I have Soups and stir in unflavored Protein powders as well. I'm avoiding yogurt as I don't tolerate it well. -

I always have some almonds handy, but I like a good Quest protein bar or some Greek yogurt with a scoop of vanilla protein.

I'm about 13 days post op I'm still on my full liquid stage idk if this is gas, or I'm actually hungry...I go to drink water or eat some yogurt but about 30 mins later...that same rumbling its driving me crazy bcuz..I'm craving some solid foods...any body having the same issues!?
-
I'm a little further out, but I could always hold 6oz. of yogurt/soup and only 3 - 4oz. of more dense protein like chicken or fish.

I'm on day 4 of my 2 week liquid pre op diet, and I'm having similar issues with digestion and stomach cramps. I've also had 2 really intense charlie horses since being on this diet. What are you having for liquids? My diet is 3 Glucose Control Boost drinks and 2 100 cal ff yogurts. The thought of Boost and yogurt is making me gag at this point, and I still have 10 more days. I am sooooo hungry, but I want to make my liver as small as possible. I just hoping that the hunger goes away post op.

5 Hours Later And I Feel Like Im Gonna Pop!
delta_girl replied to SeriouslyChange's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first two weeks was only liquids, too. Clear broth, diluted juice, shakes mixed with water, sugar free popsicles, tea. I couldn't even have jello, pudding, yogurt, or baby food until weeks 3-4. -

Yeah ur stomachs probably telling u it's not ready, I was on liquids for 2 weeks, nothing but Protein shakes, drinking yogurts, thin Soup and Water. Even when I moved to the purée stage I stuck to mainly Protein Shakes just to try and get in the protein -
Sadly before surgery i loved premier shakes! Bought tons of them! I have one left and some powder. I've been making 4oz shakes with half a scoop of Protein Powder which is about 18.5g a serving (with lactose free milk) i do that 3 -4 times a.day to reach my protein goal, im having yogurt for Breakfast and dinner and a shake for my 'snacks' and a shake for lunch so far im down 2lbs since yesterday but ky sr said if its not more then 5lbs difference it isnt a loss

Yogurt I can have!!! No issues just no to milk, ice cream and sour cream
-
I am only about 3 months out bag. When I feel panicked about my choices or any guilt I just go back to the liquid diet, the premier protein, yogurt, for a couple days. Of course I am only 3 months out and it’s more in my head that feeling of guilt then me actually doing bad. Maybe that will help you.

Happy Holidays everyone. Just wanted you all to know I did end up losing 7 pounds after 14 days of hellish torture LOL. My doctor said my liver shrank a little but not a lot. He said it will continue to shrink as I lose weight. I was on 19 medications and he said that can sometimes have an effect on the shrinking... so now we know. Surgery went well and other than feeling like I did 100 situps I wouldn't really know I had surgery. No real after effects. I threw up once in the hospital when I took too many of my 19 meds at once but other than that no other issues. I'm back to drinking normally with no problem. Still no food yet, I have 8 more days to go to get to puree but I get milk and yogurt on Wed and I'm really looking forward to it. I think it will settle okay but will do small amounts at first. Thanks, everyone for being so nice and supportive! Love this group!

Ok you fell off the wagan, not good, but pick yourself up, dust yourself off and go forward. Many of us lead busy hectic lives and we all must find a balance. You must find a balance to your life. As far as meals go I choose to cook each night and one night a week the hubs and I eat out or order out, but I choose healthy opitons when we do. Some people find it easy to crockpot meals- put everything in let it cook while you are at work and when you get home - vola dinner is done. (great recipes online) Some opt to cook meals on the weekend and place them in indiviual containers and take them out each night and heat. Some great times savers I have found are steam fresh veggies in the freezer section- yummy and quick - add a little canned chicken or tuna you have a meal. Tuna is a great time saver- great Protein source and they even have the little packs that you can take with you and mix your own tuna salad. In a pinch WW Smart One Meals - just watch sodium levels and calories. Greek yogurt- add a little flax seed or granola for bulk and a few frozen berries and you have a yummy Breakfast or lunch. There are ways to lead a busy life and eat clean, just think about ways you can fit it in and make a plan a head of time. Having plan makes it easier than flying by the seat of your pants.

I'm two weeks out from sleeve and I have lots of "noise" when I eat, although I'm only eating fluids and yogurt at this point. I have gas/burping too. If I drink too big a gulp or drink too fast or eat too much yogurt/soup at once it's worse. Try smaller sips at a time or eating more slowly. Not sure if you're still on liquids. I start solids tomorrow. Can't wait!

I am 10 days into my sleeve and this morning I have noticed my stomach starting to rumble which stopped after I finished my protein shake. Whats weird is how my brain is processing it and the best way to describe it is confused. I am eager to move to full liquid to see what my sleeve will handle with semi solids like yogurt. Is this normal at all? I have not deviated from the clear liquid at all yet. I havent felt that tingling or full sensation since day two when I first began to sip liquids. I can handle 8oz of liquid so far no problem but havent attempted to go beyond that. I have my first follow up on Thursday.

