How much to lose before plastics
O-Town Body Rock replied to deedadumble's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
@@Hynita How are the results of your TT and aug after you lost the weight and got down to 155? Do you have excess skin in the tummy? Do the girls hang a little bit more? I am going to need a tummy tuck revision from a tuck done in 2005 before I gained all of this weight. -
How much to lose before plastics

This is interesting but just to be clear - it does not address excess skin, right? In my case I didn't really have stubborn fat ... but stubborn skin...haha. -
23 years young...October 17th!
ryn61363 replied to skinnymolly's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Molly! Hope you're feeling better I'm 24 (Starting weight 114kg/251lbs) and I had my sleeve done on oct 9, it's been a little over a week now and I'm pretty much recovered. I now weigh around 105kg/231lbs. I'm just worried about scarring! Instead of sutures, my surgeon put derma-glue on it and it's healing well. The first day was hell with lots of gas and plenty of black out moments.. A nightmare. But it got progressively better as the hours went by and I was discharged on the 2nd day. I've been able to drink over 2 litres a day and get my Protein in and I can't wait till I can eat puréed stuff! I can already feel some of my clothes hanging a bit loose I started walking 2 hours a day, 1 hour at a time after the first week. Exercise has become easier cos there's less of me to lug around and do stuff. That part I definitely love. Time to build a new body and start living! My surgeon told me the highest weight loss would be within the first 3 months post surgery, so we need to work our butts off during this period to lose as much weight as possible before it slows, and I intend to do just that! -
I was sleeved 2/20/12 and I have lost 63 lbs in 12 weeks...I started as a 42DDD, now I am a loose 40DD, because that's the smallest bra I own. I honestly believe I could easily wear a 38DD, but I'm desperately trying to not buy new bras until I hit 75 lbs down because of the expense. The girls are much smaller, but I've had them since I was 12 and my back & shoulders are glad to see the extra weight go! I don't want implants, but after 4 kids I definately plan on a lift & reduction! I want pretty, small, perky boobies that don't make my back & shoulders hurt! (And that will look cute in my bellydancing costumes!) Sent from my iPhone using VST

Random question..... When having a Sleeve. Do the Drs remove the same amount of stomach from every patient? They said I have a reallllly small stomach. I don't get it! How can I be overweight. If I have a small stomach then did they not remove that much? Will I still be able to loose 100 lbs?! Just some thoughts going through my head!!

Well April 25th is fastly approaching and i am both excited and scared, excited to start a new chapter in my life but scared of the actual surgery. I have only been put under anesthesia once in my life when i was about 4 years old to get my tonsils out and i don't even remember it. I am required to have a 1 month medifast diet before my surgery and i am currently in week 2 of that and its KILLLLING me i have slightly cheated but nothing like in the past and i have lost a total of 11lbs which feels so good! When i went to my doctors appt on Wednesday(at that point i had lost 7lbs) to get weighed in the nurse told me it was not enough and i needed to do better i was in TOTAL shock i mean come on i have never lost that much weight in a week and i was soo proud of myself and she just bashed me down. She them stated i needed to kick it in gear so they don't reschedule my surgery, i told my friends who have had weight loss surgery this and they both said she was crazy and that i was doing a great job. The doctor gave me one month to loose 26lbs on medifast which is possible if you have ONLY shakes for 4 weeks but i get extremely sick on the shakes if i just eat those so i substitutes 3 shakes for 1 meal a day (a VERY low cal meal). I guess i am just tired of doing this and this waiting game i want my surgery and i want it now hahahaha even though i am scared i know i have my angel with me (my grandfather) who will protect me! Thanks for listening and comments are more than welcome:smile: Kayla

I've found myself so hungry lately. Just one day it hit me, I'm starving! I'm really working on will power this last 2 weeks. I'm down to 220, lower than my last weight watchers weight. So for that I'm happy. But I'm no longer loosing either. I scheduled my first fill. And I'm glad I called because they couldn't get me in for a week and a half. So reminder to self : call right away. I just called to confirm, and they still don't have an exact time for me to come in and they won't even have one till wednesday or thursday of t his week. I'm off that day, so any time will do, just as long as I get one. I'm still mulling over joining the gym in my area. I'm still undecided at this point. My next weight loss goal is 199. So, 21 more pounds to loose!

