8 days Post op And I WANT PEANUT BUTTER
biginjapan replied to BecomingAnna's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I was going to suggest PB2 as well, but I will say this too - cravings can drive anyone crazy, but giving into them now, so early in the game, will make it that much harder to resist later on. I say this as someone who just got out of a gastric bypass revision for a failed sleeve which failed mostly because I caved to my addictions (chocolate specifically) which lead to falling off the wagon entirely. -
6 days Post-Op RNY

I used to be warm blooded, but after a sleeve and RNY revision I'm always the cold one. -

I'm so mad - revision denial

It sounds like someone in the surgeons office coded things wrong, and they are evaluating it as a weight loss revision rather than as complication revision -
I'm so mad - revision denial

Insurance was a major hurdle when I had my sleeve, but it was approved very quickly when I needed a revision due to GERD. I had already had a motility study, a pH study, and endoscopy done by the time I applied though. -

Just found out that I was denied revision due to GERD, the day before pre surgical testing tomorrow! I'm sooooo angry!! 6 weeks, I've waited and this is what they do!!? -
Pretty much at this point the only thing that would probably stop me from losing still is steroids. Which i obviously dont want to do. Unfortunately it pretty much comes down to calories in for us. Right now i just cant get enough in to really build. BUT i know this is part of my journey. Another hump to get over. But i also dont want to fast forward to when i can eat MORE again. Im just taking this time to learn and prepare for when that time does come! Your situation is tough because you just had the revision and dont have anymore left to lose. I would definitely talk to your nutritionist on how to get those extra cals in.

Converting Sleeve to GB RNY
Losingit2018 replied to Christina.Rose's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had the same revision done just over 3 months ago. No regrets at all. My bowel prep didn’t go very well either. I told the dr in advance that miralax would not completely clean me out. He said it was fine since he only needed intestines and not colon cleaned out. surgery went fine. Try not to worry too much. You got this! -

Tomorrow is the day!!
biginjapan replied to Katheryn0303's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tomorrow is already here for me! I’m also a March 3rd surgery, but I’m in Europe so a few hours ahead of you. My surgery is the last one of the day in the afternoon, due to it being a revision, so lots of time for me to think about it here in the hospital. I got the sleeve 3 years ago and it was much easier than expected. However, other people on my floor had different amounts of pain, so everyone is different. The first week or two is probably the hardest, but even then it’s not that bad (think: first world problems). You’ll do great and remember that this is for life. You’ll have to always think about what and how much you are eating, but you’ll also be free of whatever health problems you may have and will be able to enjoy shopping so much more. Good luck! -
Going for my revision to bypass tomorrow. Feeling a little nervous but also laidback at the same time. Pre-op diet was different to what I did three years ago, but I guess there is no one right way to do things. Here’s hoping all goes well!

What is your experience with lapband surgery?
JewlesA96 replied to imaginegirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had a lap band placed 3 years ago. At the time of surgery I weighed 407 pounds I am currently 295 pounds. Yes the band did work it wasn’t magic. I did have a lot of complications. After the first year all my complications started to happen. I threw up every day for the past 3 years. I was constantly sick and some days couldn’t even hold down water. I am currently 5 days post op from my revision. I had the band removed and had the bypass. During the operation my surgeon said my stomach had begun to grown around the band and was very difficult to remove. Yes the band does work to a certain point but in my opinion if you are going to go threw all the pain of having wls go for something more effective! -
I was pretty much already at my goal weight when I had a revision from sleeve to RNY. Does anyone know what macros I should be eating to maintain my weight but do a body recomposition where I lose minimal weight but convert fat pounds to muscle? Is this a conversation for a nutritionist?

Anyone Have March Surgery Date?😊
Bren85 replied to Lily66's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Lily66, I am actually revising from a sleeve gastrectomy. He had said that he thought the gastric bypass (GB) was a great option for me, but he did mention that I might consider the mini gastric bypass (MGB) too. He didn't go into a lot a detail, but I have been doing quite a bit of research on my own. We will discuss it more next week when I go back for my appointment before the surgery date. It looks like for many people the MGB is a great surgery choice with very similar results to the GB such as weight loss and resolving comorbidities. The nice thing about the MGB is that it requires less intestinal (stomach) rerouting and the time of surgery is much less. However, there is a higher incidence of bile reflux after the surgery. I have a had quite a problem with acid reflux and they found on my recent upper GI scope that I have a severely inflamed esophagus. So I am leaning toward the gastric bypass which has been shown to take care of GERD completely. Hope this helps anyone with questions. Best of luck on your upcoming surgery on the 11th. Bren -
I am a revision patient. I was sleeved on 1-30. My main reason for taking this medication is because I’m nauseous all day. My doc thought this may help me. I am only supposed to take mine 3x a day. He also gave me zofran.

