8 Month's Post-Op Gastric Sleeve, due for gallbladder removal
Amelie2016 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't think I that had lost weight "too quickly" to develop gallstones, or "sludge". I was losing so slowly in fact, that I went on phentermine for a little while to get through some stalls. My first blood screen three months ago came back fantastic, having met all nutritional requirements and normal cholesterol levels. I've been eating (some of you will not approve, but oh well) food from small organic farms. Instead of Protein shakes, I make my own raw milk Kefir (it consumes all the lactose as it ferments, so no- to- low sugar of any kind) which is a super power probiotic. I've had wild fish, organic cold brewed coffee, seaweed, bone broths, raw cream in my coffee (my god that stuff is so thick it will hold a spoon in it) taking Vitamins, injecting B Complex. So, I have a more varied diet than that, but this is mainly what I eat. Grass Fed meats, raw egg yolks, Almond bread maybe only once a week, a slice (low carb) made by the farmer, almonds raw from Sicily. Roasted leeks, some salads. See, I'm trying to tell you that I felt like I was doing everything right as far as getting in as much nutrition in my tiny meals. BUT. What I have NOT been proactive about, is taking that god forsaken "Ursodiol" regularly, and it is given to us to help us avoid developing sludge and stones. It is a HUGE pill and it had really bothered my stomach. I hated taking it. It's in a giant capsule and it burned, at least me. So I would take it with food and ride it out. But then, I forgot about it altogether. I don't want to lose my gallbladder. I can't find good info out there. Most "articles" are VPNs trying to sell a product. So if any of you have suffered through this, please please let me know. My surgery is scheduled for Oct. 10th. I don't want to have it removed, I want it to heal. But I don't know if that's possible now that I have stones. My mother just lives with hers. However we developed them in different ways. She didn't lose weight, she was never obese. Me ... I guess I've lost over 80 pounds. I don't know what to do. My attitude is wrong. I am beating myself thinking I could have avoided this. I'm taking the Ursodiol daily NOW until surgery time. What if I can reverse this if I just stay on top of the medication? However ... I still have 100 pounds to lose ideally. That may or may not happen in reality. Ok. Thank you for reading, and I hope to hear from you all! Lisa PS I'd say I've lost 89 pounds of fat (muscle scan still looks good-I'm getting new labs next week, but my husband is also getting the gastric sleeve on Monday, huge stress right now too) since I started this journey. Other than this new development ... I have come to truly enjoy being free of my former food obsession and exiting the SAD way of eating and living. -
64oz of Fluid for the first week for me was laughable. I was so excited when I got 24oz. Tomorrow, I'm exactly 8 weeks out, and I can guzzle 16 ounces at once at the gym like I used to. EVERYTHING gets better!!! Week 1 sucked. Week 2 I was hungry bc the fluids were going straight through me, sweet wonderful week 3 started purees for me and I've been the happiest little sleever since then!! Baby yourself for the next 2 weeks. It is SO worth it!! I'm down 32 pounds and can't wipe the smile off my face Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

How much should I be able to eat
gina171 replied to gustavio's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For a grab and go, you might really like the Mini Baby Bel Light cheese, it's the little round one wrapped up in wax. They keep outside the fridge for about 2 hours bc of the wax. Anyway, super dense, yummy, and a good base in your stomach. They are quite cheap at Costco and Sam's, but expensive in the supermarket. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

How much should I be able to eat
gustavio replied to gustavio's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not being nasty. I'm defensive because people are being judgmental. My plan is different than some. People are having issues with that. I was basically asking that if at 2 weeks out, were people able to eat as much as allowed or still less. The issue want that it was a banana or that it has sugar or carbs or any of that. I asked a question and people jumped in automatically being judgmental. I'm not here for that. I legitimately was asking advice from a group that is created and FOR questions. No body is in charge of what kind of questions are asked. I was under the impression we could ask what we want. I'm an adult, this catty bs is for middle school and quite frankly, I'm over it. When do you delete your online dating profile?
LowBMISleever replied to SleeveSoon's topic in The Lounge
Ughhh. I could use dating advice too. And I don't belong giving any dating advice, so I can't help you lol. Sorry to hijack your post, but I'd love some input on my situation! I've been on 4 dates with a nice guy that I'm not really attracted to - met on match. Why? Well, my ex was smoking hot, with a burning temper. The attraction couldn't have been more, we loved each other, but he had anger and control issues (like I'm walking on egg shells to make sure he doesn't erupt...and no one I know - friends, my parents - are ever allowed over)... So, I moved out 4 months ago, saw a therapist 3 times to figure out why I basically had Stockholm syndrome, got sleeved, lost 30 lbs, and got back out there about 3 weeks ago. Back to online dating: I can't date more than one person at a time. Is that weird? Just feels wrong. Anyway, this guy couldn't be nicer, is okay looking, treats me wonderfully, and there aren't any red flags. My question to everyone: were you head over heels attracted to your significant other? Or did love come later? I've always been the former, and it never seems to work out (mostly bc I'm attracted to controlling types). Do you think there's a chance I'll never REALLY be attracted to anyone who is actually healthy for me? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

