  1. Had sleeve 9/2016 was doing great till 6-8 months ago started regaining weight (30+) yes I have been eating more but nothing drastic and still exercise 1 hour a day. So frustrating! Saw my surgeon says I qualify for RNY I’m considering it but he told me that I won’t loose that much more. Can you tell me what the average would be and how successful people have or have not been with a revision. Having a UGI later this month to rule out reflux (not sure if I have that) thank you!

Hi, all. I got access to a scale today and am now down to 138 pounds. As many of you have said, I could never have imagined being this weight six months ago. I was realistically hoping to get to between 170 to 180 and would have been happy with that result. I'm attaching a recent photo from my trip to Stockholm. (Please note that I'm not showing off a cute outfit in this picture.) What you can't see here is the loose skin all over my body--but I certainly prefer that to weighing 100 pounds more!

@sherribear... way to step up your fashion game! I love that dress and the boots and tights go very well. You have come along way. I remember reading your post complaining about big thighs. What thighs? You look great. Also, if you fit into a medium....nothing is big. Tell you what...let’s see if we can get a group discount on skin removal.

Sheri sorry but you are sexy!!!! My stomach looks like elephant skin but oh well. At least I can walk on the beach now. I tried to enjoy the beach before my surgery and my hips and ankles hurt so bad I could barely get down a little ways and back. I am not proud of how my stomach and back of my legs look because of the texture of my skin but I’m just trying to focus on the good stuff.... You look amazing in this outfit!

  7. I'm there too— Surgery was 7/31 and down 34 lbs as of today (259 to 225). And I DO exercise every day, with either a 3-5 mile walk or a 45min rowing class. I was worried I was behind based on some of the rapid drops others here have reported, but my nutritionist at MGH said I'm at a normal and very good pace, so I think we're doing great. Personally I don't want to drop so quickly that my skin can't keep up, so it's probably a good thing. It's hard not to constantly compare our journeys, but it's also worth noting, when we do, that the people who seek out a forum like this are particularly motivated, and therefore not an average sample of all people with this surgery. 😃
  8. Yeah, I’m in Victoria. Pre op I was just on 100 at my heaviest. I then decided to take out top cover health insurance and start the ball rolling. In the 12 month wait period I tried duromine, dropped 12 kilos in 3 months but the lack of sleep just made me feel crazy. Was doing good and dropped another 2 kilos off duromine. Then the weight crept back. Over about 10 weeks I went from 86 to 96 kilos. So by the time I saw my surgeon I was so glad he had me booked into hospital 3 weeks from our first visit. So far eating most things has gone really good. Only if I eat one bite too much I vomit a bit. Drinking enough is the bit I struggle the most with. Atm I can eat almost 1/2 to 3/4 of a small yoghurt now. So around 80ml. How much my taste in food changed was the biggest shock. The kids got kfc the other week, I stole one popcorn chicken, one chip, and a little pinch of skin and it all tasted disgusting, and I threw it up within few minutes. Tried a bit of ham cheese and tomato pita bread and was horrible. Things I would normally love taste vile, I really hope it stays that way forever haha. Try to have a variety of shakes and sugar, free jelly, different stuff to make smoothies when you come home from hospital. All the things I drank a lot of the first couple of weeks I can’t stomach now. They ones I switched up often I have no problem with now.
  9. I had it all done. Definitely echo check the surgeon. For me fat transfer with breast lift made sense, I did not want the upkeep. Also I had Liposuction on inner and outer thighs prior to thigh lift - it left considerable excess skin. I knew at that point I would eventually have it removed and did Would it be at the VA or in the community? Start the process then see where it leads. If VA is funding the PS out of the VA it could limit the PS choices. Finally the VA does gender reassignments and major PS for wounded service members - not exactly the same but fairly extensive. If it were I would definitely follow the trail and see where it leads.

I ❤️ this post! Losing 87 pounds is crazy good progress! I’m feeling you on the excess skin. I’m kinda bummed to realize that for me to truly achieve ALL of my goals, then skin removal might have to be in my future. I’m almost beyond any hope that the places that are really loose and saggy are going to fix themselves, but for now I’m going to take it one day at a time. I posted this in the OOTD thread, but I’m pretty excited bc an outfit I ordered came in and the weather finally turned cool enough for me to start wearing tights and boots. If you would’ve told me that I’d be wearing size medium 8 months ago I would’ve danced and not stop dancing. Now I try to not be upset about having to wear the tights to keep the extra skin sag from showing because it means what used to fill out all that extra skin is now gone

    Compression Tights and Loose Skin

And thank you! I may still be a bit saggy. But my skin is soft...lol I didn't mean to sound like a downer! So I hope I didnt come across that way! But I honestly think I've tried every fad out there! Lol

    Compression Tights and Loose Skin

I've tried derma rolling, coffee wraps, brushing, ice packs...lol exercising daily multi vitamins tons of water....was gonna try cool sculpting, but after talking to quite a few people it does nothing for saggy skin ☹

wow well done on the loss. Thanks for letting me know what you have tried to combat the loose skin. 😊

    Compression Tights and Loose Skin

I think I have tried almost everything. I have lost 100 and some change...I work out religiously but still a saggy belly and extra skin on the thighs....afraid at this point my only option would be a tummy tuck and lipo... sure it looks better than it did, but I'm still self conscious. And unless I win the lottery looks like spanks from here on out 😏

Ok, 1 thing I am not so happy about 1 week post op...