HELP!!!! I have lunch in one hour!!!!
Wheetsin replied to carolel's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Mashed potatoes are mushy. Chicken can be a mushy if you're able to get it wet - e.g. remove the skin, shred the chicken, and stir in some mayo for instant chicken salad. If that's not an option, then can you find a way out of it? You have a meeting, you aren't feeling well, you have an errand to run... ? If you're still in the mushy stage, then this is a little beyond cheating and into disregarding medical recovery orders. Trust me - that's somewhere you don't want to go. Lots of badness can happen. You need to make sure your tummy has time to heal. -
That is so awesome. I hope that WHEN I lose 100 lbs I will still have money to go get some proceedures done to remove skin on arms and belly. I am self pay on the surgury too so at a year, I will still be paying for it. But skinny with some lose skin sounds a hell of alot better than were I am at right now! Will be banded on 5/22! It cannot get her fast enough!

13 Months Post-Op! Woohoo!
livvsmum replied to NewSetOfCurves's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You look great! I'm jealous of your arms. You don't look like you have any excess skin. I'm working out a ton as well, but haven't found anything to make any significant difference in that excess arm skin. Any suggestions from your experience? -
Hi! My name is Tabitha...I'm 17 years old, 5'5" and 275lbs and my BMI is 45 and I'm am hoping to be banded. I've been overweight all my life and I want to get it taken care of now because being a teen and being big like me is really not easy...Mentally and physically..All of my friends are thin and active but me? I can't even walk up a flight of stairs without ending up out of breath. I'm tired of the back and knee pain...I've tried diets and I've been going to the gym for months but it's like my body refuses to loose weight. I'll loose a few pounds and turn around and gain back 2x what I lost and I don't want it to be this way anymore....I'm registered for a seminar on May 2nd and I was just wondering what all I should take to the seminar with me. I don't have an ID so if they want that is there anything else I can take to replace it? Thanks for reading,(:

