    January Bandsters???

I have fallen in love with frozen carnation instant breakfast. I make 3 bottles at night and stick them in the freezer to have for the following day. They are so good and creamy. Better than making it in the blender with ice bc nothing is being added. Yum....

    Sleeve Vs. Bypass

Well after visiting with the surgeon she recommended the sleeve because I have no other ailments ..like diabetes or high cholesterol etc...she said sleeve has less risk so after thinking about it and talking to my husband I've decided on sleeve. It does Co cern me bc the stomach is bigger....but I'm really going to give it my all and hopefully it'll work.

    Post Sleeve Bucket List :)

    - fit into the movie theater seats with someone on both sides. - shop at regular size clothes stores & not worry that they don't have my size or that it'll be not cute in a xxl. -wear the pretty sandals in the right size bc feet too fat to fit now -have more girly hands, fingers worthy of my amazing wedding ring -not have my husband or dad borrow my pants because they won't fit them in the future -chase my furbabies arounfld the yard with vigor -not have the belly interfere with driving/ sit in the correct position for both airbags & the pedals -stop being a slave to food & constantly looking for my next meal.

    RNY 12/21/2017

My Story I had RNY 12/21/17 starting weight 230 and Surgery weight 218. Lowest weight was in May 2017 at 173. I bounced between 173-175. Since then I’ve creeped up to 180. I’ve gotten off track. I don’t eat much in a sitting bc of the restriction. But I find nothing I eat affects me negatively (no dumping etc) so I will eat bread items and sugar and I have gotten back into the habit of drinking coke again. Even if it’s just to have a couple of sips. I need to buckle down and get back on track. My goal weight is 140. Anyone else in the same space as me?

  13. Oh Boy!! I'm so sorry I have been gone from here!! There has been very difficult family drama going on. Unfortunately, my role is always the "calm" one who can handle anything. So, I suffer inside for what everyone around me is going through. This time it has nearly pulled me down. I'm sure this is part of my problem. I would rather suffer than see anyone I love hurt. When I do that, it doesn't matter what I eat, or if I sleep, or if I run. Well, friends, your voices were all in my head, telling me to run. So I did. It is the only thing that has kept me alive. I ran my fastest first two miles this week. Though I have not checked in, each one of you has been in my thoughts every day. Betty, you are such a wonderful woman. You are warm, fun, loving, brilliant, and have created such a beautiful home and life for everyone to enjoy. Seriously, you would be worth moving to Portland to be near. When I saw you, I thought that you should at your weight. It was helpful for me to eat out with you. It was a first time that I had ever eaten with another bandster. At this stage, we might be taking leave of the rules a bit. I need to review what my doctor specifically ordered regarding portion sizes, food choices, and fork breaks. I know you can do this. We are not immune to holiday eating or food vices just because we are banded. Thank you for your honesty. It has really helped me to look at my own wayward actions. Dawn, you are like the mailman. It does not matter what the weather or hardship, you are determined to be disciplined. Your steady improvements in speed and distance inspire me to play the "Rocky" song and push myself further. YOU really do give me a push out the door when I would rather watch "Project Runway" instead. I think I can feel completely satisfied and proud to brag of my 6 mile runs. But I have not yet arrived at my destination. You and Julie have shown that there are higher heights to which I can reach. Thank you for that inspiration! Julie, what can I say? You are so completely honest in this journey, sharing your pics and highs and lows (mainly low BMI!!) You have no idea how many women you have helped to succeed because you have put a face, mind and heart on this procedure and experience. (Oh yeah, and great legs, stomach, arms and b**bs, too!) People can relate to you because of your honesty. When you have slightly fallen, or encountered obstacles, you have stopped to reflect, renew your commitment, but then have moved forward. This has been a great help to so many of us. You also give excellent advice in the kindest way. Thank you! Now my turn. There are so many ways in which I long to improve. First is in my honesty about my problems. Here I am a ghost, scared to reveal myself to the world on this site. My friends don't even know. I had a close friend ask me if I had any weight loss surgery. I didn't even respond, because I won't lie, but I was actually offended that she asked!??! How is that for honesty? I am the least honest with myself. I have issues with food that have been in my life since I was a little girl. Even though I have passed for very thin my entire life, the food demons finally caught up with me about ten years ago. I tried to think that mirrors didn't matter and that numbers on the scale could easily be reversed. It was just too hard to believe that my worst nightmare had become my life. Even now, after a good weight loss, it is hard to face the reality. I want to think I am at a good weight, immune to temptation. But I will never be immune and need to be on alert every day. Ohh.... sorry for such a long post. I am just feeling quite thankful for all of you. ANd for the others that have come and gone. Let's see where this next year takes us all! By the way, I am weighing in at 166. The 7 pound gain came in 2-3 weeks after my unfill in September. I've maintained since then. Even with a slight fill, the weight has only maintained. There are at least 20 pounds to shave off, so that is what I want to do!!

