Curious if others experienced sudden rapid weight gain when C-19 hit?
Debbie69 posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had my VS in 2012, lost 150 lbs and maintained that loss almost effortlessly for 8 years, then Covid hit and in a matter of 3 months I gained 80 lbs back WITHOUT CHANGING MY EATING HABITS!!! I feel like I’ve been robbed. By no fault of my own, the weight came back and stayed. I still can only consume 4 or 5 bites to eat and I’m full. I just don’t understand why this happened and if I do a revision to a DS will that help? -

I need help from some long term post sleeve people. I am about 10years out and over the last 2 years have gained back 75lbs. I am still 75lbs down from my high weight, but I am not in a happy place with my weight and eating. I feel like I can eat almost normally now and that is not good. Has anyone gone through this and got their restriction back? What did you do? Thanks Devon Sent from my SM-G981U using BariatricPal mobile app

4 months out, having a bad day. Ate an entire 10" pizza
Jonathan Carlson posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Do you know what a 10" south shore bar pizza is? They are served bars south of Boston for the most part and are delicious. Today, the Cape Cod Cafe (not on Cape Cod and not a cafe either) serves $6 cheese pizzas. Absolutely delicious. I bought one figuring that I'd eat half for lunch. I had it in the car and couldn't wait to get home. Started eating , and kept eat slowly over the course of 45 min until it was all gone. Oh no! What have I done?! I'm scaring myself a bit because I'm only 4 months out and don't want a big stomach. How come some foods allow me to eat normal portions or even over-eat, and other foods, like eggs, keep me line?. In addition to pizza, I can eat a lot of salmon too (2 fillets). Anyway, looking for explanations, encouragement and support. Many thanks. I started at 386, and after about 4 months ( in a week) I'm down 72 lbs. That's the good news. But I'm not even half way to my goal, hence the worrying. -

10 weeks out from surgery- struggling to find what works
MelbaT posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hello all, I'm 10 weeks out from RNY and overall doing pretty good. My problem is I can't plan my food menu because one day I'll like a food, like eggs, and the next day it repulses me. Can't stand the smell of it. I'm like this with almost everything I'm eating. I can NOT do shakes ever again. I tried again about a month ago and gagged and threw it out along with the damn shaker bottle. Same with soups and broths. Can't even look at them. ONe day I'll do good with chicken and the next it sickens me. I'm often hungry, but eating makes me feel like crap. I enjoy nothing. I eat slow and don't eat until I am too full, so it's not like I'm overeating and getting sick from a food and then not wanting to eat it again. It makes me sad. Frustrating as hell. I'm hungry now, but nothing sounds good, looks good or tastes good. I often feel crappy after eating. Nauseated. Again, not eating until I'm too full, so it doesn't make sense to me. My dietician wants me to get in more protein but I can't figure out how. There is a part of me that wishes I never would've had the surgery because I'm so sick of feeling like crap. I have low/no energy. I'm taking all my vitamins and supplements. Anyone else have this problem? Will it get better over time? I have no idea what I'll take to work for lunch tomorrow. The chicken I made yesterday is grossing me out now. UGH!! Advice? I'm 34 pounds down now. I'm stalled but feel like it's because I'm not eating enough. I cannot do yogurt or much cheese as I have a hard time with milk products as well. Ack! One more thing I'll add is that I found I can't tolerate sugar free things either. I don't know if it's the xylitol, artificial sweeteners or what. Not eating sugary things either. -
10 months PO severe pain under left rib radiating to shoulder
Kate207 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Around 5 months ago (I would've been 5 months PO then as 10 months PO now) I started to get a sharp constant stabbing pain under my left rib. It has come and gone over the months and I mentioned it to my consultant who ordered a CT scan which I'm still waiting on the results for. But its really gotten worse over the last few weeks now radiating to my left shoulder making breathing painful. I've had some nausea and sweating with it also. I went to A+E and all tests came back fine. X ray showed a build up of poop so they diagnosed constipation and after some suppositories I had a full clear out. The pain continued. Ended up in A+E again and they're stumped. Ruled out heart attack and blood clots etc and sent me home. I chased up my CT scan results today but they haven't looked at them yet. Has anyone experienced this? I keep seeing gas pain in search results but could this really be gas again? I thought I was over the gas pain weeks out. This feels a bit different. -
Hi! I am brand new here! I have been looking around the site a little and reading some of the posts. I have never really used any kind of forum so this is kind of a new way to socialize and get support. I am having a lot of emotions, up and down. I am 55, so a whole new lifestyle is kind of scary even if it is a better one! Just trying to be emotionally prepared and I know it’s like becoming a parent, you can prepare all you want and then realize, after the baby comes, you had no idea…

I’m at almost a decade post op and moved away years ago from where I had RNY surgery. Over the past six months I e had repeated abdominal pain that my Dr keeps trying me on Pepcid for and is referring me to a gastroenterologist. I’d like to find one with experience/interest working w post- bariatric patients but most bariatric specialists are surgeons. Anyone else dealt with this? Particularly in the Phoenix area? Ty!

10 years since Gastric Bypass, and putting weight back on !
Maria Hamilton posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi I had a gastric bypass just over 10 years ago. I did fantastic and lost over half my initial starting weight. I have kept most of it off but 2stone is creeping back on and I am scared I do not want to go back to that place. Has anyone else had this challenge and what have you done to get back on track ? -

10 weeks and I'm still struggling with appetite
mamoosbabes posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
How many struggle with eating after gastric bypass surgery? I've followed all the instructions (ie chewing well, waiting between bites, etc), but can't hardly stand the taste of most foods I eat. I've particularly had problems with protein shakes, protein water and protein powders. Some days I feel like I don't even want to eat. I'm concerned because I never reach the amount of protein and water recommended. Will this ever end? Good news is I've lost 48 lbs since November 23, 2022. 10 years now having VSG to Bypass in 2 weeks
Dan1131 posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I’m having my 2013 sleeve converted to bypass on 1/9/2023 because of GERD. I’m not too happy that I have to go through with this as I never wanted a full bypass and have enjoyed being able to still eat a some what normal diet (albeit with less volume than pre sleeve). I’m down between 60-70 lbs from my top weight pre sleeve. Not as much as I really need to feel good in my body but certainly healthier. a few questions: Anyone done this and can share their experience? Will I ever be able to eat again? I know I will but the sleeve was pretty forgiving, everything I read about bypass with the emphasis on protein, chewing 20x, not drinking 15 min before or after eating, makes me think the little enjoyment I got from a good meal after VSG is over, even that is gone. What was you weight loss when you went from sleeve to bypass? I’ve heard I can expect maybe 10-15%. beyond where I am now Any tips or things to watch out for? I’ll be glad to get rid of the GERD and hopefully avoid all the bad things that can come from that but I’m super worried I won’t be able to follow the bypass regime and have other health problems from not following things as directed. -
Hey all I seem to be vomiting up food after I try and eat anything solid , for example I tried a cheeseburger , ate 3 bites and vomited up the 3 bites. Is my stomach still ajusting to my sleeve ? Hello I’m new to this forum definitely glad I found it. Sx date 11/1 got lucky someone cancelled. Had the most pain day 2-5 but now doing a little better. The main incision for me has been itching and a little hard but overall no complaints. I was previously use to just going to the store and picking up anything now I’m really reading labels . This is a life changing experience and journey and hope and pray that everyone gets through it and start to embracing this new healthy life style