The Girl Next Door has been banded..
bandelle replied to Thegirlnextdoor's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First of all, Congrats! I was banded on 10/6, so I'm a little ahead of you. I was not hungry for the first three or four days. After that, I got a little bit of an appetite, but a little Protein shake would satisfy me. I added a little Fiber powder to my shakes to avoid the constipation thing. As for being a bit loose, you have to remember, you're only taking in liquids and most likely have been for a week or more. You may also have a lactose issue, especially if you are making your shakes with milk. A lactose enzyme pill can help with that. Your appetite does come back, I am in bandster h-e-double toothpicks right now. I can't wait for my first fill. I was hoping to delay it until after the Thanksgiving holiday, but if my surgeon says I can have a fill tomorrow when I see her, I just may do that. -
The Girl Next Door has been banded..
sharnut replied to Thegirlnextdoor's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello - you almost are the girl next door, as I'm in Maine. I'm Sharon and was banded on 6/24/08 - it's been a wonderful experience and so glad that I've made this decision. When I started the pre-op diet I was 250.6 - this morning I was 210.6 - It's been a very slow process - that has become a journey. I've had 3 or 4 fills - my band holds 10cc's and I have 61/4 cc's in my band now. I could probably use some more restriction, but as long as I'm loosing and eating small amounts....I might hold off, as I don't want to overfill the band. Good luck!!!! -
Embarrassed by My Six Year Old
7 Bites_Jen posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am sitting here on the couch typing away and he starts playing with the skin on the underside of my upper arm. "Stop that!" I say. "But mama, it's funny! It's all wibbly-wobbly and stuff!" He replies as he continues to bat at it like a kitten batting at a ball of yarn. Yep. This is what a 100-lb loss gets ya! LOL That's okay. I'd rather have loose skin on my arms than an extra 100 pounds any day!! What's an embarrassing moment you've had since losing weight? -
Pre-Op Cold Feet Due to Family's WLS Disapproval :(
Butterflywarrior replied to Vagrant Violet's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Your story is powerful and relatable to me... I got lots of resistance from friends and at first from my mom but in the end it was about me and what I know about myself I did start seeing a psychologist twice a week for my eating and other emotional issues including PTSD and bipolar which was recently dx after over 10 years of a mislabel of major depressive disorder The one thing that concerns me is tge type of surgery your getting.... I was originally going to get RNY but got cold feet, ended up psych hospital and many other health flare ups. My BMI was 52 so rny fit however when my surgeon saw me again a number of months latter, he was vety reluctant to do rny due to the realization that my depression issues are severe and I need so much meds to manage multiple medical and psych conditions. He totally said gastric sleeve was best because the RNY malabsorption can really screw up your maintenance medications and is more complex them sleeve in terms of care. My psychiatrist also shared with me that he has a really hard time adjusting medications in his bypass patients So, I'm not sure why your surgeon hasn't brought this up...maybe he doesn't realize that you have clinical depression...I told my surgeon originally but he still didn't get it until he saw my record in the computer system around a year latter, he got to see the extent of my medical and psych issues and I had been cleared by their psychologist too!! So I'm just being super candid, vulnerable and open sharing my sensitive history with you bc it concerns me a lot My surgeon acknowledged that RNY was ideal for my BMI but not for my mefical/psych history He also asked for a letter from my mental health ppl about my readiness for weight loss surgery. I'm really glad he was through in the end and my mom felt better and supported me too. My therapist knew I read, researched and was more then ready and I have his support along the journey I think your sister and mom have genuine concerns even though loosing weight tge " regular" way is not research supported for really overweight people but you do need to be emotionally prepared for it. Good fortune -

I signed up as a loyal customer for three months and I would not recommend their products. I was skeptical and I should have trusted my instinct. The results from the wraps are temporary and you must drink a LOT of water while wearing them. You can flush excess cellulite by drinking water without the wraps. The hair, skin, nails made my face break out. The greens taste horrible. You would come out better buying Green Superfood or juicing. I didn't try the protein because by looking at the nutritional facts, it's not worth the time. Save your money.

Has anyone since loosing weight and getting there confidence back has become a flirt??? I separated 2 months ago and since I started going out but I notice that since I have lost weight and I am single that I am becoming a big flirt. I also find that men notice me a lot more and I don’t know how to handle it, I go out every other weekend I am always meeting new people and I can’t find to stick to one because the attention feels good. Anyone share the same experience or am I becoming a “Band Ho” for attention.

Thanks everyone! I'm feeling much better now :-) Readytolosemomof5- that's awesome! My wedding ring is loose now too, but not too lose. If was super tight too before surgery... I could get it off but I had to work hard. I do hair for a living and it dries me nuts because it's always flying around or getting stuck in some poor lady's hair. Haha

Hi! I recently lost 50 pounds after my second child and decided to get a tummy tuck for my excess skin. That being said, I started smoking again after I had my daughter... (not proud of it) but I was wondering if anyone else quit smoking 2 weeks before their scheduled tummy tuck? I'm so nervous that it won't be enough time... i really just need support and your stories of quitting and how your tummy tuck turned out!

After my first 50 lbs. A horrible pic, but those pants were a size 26-28 and now I'm in a 20 and that is loose!

