I still like mostly the same things myself. Except, I always had a sweet tooth. I'd love a bite of chocolate, ice cream and put me in front of a brownie......YUM..but I was sleeved three months ago. I decided to have a mini snickers, ate half and thought *shrugs* it wasn't nearly as yummy as I wanted it to be! So, I haven't had a sweet since. Now.........give me a cracker...............

Had to get an endoscopy today as part of the process to get the sleeve in June. Got some bad news today, they found a lot of gastric erosion caused by the aspirin I take daily. Have to take prioslec and see him in two weeks. Might have the beginning of an ulcer. Now the Big Question... Is this going to kill the sleeve surgery altogether? I have to see my surgeon on Friday. I have no idea what this means.

According to the Law of Attraction your life is a physical manifestation of your predominant thoughts and feelings. If you have spent many years battling with your weight and not liking your body, the primary focus of your thoughts and feelings has been that of discontent in terms of your weight and body. Every thought you think carries with it an energetic vibration and will attract experiences that carry with them like vibrations. If you are focused on needing to lose weight, not liking the weight you are now, and feel like it is a struggle you will attract to you more life experiences that will be an energetic match to that feeling thus showing up as excess weight, discontent with your current body state, and struggle. Focusing on what you don’t want is like having someone say to you “Don’t think of an elephant” (I bet you just pictured an elephant in your mind!!). If you want a strong, slender, healthy body, you must keep your focus on the kind of body you want and the feeling of what it would be like to live in that body. It does take energy and effort to keep yourself focused on what you do want especially if your dominant focus has been on that of what you do not want. Answering the following questions will help you shift your thoughts in a positive direction. Why do you want to resolve your weight issues? How will your life be different if you were at a healthy weight? Use the following questions as a guideline: Do you think your health would improve? If so how? Would your energy level change? If so how? Are there physical activities that you would participate in that you do not do today because of your weight? Do you have any aches and pains you think would be resolved if you lost weight? Would you walk differently? Would you interact with people differently? Would you talk differently? Would your relationships change? Would you eat differently? If so how? Are there people you would be more or less involved with if you lost weight? Would losing weight affect your career? If so, how? Would losing weight affect your family? If so, how? Would you dress differently? If so how? Would you have any new hobbies? Would it affect your social life? If so how? Do you think it would affect your mood? How about your mental clarity? Next week I’ll tell you how to use the answers to these questions to generate a powerful vision statement… Blessings and Peace, Louisa p.s. I’ll be offering new telephone support groups starting in September. If you have any questions or would like more information about them email me at louisa@louisalatela.com or call me at 856.429.9799. www.louisalatela.com

Get my advice and get your psych eval ASAP. My insurance (BCBS) required 3 visits (interview, tests and final review) and it was spaced 2 weeks in between. Good luck!

I travelled on the Sunday to stay in a hotel, hospital for pre-op testing on Monday and op on Tuesday, the co-ordinator met us in the hotel and told us to go and eat in the hotel restaurant and to eat what we wanted. As we had been on a pre-op diet for 2 weeks it was a wonderful treat. I had my op in Europe.

Hey All - Well, some of you know that I've been sick since I started the pre-op diet (think that's probably coincidental). Anyway, ended up with bronchitis and a double ear infection this week. Called my surgeon today and they said I need to finish my antibiotics before they can do surgery, so surgery moved from Monday August 3rd to Friday August 7th. Funny thing is that my surgeon is doing a workshop for other doctors that day, so my surgery will be recorded and shown via satellite to other bariatric surgeons. I was fine with that for two reasons 1) they don't show my face and 2) I figure he's gotta be on his "a" game right?? So, bummed that I have to live on liquids for yet another week, but feel better that at least I'll be healthy for surgery. Jen

I have done all of my paperwork appointments, EVERYTHING I have needed to get my approval, I called and they told me it was transfered to the girl in the insurance area and that she will get to it in 1-2 weeks!! Does it always take this long?? Will it take this long to hear from my insurance company?? I am so excited and worried they wont' approve me.... Any words of advice??:bananalama:

Congrats!!! Follow what they tell you to do, When you are on your liquid, it's hard to get everything in that they want you to, but at the very least get in all three shakes and fruit, and fiber. Who is your surgeon??

