  1. Currently 50lbs from my goal weight and this by far has been the hardest journey of my life. I have been admitted into the hospital for severe Dehydration,  I have been well for a couple weeks an then BAM the last couple days back to feeling ruff... My gurd is controlled some times I dont need my heartburn meds other times I live on them. Im loosing slowly at this point but I consider that a blessing as I  have lost a lot very quickly in the beginning of my journey, I do want to feel better. I try foods that I would think would work well with my new stomach some times its a big fail 2 days ago it was avacado I hovered over the porcline god an prayed for releif as I sometimes dont understand, I often times crave carbs and Im trying to control my cravings but its so hard... My sugar tends to drop really low and that makes me very ill Im happy with my progress but often times think WTF did I do to myself, feeling down today as I just dont feel well at all :(

I am not... One day at a time at this point some days are good others not so much but Im trying and that counts

  2. So my daughter reminded my she had a snap shot on her phone of me from about 3 months before i started this journey so pretty close to my max weight. I have had it for few days now and had to work thru my emotions before i could clearly decide if i wanted to post this or not. So the beard hides my 3 chins pretty well but well you can see for yourself. loose skin and all5af22ea94792e_afteredit.thumb.jpg.0ea9e2bb6c2ad3d5993563ef2e870ab6.jpg

Congrats! The change is huge! You must be so proud of what you've accomplished!

  3. OMG! My BMI is 33.3 and according to the chart I am still obese. I feel like I have almost disappeared. My body has really changed, and I like it. However, I am wondering how much more I can loose, and where is it going to come from???

That's my BMI! I know exactly what you mean. Not much longer and we'll be into "overweight." Judging by how much I get sore when I sit too long, I think mine is coming from my butt! :(

I think BMI charts are so unrealistic. Alot of people I've seen who get down into the "normal" category look too thin (and unhealthy). JMO.

Congrats on your success so far!

I think as we get to the normal range we have to really rely on our team to help us figure out how much body fat we have, rather than BMI due to bone weight and skin and so forth. Congrats on your success *wild applause*

  4. I only need to loose one more pound and I will no longer be obese.

  5. I am on post op day 7...... I feel like I am loosing my mind. I am trying to get my protein in and am not hungry but am getting shaky. I know I need to eat, My surgeon said I could go ahead and eat yogurt and sweet potatoes crushed up. I am down 7 lbs. Any advice would be appreciated.

Do just as your doctor says. Eat on a schedule if you aren't hungry: set amounts at set times. Your body needs fuel even if you aren't hungry.

focus on one task at a time--one day at a time. Get that task done, get through today and tomorrow will be easier. Just do it!

  6. OMG its finally here .... The day I can stop stabbing myself in the tummy twice a day with heperin. I can't tell you how HAPPY I am...My black and blue painful skin can now recover!!

Well done! I must admit I am not looking forward to that bit (I don't suppose anyone does!) but it's a small price to pay. Keep up the good work x

Before plastic surgery. Post weight loss

I had Gastric Sleeve Surgery August 2011. I losit 120lbs. My weight on these pictures was 142lbs. They were taken my my plastic surgeon, Dr Victor Gutierrez located in Baja California, Tijuana, Mexico. I chose him as my plastic suregeon based on his educational background, experience, professionalism, health care concern and reasonable price quote. This pictures clearly show lots of extra skin. My asymmetrical breasts, hanging stomach, and flat butt.
  8. did anyones health care cover excess skin surgery ?? if so

    1. JamieLogical

      JamieLogical

My health insurance policy explicitly states it won't cover skin removal surgery post-WLS. I paid for my skin surgery out of pocket in Mexico. Had a great experience and ended up really glad I had to pay for it myself, because the level of care and personal attention I received in Mexico was WAY above and beyond anything I would have received in the US.

    2. KellyKell

      KellyKell

Blue Cross Blue Shield has covered it in the past. That was a few years ago so I am not sure about now.

  14. Met with my surgeon today to tie up last minute loose ends. Filled and picked up my prescriptions for liquid vicodin, antacids, and chewable calcium. Picked some gas x, fiber chewables, liquid multi vitamins, and a pill crusher at Walgreens. My protein powders and new blender bottles came in yesterday, I believe I am prepared! One thing bothers me, can't get my engagement ring off!! :-/

Saw my Dr today and they want me to loose 32 lbs pre surgery! bummer! I have to follow their 1200 cal diet...I am praying I can do it!!!

  25. Thank you. Perhaps at some point if I come into some cash, I will convert. I'm not sure if it is the band that is working for me or it having it has given me to reason to work so hard at loosing. I guess either way you look at it it must be doing the trick for me.