It doesn’t take much to lose a cup size, it’s only 1” in measurement per cup size. Your under bust measurement (gotta pull that measure tape tight) is your band size rounded up or down if need be. And measure loose on the fullest part of your bust. Each inch difference between the two is one cup size. As a general guideline since bra styles vary plus other factors. I had some nice Freya deco bras that I loved but with sudden weight gain didn’t fit anymore, they were size 30F UK (30G in U.S.) of course I bargain hunted them when I got them but they were practically brand new when they stopped fitting. So I put them away. I’d bought bigger sizes from Target. But After surgery I just wore sports bras for a while. But then finally my Freya bras fit now! They are a moulded cup so give some shape. I just hope I get some wear out of them awhile. I hate bra shopping since I’m weirdly small in the under bust area and stores don’t sell the band size unless their sizing runs small. I used to find in Nordstrom rack but last few times their inventory was terrible, then Again I only shop the clearance rack.

We really are surgery twins we have the same surgery date and the same starting weight! I hope the EGD helps. It really is difficult when you are unable to eat . By this time you just want to feel normal. i feel you on the loose skin, I try to suck in my stomach most of the time but doggone it, I have to breathe. I still have about 40 to 45 pounds to lose. I am hoping my stomach goes away with those 45 pounds. Lets take a moment acknowledge the fact that you lost 87 pounds! That is amazing, I looked at some of my original post and I wrote something like if I lose 90 pounds in six months, I will be dancing down the street! Here we are. Did you think you would ever be able to say, I lost 87 pounds in seven months or so? I

I love your dress and those shoes are amazing. I'm doing ok. I'm going to be having an EGD because I have an off and on again stomach pain/upset since surgery. I haven't got the date yet until they get the approval. I will let you know what I find out. I'm at 251 and have lost 87 pounds. I feel like I should have lost more, but probably am waiting too much. Last night I ate a whole croissant with no ill feeling. If eat chicken it hurts after a few bites. I try to stick to soft proteins. Yogurt is the easiest on my stomach. I still have tons of restriction, but am finding I can graze a bit. I'm still trying to be very mindful of what I eat. I am at a BMI of 39.9 which is just below morbid obesity. I still have a long way to go. I really hope it get there by 18 months. My dr and I will go over my options at 12 months to see if i need/want a revision to DS. I'm having so much lose skin and would consider doing my arms. I carry my weight in my upper half of my body and have way smaller legs. I guess we all have our problem areas. Mine is my arms, breasts and stomach. You're looking good! How much do you have to lose to goal? I'm at a spot that most people started. But, overall I feel pretty amazing! Take care! Stay in touch. 💗