How much should I be able to eat
gina171 replied to gustavio's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 2 weeks out, banana was on my food list.....BUT only a 1" piece, mashed. My program stresses here are the portions, don't eat more than that til we say you can eat more, end of story. Plus we were warned that bananas are very high in sugar and can cause dumping, so proceed with caution. Just because bananas are allowed on your program, does that mean they want you to keep eating as much banana as you want? This is where I think it would be hard to be a NUT, bc you can give people an inch and they can take a mile. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I loved WWs, I hated the meetings. There was always one person who made the entire meeting about them to the detriment of the rest of the group. Sometimes she was the know it all, who wasn't actually successful, but had been going the longest. Sometimes it was the whiner who failed week after week and blamed the system not her actual actions. Sometimes it was the newbie who wanted to be spoon fed every detail instead of opening up her materials and actually reading them. Every week, every meeting, every time slot, one of the above existed. I gave it a chance, too. I gave each location at least 6-8 weeks and I shuffled the time slots. I found leaders I loved and groups I adored, but there was always that one person who didn't allow actual learning to occur because they monopolized the entire 30 minutes. I went to two support meetings and saw that fatties/former fatties are the same everywhere. I don't have extra hours to spare in my life for that nonsense. At least here, I can click on a different thread and "ignore" those that make me grit my teeth. But I am still wondering why her attendance at a meeting would bug the OP so much.., No one's participation (or lack thereof) has any bearing on my results.

So today I told a girl ik about gastric bypass meeting. She has never been to one and I go to both nights and days. So she tells me this.. I went last month with a friend. I told her I didn't see you!.... Oh I was texting another person too... YAH RIGHT!!!!!! Like I feel like if you can't come to a support group meeting then you shouldn't get surgery anyways! There has been excuses for 11 months now.... I just can't stand her lies and negative this, negative that... I will actually be shocked if she ends up getting the surgery bc it should have been done in May.... Not that I am being rude or mean but I'm sick of hearing the circles she speaks.... I feel so lazy
laceemouse replied to nursegettingheathy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ha! Don't you just love how the folks on the Youtube videos talk about "the community" meaning other WLS people? It's funny to me. I feel like I want to join their club Sorry you are so far away, a BS in Nutrition sounds amazing but I understand about being undecided about what to do in the next chapter of your life. I gotta take it one day at a time for now, waiting for my surgery approval from BC/BS is my first hurdle! Take care. -
I feel so lazy
Hellya replied to nursegettingheathy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Laceemouse, sorry I'm all the way up in western WA state. Too bad, I could use a buddy to do stuff with. I struggle with going back to work, too. I may. I might go back to school. I have a BS in nutrition...maybe I should become a bariatric nutritionist, haha. (probably not). I do need to find something. I have a super supportive, no weight problem husband, too. He's awesome. Youtube videos are funny that way. I know a few of those ladies VERY well...but they don't know me at all. But I'm super grateful for them. -
[emoji24][emoji22][emoji24] Surgery Postponed/Cancelled!
ChristinasSleeveStory posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just got my thyroid lab back, which was tested twice bc the first time the results were "higher than they've ever seen before" and the second lab result said the same thing. It's supposed to be in between a 0-4, and I was 59 and 56. So the anesthesiologist won't put me under. I have been taking my thyroid medication for months ... Last time it was maybe 24 ....I've been feeling so much better since I started taking my medicine (used to sleep 18 hrs a day) so I don't see how my numbers could be possible! Now I have to wait for my thyroid to get back to normal which could take an infinite amount of time! The medicine usually takes up to 6 weeks to even change anything. I'm just a teensy upset right now. Like sobbing. My surgery was supposed to be next Tuesday. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
@@sherie1967 Hi. I also had BCBS Fed. Mine took about 8 days from submission to approval (there was a weekend in there). You can indeed call them or contact them via the FEP MyBlue Portal using secure messaging as well. I don't know if your team has discussed this but it was a total surprise to me at my final pre-op appointment that BCBS required me to stay in the hospital overnight. That may also be based on the type of facility your surgeon uses. I initally wasn't happy about that, but it turned out to be a good thing. As soon as my team got the approval, I was scheduled for my pre-op appointment which included a final nutrition class, blood tests, and a session with my surgeon. Best wishes to you and I hope you will get your approval very soon.

I'm so glad someone else is having this struggle! My hubby thinks it's the easy way out and feels that I should just exercise. He thinks I don't eat now as it is and says I will be miserable after because I won't be able to have what I want or go out for dinners with friends. Um hellooooo? All of that got me to where I am now! This has been a struggle for well over half my life now. I'm fed up and ready for things to change! Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App -
Any coffee drinkers in the house?
nicugal36 replied to jenrae1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The surgery was great, no issues.. Pain was very minimum.. I hit a wall like day 5 bc I felt like I was starving all the time but Protein shakes were making me nauseas. I spoke to my nutritionist and with some trial and error, I created a Protein shake that works for me and is delicious, plus it's got 40g of protein in it.. I freeze the extra shake into Popsicles and will snack on that.. It tastes like ice cream. I want to lose about 80 pounds. Starting weight 267.8 Weight before surgery 255.6 Today's weight 240.1 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I feel great already and would do this again in a heart beat Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I'm still preop but I'm going to continue my depo shots for a while. I HAVE gained weight, but I have two children conceived while on the pill (taken as perfectly as possible) and it's the only bc option I can currently afford while going through the wls process (terrible insurance). Heather I replied to Aleathia's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm starting pre-op liquids today, surgery 9/19. I'm actually excited, to be honest, (surgery delayed 5 months over 3 separate BS issues.) I honestly can't almost believe it's almost here. I'm right there with you!
