Hi LESFLUFFYZ,
On the internet, we are all near-neighbours! I've had no protein supplements, but am trying to get it all from food, as advised by my doctor. Canned tuna with a drop of light mayo is good, and I had carpaccio for dinner last night, which must have given me a few grams! If I have had a 'bad day' when I can't eat, I have a SlimFast drink mid-afternoon. I am convinced my scales are broken, as I've stalled again!!

Hey sweetie and thank you! I don't feel like I'm melting but I know it is a good pace! I have carried the weight my whole life but yes I'm 27 so I'm sure that does help. I haven't been tracking the past couple weeks but when I was, my carbs were anywhere from 35grms-60grms a day. I haven't really changed what I'm eating so that's probably where it's at. I honestly don't think lack of carbs is a huge deal, but having ENOUGH protein is. I was really slow going for a few weeks and then I started adding a protein shake back in and poof 6 lbs in 8 days. I think it is helping a lot. Gave me a little more energy too.

Thanks I'm still going to have it I just have to go through a VA hospital. The only thing I have to do that this VA requires, and my surgeon did not was to lose 10 pounds on a supervised diet like weight watchers. So I'm joining next week, and was thinking about doing a preop diet so I can lose my ten pounds quickly. lol THanks for the encouragement, and I have to keep my faith otherwise I would not of made it this far. I wish I could just self pay but being a single mother that lives from pay day to pay day it is out of the question. It will happen I just don't know when, and it is not going to be fast enough for me.

Hi there! I guess you could say I am dieting...sticking to protein first and trying to get in all my fluids each day. I keep my carbs around 30g per day.
I'm not exercising much and I'm sure if I would I'd be losing a little better...it's just so danged HOT. Sounds like you're in the dreaded 3 week stall...it happens to most of us but it will pass. Did you take measurements of yourself before surgery? It was nice to see the inches coming off even when the scale wasn't moving.
Also are you journaling what you eat everyday? That's been a tremendous help to me. I use Free Calorie Counter, Diet & Exercise Journal | MyFitnessPal.com to log everything everyday.
Oh and feel free to write me anytime!

Jennifer, did you have your appointment today? How did it go? Girl.... just another week to go. I have a little update on me. My insurance case manager at Dr. Hohen's office informed me today they finally have all of my paperwork together and was going to submit my letter of necessity to my insurance for approval. Even with insurance I'm still going to have to pay out of pocket probably a few thousand. That's OK I have FSA because I knew I was going to be having WLS. I'm pumped for you and me. Yippee!!! :thumbup:Holla back.

It is nice to see someone close to home with whom i can network. How are you doing with regular food are you dieting or just using your surgery to control what and how much you eat. I'm 3wks post-op i lost 13lbs but nothing since last week i'm concerned but it's still early. I just have to remember it didn't happen overnight so it won't fall off overnight right

Hey Jennifer, what did you think about giving yourself those injections to prevent blood clots. I was a little bit leary at first, but then peeps starting telling me it wasn't that bad, plus my daughter said she would if I couldn't. So I guess I'm cool about it now. Thank goodness. I take it you haven't heard anything yet? Have a good week at work. TTYL.

wow.. your amazing.. Listen for the past week . my weight loss has stop it goes up a lb, then down a lb. its crazy because AI always watche what I eat and walk and doo aerobics and swim atleast once a week, I sometime burn more calories than I eat. I only eat 800- 1200 cal per day. I think I get all my protein. what can I do to get me moving again. its only been 8 weeks now..but I am so tired of still being FAT!!!! i know its a mental thing but I want this stuff gone.

Hey Missy Carolyn,
Thanks for the nice comments. I look baggie, too, and not happy about that, but comes with the territory of major fast weight loss. I've also had a piriformis muscle issue on the left glute that's bugging the sh*t out of me, painful. Doc says due to the weight loss. I'll go back to Mexico to get rid of all the hanging skin - Dr. Bell0 - already got the quote. Just waiting for my DH's job situation to settle before I set a date. I don't get in nearly the protein I should be; my calorie count is still very low, though, and I have 8 pounds to goal. I drink my protein drinks maybe 2X a week.

Sorry to hear your having a bit of a rough time!!! Keep sipping and walking! You are going to do great! I feel 10x better since getting my drain out! I'm still trying to get enough fluids in. My Dr. let's you advance to full liquids(creme soups, cream of wheat, etc) the 2nd week, but I'm going to take that slow because this is still "big loss" time and I don't want to rush into food yet! Once I can get all my fluids (64+ oz h20) then I'll advance. I'm pretty close to that. I also want to find a site online to keep track of everything. Have you picked a site?

Yeah! So glad you got it approved! I just got sleeved on the 18th of May! One week today! You'll do awesome! Thanks for adding a picture I like to place a face with a name! Do you have any pre-op diet to follow from your Dr.?
-
So your surgery got moved up a week? Lucky you. I am so excited I can't wait for the 28th of June.
-
Best of luck to you Maddie, who is your doctor? Are you on the pre-diet yet? That was tough but I made it through. The first day after surgery is rough too but it keeps on getting better. I feel so much better. This is really great! Although I have to be honest, a few days after I had a couple of bad crying spells...to be expected. They call it Buyers Remorse! Again, I got through it and it has been great these past couple of weeks, especially getting started on real food!

Hi Carla,
Things went well with my PCP. He says that he will refer me to a surgeon and he thinks that i am a good candidate. I am going to have a sleep study done within the next few weeks. That same week I called the BRS center and was awaiting a call back. Today I got a callback and found I that I do not have the mordbid obeasity services in my benefits.
A total bummer! I am in a loss for words. I want to go thru with the referral but I am unsure how far I am going to get... I really don't have the money to pay out of pocket but I can't forget about having my surgery either. IDK?

It sounds like you are doing pretty well on pre-op. I battled the whole "being perfect" thing as well - I was on it for 3 weeks. I completely cracked mid diet and cheated because I felt like I was losing my mind, then I really had to say to myself.."Just do the best you can and that will have to be good enough." You'll be just fine:) When my Dr. asked me how much I followed it, I told him about 80% of the time and I was proud of my accomplishment. You can do it Happy Destiny!!!! Good luck this week:)
-
Hey girlie....I was wondering how you were doing post-op?? I saw where you posted that you were only off work for a week...how did that go? I am a nail tech at a salon and was thinking about taking about the same amount of time off.....
-
I was just wondering how you were doing and if you have had to start a pre-op diet yet? Mine is a week of clear liquids and protein drinks. I started today and so far so good!

I was very happy with the care I received. I have had no issues at all, quit taking pains meds at 3 days post op; never had much pain except my chest for the first 24 hours after surgery; no leaks, infections; my local primary doc took out my stitches and said it all looked great. I have been very happy with my sleeve but was nervous as heck the last few days before surgery. I also went down a couple of weeks ago with TiffanyIsMajor. I truly did not see anything on either visit that would keep me from going there again or sending a friend there. Have you seen my thread: Mexico or Bust? I have a long review there. If you can find it, let me know. You can also ask me any questions in a private message if you like.
