Any October 2021 Surgeries?
Breanne (w 2 pups) replied to devotion's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I just got out of surgery for bypass and am feeling pretty good! I have no doubt the pain meds are helping though. My surgeon warned me that the top wound hurts the most and she wasn’t kidding! I honestly can’t even feel the other ones! Last year I had an ovary out laparoscopically and bc these wounds are higher on the abdomen I’m way more mobile so far. I’ve already walked to the bathroom, and that took me prob half a day w the other surgery. So far so good! -

Hi everyone! I start my two-week liquid diet on Oct 19 and Surgery is on November 3. I am just now getting all the results of my bloodwork and it is nervewrecking. Did anyone else get nervous while your results were coming in? -
Any October 2021 Surgeries?

Two weeks!?! For bypass? Wow. I had the sleeve and work a high stress job in mental health and had to beg to go back in two weeks. My surgeon requires 4-6 weeks off. -
Congratulations! I am happy for you. It will be 5 years for me in December (gastric bypass) and your post has really inspired me to keep mindful on my eating as I have noticed old habits creeping in! Thank you 🙌🏽

Hi all. I had gastric bypass last week on Sept 28. Surgery went well but I had one very bad day/night of nausea so I'm already basically a day behind. I'm in need of some encouragement that it gets better. When do I feel "normal" again? I understand there will be pain and my nausea seems unusually high but I can deal with it. But is it normal to constantly feel gurgling and movement (for lack of a better word) in my new stomach? Water tastes terrible... I have a hard time getting down the vitamins and protein shakes. I've only lost about 4 lbs. I feel like I'm far behind where I should be. I have my follow up appointment tomorrow so maybe they will be able to set my mind at ease. I would just like to hear that I'm not failing and others have had the same response.

My gastric bypass surgery is scheduled for October 19th and I'm currently awaiting my preop appointment date. My 1st question is what's the latest I can have a pre op appointment before surgery because it seems like I should have been scheduled for that already My 2nd question is at what point should I stop taking prescribed phentermine by another doctor before my pre opt appointment or surgery?

You are going to do just fine!! And you will be so happy you did this for yourself. I am almost one year out from my bypass, and life is so much better now. I am healthy and grateful. The next couple of months will be a learning period for you, but just go easy on yourself. I tried to eat solid foods earlier than I should have, and it gave me an upset stomach every time I did, but other than that I had no problems after surgery, and I'm sure you won't either. After a couple of months, I could eat anything with no problem. Good luck, and let us know how you're doing after you get back home from surgery.

Anyone changed doctors before surgery!
mrsjo posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello all! I’m 4 months into my 6mo pre-op diet phase before bypass and thinking of changing doctors. Anyone else done this? If so do you start all over or can they use your records from the old doc? So sad and confused as to what to do. Would love to find a new doctor. -
I had my gastric bypass on September 13th, and have been doing decent since then. We actually weren't sure if I'd have a bypass, or sleeve, until I was KO'd and on the table. That was due to mesh and scar tissue from a few previous hernia surgeries in the area. I am enjoying trying the items on the soft foods list. The surprise so far is cottage cheese. All my life I hated it, and suddenly it's the best tasting thing ever.

Hi I'm due to have a bypass on Wednesday morning. I'm really tearful and stressed. Is it lack of food? I keep thinking what if it doesn't work. I live in Spain and have paid to have it done as it's not covered in the health care here nd cost a lot of money. I desperately want it but scared it will fail even tho my rather handsome (bonus) surgeon assures me it wont. I'm worried about recovery and not being able to eat. Am I just driving myself and with anxiety? Am I just being a stupid nearly 50 year old woman. Sorry Xxx

Bxnaija: I messaged you. Go to your PCP AND set up consultations with surgeons ASAP Update: I will no longer get the gastric bypass surgery. I am going to get the duodenal switch surgery. YouTube it if you haven’t heard of it. It’s a great tool to have especially someone with over 100lbs to lose like myself. 🥰😍 -

I'm 45 and had gastric bypass on 9/17/21. -
Hello, Mini bypass is a single bypass connection unlike the classic gastric bypass, and what you are facing is a common symptom. An immediate visit to your surgeon is recommended. Sent from my G8342 using BariatricPal mobile app

Hi, i had my revision surgery lapband to bypass on the 25th. So far so good. Hope you are ok and recovering well. -
I'm not sure about a mini gastric bypass. but with a regular gastric bypass, that's often symptomatic of a stricture. Call your clinic - they may want to take a look down your throat (and if they see something like a stricture, they can "fix" it while they're in there). Although if it gets to the point you can't even keep fluids down, then go to a hospital. You can live without food for a few days, but not fluids.

I am 6 weeks post op and I had a mini gastric bypass. At this point am supposed to be able to eat everything but if I eat I spoon of something or the smallest amounts I get the worst chest pain and I immediately need to vomit! From the first bite I can feel the “foamy” coming up and it makes me more nauseous. I chew till my jaw cracks and I eat with a kids spoon so I dont know what to do tbh. I am so scared that I’ll be like that forever and wont be able to eat properly again! ( I can easily keep down liquids. Ice water is my best friend atm cause it help with the nausea a lot ). Please let me know if you’ve been through this or know what would help.

I was surprised at the speed too. Hospitals in my area had put elective surgeries on hold for a while, so I expected a much longer wait. November will be here for us in no time! 😀 -

I’ve heard converting helps a lot. I had Rny in 2002 and have gained back weight for various reasons. I’m having distal bypass.