    Skin Surgery

Good Morning all, Its that time where i am starting to think about skin surgery. I am down a total of 127.6 and will be a year out next month. I am thinking about having it done some time in April when i hit the 18 month mark. The weight loss is starting to slow and the last 3 months or so, I have lost 6, 4.4. 7.4 and 5.2. Anybody have any ideas of surgeons and cost? This will be self pay again unless my Dr. Appt on the 15th of this month deems some of it medically necessary, which i do not see happening as i have not had any issues. I am just ready to get the process started. Any ideas and thoughts, suggestions, recovery time, any info at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Happy Losing!
  19. Well it's 12:27 AM and I am officially NPO for a 7:30 AM surgery. I have been a busy little elf or victim, depends on your viewpoint. This will be my Third surgery in a little over a month. August 27th I had an ganglion cyst REMOVED from my left wrist, it was pressing on the nerve underneath, either pain or numbness in my fingersz- THAT ONE wasn't all that bad and besides I do like my "ortho", he's a cutie pie but I didn't tell him THAT, like many surgeons he's a tad conceited already. Then on September 24th I had a Lipoma(fatty tumor ) removed from the outer surface of my upper right arm. Yeah, Dr Pimple Popper does these in her office, not My Surgeon! I'm plunked on my back in an OR with blue sterile cloths blocking my view- at least Ron the Nurse- Anesthesia dude was passable fair, only flipping thing I could look at! And WTF she was doing to ME I am Not Quite Sure, I am bruised from elbow up to my shoulder, I have a big hard hot lump where she removed it, no sutures- just glued/welded shut and UGLY. The old joke was "Beauty is Skin- Deep while Ugly goes through to the Bone" well this is wicked nasty in appearance. Looks almost like hand and fingerprints, did one of the crew steady my arm That Way? Don't you think with as much as insurance pays they could have put it on some sort of support or put sandbags on each side to stabilize IT? Now today, October 3rd, I have my Left cataract REMOVED by my Opthamologist Dr Koehler, which means I have to show up Bright- Eyed and Anticipatory at 6 AM and I am NOT a Cheerful Happy Bluebird when it is still DARK out! My Bariatric Surgeon had THAT SAME WARPED SENSE OF HUMOR- planned it also for 7:30 AM, the only TIME I really relished being ripped from my bed was to produce an new little human being and THAT SADDLE was put away years and years ago! And TRUTH be TOLD I still was crabby then TOO! The same day next week ( October 8th) will be my one week with Dr Koehler and also my two week with Dr Mc Laughlin, the surgeon who wreaked havoc on my unsuspecting Arm. It looks like she got revenge for man- stealing and I never even met the Dude. I have been through a lot in my time and I have never seen Such an Odd lump like this- not infected- No discharge or ANYTHING but it's weird- looks like an misplaced Breast implant- honest IT DOES! She is an General Surgeon, want to bust her down to Private First Class, 3 World Fairs and A Punkin- Chucking contest and THIS IS A NEW ONE For ME. And I had hoped to have my Left💪 Rotator cuff repaired before the End of the Year while my deductibles are met. Dr Doolittle ( my ortho() says it won't be a mere repair after all but a Total Reverse Shoulder Replacement, due to my degree of arthritis envolment. Anybody know if Google Play Store has a Masochistic App, thinking of having One installed because it appears I AM A GLUTTON FOR PUNISHMENT Currently. Well I got some clean loose comfy clothes laid out, refuse to Sleep in THEM- if you have any Spare🙏 Prayers laying idle Send Them My Way, okay? Time to take a Deep Breath and Try to get some Sleep. FRUSTR8 OUT- zzz zzz.
  20. And they will fade and grow smaller- at one year m8ne have all faded into the stretch mark scars I had from 3 9 pound babies once upon a time. If you weren't another bari- patient and knew where to look, you'd never find them. Only one really still evident and it's such a mini one is the one. between my breasts where the liver retractor was placed. There had not been stretch marks so high to hide it. Its my little battle ribbon from it all. Means my skin rated me a SUCCESS so I wear it with pride!
  21. I'm 2months and 1 wk out. I'm down 42lbs weighting 219 only 20 more lbs til I'm in the 100s can't wait. I have sized down to a med/Large in my pajama pants lol! My other ones were size 2x-3x and they were falling off of me. My husband actually told me your pants look too big for you. I'm down to L/XL in shirts now and can wear form fitting shirts. I was 2x-3x and made sure all my shirts were loose because I was embarrassed of my rolls. Pants I started at a snug 18 and now I'm in a 14/15 and they are getting loose. Its exciting, but at the same time I see myself in the mirror and I feel I look the same as before surgery. I am getting hit on a lot more when I got to random places. Its odd and awkward lol. I am hoping to lose 20lbs by Jan when I go back home to see my family. I want to me in the 100s. I haven't been working out this past month. I got sick then my husband went out of state for work and I had the kids alone and no child care at the gym. I plan on going back Monday!!

    MEN 300-350 LBS WEIGHT LOSS

Brent701, When I was in my initial consultation, my surgeon asked what I wanted to weigh. I told him what he wanted me to weigh. He was the expert. He pulled his calculator out and came up with 160 which he then quickly told me was arbitrary. He told me to think of my goal weight like the finish line in a long distance race. Most racers slow down (even if just a fraction) and what the really good racers do is just keep working. He said he would tell me when to stop and that my body very well might be ideal at a different weight. Ended up he stopped me at 180. Told me to not loose anymore. That if I had t become obese that I would be normal at this point. I still track my foods, and am very active. I hover between 175-180 and will do that indefinitely. When I started I only hoped I could be “normal”. I went from a 46-48 jean to a 30-33 depending on brand. A 3xl shirt that was tight to a small or medium again depending on the brand. But I feel amazing. I think I look great too.
  24. Hi , do glad I found this !! I don’t have anyone to talk to because unless you have had a sleeve you will never understand . I had my sleeve done 4.5 weeks ago I have lost 8kgs but seem to get stuck I’m tying to eat more but I’m worried I just won’t loose the weight I thought it would come of quicker .. any advice
  25. Hello everyone, it's been a while since I've been on here. The last time I was here was sometime in April, I was almost 4 months postOp and about 6 or 7 weeks pregnant. Well for those who wonder if it's possible to go through the whole pregnancy while still trying to loose weight, the answer is YES! I am currently 33 weeks pregnant and my baby is doing extremely well. As for my weight, I'm pretty much still at my goal weight, plus or minus a pound here and there. But I haven't gained weight at all. Surprise, right? I am too. My baby now weighs just over 4lbs and I'm nesting like crazy, busy preparing nursery and awaiting his arrival. Feel free to ask any questions related to being pregnant and going through weight loss, and I'll do my best to answer. Oh and thank you to all of those who supported and encouraged me back in March/April, I really appreciate you all [emoji182] Sent from my SM-N975U using BariatricPal mobile app
