditribution also is shown to have health benefits. My bone density is in the 95th percentile or so. Super pleased about that. Bone density is a concern of mine considering my family is long lived, and because I drink a lot of diet soda. I'm a little disappointed my arms and my thighs have a higher fat % than my trunk. I am having plastics, but not removing any fat from those regions, but will be removing fat from my stomach. My arms and thighs also have a significant amount of sag, so getting leaner will exacerbate that. I don't if excess skin is considered lean or fat mass. The two techs gave different answers, so I don't trust either one. Silicone will show up as bone mass in a DEXA. It is denser than lean mass, so gets categorized as bone. I'm glad I got this base line before plastics, so I know my bone mass is in good shape.

Tummy Tuck with liposuction, Inner Thigh liposuction with Fat injections in the Breast
sillykitty replied to okayestmom's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Having done sooo much research looking into my own upcoming plastic surgery, couple of thoughts Check the surgeons before and after pics. It’s good that a nurse trusts the surgeon, but aesthetics of ps are very subjective. Be sure that you like your surgeons results Look into fat transfer into the breasts. It has some definite “cons” so make sure you are comfortable with the trade offs. Belly buttons are generally always created during a tummy tuck. You’d have to tell your surgeon if you didn’t want one I would think. As far as lipo on your thighs, it can exacerbate any sagging skin you have. In the surgeon I spoke to they would only recommend it in combination with a thigh lift Hope that helps. Awesome your surgery can be covered by insurance! -
I had the duodenal switch two years ago. As far as my reaction to sugar, I would say it goes through me looser than other foods. For example, if I drink a soda, I can count on gas and very loose stools. It's not what I consider "dumping," as some people experience. Let's put it this way, if I want something sugary and it looks amazing, it's not enough of a deterrent to make me pass it up. Only my guilt would do that. @BoredCWGood job with explaining the duodenal switch. I have found that I can eat pretty normal portions two years out, which means it still prevents me from overeating and helps me maintain my weight. On the plus side, I don't feel deprived.

Medications after surgery?????? Please advise
AZhiker replied to Linda72's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had the heparin injections in the hospital, but my doc does not require follow up anticoagulation unless there is an underlying problem. A week or so after surgery a couple of the superficial varicose veins in my legs got swollen and very painful. I didn't think it was a big deal and went in for my regular 2 week post op appointment. Doc sent me in right away for a doppler of my legs and turned out I had 3 deep veins that were also affected. The superficial ones were just the tip of the ice berg. So I had to go on Xarelto for several months and see a hematologist. Any future surgeries will require me to be on anticoagulation since this is now part of my history, I did all the right things - walked the halls right after surgery and was actually up to 10,000 steps a day by the end of the first week. I did my leg exercises and kept moving, but it just happens sometimes. Wish I had been given the Lovenox injections for 10 days! As others have said, the needle is very small and short. The injection only goes under the skin into the fatty tissue. They really do not hurt. It's great you have a nurse friend who can maybe guide you through the first couple. After that you will be fine. -
How are people becoming comfortable in there own skin with all the judgement of others
BlueAngelEyes posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi everyone! First off my spelling sucks so sorry for all you reading this. Im venting (you all are my therapist right now) maybe even looking for other peoples opinions on how to deal with family. With this weight loss process there has been alot of ups and downs. Not only with the stalls with the weight loss but emotionally, mentally, physically its hard. I have found that getting the sleeve done and losing the first 50pounds ive started speaking my mind becoming more confident in my own skin with getting thinner but alSo getting angry with family and friends. My family is so judgmental! I dont believe what they think is best in life. I find ive lived in the shadow of my mother's religion for too long scared to do what i want in fear of my family not liking my choices thinking things i want are childish or stupid. I dont want to break our family communication but it seems its going that way. For instance i love tattoos i do, always have and have wanted a few for several years on my back. If i get what i want my sister would tell her kids im a bad example and she would look down on me because she believes its a sin. How do i separate what i want and what my family thinks. My family will blame my weight loss for getting the tattoos i know it. Bothers me! I mentioned how when i lose 30 more pounds hopefully by Christmas this year i want to cut my long hair to my shoulders and do something drastic maybe bleach it blonde. My sister flipped and said why would you do that to your beautiful hair when so many cant even grow it that long. She makes me feel bad and has me second guessing everything. Another topic ive mentioned id like to have a baby in the next year or 2 and she says you almost divorced your husband last year why would you even consider having another baby with him. First off my husband and i are doing a thousand times better now and what we went threw has brought us closer together. Then She said our family has issues so why would i bring another baby with our genes into this world.. its funny she says this when she has alot of kids with the same genes as i do. She also said why would i want to get fat with a baby when i did this surgery to get skinny seems stupid. I find myself wanting to pull away maybe even move out of state to feel like our family can start over with out all there drama. My sister also says soo are you likeing that ur getting thinner faster with your surgery and not having to work for it. It made me really annoyed and wanting to cuss her out. This is a hard process i actually feel like i could of lost more doing weight watchers and the gym than i do now. So many foods upset my stomach. Healthy food is hard to eat. My stomach hates all raw veggies and home made meat i find it hard getting in protein unless its store bought and cooked then it seems to go down fine. Its frusterating! I tend to go to crackers because there soothing to my tummy. Im upset as u can tell i may sound nuts. Lol. Im sick of having to buy acid reducers now. I have to take one everynight to be able to get to bed it burns soo much with out it. Im 32 and feel as if my family has a say on what i do in life. I hate it. I hate there dumb comments. I dont know if i should sit down and talk to my family or just pull away and maybe later in life we will get closer together. My mom doesnt see how rude she is ether. She comes in my house and tells me how much im finally becoming a cleaner person with less clutter and how worried shed been with my clutter in the past few years. My moms worries now with the weight loss ill become a ****. Haha i laugh saying it out loud. When i was obese i wore sweatpants and tank tops with rips in them cause i was soo depressed with myself i didnt care how i looked because it didnt matter i was still fat nothing i did i was still ugly. All she can talk about is negative with me. Im Sick of it. Now every bite i take there watching me and judging what im eatting and how much. They all practicality took a pole saying i was going to eventually gain all my weight back because thats how i am. I feel as if im the black sleep in my family and everything i do isnt good enough. I am looked down on. My husband says ignore them and dont talk to them but i feel like they are the only people i have to talk too. Maybe its normal to have so much judgement with family members. I never noticed before this surgery how much i didnt notice all the criticism and judement friends and family have and how it effects me. I guess i could go on for hours with everything thats upseting me so i guess ill stop now. Sorry for the long vent. Feeling alittle better just by writing it down..... maybe i should start writing in a diary:) -
Liver problems 1 year after Sleeve
ValerieInMexico replied to laura1116's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was part of a research study, while on a medically supervised weight loss program with optifast. this was in the 1990s, long before I had bariatric surgery. It is not the surgery that causes the problem. It is the rapid weightloss. People who loose large amounts of fat, over a relatively short period of time, can have complications with gallbladders. So, it could be prudent to remove it while having weight loss surgery to avoid having to have another surgery. -