Hi everyone. My surgery date is 02-20-20. I liked the date. 🤷🏼♀️ I’m on protein shakes and clear liquids and get my staples out next Thursday, so I’m right there with you all. Anyway, I had the RNY back before it was cool or before much research had been done about it—nearly 14 years ago. It was amazingly successful. I was on my treadmill in 18 hours. I went from 261 to 155 after a tummy tuck (the extra skin gets gross). But over time, I slowly was able to tolerate anything I wanted, and ultimately ended up back at 267. So I was approved for a revision for DS (duodenal switch) surgery. This experience was not like the last quick laparoscopic one. Last Thursday I came out of the OR with a 13” incision down my abdomen recovery has been awful. I’m in no rush to move onto soft foods, because I remember being at the 5 year mark and unable to lose weight when I wanted to for the first time. My Dr. told me to go back to the post-op Diet for a month and it really worked. Then I tried it at the 10 year mark and it didn’t do anything. So as much as it sucks having family around you able to consume everything, just know that your 1-month weigh-in is going to blow your socks off unlike anything you have experienced, so my advice is to enjoy the journey. The longer you can tolerate the liquids, the faster your initial weight loss will be. And although you will lose a lot of weight throughout the first year, you will never lose as rapidly as you will during the first 30 days post-op. And you only get one chance at that. So, as hard as it may seem some days, be patient and don’t rush this opportunity. Congratulations to everyone. Here’s to a new and improved life!

Anyone Have March Surgery Date?😊
onmyway11 replied to Lily66's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m tomorrow 😳😳😳 March 2nd sleeve revision to SIPS DS. Nervous, excited, nervous haha. I’m in Boston woukd love to hear from others having surgery tomorrow or this week! -
I wouldn’t tell you what to do, but there are a lot of people who had bands in the past having them removed or revised to another type of surgery. It is based solely on restriction (while the sleeve and bypass use restriction but also go further in that other factors such as gastric variables also come into play in assisting with weight loss).

Get the band if you want to have to do all this over again in about 10 years....and fight with it those ten years....I know that there are some real success stories with the band, but they are the exception rather than the rule. I wish I hadn't wasted 11 years with mine before it slipped, gave me a hiatal hernia and I had to have it removed and a revision to RNY. Whatever you decide to do, it IS your decision, but do your homework. And whatever you decide, good luck! We are rooting for you.

Night shift
bikerchick519 replied to Learning2loveTina's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been on days for the last couple of years and just switched to midnights at the end of January. My revision surgery was Feb 3rd. There are not great food choices eating out in general but even less on nights. You have to really pack your lunch and healthy snacks. I live by myfitnesspal. You can even pack your food at home and enter everything in to make sure the macros are where you want them and adjust accordingly. I also personally think it's easier when your co-workers know the journey you're on so they don't try to temp you with unhealthy choices. I don't understand how people don't tell their co-workers and family what they're going through. They can either support you or get out of your way. I don't think it's any harder working nights then going to days if nights make you happy. It's all about your choices and how dedicated you are. -

My revision (to a gastric sleeve) date was confirmed today, 18 March. Can't come quick enough, I am looking forward to moving on. -
I will be undergoing a revision from ESG to gastric sleeve mid March, I have been looking at protein products for the pureed/soft post op stages. I came across lupin soup made by Formulite. Just wondering if any one has tried it? How did you find it? I could also water it down more and filter for use in the liquid stage if needed. My program has a short liquid phase. I'd only be using it for a short while for the pureed/soft stage.....I could probably do my own broth thing and add flavourless protein powder...but I know me I wouldn't bother making the broth so best to have something on hand other than protein shakes or protein water. Thanks https://formulite.com.au/shop/lupin-soup-500g-beef-flavour/

Sleeve to RYN No restriction
Michelle_I replied to Builtbetter78's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I am considering revision from the sleeve to RNY-I would think you would have to feel some type of "fullness". I mean look at the images above. It is a heck of a lot smaller than the sleeve. It can all be so overwhelming sometimes! -
Hello All! I wasn't able to find a thread that had this in it - or maybe I wasn't looking for the right things. I wanted to know what post op patients have been told is a good ration on foods when it comes to the Total Fat for the amount of Protein. For example; Calories - 160 / Total Fat - 13g / Protein - 11g I'm a 6-month post op DS patient (previously had Lapband - but this was tech not a revision). Only 15 lbs away from goal so now i'm looking for ways to maintain.