Reflux? Maybe but I can't eat/drink much
novbeginning posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope someone can help me. I'm not sure what's going on. The past few weeks i've had trouble with the band, either hungry or can't eat a thing. I went to the band dr. and she did an upper GI with a fill to see what's happening. She said the band looked good and was actually loose. so put some in.. i'm at about 2.5 on a 4 cc band. Anyway, stayed on liquids as instructed for two days then tried food but my body wasn't having any of that. I'm still on liquids and it's day 5. I thought my bad was too tight then i started feeling the sour stomach taste in my mouth and realized that's stomach acid. Now I think I have reflux and when she played with my band it triggered it worse. Has anyone had problems like this? I'm seeing a gastroenterologist on Monday so hopefully he can help. When I drink antacid it helps with some food but i'm still 90% liquids and sometimes throw up Water. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you. -
Tuesday one year ago I met with my surgeon for the first time. What a wonderful year I have had for health and rediscovering me. For those of you just starting out, you may feel like I did that your surgery is too far in the future and waiting all those months will be unbearable. When I first started to research WLS in September, I thought I might be able to have surgery before Christmas. Ha ha ha. Not only was it not before Christmas, but it didn't actually happen until March. And you know what? I needed every single day of that time period between September and March to prepare myself for this enormous life change. First, I met with my clearing psychologist. And I didn't get cleared! Nope. I needed to change my habit of eating in front of the TV. Until I did that, the psychologist was not going to clear me for surgery. He told me that I needed to make lifestyle changes. When I first heard that, of course I said, sure! Everybody knows you need to make lifestyle changes! But when I went back to him the following month for clearance, and I told him I had not been exactly able to give up TV eating, he told me point blank that he didn't think I was ready for WLS. He told me that unless I actually made the lifestyle changes, I was not likely to succeed with the LapBand. Of course, he was right. I'm glad that my little wake up call was so minor, and not a bigger deal, like if I had been denied surgery at the last minute. His denial made me face facts. How was I going to live in a new way, if I wasn't even willing to change a little bit? After I gave up TV eating, the next hurdle was the holidays. I grieved my way through Thanksgiving. I was very sad that in my mind, it was going to be my last enjoyable holiday. I sat in the kitchen the night before Thanksgiving, after having roasted the turkey, and binged on the crispy turkey skin. It was the weirdest experience I'd had in a long time. I knew what I was doing, and simultaneously I knew it was the last time I was going to do it. I knew that Thanksgiving 2014 was going to be different. I was going to have lap band surgery and I was going to be eating like a normal person. I was working toward that goal with excitement. So why was I so sad? I was getting ready to pay somebody thousands of dollars to help me recover from binge eating. And I was grieving not being able to binge eat anymore. Fast forward to February 2014. My personal life took a terrible plunge. My marriage, which was in bad shape before my WLS process began, took a terrible blow. Constant stress became my normal everyday life. I had one anchor in my life. My upcoming surgery. I was banded mid March 2014. I complied with all of the doctor's orders. My surgery was a breeze, and my weight began to come off right away. You can see by my ticker that I have had a lot of success this year. I am almost 2/3 of the way to my goal weight. I have not been the weight I am right now since my second child was born 19 years ago. Through it all, I have received immeasurable help and support from this website. I do not have a supportive spouse. I do have two very supportive daughters. But when it comes right down to it, we must do this for ourselves. Nobody can do this for us. And more importantly, nobody, nobody, nobody can prevent us from doing this for ourselves once we are ready to reclaim our power. I'll save my long list of NSV's and great experiences for when I write my 100 pounds lost post soon. And it's almost here. This post is just a reflection back to that first week when I walked into a WLS orientation meeting, followed by a meeting with my surgeon. The fearful, beaten-down person that I was one year ago no longer exists. In her place is a strong, confident woman who knows that she is worth it. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. This is about so much more than weight. Nothing changes until everything changes.

RNY nervous for weight gain
Icantbelieveit replied to linrey88's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Program consists of a diet and exercise. If you dont follow it, of course you will gain weight. About a year or so the honeymoon period is over and your body learns how to re- absorb calories and work around your tool. And the sleeve, you can do that day one with sloder foods and eat around your sleeve. It is not a sure way to loose and keep it off. This isnt the easy way out as some think. You still have to put in work. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App
