I caved and now I'm worried

I have about 200lbs to lose and lost 10lbs in 10 days post op. He was happy, I was happy. If he poo pooed that, I would have been crushed and felt like a complete failure. But I did everything asked of me. Everyone loses at their own pace. Don’t let the pace take you down. That loss is still a loss. A loss is a win. If you carry around a gallon of milk for a week and put it down and walk away, you will finally feel the weight off of you. But if you take 2 cups a day out of it, it doesn't feel that dramatic. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App
  2. Thanks for all the kind words everyone! The pain in my chest is a bit better today. Before bed last night I experienced very sharp pain in my right shoulder.. it lasted about an hour. It was so bad that it brought me to tears.... thankfully it didn't last all that long. I've been prescribed liquid codine for the pain and haven't had to take any since 10:30 last night... it's around 5:00 am now (I'm still jet lagged) and I'm getting ready to have my first taste of clear Soup broth. Hoping that my recovery will continue to go smoothly. I'm flying back home tomorrow (about a 3 hour flight) so I'm hoping that I'll be feeling comfortable and don't have any pain sitting on the plane for that long. To anyone who's considering having this done... the first day kind of sucks. But if the way I'm feeling now is any indication of how my recovery will continually progress, I should be back to normal in no time.
  3. Hi everyone. I'm Tonya today makes day 11 post op for me. It has been extremely hard. The day I started my pre op diet (12/10)I was 213. Yesterday I was 191 Im struggling with keeping down water . so I had my daughter go buy the Gatorade G2. I also drunk soy milk which is helping. Now my urine is starting to lighten up. I have energy just kind of bored.i have never been do ready to return to work.
  4. I had my gallbladder removed when I was 19 back in 1983. It was done open because they didn't have laproscopic at the time. I have never missed it since it has been removed, and I don't miss the pain it was giving me prior to surgery. My only thought is see if he can do it laproscopically. The open procedure for me was extremely painful, carried a six week recovery time and the scar tissue that was created from it was so unbelievable that 2 years ago when I went to have the band put in they couldn't see through all the scar tissue...Get it removed, because it will get worse just make sure you are very well informed by your doc. Good Luck!
  5. Dealing with family issues and haven't had much food since last Friday.. ive dropped nearly 10 pounds due to this stress everyone might think that's awesome but this isnt the way i want to be losing weight..sweet thought my way would be welcomed with open arms.
  6. U look good girl! I had a lot of people trying to discourage me too, but my mind was made up and nobody negative comment could change that. I had my surgery sept 10 and I'm down a total of 49lbs and I feel great!
  7. I'm down 10 pounds in just 4 weeks. My doc said he wants to keep that pace so he only gave me .2

    Weight Gain

I think it's because the last 10-20lbs is always the most difficult to lose. I also think that it was my first set point from high school and my body thought it needed to settle there and defend that new position. I also know that it happened in the sophomore phase and this is the phase where we notoriously start living life again. So some of it could be that I slacked off in my choices with a greater frequency of "treat" meals when going out? And before, I cooked almost everything at home. So I think it's probably a combination of metabolic stuff + behavior. Also, that chart doesn't look like it, but the line is actually down at the 130-135 level. It looks more like it's 140ish. Here's a close up of it for the last 90 days.

    6 More Days To Surgery

Congrats on the 19 pounds! The 21st is right around the corner, how exciting!
  12. I am at 10 days out of VSG surgery and 8 days out of an ulcer repair surgery, and I still feel kinda bad. I have been running low grade temps., but thought I was done with that as of yesterday. Well tonite I have hit 100 degrees. I have taken my tylenol and yes I plan on going to the doc first thing in the morning. My questions is......Has anyone else been through this? My stomach still feels sore on the inside and even my back hurts on my left side. Any comparisons would be appriciated.
  13. Experiment with temperatures. I can't drink anything unless is super, super, cold. If it's hot, warm or lukewarm, I can't do it. It makes me feel ugghgh. (yes, The only way I can describe the feeling is with ugh) With real foods I can tolerate more of a variety of temperatures, but I can't do leftovers. It's been a lot of trial and error with my foods, I've thrown up more in the past three-four weeks than I have in the past 10 years. It's not pleasant. I'm about 7 weeks out, and much better than I was the first couple weeks.
  14. My surgery is this coming Monday, November 19. I am not nervous yet. Right now I am just mourning food. I know I will miss it so much. I went for my final preop appointment yesterday and my surgery was nearly cancelled because I had gained weight. I have an autoimmune disease (AS) and am in an active flare for which I have been taking high dose prednisone (50 mg taper) since August. Prednisone always packs the pounds on me. Anyway, I had lost the 5 pounds I needed to get the surgery scheduled but since scheduling, I had gained 10 lbs. The surgeon understood my circumstance and agreed to do the surgery still but the NP at his office made me feel totally horrible! I am eating as clean as possible until my surgery to hopefully lose a few pounds. I am now off prednisone so hopefully that will kick start some loss before Monday.
  15. Hi May bandsters! I got banded 5/19 and it took about a week to get rid of the gas pains. Had my first post op appt on 6/1 and got cleared for walking and "full fluids". Then onto "mushy foods" and my next appt is 7/6 for a potential fill. I have had some soreness still, not sure if I am pusing myself too hard while walking. Going to take it easier tomorrow. So far since surgery I am down 15 pounds but seem to be stuck. I think after reading on here, I might not be getting enough calories. Does anyone else have this problem?