Hello. I was sleeved on 9/29 and have had a relatively easy recovery. I feel great. But in the last two or three days I have noticed that my shoulders are becoming sore. Mainly when I do things, but even minor things like hold big my purse or even texting. It is mainly My left shoulder, but my right as well. I am left handed and therefore using my left shoulder more. I am going to call my doctor when they have office hours this afternoon, but does this sound like a symptom of a leak? Or maybe just weakness? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Anyone considering this doctor needs to check with the medical board and see what information they have on him. It's not good. We need to be our own advocates and listen to what other banders can say about their own doctors. Be careful. I lived in ABQ until 2006. Moved to Littleton at that time and was lucky enough to be banded by Dr. Kirshenbaum. He, however doesn't take insurance. His self pay cost is $9,950.00 total and that includes everything - plus first three months of fills. He's in Aurora. It's about 450 miles from ABQ. Check out his website www.lapbandrockies.com. He's the best! I know, he saved my life!

So I've been doing the pre-op diet for about the past two weeks and tomorrow I go to sign all the consents and have the pre sugery blood work done and then thursday is the day but not till 12:30pm. When I started this process over a year ago I never thought I would eventually make it here. I feel very lucky to have insurance that will pay their part and a 401K plan that I can borrow against.

Buckle down for 3 weeks, ladies. It gets MUCH better when you hit day 7, day 11... But when you hit the mushies - it's awesome! Hang in there

I was 4/16 and I've lost 44 if I don't include the ten on my preop diet. There was a 2 week pause (I hate to say stall because my pants got looser) on the scale and then I dropped 7 pounds the next week. I don't expect the weight loss to be as rapid now. You sound good to me!

Sleeved april 8th
Bridget312001 replied to Bmordan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was also sleeved on April 8th and have lost about the same amount as you (if I include my pre-op diet). 45lbs in 11 weeks is pretty awesome if I do say so myself. -
Mindy and Carmel - sorry I didn't reply to your posts for a while - I've been on a trip and at meetings for work - that's awesome that we were all banded on the same day! How is everything going now? What stage of the post-op diets are you on now? I'm on mushies/soft - will be for another week and a half, then supposed to introduce "regular" foods - kinda nervous. I've had a couple of times when the food doesn't go down so well and it sure is painful. Have either of you had that experience? How are you doing on the exercise part? I don't seem to have that motivation yet - and it's hotter that heck here so not to excited to get outside and walk. Hope to hear from you soon!!! Kim

Any cleaners by trade out there?
Chelsi replied to gomekast's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i was told by my surgeon no lifting over 15lbs for four weeks. depending on how much you lift/carry at a time, that might hold it up. -
Just thought I would post these really delicious Protein bars and if anyone else has favourites they recommend please tell us them. I use Protein Bars as a Meal Replacement several times a week if I am on the run or somewhere there is no good food choices to pick from. I only like them if they are really tasty and it satisfies my chocolate craving because they are solid they also keep me feeling full for a long time. My favourite so far is an energy bar called "six star body fuel" that has 15 g of protein. I love the double chocolate chip flavoured one that has a real brownie cake taste. It tastes best when you unwrap it and microwave on high for 10 seconds. It costs about $1.67 at the Real Superstores and at 45 grams it has only 170 calories. My next fave Protein Bar is "PowerBar triple threat", the Chocolate Caramel fusion flavour. It has 225 calories and 10 g of protein and is 53 grams. It sells for about $1.99 each at the Real Superstore. Donna VBG/87 Revised By Dr. Cobourn to Lapband/06 251/164/125 goal

I was wondering when did you start eating raw vegetables. My favorite thing in the whole world is cubed tomato, cucumber, onion, salt pepper and dash of plain yogurt, but I am not sure how long I have to wait... Probably until next local farmers season.. I would chew on anything raw at this point, I am so sick of drinking my meals ( it has been almost 4 weeks - 2 weeks preop and then almost 2 weeks post op... I am losing it in between preparing meals for my toddlers and for my husband.... Ugh, it would be easier if we all could drink Protein shakes and have yell-o for desert... (cue romantic music... I can almost see the whole family skipping and dancing happily on the beach with Protein Shakes in our hands, I don't know, I am just in a desperate need of chewing. Popsicles make me sick and I hate puddings... Roar... Help me Obi-wan Kenobi, you're my only hope....

Vitamins - Morning or Evening?
JP69 replied to devichan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take in the morning, but only twice a week. -
I just had a fill about a week ago. I wonder if it's just decided to "kick in"? I didn't notice much of a difference right after the fill, but he only added .2 cc's, so I didn't think anything of it.
