Well, they didn't numb it, but it was only a pinch.. totally bearable. Unfortunately they only put in 2cc's. So I have a total if 2.5cc's. I was hoping for more. Oh well. My next fill is in 4 weeks!

So I know I probably sound like a big whiner, but I am feeling really frustrated at the moment! A week and a half ago I got the call that I was approved (this was a Friday). I was so excited! On Monday I went to my PCP to pick-up the original referral (I have *** insurance) and noticed that the referral was just for the consult appt! Talk about the wind getting knocked out of my sails! Then there was some run-around with the surgeon's office and my PCP regarding the referral. The bariatric program that I am using normally has you see the surgeon, bariatician, nutritionist and psychologist all in the 1st appt. so since my referral was just for the surgeon my insurance required a letter from the surgeon's office stating how exactly their program works. OK fine. I called yesterday to verify and I have a referral for the surgeon and an EGD to be done. I guess I have to complete all of the "clearance tests" and then if the surgeon recommends that I'm a candidate for surgery then my insurance will approve me for the surgery and refer me to see the other specialists. I know this is all formalities, but I'm frustrated because I am afraid I could be denied. Thinking I was approved already was such a great feeling and now I feel like I am in limbo! I feel very fortunate that my insurance covers WLS and I will jump through whatever "hoop" they tell me to, but it just stinks when you're so excited and then you feel discouraged! I am just so scared that something will go wrong and I won't be able to have the surgery. Financially I can't afford to go to Mexico or be a self-pay.

Congrats on your first fill!! It is exciting! And my surgeon does numb the area first before doing the actual fill. I go for my next fill in 2 weeks - can't wait!!

3 weeks after tummy tuck. Lots of swelling and one drain in still, but I couldn't be happier! -
I dunno, Sherry---that's almost 1.5 pounds a week. That's not a turtle's pace; it's the expected rate! You're doing a great job :smile2:

Week 1 -
So I'm about 5 weeks into my lapband journey and I'm very pleased but one thing that bothers me is this: Most days I have restriction and good restriction.....and then out of the blue for 1 to 2 days I feel like I have absolutely none! I'm hungry all day, I can eat anything (well maybe not as much before the band! but too much!!!!) And at least for now it goes back to restriction! Today is a "NO RESTRICTION" day! Just wondering if anyone else has this occur?

I never have PB or vomiting, I also have little restriction though. 3rd fill next week *crosses fingers*

Worry over nothing?
LindafromFlorida replied to LindafromFlorida's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Megabob and Hatters, thanks for responding. My husband is very private about any of his business so there is no changing this and telling all. I respect him and his wishes. What I have to do is quit worrying about it - because it is what it is. Darn weird how everyone wants you to eat BIG, LOL!! Okay, dinner in 2 hours, I will survive. At least we are finally seeing these dear friends, and for us who choose to keep our surgeries to ourselves, this is what we will deal with. I mentioned once that when we see the three people I insisted we tell, all the conversation is about is our surgery, and I finally have to say ENOUGH! Lets talk about you! -

Great Valentines Day...I Hope!

first go very slow. very small bites and chew chew chew. have the food very moist ( I use chicken thighs rather than breasts because the are more moist and usually have some type of broth with them) try only one new food at a time that way you will know if it works for your tummy or not. if it doesn't wait a week or two and try it again. there is just no way to know what will work for you and what wont some of us can eat meat and some cant some can eat salads and some cant some can eat eggs and some cant etc. I am 13 years out and there are still things I can not eat so don't have the expectation that some day you will be able to eat anything you want. some can but most can not. you learn to adjust and after a time you just wont miss what ever it is you can not eat. I still can not eat some meats ( beef unless ground and pork loins) salads and raw veggies just give me horrible gas and hurt tho I do not dump on them and with sweets I can only have about three bites before I dump. -
Well your doctor is right I would call your surgeon and see if you can move it up a week. I would stay on the liquid diet though. I hate really hate that you are sick and can't go through with the surgery.. You defintely don't want to be sick with the flu post op. It would be really bad on your recovery..good luck and hopefully you will be able to have it quickly..

I had my gallbladder removed last August. I am still having pain in that area sometimes. It can't be from fatty foods as I am still having it even though I've been basically on liquids the past couple of weeks. So what is going on? I live in fear of Pancreatic cancer (don't laugh) as I had a cousin and aunt both die from it. Any of you in the medical field have any thoughts? I'd go see the surgeon but I'm only ten days out from the VSG and I don't want anything to delay that.

I know this is common but I am at 4 months and I have had a stall this week. I can't seem to get back on track and motivated. I feel like I am eating when I shouldn't be. I sent my Nut. a list of what I eat on a normal day and I hope she gets back to me. I think my head is getting the best of me.

Hi. Thanks for answering. I am now 4 weeks post op. The swelling is mostly gone. It did look weird and scary but I am ok now. I appreciate your comment. Your friends stomach will go back to normal. It just takes time. My best.

I keep reading and reading the average is 1 to 2 pounds per week so looks like you are on target. Are you feeling restriction yet?

I went on vacation this past weekend. Fri- Mon. I ate whatever I wanted. It was mostly ice cream, fried seafood and crab legs. I guess it's obvious I vacayed on the beach. When I got on the scale this morning I was 209!! I cant believe I struggled for a week and finally lost when I was trying the least! I'll take that loss and hopefully I'll be at 207 by Monday.

Gastric sleeve to bypass
MamaTo3inNH replied to mickally's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm very disappointed in your doctors. My center stressed, at each and every informational meeting, that if you have even mild regular heartburn bypass is the best route to take. They should have you taking omeprazole (maybe not til your 3 week check up) - that may help. It's taken for six months to prevent ulcers. If it helps, stay on it. That's what I was on pre-RNY for my reflux. Hopefully you're on the mend soon -
Got my Pre op appt with psychologist, dietitian and physical therapy 2 weeks from today!!! Them the sugeron will either be the next day or a week from that. Super excited to be making progress!!!

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor female, 35, banded 2 weeks ago
critterlady posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi. I'm new to this forum but would love someone that I could communicate with regularly. I was banded 11/24/09 in South Carolina. I'm 35, married, no kids....lots of pets! I'm a veterinarian with a weight loss goal of 100 pounds. Having some trouble being excited about this liquid phase! Ready to get on with it! Will someone mentor me? Thanks! sara -
Normal. The first three weeks were the most exhausting of my life. Just make sure you are getting fluids in. I literally had to rest after walking 15 feet.

Just when you think you've figured out your band(BAM) IT TAKES A NEW TURN!! I have resceduled three fill appointments because one minute I'm loose and the next minute I'm tight! How and when do I know it's time. I'm not rushing to get a fill and then be fustrated when I'm to tight. It's been almost 2 1/2 months since my last fill. But sometimes I can eat way to much and then sometimes I can't hardly get water down. I have been almost the same weight for the last 1 1/2 months, but scared to get a fill because sometimes I am just to tight. It's 7 months and I would like to know if it will get a little better for me ? I just don't know what to do! If someone could relate please let me know!! Oh and I started walking for the last few days and lost 1 lbs. I was so excited this morning when I got on that scale.