    MAY Sleevers?

Idk if your replying to my post or not but I'll reply. All of it is post surgery. The weight is just flying off. I'm constantly moving averaging over 6k steps a day. I'm eating every 2-230 hrs with last meal right around 6 small constant meals. Average about 800-900 calories a day. I have had a few stalls, longest stall lasting 1 week. Typical day of food will be 6am usually a protein shake or nutrigrain bar, 8am some sort of fruit, 10 some nuts or jerky, 12pm couple hard boiled eggs, 2pm usually some watermelon 4pm whatever my wife makes just small portion about 4-6oz depending what it is. 6pm usually fruit, jerky or nuts.. I know it's not a balanced diet but that's what I eat.

    Need Motivation and Advice

I needed to read this today! I am one of the lower BMIers but have felt very discouraged lately. I started at 206 and am currently at 150 (sleeved 10/26). I want to lose at least 30 more. My scales haven't moved more than a couple pounds each month for 2-3 mths now. I will be at my 6 mth surgeriversary next week..I'm gonna try to go back to the basics, liquids only for a few days to see if I can get my body to start loosing again..

I Kno This Might Be Sick But

10 days... I ended up needing Milk of Magnesia and then Miralax. I took Miralax every other day for about two weeks to just keep going but now I have no problems and have a movement every day. Just remember along with the protein to try to get in some whole grain to keep things on the move when you are able to eat.

    Newbie & Youngster from TX

It didn't take me that long to get my surgery date..it just took me that long to find a surgeon I was really comfortable with and to convince my parents. I walked into this doctor on Wednesday and wanted to schedule surgery for me Sept. 15th, but unfortunately I'll be going on vacation just 7 days later. I'm so releaved to hear there's other youngsters out there though. (That doctor's office was filled with people probably 10-20 years my junior. So how did you take the liquid diet?!

    Shoulder pain...

hi. I had severe left shoulder pain the first few days as well....I was banded on 7/1/10. I was told the only way to get rid of it was to walk around.....so I have been walking...prolly too much...not feeling too great otherwise, but the shoulder's better  not burping...but HICCUPS! man they hurt!!!
  21. FastFazer - your story is so typical of many of us who chose WLS. I went through the exact same turmoil getting to the point of going through with it. I actually joined Weight Watchers for the gazillionth time, two weeks before scheduling surgery. My weight had slowly creeped (back) up to 225, which was my highest high. And I'm under 5'2". I knew with every shred of my being, that at 57 years old (at the time of surgery), I was headed for a major catastrophic event; heart attack, stroke, etc. I was on blood pressure meds, my cholesterol was high, and so was my sugar. Now, 10 months later and 63 pounds lighter, that entire picture has changed. I'm off the meds, sugar and cholesterol are normal, and I walk up the stairs without feeling the need for the cardiac care unit waiting at the top to revive me - lol. I no longer wake up each morning with dread. So in answer to your question about regrets? Not a single one! I would do it over a hundred times. Just know that what you are going through is perfectly normal. I did not tell everyone in my world that I had the surgery; only the ones closest to me. They've all been very supportive, and now I just go about my life; the surgery and banded life isn't at the forefront of everything. Nor does it define me. It took a very long time for me to come to terms with that whole "I'm such a failure....can't lose weight and keep it off on my own". I don't feel that way anymore. Coming to this site has helped a great deal with that part. You are certainly not alone, and bravo to you on taking a huge step toward better health
  22. You know I think one of the problems for all of us is that there is no one way to respond to this surgery! Some people sail through with little pain, and are bopping around in no time- others are really lid low for a while and are much slower to move forward. Some can drink fluids etc. with o problem, others really have trouble getting the fluids in for the first few weeks or longer. However- I think fever is a warning sign and you are right to see your doctor. Just today our daily poster Crosswind was found to have a double ear infection 19 days out- she had felt wonky and had also had a low fever now and again.

5 days post-op and no energy

Congrats on being banded. You will feel better in about 10 days. Just hold on. Deekel gave you some good advice. Good luck.

    pre-op diet day 2 is

My surgery is on the 25th and I'm on day 4 of the pre-op diet. Today was probably the easiest, though I did take a bite of my son's cookie without thinking (I spit it out). The first few days I was trying to do it without extra vegi Soup or vegetables (which are permitted on my diet if hungry), but yesterday I had some soup and it made a difference. I really hope these next 10 days fly by. Are either of you getting banded at the Obesity Control Center?