Not a big deal. They just go into the chubby area on your tummy - under the skin. I wish I HAD gotten them, as I developed blood clots after surgery. -
Oh thank you, it was 7 days yesterday for me & was loosing 2lb a day but today it’s only part of a 1lb so hopefully it will be same for me 😊

Compression Tights and Loose Skin
Serengirl replied to Fitby40icandoit's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am taking collagen and i have read that drinking a TON of water (80 or more ounces) helps tighten the skin too. Also I dry skin brush and slather my skin in homemade body butter made of cocoa butter coconut oil Shea butter vitamin e and wheat germ oil... - i heave read that keeping the skin moisturized helps it snap back and it works for a lot of pregnant women. at the very least you'll have soft skin. -
Hello everyone I'm new here I'm supposed to be having gastric bypass surgery done soon but I don't know if i should. Because I am a food addict and I fear I will regain. Neither. I injured myself weight-lifting. I hadn't lifted for 3 weeks since my skin removal and went a bit too hard on my first day back. I have arthritis so I have some arthritic changes in my back from over the years, but nothing that would randomly cause this except trauma (like a sports injury aka me being dumb at the gym). I told ALL the doctors I did circuit training and weight lifting and they all ignored that bit. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

To anyone on here whose been successful with an exercise regime tp help lose fat and tighten up with minimal loose skin? I'm 6ft and currently 280lbs started at 322 and I want to lose at least 90% of my fat but need help to get down to 185-195lbs. I'm curious is it best to follow the HIIT keeping your heart rate up high like 130-140bpm to burn fat better?? Is it best to use cardio or should I add weights? Thanks for any tips

Compression Tights and Loose Skin
PlanetHopper replied to Fitby40icandoit's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am still pre-op but I have also looked into loose skin. Loose skin after weight loss surgery is common because your skin does not have the time to adjust to the rapid weight loss. Although everyone is different, you will MOST LIKELY have loose skin and the only true way to completely resolve that issue is through plastic surgery. Based on some Youtubers that are bariatric patients, compression clothing can really help with minimizing the visibility of loose skin. I do recall a Youtuber suggesting that you buy quality compression clothing because it can make all the difference. I am sorry this isn't coming from personal experience but this is the best I know of it so far. You can look on Youtube for first hand experiences from real patients. -
For the men who had 100lbs + to lose i need help!!!
New&Improved replied to New&Improved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's great. I've already lost 40lbs preop and only got 100lbs to go and I'm only 35 but been pretty sedentary for a while which I know I'll have to change and start with a gym regime soon. My arms have a little loose skin. maybe over time as I lose more it might retract. (Let's hope) -
I had gastric sleeve 6 years ago but I cannot get this to change any of my information and it has me as pre-op I am 5 ft 9 in and I lost 133 lbs and just stopped... I got to 200lbs I’m taller so it was ok-ish but now I’ve gained 20 lbs and I’m getting scared bc I never really got to where I was wanting. I do not have loose skin, I kinda look like a small fat person... I wear a size 9/10 in women’s clothes BUT naked I look like miss piggy. I never got the loose skin, I still have thicker fat on my abdomen area and lower belly hangs but it’s thick. I need help, I’ve went to the gym, I’ve walked, I’ve ran... I don’t know what to do.

Snapcase- replied to New&Improved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’ve lost 185lbs so far and been going to the gym balancing cardio and muscle training. Pretty much no matter what you do if you were really over weight you’ll have loose skin. You can’t avoid it. The body has stretched your skin totally. I was 500lbs and now down to 314. it’s a lot to lose over time. -

So far, I've managed to luck out. I've lost over 160 lbs since my heaviest and I don't have any loose skin. Of course, I'm only 32.
