November Surgery Buddies!!!
Spinoza replied to Tristenhilpert97's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi all, just saying hello after lurking for a day or two. I'm so glad to have found you all - was floundering around on Google looking for answers and they're mighty thin on specifics. I need DETAILS guys! I had a sleeve gastrectomy last Wednesday November 17 so I'm day 7 today. I have some residual pain in the left side of my abdomen - I've had a lot more pain than I expected actually but other than that everything is going really well. Super tired today but I suppose that's to be expected! Still on the emotional rollercoaster - full of optimism for my new life but simultaneously grieving the loss of my closest companion of many years, overeating. I'm in Ireland so I will keep strange hours compared to you lot, but that's good for me - you'll all be here for me when I can't sleep! -
My surgery time is finally here.

On October 4 I had gastric bypass, the first few weeks on purée and liquid stage was fine. once I reach soft food, it seem as if I could eat more than I should have. I have message my team and nutrition regarding this and they have told me that as long as I’m losing then I shouldn’t worry. there has been a few times that I would blank out and binge eat, in the course of doing that I noticed that I don’t have any restriction or discomfort when eating. This already have happened three or four times. Obviously I’m aware that I am a food attic and one of the reasons of me getting the surgery was to restrict the amount of food that I could eat and while choosing healthier options which I have been doing ,but because of weak moments is that I am unable to control myself I end up purging on food that I shouldn’t have. Just really has been a mental challenge for me and I feel as if my restriction is not there and mentally have to remind myself not to over eat have this happen to anyone? I am posting this because I want advice or any other alternative or things that I could do to improve this I already go to therapy and trying to understand my relationship with food. Sometimes I feel like I made the mistake of having the surgery.

Last nutrition class finished, now what? And usually how long?
Newly new posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello everyone 😊 I finished my last nutrition class on the 11th of November and now I am curious what is happening next? How long was it for you to get the call for your surgery date? I met my weight loss goal and passed most of my scheduled drug test ( I fail once for alcohol but that was because I thought my appointment was the week after and my friend had a birthday party the day before 😮💨 lol) -
I had surgery last November. Thanksgiving consisted of a pumpkin spice shake. Lol

Nervous about Mexico but financially ,my only option. Can someone recommend a doctor that actually does a virtual consult? I have called several places with no luck. I do not want surgery without at least a virtual consult first. Someone safe with a zero death record? Please help

Since my bypass surgery Friday I have had an intense sore throat. May be swollen even. Hard and painful to swallow and very dry, very horse but that is subsiding. When does this Improve? Actually my throat is more painful and tough to deal with than the urgency itself and aftermath. Serious thick phlegm too…. Anyth8ng to relieve this pain and irritation?

Fellow Mini Gastric Bypasser/Omega Looper here! Congrats on getting yours! My main focus is getting in my protein and water, which I double-up on with protein water twice a day (28g protein each), and protein-fortified soy milk (10g per 250ml). Then my supplement vitamins just before bed so I don't risk accidentally washing them through my system with water. My routine is protein water as soon as I get up, and another in the afternoon. I have regular water and protein-fortified soy unsweetened matcha lattes (maximum of 2) throughout the rest of the day, leaving spaces for solid food. Since you've just come out of hospital, you're still on liquids, so you've likely been told to have protein shakes. If you can tolerate them (I tried my best, but after six weeks, I just couldn't do the shakes anymore so switched to just protein water), then you'll skate through, but if you can't then keep protein water in mind.

Hi everyone! I had my surgery 11 days ago and I am down 16 lbs😁 So exciting! Ready for puréed for just in time for thanksgiving! Hope all my November buddies are doing well!😊 -
I had gastric bypass on 09/09/2021 and I have lost 39 lbs. so far after 10 1/2 weeks. Is this a normal amount of weight loss for that amount of time? People will ask me how much weight I've lost and when I tell them they ask if I've been cheating. I have been following the plan but it bothers me that I'm not losing faster.

Is GERD worse in the beginning months after surgery?
new nrshere replied to lindseylovesdogs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to maybe have medications changed out for GERD and If that MD not wanting to help with Sleeve or Bypass get somebody’s else., For me Cov19 hit and nothing was open or working and before that I was having major issues with GERD and Sleeve issues and Never Again Use Service with Beverly Hills Physical Group in Los Angeles for Sleeve or Bypass or Plastic Surgery never again very bad place., things got Delayed and I find New Team of MD who know their business and Care., you have to get another team of MD and Education your self and drink water by slip and eat slow and get help asap., -

new nrshere replied to loveoften's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
🤞 Good Luck, I just had my 2nd surgery from Sleeve issues to Bypass on 11/15/21 I was very luck to have great Md this time around and had me take Sleeve and Bypass and Nutrients Classese before doing anything of surgery the 2nd time around. I was large person my whole life but I reach a max weight of 420 and got down to 245 with old fashioned way diet and become gym rat., after that got down 218 was not moving., I took this classes for 4 months and it took me away and I start to drop weight in two months went to 187 now., im fighter and my mind is set to never use foods to control something out of my control and to face it head on., I was good to block out Pain I didn’t come to this after losing beloved Family’s Members and used foods to not deal with it. But now it’s did story., Good Luck with things and keep in touch -
You have to set your mind and get rid of old habits., I get you I was like this before but after I got my 2nd Surgery from Sleeve headache by Md to bypass., I took classes in Nutrition relationship with Sleeve and Bypass and Realtionship with food., I drop a lot of weight before my 2nd surgery I didn’t really need to my case was special type case., I’m happy I got the bypass it’s not easy this new one but I came prepared this time around.

November Surgery Buddies!!!
TristenM87 replied to Tristenhilpert97's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello everyone my name is Tristen and I live in Eugene, Oregon. I just had gastric sleeve this Monday the November 15th. I am trying to navigate thru this journey and would love to chat with other folks that are going thru the same thing. -
I'm almost 2 months out from a Mini Gastric Bypass/Omega Loop, and I still struggle to eat more than 1/4 cup of food twice a day. I'm supposed to be trying for 6 times a day, increasing to 1/2 a cup, but it is just not happening for me yet. That said, I have managed to increase the amount a little, and now hover between 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup, depending on what the food is. I still can only manage that 2 to 3 times a day though. My nutritionist tells me not to stress about it, and just concentrate on hitting my protein, water and daily supplements, which I do. Thank god for protein water, or I'd be in trouble! That's just me though - a lot of folk seem to have an easier time of it!