Stomach hungry but brain is not?
Brent701 replied to Brent701's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I am on something I didnt realize it was a PPI. 30 days something for stomach acid. Last night i was cleared for full liquids and today I tried Dannon light and fit and sf pudding. My plan calls for 1oz but I was able to finish both 4 oz cups. I assume this feeling of restriction is going to come from foods that are more dense. Perhaps greek yogurt I would feel it more just have to get some from the store. Is the 1oz per serving more of a safety thing or weight loss related because Im only getting a bit over 330 calories per day all from my protein shakes so far and cant see the harm in having a 4oz serving of yogurt or pudding. Still not feeling any signs of hunger or cravings. -
The honeymoon phase (+more)

My forever "diet" calls for 60-80g of Protein a day. Even at almost 15 months out, I have little room for fruits and veggies during a meal. I do 6 mini meals a day because my restriction is very tight. Can you do Beans? Tofu? Vegan Cottage cheese and Greek yogurt? -
Freaking out - help please

A low gi diet is foods that are basically labeled, red, yellow and green. Red foods, dont eat, yellow watch it, moderation once in a while and green means you can have them. 100 = sugar, its a measure of how fast you can digest foods I believe. berries, stonefruits, good, figs are high gi. whole grains are better than instant rice. Instant rice is the worst rice, like 87, but it also depends on how its cooked and how long. If you boil whole grain rice 20 minutes its lower gi, most of the starch is removed. the only potatoes semi ok, are new potatoes, very small, boiled, no baked potatoes which have much more starch. the lowest gi food is yogurt, that is artifically sweetened or unsweetened believe it or not, high Protein, about 57 value gi, the lower the better for you. I got the books on how to eat low gi free from my library. It works better for me than low calorie or low fat. -
Revision questions for those who can relate!

Ok I hear what you guys are saying just because I CAN eat 8oz doesn't mean I have to. I wish sometimes I didn't feel hungry. It looks like everyone is having difficulty eating 500calories and I eat 800calories easily and am totally satufied by the end of the day. I'm not eating tortillas or breads. I eat Beans and mean and cottage cheese. Is it ok to eat the Chobani flavored Greek yogurt cups? Those are where my carbs/sugar comes from daily. Is that bad? It's 6oz and I can eat the entire thing for breakfast. Is that too much? It does keep me satisfied. I figure I lost 16lbs in 5weeks I'm losing slow and steady but healthy. I get too wrapped up in reading other people losing 40lbs in two months and eating 400calories a day. I know I'm working out 4x a week and eating good Protein. Thanks for listening!!! -
We're bring Thanksgiving to my Dad's house, so it'll be just the three of us. *Roast a small turkey at home. Cut it up and divide dark and white meat. White for me. *Oven roasted Butternut Squash. *Stuffing (which I don't eat). *Cranberry sauce (just a teeny bit for me). *Gravy (for the boys) I wanted to make my famous Key Lime Pie, or make some other fascinating dessert (to show off) but I need it to be something I can eat, so it'll be fresh fruit diced real small, and some sort of topping/mix in...I was thinking honey greek yogurt, or light Cool Whip. You got any ideas? I don't need the extra's, just want to make it more interesting for the boys. All of this I can take home for leftovers, or freezing. I don't know what I'll be drinking, as in the past I always drank cranberry juice. Oddly, I am very comfortable with the dinner/day...I don't have a big family to cook for, or children to please. I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving!

Overwhelmed at the thought of the new way of life I will have to adapt
NavyMom2006 replied to MauiGirl5555's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I'm here to throw my 2 cents in, since I'm pretty new to the process - 2 weeks post surgery. I was in the hospital overnight, and while a bit nauseous, was able to get down Water and a bit of diluted apple juice. The first couple of days home I was so tired I slept most of the day and night. I started on the Protein drink (Pure Protein) and although it took a couple of hours to drink one, I managed to get in two per day. Now I can finish one in about an hour. Progress!!! I did have some cream of chicken Soup the other night, which was delish. I had just a bit of yogurt the other day, and some cottage cheese yesterday. You really think you're going to be able to eat a small container full, but believe me, you can't! I have tried to eat more than a couple of spoonfuls and you feel it right in your throat. If you don't stop, then you're going to be throwing up and that hurts worse! The "good" thing about all that is that you're really not hungry, so the two or three spoonfuls is actually good. You get the taste of whatever it is you're eating, and it really is enough to satisfy. Shoot, it even takes me 10-15 minutes to eat sugar free Jello cup! I'm so content with the two Protein shakes and tons of water a day, that I'm not really even motivated to "eat" other foods, but know that I need to at some point. That to me is the scariest part of this at this point. -
Can I have this?
VSG_Man_Vs_Food replied to Vsgneeded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are clear protein drinks like premier protein and isopure. "Better than Bouillon" broth is very good, and you can have sf jello and popsicles. On full liquids, strained soups and greek yogurts are good. A great combo is enchilada soup and some mashed avocado mixed with sour cream! My wife is 3 weeks out so I've been following along, my surgery is in 10 days. HW: 330 lb SW: TBD 6/27/2017 CW: 302 lb GW: 180 lb VSG, Dr. Jawad, Orlando, FL -
Welcome. Did your doc/ nut give you a plan to follow post op? If you google puréed foods you will get a ton of good recipes. Ricotta bake is one I like a lot. Homeade soups and broths are a good choice. Yogurt, cottage cheese, tuna, chicken, and egg salad also.