    Getting Ready for Spring Bootcamp

Here's my update for today..... - Drank all my Water (it's 10:36pm and I'm finishing up now) - Exercise 1 hr elliptical machine 20 mins lower body weights 10 min abs I went to Target and forgot to buy a new Walk Away the Pounds DVD I forgot my Vitamin (until now-so I'm taking it ) I had not such a great day with food. Breakfast: 3 pieces turkey bacon Lunch: a few bites of a very very dry burger some fries dipped in ranch and consumed one at a time in small bites chewed very well as to not get stuck and a Dr. Pepper to top it off No dinner. I was busy. Fed the family first then wanted to rush off to the gym. Not a healthy choice. I'm drinking some Protein now because I know I need something in my system. Tomorrow I will try to eat a healthier, more balanced diet. I know that it's not healthy to skip meals-it really was an oversight cuz I was so busy (and not very hungry).

How do you feel about "born-agains"?

Ill go over this better later. I support mostly what it says, especially the part about immigration should be enforced by the fed gov, it cant be state to state. I just dont know how the law should be allowed to change just because theyre here but on the other hand whats the sense of sending them back(we would have to absorb the bill for travel back to home countries)when theyll be allowed to come right back legally. When done legally we would know their backgrounds, criminal history. This is such a deep subject with so many issues, Its going to take forever to get it done if they do it right. This country is made up of immigrants from every country in the world, I have no problem if its done legally. I must say, your on top of your game. I left for 5-10 min and you had the poll posted already!

    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

@Blueslily I am scheduled for April 6. Doing pre-op diet and it’s been rough. I’m on liquids, protein drinks, 2 lean proteins, and non-starchy veggies. I’m hungry, cranky, nauseous, and I have a constant headache! And today, I took magnesium thinking it would help and I learned all about the phrase people use here “never trust a fart.” It was completely embarrassing to run up the stairs past my partner and kids with my pants in my hand, half naked. My partner, luckily, is amazing and supportive and playful. He told me he **** his pants lots of times in the army bc of the diet and regimen. And he keeps making fart sounds to make me laugh. That’s all we can do !

  19. i went into surgery thinking i was having the bypass. i was getting the bypass because it would deal with my diabetis better. but i came out of surgery with the band. they couldn't do the bypass because of adhesions and scar tissue on my small intestine. i am glad now that i have the band. the weight loss is slower but i am healthier than i would have been with the bypass. my diabetis is under control, and instead of 200 units of insulin a day i only take 30 units at night. in a few months we will be adjusting that because my fasting bs and average for the last 5 mos. is 100. by those standards i am doing great. good luck to you and your decision.
  20. Adam- im a nurse and im tellin you, you must take more time off- if you cant get it, you should postpone surgery till you can-- especially with having a steenuous on your feet job.... Often times anethesia can linger for over seven days- you're exhuasted, kinda weak bc youre only taking in clears..... My husband is a teacher and he was able to return after 2weeks.... I was off for four weeks.....Talk more with your doc but returning to a physically strrnuous job after 4 days is asking for complications..... Best to you;)
  21. Yeah I didn't even think that it could be constipation bc I figured it would be different.. but..... The pain is not ignoreable... It's like tearing stabbing exploding pain
  22. I won't do the smooth move tea bc I've tried it pre operatively and got sick. Mineral oil finally did the trick for me!

Nina, well, I started off like a trooper, then I started having back pain, WTF? Wednesday night I started having this very intense pain in my back on the left side, so, after two nights of pain, I assumed I had pneumonia, from being put to sleep, so off to the local doc in a box I go for xrays, turns out it was not pneumonia. The doctor said it was muscle spasms, BS! He gave me muscle relaxer, didn't do chit, duh is it me or don't ya think the muscle would ache all the time, not just when I'm flat on my back? I'm not supposed to sleep on my side, but that's the only way I can lay in the bed without pain. Yes I have peeked, I get light headed each time I take a shower, turn white as a ghost and almost pass out. I think it's because of the change in blood pressure after I release the "binding" tummy garment. I still have to have help getting the garment back on because it's so tight, but I'm going to tackle the lone shower today, but I'm going to take the garment off lying down and give it a few minutes before I attempt to shower. The "girls" are looking ok, the tummy, well I still have the tubes, what a pain in the a$$, did I already tell y'all that, hopefully, they'll come out tomorrow. But, the tummy is flat and I have a new belly button :girl_hug: Also, because I had lost so much weight, my legs had sagged in the inner thigh, so I asked him to do an extra tug in to lift out what he could and it seems to have worked. Well, gang, off to pop off the tummy vice and try a shower...solo.
  24. Hey at least you had insurance that would cover the lap banding. My current insurance will not cover ANY form of weigh loss. None, Nada, Zip, Zero, Zilch! As of January 1st we will be getting BC/BS PPO and of course it will be my luck that in January they will not cover it anymore.. (They are still doing it but my luck they will look at me and go NOPE...sorry I always look on the pessimestic side of things) My sis in law had her stomach stapled and then all the ''cosmetic'' surgeries after the fact (surgery for the bat wings, the tummy flap, and if im not mistaken she even had lipo done and her insurance paid for ALL of those surgeries! IDK what insurance she had but man sign me up! I have crap credit too, dont feel like the lone ranger so I will be doing some serious saving and we are also in a credit recovery program. Our new mantra is ''If you cant pay cash for it you dont need it!"
  25. I waited two weeks but just bc I didn't feel like it. It was fine and it also turned into my second NSV - next morning my hubby told me "baby I could really tell last night that you are down a lot in weight". It was sweet in a weird way. I am down twenty pounds and most from my tummy.
